Cow on the Moon

" Morro."
" What?"
" Morro."
" What?"
" Mo-"
" WHAT MIA?!* Morro yelled.
Mia sighed. " Impatient. Morro, where's the cow?*
Morro stared at her. " What cow?*
" Uh.... The cow which was next to you?"
" What's a cow?"
Mia groaned. " Where's Emma when you need her?* She mumbled.
" Right here!" Emma called as she jumped from the roof. " The chimney's fixed. And I painted it too."
" Good. Tell your husband what a cow is while I check on Ann and Unagami.*
She jogged to the llamas, and found Unagami trying to pump something out of them.
" Uh.... What are you doing?* Mia asked as she watched the man turned the llamas tails like a knob
" Trying to make them give us milk?*
Mia groaned. " That's not a cow. It's a llama."
" What does a llama do? Does it give milk?*
Mia put her hands on her hips, frowning at Unagami. "No, no, silly! Cows make milk! Llamas don’t! They’re like... fluffy friends, not milk makers."
Unagami paused, scratching his head. "But they have tails, and I thought…"
Mia sighed dramatically, stretching before glaring at him. Okay, let’s think about this. A cow is a big animal, with four legs, and they go ‘moo.’ Can you say ‘moo’?"
Unagami blinked, clearly confused. "Moo?"
"Yes! Good job!" Mia clapped her hands. "Now, llamas? They have long necks, fluffy fur, and they make funny sounds like ‘meh’ or something. They don’t give milk like cows do. Understand?"
Unagami looked at her, then at the llamas, who were now munching on some grass. "So... no milk?"
"Exactly!" Mia beamed. "Cows give you milk for your cereal, llamas just stand there and look cute."
Emma, who had just arrived, couldn't help but laugh. "You know, Mia, I think you might be the only person who can explain this to him."
Mia stood up, feeling proud of her teaching moment. "Well, I try! Now, let’s go check on Ann. I hope she’s not trying to ride the llamas again."
As they made their way over, Unagami looked back at the llamas with a puzzled expression. "So, no pumping, just petting?"
"Exactly! You got it!" Mia cheered, ruffling his hair. "Now, let’s see what Ann is up to before she decides to turn the llamas into a rodeo."
They found Ann kneeling in the grass, drawing pictures in the dirt. "Look! I’m making a cow and a llama!" she exclaimed, her face lit with excitement.
Mia crouched down beside her, examining the drawings. "That’s amazing, Ann! But remember, cows go ‘moo,’ and llamas go…?"
"Meh!" Ann shouted with a giggle.
"Right!" Mia laughed. "You’re a natural. Now, let’s find a real cow so we can show Unagami."
Unagami nodded eagerly. "I want to see a cow! Can I milk it?"
Mia chuckled. "We’ll see about that! But first, we need to find one. Emma, you’re coming too, right?"
"Of course!"
They found no cows.
So they went to find Morro.
" Morro where are the cows?* Emma asked.
" On the moon."
Mia did a double take. " On the moon?! Why?"
" Because ' the cow jumps over the moon'?* He looked confused.
Annie groaned. " Well that's great. Just great."
Mia turned to Annie. " Ann, now's not the time."
Emma turned to her husband. " How did they get on the moon?"
" I threw 'em."
Mia crossed her arms, frustration bubbling to the surface. "Morro, you can’t just throw cows to the moon! That’s not how it works!"
Morro shrugged, his expression blank. "I thought they wanted to see the stars. They were always mooing about it."
Emma pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to suppress a laugh. "Morro, cows don’t want to go to space! They just want to graze in a field."
"Yeah!" Mia added, shaking her head. "And what are you even talking about? You can’t launch cows into space! They’re not rockets!"
Morro furrowed his brows, clearly puzzled by their reaction. "But I thought… I thought it was a good idea. They would be happy up there."
Annie chimed in, crossing her arms. "Happy? They’d be floating around with no grass, no water, and definitely no one to milk them! What’s wrong with you?"
"Okay, okay," Morro replied defensively, his tone turning slightly indignant. "It was just a little experiment! I thought they might like the view."
Mia sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Let’s be serious, Morro. We need to get those cows back down to Earth. How are we going to do that?"
Unagami, who had been listening intently, spoke up. "Can’t we just use magic? You know, like a teleportation spell or something?"
Emma nodded enthusiastically. "That could work! Morro, you can do that, right?"
Morro looked a bit hesitant. "Um, I guess I could try… but I might need some help. It’s a bit tricky."
Mia pointed a finger at him. "Okay, but you’re leading the way. And no more launching cows into space! Deal?"
Morro nodded, looking slightly contrite. "Deal. Let’s just go back to where I sent them."
They all trekked to the makeshift launch site Morro had used, which turned out to be an old catapult he had fashioned from leftover building materials. Emma and Annie exchanged glances, stifling giggles at the absurdity of it all.
"Why on Earth did you think this would work?" Mia asked, inspecting the contraption. "It’s a catapult! Not a space shuttle!"
Morro waved a hand dismissively. "It looked cool! Besides, who doesn’t want to see a cow flying through the air?"
Unagami, still hopeful, pointed at the catapult. "So how do we get them back?"
Morro furrowed his brows, deep in thought. "Okay, let’s see… If I focus really hard, I can create a portal to where they are."
Mia rolled her eyes, but a smile crept onto her face. "Alright, let’s see this in action. Just promise us you won’t try to launch them back with the catapult again."
"Fine, fine!" Morro grinned, his enthusiasm returning. "Everyone, step back!"
They all moved aside as Morro closed his eyes, concentrating. A soft glow began to emanate from his hands, and slowly, a swirling portal opened up in front of them, shimmering with otherworldly colors.
"Wow," Emma whispered, awestruck.
Mia turned to Unagami, her eyes wide. "This better work."
Morro took a deep breath and waved his hands dramatically. "Cows of the moon, return to your pastures!"
They waited, breathless, as the portal glimmered and pulsed. Suddenly, a loud ‘moo’ echoed from the other side, followed by a few thuds as several cows stumbled through the portal, looking bewildered but unharmed.
"They’re back!" Unagami cheered.
Mia laughed, relief flooding her. "See? No cows in space!"
As the last cow emerged, Morro slumped back against the wall, a grin plastered on his face. "I did it! I actually did it!"
Annie rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile. "Next time, let’s stick to a plan that doesn’t involve sending livestock to the moon, okay?"
Mia patted Morro on the shoulder. "Good job, Morro. Now, let’s make sure these cows are taken care of. And let’s keep an eye on you to make sure you don’t send them off again!"
