Anyway

Mia was humming in the living room as she knit Blackie a pink hat.

" You're gonna look so dashing." She cooed

The cat rolled his eyes. " You always say that."

" Because it's true."

Before Blackie could reply, Annie burst in, a wide grin plastered on her face.

" I PASSED!" she yelled. " I'M AN OFFICIAL BAKER NOW!"

Mia jumped up. " What?!"

Annie nodded, her brown/ blonde hair bouncing. " Yep! I did it!"

Annie handed Mia the certificate, and Mia read it slowly.

Annie waited eagerly. " So....?*

Mia looked up, smiling. " I can't believe it!"

She grabbed her phone. " HEY EMMA!" she yelled. " ANNIE DID IT!"

" REALLY?!" the other voice screeched. " " Hold on I'm coming!"

Mia grinned as she spun to Annie. " I can't believe it! This is huge!"

Annie nodded, smiling like never before. " I know, right?!"

Then, Emma ran in.

" Let me see!"

Annie gave her the certificate, and Emma let out a loud squeal. " You did it!"

She started dancing around the room, and soon Annie, Emma and Mia were holding one anithers hand and spinning in a circle.

" You did it! You did it! She did it! She did it!" Emma cheered as they collapsed.

Mia grinned. " This calls for a celebration!"

Annie turned to Mia. " When?"

" Two hours!"

The two other girls gasped. " What?!"

" Don't worry. It's just gonna be the three of us."

They waited for the other people.

But Mia didn't say anything. She just blinked. " What?"

" Wait... It's just gonna be the three of us?" Annie asked, her voice wobbling a bit.

Mia nodded

" Wait.... JUST us?*

Another nod.

Blackie meowed and stretched. " You two better believe it!"

Mia beamed at the excitement swirling in the room. "Yep! Just us. I figured we could have a cozy celebration—pizza, cake, and maybe a movie. What do you think?"

Annie’s eyes softened with relief as she smiled. “That actually sounds perfect.”

Emma, still catching her breath from all the excitement, chuckled. “Phew, you scared us there, Mia! But honestly, it sounds great. Just us girls!”

Mia grabbed her phone again, texting their go-to pizza place. “I'll order the pizzas, you two can pick the movie.” She glanced at Blackie, who was still lounging on the couch, unimpressed. "And you, Mr. Fancy Cat, will get to model this lovely pink hat."

Blackie narrowed his eyes. “I’m not wearing it, Mia.”

“You’ll wear it, and you’ll love it,” she teased, wagging a finger at him before plopping back down on the couch to finish knitting.

Annie, still buzzing with joy, plopped down beside her. “I can’t believe I’m a baker now. It feels like a dream. I almost gave up so many times.”

Emma sat cross-legged on the floor, looking up at her friend with admiration. “But you didn’t. You pushed through, and now look at you—certificate in hand, the world at your fingertips.”

Mia nodded as she worked on the last few stitches. “Emma’s right. You should be super proud of yourself, Annie. You worked hard for this. Tonight’s just the beginning.”

Annie's smile stretched wider. "I’m so glad you two are here to celebrate with me."

Emma smiled. " We wouldn't have it any other way."

Annie stretched in her blue cotton nightsuit with bunnies printed on them and put her sleeping mask and hat on as she reached into her bag and pulled out her teddy. " Well, I think it's party time!"

Emma nodded in her matching nightsuit, except hers was green.

Mia tied her hair in a bun and smothered her matching nightsuit, except hers was a nightgown and was pink.

Blackie, meanwhile, lazily meowed and curled up on the couch.

Mia took the plates out, and Emma cut the pizza while Annie took out cups and put in lemonade.

Mia hummed softly as she set the plates on the table, her pink nightgown swaying lightly as she moved. "This is going to be so much fun," she said with a smile, glancing at her friends who were just as excited in their cute, bunny-print nightsuits. "Who knew a celebration could feel so cozy?"

Annie, her sleep mask now pushed up on her forehead, giggled as she placed the cups on the table, carefully pouring the lemonade. "Honestly, I love this! Who needs a big party when you can have pizza, lemonade, and your best friends?"

Emma, who was focused on cutting the pizza, grinned. "Exactly! This is perfect." She handed out the pizza slices, each of them taking their seats around the coffee table.

Blackie gave a lazy yawn, stretching out further on the couch, clearly uninterested in their celebration but still watching them with a half-lidded gaze. "I suppose I’ll allow this chaos tonight," he meowed dramatically.

Mia shot him a playful look. "You always allow it, Blackie. You secretly love it."

Blackie just huffed, settling his head back down as the girls giggled.

With the pizza served and lemonade poured, they all clinked their cups together. "To Annie the official baker!" Mia cheered.

"To Annie!" Emma echoed.

Annie beamed. "To us and our amazing friendship!"

They dug into their pizza, laughing and chatting about everything from Annie’s baking dreams to what kind of cakes she would make next. The coziness of the night, the warmth of their bond, and the comfort of their matching nightsuits made everything feel perfect.

Mia leaned back after a while, sipping her lemonade. "This is the kind of celebration I live for—good food, good friends, and a little bit of peace."

Emma nodded in agreement. "Couldn’t have said it better myself."

Annie hugged her teddy close, glancing between her two best friends. "You two really made this night special. Thank you."

Mia reached over and squeezed Annie’s hand. "Anytime. You deserve it."

( This is what I wish we could have done.

But seriously. Congratulations!!!!
