The Monk Seal rescue
Here is a picture of the Super Blue moon.
I have a telescope, so I was able to get a pic.
Or seven.
Anyway Ninja now
One day, the ninja were at the beach, investigating a mysterious sound that had been scaring tourists. The ninja had been there for hours and couldn't find anything. Mia was getting angry, so she did the one thing she did when she was angry- swim. She dived into the water and waved to Jay, before taking off to the small island near the beach.
Suddenly, she heard it- she heard the sound. It was louder than ever, and Mia knew whatever it was, it was on the island. So she tiptoed her way around, the sand feeling soft under her feet.
As she approached a palm tree, it was loud. Mia knew whatever made the sound was behind the tree. She peeked, and gasped.
There was a seal.
But, not a seal local to Ninjago.
She gently walked up to the seal. The seal, sensing her approach, tried to scoot away.
" Shhhh, you're okay. It's okay." Mia said, extending her hand and placing it gently on its snout.
" What type of seal are you?" She asked.
" Monk Seal." The seal said.
Mia's hand pulled away. " What?!"
She looked around, and placed her hand back on its snout. " Is your family here?"
" No. There was a current, and it whisked me away. My family must be so worried."
Mia felt her heart clenching. " Oh, you poor thing!"
Then, she saw blood oozing from its tail.
" Oh, no." She whispered.
Then, se made a split second decision. She yelled, " KAI? JAY? COME HERE AND BRING THE CAMERA!"
She could see two panicked figures swimming in the water, and Mia watched with cross arms.
When they finally came on land, they took one glance at the seal and sighed.
" Why am I surprised?" Jay muttered, snapping a picture. Kai had already moved on its side and tried to mend its tail Sensing the unknown person, it got scared, and it let out a defeated groan. Mia ran to it and nodded to Kai, who took the bandages out and went to its tail.
" Do you want a name? Because ' Monk Seal' ain't gonna cut it. How about.... Daisy?" Mia thought outloud.
The seal just stared.
" What? You don't like it? Fine. How about.... Rose?"
Another stare. Mia sighed.
" You're hopeless."
" Uh, Mia," Jay called as he snapped pictures of Mia and Kai trying to bandage its wiggling tail. " It's a Hawaiian Monk Seal. Try something in Hawaiian."
Mia's head snapped to him. " How'd you know?"
Jay smirked. " You're not the only one with knowledge on animals."
Mia rolled her eyes, but seeing Kai needed more time, she sighed. " Fine. I need to dig into my inner Hawaiian."
She sat there for a few seconds before announcing, " Nope, still nothing."
Jay giggled. " You can't just sit there and stare at the seal and call it a day! Try... I don't know... looking at the scenery."
Mia sighed. " You're right. Hmmm..... You have freckles. What about Lily?"
The seal ( or Lily) clapped its front flippers.
" Well, Lily, when my very, very, VERY slow brother is done bandaging your fin, we can take you home." Mia shot a look at Kai, who had finally secured the wraps.
At this point, all the Ninja were on the island, staring in awe at the seal.
Mia turned to them. " Cole, Nya, Lloyd. Fix the Bounty up and sail it here. Zane, map out a route."
" Where are we going?" Jay asked, though he knew all too well.
" We're going to Hawaii."
Lily barked and nudged Mia's hand onto her head. " You don't have to do all this," Lily said.
Mia looked at the seal in disbelief, her eyebrows raised. " Girl, we are not just gonna let you stay here and pretend you're okay."
Jay whipped his head at them. " Sorry?"
" No! Not you! My seal!"
Jay raised his brows. " YOUR seal?"
" Yeah! I was the one who found her!"
" Kai's the one who bandaged her flipper!"
" Well, I'm the one who distracted her!"
" Okay, easy on the insults. Jay, let your sister have some fun." Kai said, trying to defuse the playful exchange.
" Yeah, Jay." Mia stuck her tongue out and hopped to the palm tree, where she looked at the coast.
" Jay, toss me the camera."
Jay obeyed, and Mia caught it before it could slip.
" Okay, Lily. Do some tricks for me!" Mia said, brightly.
Lily stared at her, blinking owlishly.
Mia sighed, and tossed her some coconuts. " Can you juggle?"
Lily rolled on the coconuts and fell on her belly.
Mia slapped her head, but took a picture anyway. She slid down the tree and stared at the water.
Mia grinned at Lily, her excitement bubbling over as she readied herself to dive into the water. "Come on, Lily! Let's go for a swim!" she called out, already running toward the shoreline.
Jay, who had been watching the entire interaction with a mixture of amusement and concern, quickly called out, "Hey, stay close, Mia! We don't want you getting too far out there!" But his words were barely out of his mouth before Mia and Lily were already in the water, the girl and the seal disappearing beneath the waves.
Jay sighed, shaking his head with a fond smile. "That girl is gonna tire herself out one day," he muttered to himself, though he couldn't help but admire Mia's endless energy and her bond with animals. It was like she had a special connection to every creature she met, and Jay couldn't resist capturing these moments on camera.
As Mia and Lily dove and played in the water, Jay positioned himself by the water's edge, snapping picture after picture. Each shot captured Mia's joyful expression, her laughter ringing out as she swam alongside the seal. Lily, now much more at ease, performed little tricks, splashing water with her flippers and diving deep before popping up again right next to Mia.
Mia, completely in her element, swam effortlessly with Lily, the two of them moving together like they had been friends for years. They raced through the water, and whenever Mia started to fall behind, Lily would swim back to her, nudging her along with playful encouragement.
After a while, Mia surfaced, breathing hard but grinning ear to ear. "Jay! Did you see that? She's amazing!" she called out, waving excitedly.
Jay waved back, the camera still clicking away. "I got it all on camera! You two look like you've been doing this forever."
Mia laughed, diving back under the water with Lily. They explored the reef just off the island, finding colorful fish and hidden caves. Every so often, Mia would surface, throwing out excited comments about what they found, while Lily stayed by her side, watching over her like a guardian.
Eventually, after what felt like hours of playing, Mia and Lily returned to the shore. Mia flopped onto the sand, completely exhausted but happy. Lily lay beside her, letting out a contented sigh as she rested her head on the sand.
Jay walked over, offering Mia a hand up. "You look like you've had enough adventure for one day."
Mia took his hand, getting to her feet. "Nah, I could do this all day," she said with a grin, though her tired eyes told a different story.
Jay chuckled, ruffling her wet hair. "Well, maybe take a break for now. We've got a trip to Hawaii to plan, remember?"
Mia's eyes lit up at the reminder. "Right! We're taking Lily home!" She turned to the seal, who was now watching the waves roll in. "You hear that, Lily? We're gonna get you back to your family."
Lily barked softly, nudging Mia with her nose in a gesture of thanks.
Jay smiled, feeling a sense of pride and admiration for his little sister. "You're really something else, Mia. You know that?"
Mia grinned up at him. "I guess I just like helping, especially when it comes to animals." She looked out at the ocean, her eyes full of determination. "Let's get this adventure started."
As the Destiny's Bounty sailed smoothly over the calm sea, Nya, Cole, and Lloyd arrived on deck, their expressions a mix of curiosity and excitement. The massive ship cut through the water with ease, its sails billowing in the gentle breeze. Zane approached Mia, a map in hand, his mechanical eyes gleaming with precision.
"Mia, I've mapped out our course," Zane said, handing the parchment to her. "I was able to bypass all storms, except for the Roaring 40s. We'll need to be cautious when we reach that latitude."
Mia's eyes lit up with excitement as she took the map from Zane. "Yes! This is going to be so awesome!" She squealed with delight, turning to Lily, who was lounging on the deck with a contented look on her face. "Cole, get on! Lily, we're going home!"
Cole laughed as he jumped onto the deck, the entire ship vibrating with Mia's energy. "Alright, let's do this!" he said, settling in beside her.
With everyone on board, Mia took the helm, her hands gripping the wheel with determination. "Hang on, everyone! We're about to break some records!" she announced, her voice brimming with enthusiasm.
Jay, who was still catching his breath from the swim, looked a little uneasy as Mia pushed the throttle forward. The Bounty lurched ahead, picking up speed at an alarming rate. Jay's eyes widened as the ship began to soar across the waves, faster and faster, until they were traveling at an astounding 430 knots.
"Whoa! Mia, slow down a bit!" Jay shouted, his voice barely audible over the rushing wind. He found himself gripping onto Kai's hair for support as the ship sped across the ocean.
Kai, who had been standing next to Jay, winced and shot him an irritated glance. "Jay, seriously? My hair? Couldn't you grab onto the railing instead?" Kai complained, trying to pry Jay's fingers out of his fiery locks.
"Sorry, Kai! It's the only thing I could reach!" Jay shouted back, though he made no move to release his grip. The ship was moving so fast that Jay felt like he might fly off the deck if he let go.
Mia, oblivious to the minor chaos behind her, was completely focused on steering the Bounty. Her eyes were bright with excitement, and her grin was as wide as the ocean itself. The ship sliced through the waves, leaving a foamy trail in its wake as it surged forward. Seagulls squawked overhead, their cries drowned out by the roaring wind.
Two hours passed in what felt like minutes, with Mia never once taking a break. She was so engrossed in the thrill of the speed and the journey that she barely noticed the passage of time. The sea sparkled under the midday sun, the waves cresting and falling in a rhythmic dance.
"Mia," Jay finally called out, his voice strained from holding onto Kai's hair for so long. "You've been steering for two hours straight. How about a break? Let Zane take over for a bit. You deserve some time to relax and play with Lily."
Mia hesitated for a moment, her hands still on the wheel, before finally nodding. "Okay, okay, you're right. Zane, can you take over?"
Zane, who had been observing the ship's systems from the sidelines, stepped forward with a nod. "Of course, Mia. I'll ensure we stay on course." He took the wheel, his movements precise and calculated as he adjusted the ship's speed to a more manageable pace.
Mia sighed with relief, stretching her arms as she stepped away from the helm. "Thanks, Zane. I didn't even realize how long I'd been steering."
Jay finally released Kai's hair, earning a glare from the fire ninja. "You think?" Kai muttered, rubbing his scalp.
Mia ignored their banter and made her way over to Lily, who was now lounging comfortably on the deck, basking in the sun. Lloyd was tossing a ball to her, and the seal was catching it with surprising agility, her flippers slapping the ball back toward him with a playful bark.
"Hey, Lily! Ready to have some fun?" Mia called out, plopping down beside her. Lily barked in response, her eyes bright with excitement.
Lloyd tossed the ball to Mia, who caught it and grinned. "Let's see how good you are at this, Lily!" Mia said, throwing the ball high into the air.
Lily leaped up, catching the ball in mid-air with her snout before bouncing it back to Mia. The two of them played catch for a while, their laughter and Lily's happy barks echoing across the deck.
Cole, who had been watching the whole time, couldn't help but chuckle. "You know, Mia, I think Lily's got a natural talent for this. Maybe she should join the ninja team!"
Mia laughed, shaking her head. "Lily's already got her own important mission—getting back to her family. But yeah, she'd make a great ninja, wouldn't she?"
The Bounty continued its smooth journey across the open sea, the sun slowly dipping toward the horizon. The waves were gentle, rocking the ship in a soothing rhythm. The ninja relaxed on the deck, enjoying the peaceful moment after the intense speed they had been traveling at.
Nya walked over to Mia and Lily, a smile on her face as she watched them play. "You really have a way with animals, Mia. Lily seems so comfortable with you."
Mia shrugged, tossing the ball to Lloyd who caught it easily. "I guess we just understand each other. Plus, I couldn't just leave her stranded on that island."
Lloyd nodded, throwing the ball back to Lily. "It's a good thing you found her. I'm sure she's happy to be going home."
As the sun dipped lower, casting a warm golden glow over the ocean, Mia leaned back, resting her head on the deck as she watched the clouds drift by. The Bounty continued its journey, the horizon ahead filled with promise.
Zane's voice came through the ship's intercom. "We'll reach our first waypoint soon. From there, it should be smooth sailing all the way to Hawaii."
Mia smiled, feeling a sense of contentment wash over her. "Thanks, Zane. And thanks for letting me have some fun today, everyone."
Jay, who was now relaxing on a lounge chair, gave her a thumbs up. "No problem, sis. Just remember to give us a little warning next time before you decide to hit turbo speed."
Mia laughed, glancing over at Lily, who was now napping peacefully beside her. "I will. But hey, we've got plenty of time before we get to Hawaii. How about we make the most of it?"
The ninja all nodded in agreement, settling in for the rest of the journey. The sea stretched out endlessly around them, the waves lapping gently against the hull of the ship. As the day turned to night, the stars began to twinkle in the sky, casting a serene glow over the water.
Mia looked up at the stars, a smile on her face as she thought about the adventure that lay ahead. "We're coming, Hawaii. Just wait for us."
* A few hours later*
A few hours had passed, and the crew of the Destiny's Bounty was gathered around the dining table in the ship's galley, enjoying a hearty meal. The sea had been calm and peaceful, making it a perfect time to relax and share stories. Mia was busy chatting with Lloyd about their next adventure while Jay was stuffing his face with noodles, and Kai was trying to keep up with Cole's tales of past battles.
Suddenly, without warning, the entire ship lurched violently to one side, sending plates and utensils flying into the air. Everyone at the table was tossed upward, their food and drinks spilling all around them. Nya barely managed to grab onto the edge of the table before she was flung across the room.
"What the—!" Kai shouted, gripping the table to steady himself.
Mia's eyes widened with a mix of excitement and realization. She leaped to her feet, nearly knocking her chair over in her haste. "The Roaring 40s!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with a strange mixture of glee and urgency. Without wasting a second, she bolted out of the galley and dashed toward the deck.
"Mia, wait!" Jay called after her, but she was already gone, her footsteps pounding up the stairs.
The rest of the crew scrambled to their feet, quickly following Mia out onto the deck. As they burst through the doors, they were met with a scene of chaos. The once calm sea had transformed into a churning, roaring mass of waves, the sky darkening as storm clouds gathered overhead. The wind howled ferociously, whipping through the sails and making the ship creak ominously.
Mia was already at the helm, her hands gripping the wheel as she struggled to keep the ship on course. But instead of the usual focus and determination in her eyes, there was something wild, almost reckless. She was laughing—laughing like a maniac—as the ship was tossed around by the ferocious winds and waves.
"Hold on tight, everyone!" Mia shouted over the roar of the storm, her laughter ringing out above the chaos. "This is going to be fun!"
Zane, who had been monitoring the ship's systems, was trying to keep the Bounty steady, but even he was struggling against the force of the storm. "Mia, we need to slow down! The Roaring 40s are notorious for unpredictable weather patterns. This could get dangerous!"
But Mia was too caught up in the thrill of the storm to listen. She was completely in her element, steering the ship with a grin that bordered on madness. "Come on, Bounty! Show me what you've got!" she yelled, leaning into the wheel as the ship plowed through the massive waves.
Jay and Kai managed to grab onto the railing, their knuckles white as they tried to keep from being thrown off balance. Cole was gripping a rope, his eyes wide as he watched Mia steer them into the heart of the storm. "Mia, you're crazy!" he yelled, though there was a hint of admiration in his voice.
Lloyd, who was holding onto the mast, was laughing despite the danger. "Only Mia would find a way to make the Roaring 40s into a joyride!"
Nya shook her head, a mixture of concern and exasperation on her face. "She's going to give us all heart attacks," she muttered, though she couldn't help but smile at Mia's infectious enthusiasm.
The ship rocked violently as it hit another massive wave, water splashing onto the deck and drenching the crew. Mia tightened her grip on the wheel, her laughter never wavering. "Come on, Roaring 40s! Is that all you've got?" she shouted defiantly at the storm.
Zane continued to work the controls, doing his best to assist Mia in keeping the ship from capsizing. "Mia, we need to reduce speed! We won't make it through this storm if we keep pushing the Bounty this hard!"
Mia finally snapped out of her adrenaline-fueled haze and glanced at Zane, realizing the seriousness of the situation. She took a deep breath, her wild grin fading into a determined smile. "Alright, Zane, I'll slow down. But we're almost out."
Zane nodded and barked orders at Mia, his calculated precision bringing the ship's speed down to a safer level. The Bounty's violent rocking began to subside, though the storm still raged around them.
Mia stepped back from the helm for a second, her heart still racing from the excitement. She wiped the rain from her face, glancing around at her soaked and bedraggled crewmates. "Sorry about that, everyone," she said, a sheepish grin on her face. "I guess I got a little carried away."
Kai, still holding onto the railing, looked at Mia with a mix of annoyance and amusement. "A little? You nearly got us all tossed overboard!"
Jay, who had finally let go of the railing, walked over and gave Mia a playful shove. "Next time, maybe dial it back a notch, huh? I think I lost ten years of my life back there."
Mia laughed, the sound full of relief and joy. "Come on, you guys! It was a little wild, but we made it through, didn't we? And now we have a story to tell!"
Lloyd, still dripping wet, chuckled and shook his head. "Yeah, a story about how Mia took on the Roaring 40s and lived to laugh about it."
The storm gradually began to calm, the waves lessening in intensity as they moved out of the Roaring 40s' range. The sky started to clear, the dark clouds parting to reveal a glimpse of the sun.
Zane adjusted their course once more, his voice coming through the intercom. "We've cleared the worst of it. Smooth sailing from here on out."
Mia gave a thumbs up, feeling a sense of accomplishment as she looked out over the now calmer sea. "Thanks, Zane. And thanks, everyone, for trusting me. I promise, no more crazy stunts for the rest of the trip."
Kai let out a long sigh, shaking his head with a smile. "That's all we ask, Mia. That's all we ask."
As the crew finally caught their breath, a sudden realization struck them. They all began glancing around, searching for the one member who was missing.
"Where's Lily?" Lloyd asked, his eyes scanning the deck.
Nya looked around, her brows furrowed in concern. "She was just here a moment ago..."
Then, Cole pointed upwards, his voice filled with disbelief. "Uh, guys... you might want to look up."
Everyone followed his gaze, and there, perched precariously on the Bounty's sail, was Lily. The seal seemed to be enjoying the height, her flippers spread out as she balanced on the canvas, looking like she was trying to surf the air.
Mia's eyes widened in shock before she broke into a grin. "Lily! What are you doing up there?"
Lily looked down at Mia and barked, as if pleased with herself for her new vantage point. The sight was both hilarious and concerning.
Jay, shaking his head in disbelief, muttered, "Only a seal Mia finds would end up on a sail..."
Before anyone could stop her, Mia was already making her move. With the same reckless determination that had just driven her through the Roaring 40s, she ran toward the mast, her feet sure and swift.
Jay, seeing where she was headed, threw his hands up in exasperation. "Mia, wait! Could you not take the safer way for once?"
But Mia was already halfway up the mast, scaling it with the agility of a cat. She ignored the rope ladder that dangled nearby, opting instead for the more difficult route that had her gripping onto the wooden beams and pulling herself up with pure strength and determination.
"Mia, seriously, there's a ladder right there!" Jay shouted after her, his voice tinged with worry and frustration.
Mia just laughed, clearly enjoying herself. "Come on, Jay! Where's the fun in that?"
Kai rolled his eyes but couldn't help smiling at Mia's antics. "You're going to give us all heart attacks one of these days."
"Just keep an eye on her," Zane advised calmly, though his eyes never left Mia as she climbed higher and higher.
Reaching the top of the mast, Mia carefully maneuvered herself onto the sail, inching closer to Lily. The wind tugged at her hair and clothes, but she remained focused, her hand reaching out to the seal.
"Hey, Lily," she said softly, her voice gentle despite the height and the swaying of the ship. "Let's get you down from here, okay?"
Lily looked at Mia with wide eyes but didn't move. She seemed content where she was, perhaps not fully understanding the danger of her current position.
Mia sighed, then slowly and carefully, she edged closer, finally managing to scoop the seal into her arms. "Gotcha," she whispered with a smile, relieved that Lily didn't resist.
With the seal securely in her grasp, Mia began the descent, this time using the ropes to lower herself down. As she reached the deck, the crew gathered around, their expressions a mix of relief and disbelief.
Jay was the first to speak, his tone exasperated but affectionate. "You know, you could've just used the ladder like a normal person."
Mia shrugged, still holding onto Lily. "Where's the fun in normal?"
Nya chuckled, shaking her head. "You're incorrigible, Mia."
Mia grinned, then looked down at Lily, who seemed unfazed by her recent adventure. "See, Lily? I told you we'd keep you safe. Just... maybe let's stay off the sails from now on, okay?"
Lily barked in response, nuzzling into Mia's arms as if agreeing.
Cole crossed his arms and smirked. "Well, that's one way to make this trip memorable."
Kai, now fully relaxed, patted Mia on the back. "Good save, sis. Just try not to give Jay a heart attack next time."
Mia laughed, handing Lily over to Lloyd, who started playing a gentle game of catch with the seal to keep her entertained. "No promises," she said, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Jay sighed but couldn't help smiling. "Just... try to keep the rest of the trip a little less eventful, okay?"
Mia flashed a bright smile at him. "We'll see, Jay. We'll see."
* Late at night*
After everyone had fallen asleep, and no one was awake, Mia untangled herself from the sea of Jay's limbs. She gently slid off the bed, but then Jay stirred. Mia froze, and Jay returned back to sleep. Mia sighed and stepped out of the cabin and walked up to the deck, where she found a black cat, staring at the sea in disgust.
" You really hate the sea, don't you?" Mia asked gently, sitting next to him.
Blackie sighed. " I'm a cat. It's what I do."
They sat in comfortable silence, the only sound the crash of waves. Then, Mia broke the silence.
" Remember when I first found you and your family in those bushes, all those years ago?"
Blackie agreed. " You spent so much time with me, nursing me back to health."
Mia nodded, her eyes going off to space. " Then, one day, I found out you had to get micro chipped. I thought we wouldn't keep you."
Blackie looked at her, smiling. " You yelled at your parents and Jay, calling them the worst family. Then you ran out with me in hand."
Mia looked at him. " Yeah. This was waaaay before I knew you could talk."
Blackie smirked at her. " What can I say? A cat's gotta have secrets. And, anyway, you ran away from home. You ran to the alley, and tried your hardest to disguise us. When Jay and your family finally found you, you were all hyped up. You were reaching for your dagger."
Mia gently lifted Blackie to her arms. " I had to save you at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing my life."
Blackie raised his brows. " You're still so dramatic."
Mia chuckled, resting her cheek against his fur. "I guess I am. But you've always been worth it, Blackie."
The cat nuzzled into her, his usual sass softened by the quiet moment. "And you've always been worth every bit of trouble, Mia."
They stayed like that for a while, simply enjoying the quiet company of each other, with the sea as their backdrop. The night felt endless, but in a way that was comforting, like it was a special time carved out just for the two of them.
As Mia and Blackie sat together in the quiet of the night, lost in their thoughts, a voice suddenly broke the stillness.
"What are you two doing out here?"
Mia and Blackie froze, turning to see Kai standing there, smirking. Beside him were Lloyd and Jay, both looking amused but also a bit concerned. Kai's smirk only grew wider when he saw their startled expressions.
Mia slapped her forehead in exasperation, feeling caught in the act. "Seriously? Can't a girl have a moment without being interrupted?" she muttered under her breath.
Blackie, always ready with a bit of attitude, hissed at the intrusion, his eyes narrowing at the three ninjas.
"Easy, boy," Mia whispered, trying to calm him down. "They're just nosy, not dangerous."
Kai chuckled, crossing his arms as he leaned against the railing. "So, sneaking out in the middle of the night for some bonding time with your cat, huh? Didn't think we'd notice?"
Jay, still rubbing sleep from his eyes, gave Mia a tired but curious look. "Mia, you know you can talk to us, right? You don't have to sneak around."
Lloyd, who had been quiet up until now, chimed in, "We were worried when we woke up and you weren't there. Thought you were planning some midnight adventure without us."
Mia sighed, glancing at Blackie, who looked equally unimpressed by the sudden company. "I just needed some air. And Blackie and I were reminiscing, that's all."
Kai's smirk softened into a more understanding expression. "It's okay, we get it. But next time, maybe just let us know you're taking a break. We wouldn't have minded joining you, you know."
Mia couldn't help but smile a little, appreciating their concern. "Yeah, maybe. But sometimes a girl just needs a little peace and quiet."
Jay, now more awake, grinned as he walked over and gently ruffled Mia's hair. "You're lucky we care so much about you. Otherwise, we'd let you stay out here talking to cats all night."
Mia rolled her eyes, but there was a fondness in her tone as she replied, "You guys really are the worst sometimes."
Lloyd shrugged, smiling back. "It's part of the job description."
Kai nodded towards the cabin. "Come on, let's head back inside. We've got a long day tomorrow, and you'll need your energy. Plus, it's getting chilly out here."
Mia glanced at Blackie, who gave a reluctant nod as if to agree. She stood up, cradling the cat in her arms as she looked back at the sea one last time.
"Alright, alright. Let's go."
The group made their way back to the cabin, Kai throwing an arm around Mia's shoulders as they walked. Blackie settled comfortably in her arms, giving one last disdainful look at the ocean before closing his eyes.
As they reached the door, Jay whispered with a grin, "Next time, invite us to the midnight chat, okay?"
Mia laughed softly, nodding. "Maybe. But don't hold your breath."
And with that, they all returned to the warmth of the cabin, the night's peace lingering in their minds as they drifted back to sleep.
* Fifteen minutes later*
Fifteen minutes later, as the gentle rocking of the ship lulled everyone back to sleep, Blackie stirred, his sharp eyes catching something unusual in the moonlit water. He nudged Mia, who was dozing off beside him.
"Mia, is the water supposed to be... yellow?" Blackie asked, his voice low and cautious.
Mia's eyes snapped open, instantly alert. "What?!"
Without wasting a second, she grabbed a nearby test tube and bolted out of the cabin, racing towards the deck. The cool night air hit her face as she leaned over the railing, carefully filling the tube with the strange-colored water.
She hurried back inside, heading straight for her small portable lab setup. Under the dim light of a lantern, Mia placed the sample under her microscope, her heart pounding in her chest. Blackie jumped onto the table, ready to assist in his own way.
"Hand me the pipette," Mia instructed, her voice steady despite the urgency.
Blackie, ever the helpful companion, nudged the pipette towards her with his paw. Mia took it and began the delicate work of analyzing the sample, her eyes focused on the tiny droplets beneath the microscope.
"Now the reagent," she said, her voice growing more tense as she began to form a hypothesis.
Blackie swiftly pushed the small bottle toward her, and Mia carefully added a few drops to the sample. The liquid reacted instantly, confirming her worst fears.
"It's oil," Mia whispered, her face pale as she looked up from the microscope.
Blackie's ears flattened in concern. "What does that mean for us?"
Mia stood up, her mind racing as she tried to figure out the implications. "It means there's a spill, and it's close. We need to alert the others. This could be dangerous—not just for us, but for any marine life around here."
She dashed out of the lab, Blackie close on her heels, as she made her way to where the others were sleeping. She knew they had to act fast.
Mia paused in her run, taking a deep breath as she considered the situation. She glanced at the sleeping forms of her friends and then back at Blackie. "Nah," she said with a small smile. "I can handle it on my own."
Blackie tilted his head. "Are you sure? Shouldn't we wake the others?"
Mia waved him off, her confidence unwavering. "No need. I've got this. Here's the plan: First, I'll neutralize the oil with an absorbent compound I've been working on—kinda like a sponge, but way better. Then, I'll deploy a containment barrier to stop it from spreading further. After that, I'll siphon off what's left and purify the water using a portable desalination unit."
Blackie blinked, absorbing the technical details that sounded way more complicated than anything he'd ever done. But he trusted Mia. "Okay... that sounds... very impressive."
"Of course it is," Mia replied, already gathering her tools. "I just need a bit of help with the setup."
Blackie didn't need to be told twice. He dashed to his GUP. Though he wasn't as tech-savvy as Mia, he knew his way around basic operations. He hopped inside, activated the systems, and maneuvered it to the deck.
Meanwhile, Mia slipped into her diving gear, her heart racing with determination. She took a moment to focus, then gracefully dove into the dark water, the coolness of the ocean enveloping her as she descended. The oil was spreading, a thick, ominous layer on the water's surface, but Mia was undeterred.
Mia gave him a thumbs-up as she began setting up the absorbent compound. Blackie engaged the GUP's mechanical arms, assisting Mia by holding equipment in place and fetching tools as she needed them. Together, they worked in sync, the quiet night air filled with the hum of machinery and the occasional splash of water.
As she swam deeper to see the oil damage, she could sense the panic of the nearby sea creatures. Their distress echoed in her mind, but she reached out with her water powers, calming them. "You're okay," Mia murmured, her voice soothing as she directed her energy toward them. "I'm here to help."
With a wave of her hand, she created a bubble of clean, fresh water around the animals, allowing them to breathe freely despite the contamination. The relief in their movements was palpable, and Mia smiled, feeling a surge of confidence.
Then, Mia lowered the absorbent pads into the yellow-tinged water, and she nodded approvingly at Blackie's efficiency. The pads began soaking up the oil, and Mia quickly moved on to setting up the containment barrier, with Blackie helping to anchor it securely.
"Almost done," Mia murmured, adjusting the siphon to start purifying the water.
Blackie, watching Mia with admiration, couldn't help but purr. "You really are something else, you know that?"
Mia grinned, her eyes twinkling as the siphon kicked into gear. "I know, Blackie. I know."
Together, they worked until the water was clear, the oily sheen completely gone. Mia sat back, satisfied with their efforts.
"Mission accomplished," she declared softly, leaning back against the deck railing.
In the dark of night, they heard a familiar voice call out from behind them.
"Where were you?" the voice asked, tinged with both curiosity and concern.
Mia turned around to see Kai, Lloyd, and Jay standing on the deck yet again, looking at her with a mix of confusion and relief. Kai had a bemused smile on his face, while Jay looked both worried and slightly exasperated.
Mia sighed, crossing her arms. "I was... playing hockey with the fish."
Kai raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying the story. "Playing hockey with the fish?"
"Yeah, you know," Mia said with a shrug. "Just your average midnight game of fish hockey. Nothing to worry about."
Lloyd glanced at Kai, who was trying to suppress a laugh. "Is she always like this?"
"Pretty much," Jay said with a grin. "Sometimes I think she lives in her own world."
Blackie, from his position beside Mia, flicked his tail in agreement and let out a soft hiss that sounded almost like a chuckle.
Kai shook his head, still smiling. "Alright, well, since you're done with your... game, let's get some rest. It's been a long day."
"Good idea," Mia said, finally dropping her playful facade. "I guess I could use some sleep. Thanks for checking on me."
As they walked back towards the cabins, Mia glanced at Blackie. "Thanks for your help, buddy."
Blackie gave a satisfied purr, clearly pleased with their teamwork.
Jay clapped Mia on the shoulder, chuckling. "Next time, just tell us what you're up to, okay? We might not all be as good at guessing your adventures."
"Deal," Mia said with a grin, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "But only if you promise not to doubt my fish hockey skills."
* 30 minutes later*
About thirty minutes later, Mia was sound asleep, snuggled up under her blanket, her gentle snoring filling the cabin. Blackie, ever alert, noticed the battery indicator flashing low on the ship's control panel. He nudged Mia awake with a soft meow.
"Mia, wake up! We forgot to charge the battery!" Blackie's voice was urgent.
Mia blinked groggily and then snapped fully awake. "What? Oh no, you're right! Aw, snap!"
"Should we wake Jay up to help?"
" Nah. I can do it."
Blackie tilted his head, clearly concerned. "Are you sure you can handle it?"
Mia rubbed her eyes and stretched. "No need to wake him. I've got lightning. I can do it."
With that, Mia shuffled to the control panel, her energy quickly returning. She took the battery in her hands and closed her eyes, focusing on channeling her lightning powers into it. The room crackled with the faint glow of her energy.
Just as she was making progress ( and about to faint), a hand in blue sleeves joined hers. Jay's familiar presence was unmistakable as he contributed his own energy to the task. He looked at Mia with a sleepy but determined expression.
"Thought you might need a hand," Jay said quietly, his eyes half-open but focused.
Together, their combined powers surged into the battery. The battery's indicator light slowly climbed from red to green as it charged. After a few moments, Mia and Jay finally pulled their hands away, exhausted but relieved.
Mia staggered back, leaning against the door frame to steady herself. "Well, that worked. Let's... definitely pack spares next time."
Jay grinned, rubbing his eyes. "Agreed. And maybe set a reminder, too."
Blackie purred in agreement and watched the two with a satisfied look.
"Thanks for the help, Jay," Mia said, her voice softer now.
"No problem," Jay replied with a yawn. "Just make sure you're not burning the candle at both ends too much."
Mia nodded, smiling. "I'll keep that in mind."
Jay, having noticed Mia's fatigue after the battery incident, gently carried her back to her cabin. As he laid her down on the bed, he tucked the blanket around her, ensuring she was comfortable. Mia, half-asleep, mumbled a soft thank you before drifting back into a peaceful slumber.
Lily, who had been playing around on deck, let out a joyful bark as she saw Jay and Mia. The sound was cheerful but rather loud in the quiet of the night.
Blackie, who had been quietly observing from the corner of the room, hissed softly, "Shhhh, Lily! We don't want to wake Mia."
Mia, barely stirring from her sleep, mumbled, "It's fine, Blackie. Let her be."
Jay smiled, shaking his head at the interaction. "She's right, Blackie. Lily's just happy."
Blackie sighed and settled down next to Mia's bed, keeping an eye on Lily to make sure the playful seal didn't cause too much commotion. As the ship gently rocked, the soothing sounds of the waves mixed with Lily's occasional happy barks, creating a calming backdrop for Mia's restful sleep.
Jay quietly left the cabin, leaving the door slightly ajar so the night breeze could flow in. He felt a sense of contentment knowing that everyone was safe and sound. With a final glance at the peaceful scene, he headed to his own bed, ready to rest for the night.
When the ninja awoke the next morning, the sun was already climbing higher in the sky, casting a warm glow over the deck of the Bounty. As they made their way out of their cabins, they noticed Mia still fast asleep in her bed, her chest rising and falling with each peaceful breath.
Lloyd was the first to spot the fully charged battery, and his eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, it's at full power!" he exclaimed, holding up the battery for everyone to see.
Jay, who had just walked into the cabin, gave a small, tired smile. "That's because Mia charged it last night."
The rest of the team gathered around, their faces shifting from curiosity to concern. Cole scratched his head, looking at Jay with worry. "Mia charged it? But... when did she even do that?"
"Last night," Jay replied, nodding. "She stayed up and handled it on her own."
Kai furrowed his brow, glancing at Mia's sleeping form. "She didn't wake anyone? That's... a lot of work for her. We should have helped."
Nya, who had been silently observing, crossed her arms and shook her head. "She's always so determined, but she shouldn't be pushing herself too hard."
Zane, ever the analytical one, examined the battery with a critical eye. "The battery is definitely at full charge. But we need to make sure Mia is okay. Overexertion can be dangerous."
Jay sighed and looked at Mia with a mix of concern and affection. "I tried to convince her to rest, but she's always so stubborn. Let's let her sleep a bit longer, but we should definitely check on her soon."
The team nodded in agreement, each of them casting worried glances at the peacefully slumbering Mia. As they went about their morning tasks, they made a silent promise to be more vigilant and supportive of their friend's well-being, ensuring she wouldn't have to tackle challenges alone in the future.
Lloyd, still holding the battery, gave a small smile. "Well, at least we know Mia's got it covered when it comes to handling unexpected situations."
The ninja shared a few more concerned glances but eventually turned their attention to preparing for the day ahead, all the while keeping a watchful eye on their sleeping friend.
When Mia finally woke up, she was greeted by a row of concerned faces. The ninja hovered around her, their expressions a mix of worry and relief.
Mia blinked groggily and sat up, waving her hand dismissively. "I'm fine, really. Just needed a bit of rest."
Kai, with a frown etched on his face, gently pulled back her sleeve. His eyes widened as he spotted a lightning-shaped bruise on her arm. "No, you're not. Look at this."
Mia glanced down and her face lit up with an unexpected grin. "Oh, yippie! I finally got mine! Look, Jay!" She proudly showed Jay the bruise.
Jay's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Yeah! Mom and Dad would be proud! You got yours! If anyone asks who you are, just show it to them!"
Kai's confusion was palpable. "Would you stop pretending we all know what that means? Can someone explain?"
Mia looked at Kai with a smile. "In our family, whenever we do something life-saving, we get a lightning-shaped mark. It's a way to honor the elemental powers we have. I already had the marks for fire, water, and wind. Now I've got the whole set—lightning included!"
Jay's eyes widened in shock. "WHAT?!"
Kai, still processing, shook his head. "So, this is a big deal?"
Mia nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely! It's like having a full collection of elemental marks. It means a lot to us."
Jay finally managed to wrap his head around the news, a proud smile spreading across his face. "That's amazing, Mia. You've really earned it."
Lloyd, who had been quietly observing, spoke up. "It sounds like you've done something truly extraordinary."
Mia beamed, her usual tough demeanor softening. "Yeah, it feels pretty awesome. I just wanted to help, and I didn't expect to get this mark."
Kai sighed and gave Mia a reassuring pat on the back. "Well, you've definitely earned it. Just make sure you take care of yourself too."
Mia nodded, her smile never fading. "I will. Thanks, everyone."
Lily, with her fur ruffled and eyes wide with distress, entered the cabin. She looked around frantically until her gaze landed on Mia, who had just woken up.
"Mia!" Lily's voice was tinged with panic. "There's a dolphin stuck! It's trapped!"
Mia's eyes widened in alarm. "What?!"
Nya, who also heard, told the others. ( She can talk to whales * shrugs*)
"Let us handle it, Mia." Jay said, turning to the door.
But Mia shook her head, determination in her eyes. "I can't. You saved my life. I save yours. I have to help."
Without another word, Mia dashed out of the cabin and dove into the water. Her movements were swift and powerful as she swam toward the source of the trouble.
She reached the entangled dolphin and saw the net tightly wrapped around its body. With fierce resolve, Mia thrashed at the net, using her feet and arms to rip it apart. The net was stubborn, but Mia's determination was stronger.
"Come on, come on!" she grunted, breaking through the tangled mess.
The dolphin, with a grateful but anxious look, struggled to stay calm. Mia's hands were working furiously, her fingers scraping against the rough material of the net.
Finally, with one last powerful push, she managed to tear the net completely free. The dolphin was now free, its tail flicking with relief.
Lily surfaced next to Mia, her eyes wide with concern. "You're hurt!" she said, noticing the scratches and bruises on Mia's arms.
Mia shrugged nonchalantly, though her movements were slightly strained. "Oh, this old thing? Eh, it's nothing."
She swam back to the boat, where Jay and the others were waiting anxiously. As she climbed aboard, dripping wet and with a few cuts and bruises, the others looked at her with a mix of awe and concern.
Jay rushed to her side. "Mia, you should have let us help. You're hurt."
Mia waved off his concern with a tired smile. "I'm fine. Really. Just a few scratches. It was worth it to see that dolphin free."
The dolphin, now swimming around joyfully, let out a happy squeal and did a few playful flips in the water. Lily watched, her distress giving way to relief and gratitude.
Jay looked at Mia, his eyes reflecting both pride and worry. "You really are something else, Mia. But you've got to take care of yourself too."
Mia nodded, her smile unwavering despite the pain. "I know, Jay. But sometimes, you've just got to do what feels right."
Then she stormed over to the map pinned on the wall of the cabin, her face etched with concern. "Zane, where are we?" she asked urgently.
Zane, glancing at the map, pointed to a spot. "We're here, about halfway through our journey."
Mia's eyes widened as she looked at the distance still to cover. "How long until we arrive?"
Zane checked his readings and replied, "Three days."
Mia's frustration flared. "Three days? We don't have that time! We need to get to safety now!"
Jay stepped forward, trying to calm the situation. "Uh, Mia? We don't have a choice. There's a storm coming. It's going to hit us soon."
She turned to the sky which was overcast. Then she turned sharply to Zane, her frustration palpable. "I thought you said there were supposed to be no storms!"
Zane's face was tense. "That's what the tracker said. I don't know why it's changed."
Mia groaned, trying to think quickly. "Alright, everyone, listen up! Nya and my escape room boys, get into one cabin and stay there. The rest of you, in the other cabin. Lily, go with Lloyd. I'm going to steer the ship. I'm the Wind Ninja, logically, I'm the best choice for this."
The others scrambled to follow Mia's orders. Nya, Cole, and Lloyd made their way to one cabin, while the rest of the group prepared to take shelter in the other. Lily, looking a bit anxious but trusting, followed Lloyd.
Jay, his concern evident, approached Mia. "Are you sure you can handle this?"
Mia nodded with determination. "I have to. We don't have time to waste. If I can use my wind powers to navigate through the storm, we might just make it through without too much trouble."
Jay sighed but didn't argue. "Alright. Be careful, Mia."
Mia kissed his lips. " Love you."
Jay kissed her hair. " Love you too."
Mia took her position at the wheel, her hands gripping it firmly. As the ship rocked gently with the rising waves, she focused on harnessing her wind powers, guiding the vessel with careful precision.
The wind began to pick up, and the sky darkened as the storm approached. Mia's concentration was intense as she fought against the increasing gusts. The others huddled in their respective cabins, bracing for the rough seas ahead.
With every ounce of her energy, Mia battled the storm. Her wind powers helped steady the ship, but the storm's ferocity tested her limits. She couldn't afford to lose focus, knowing that the safety of everyone on board depended on her.
They tossed, and turned, and Mia, though scared, remained calm. She had to. All their lives depended on it.
Hours passed, and the storm raged around them. Mia's arms ached from the constant effort, but she pushed through, her resolve unwavering. Jay occasionally peeked out from the cabin, watching her with a mixture of worry and admiration.
As the night wore on, Mia could feel the storm's intensity slowly diminishing. Exhausted but determined, she continued to steer the ship, her powers fighting against the tempest's last remnants.
Finally, as the storm began to subside, the wind calmed, and the ship steadied. Mia slumped against the wheel, her energy spent but relieved. Jay, coming up from the cabin, approached her with a concerned expression.
"You did it," he said softly, picking her up. "The storm's passing."
Mia managed a tired smile. "Yeah, but it was close. We've got to be more careful next time."
Jay nodded, kissing her. "Let's get some rest. We'll need it for the rest of the journey."
As the storm finally eased, the ship continued its course, and the group slowly began to settle down again, their spirits lifted by Mia's bravery and the calming of the storm. The journey was far from over, but they had weathered the worst of it, thanks to Mia's determination and strength.
* At twelve in the night*
At midnight, the heat was stifling. Mia, unable to sleep, slipped out of the cabin and onto the deck, seeking some relief from the oppressive warmth. She wandered to the edge of the ship, where the cool night breeze felt like a welcome contrast to the heat.
A few minutes later, Cole, who had also been unable to sleep, spotted Mia outside and approached her. He squinted against the dim light and said, "Mia, what are you doing out here at this hour?"
Mia, leaning on the railing and gazing at the dark sea, turned to him with a mischievous grin. "Playing hockey."
Cole raised an eyebrow, clearly puzzled. "Hockey? With what?"
Mia shrugged, her grin widening. "With the moonlight and the waves. It's all about imagination."
Cole chuckled, shaking his head in amusement. "You're something else, Mia. Couldn't sleep either?"
Mia nodded. "Yeah, it's way too hot. I thought some fresh air might help. And maybe I could have a little fun while I'm at it."
Cole leaned on the railing next to her. "I get it. Sometimes you need a break from everything. It's nice out here, though."
They stood in companionable silence, both enjoying the calm of the night and the gentle sway of the ship. Mia glanced over at Cole and said, "You know, it's moments like these that make me realize how much I appreciate the little things."
Cole nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's easy to get caught up in the chaos and forget to enjoy the peaceful parts."
They both looked out at the dark horizon, the gentle sound of the waves providing a soothing backdrop. As the night wore on, the heat seemed to fade a little, and Mia and Cole continued to enjoy the tranquility of the sea under the stars.
Jay, having noticed Mia out on the deck, walked up and wrapped her in a warm hug. "It's beautiful out here," he said, lifting her off the ground with a joyful smile.
Mia grinned, enjoying the moment, but then her eyes widened as she spotted something in the water. "Hold that thought," she said quickly, slipping into her diving gear.
Without waiting for a response, Mia dove gracefully into the sea. Jay and Cole watched as she disappeared beneath the waves. Moments later, Mia surfaced, holding her camera and beaming with excitement. "You guys have to see this!" she called.
Jay and Cole scrambled to grab their diving gear and followed Mia into the water. As they descended, they marveled at the vibrant coral reef below. Mia guided them to a magnificent loggerhead sea turtle, gliding serenely through the water.
" Woah!" Mia exclaimed as she saw a school of humu humu fish swimming around her.
" Amazing!" Jay said as he observed some dolphins play around in the sand.
" Incredible! You don't see any of this is Ninjago!" Cole added, spinning as he watched some octopuses.
Their fun was abruptly interrupted by Kai's voice echoing through the water. "Mia! Jay! Cole! Where are you guys?"
Mia, still floating next to the turtle, looked up and sighed. "Looks like we have to go."
Jay and Cole nodded, and together they swam back to the surface. As they emerged, Kai and the others were waiting anxiously on the deck.
"What took you so long?" Lloyd asked, his concern evident. "We've been looking for you."
Mia, still grinning from their underwater adventure, shrugged. "We found something amazing down there. It was worth it."
Kai, though relieved to see them safe, shook his head with a smile. "Alright, but next time, let's not make a habit of disappearing like that. We have a storm to deal with."
He offered his hand to Cole, who used it to hoist himself up. He reached for Jay, who reached for Mia.
" Oh, look. It's a human chain. How splendid." Blackie said dryly.
Mia's eyes sparked with mischief when she touched the ground. " That's a great idea!"
She directed the wind to be harsh, quickly drying herself off. She spinjitzued into her gi, and swirled as her dress fluttered in the breeze.
" Isn't this amazing?" She asked brightly, stepping up to the wheel. " We're on our way to Hawaii, the sea is calm, and-"
" Lily is drinking tea!" Jay exclaimed.
Mia rolled her eyes. " No, silly! The animals are happy!"
" No, seriously! Mimi, your seal is drinking TEA!" Kai argued, pointing.
Mia turned to see Lily, perched on the deck, sipping from a little cup with an air of contentment. She was surrounded by a few other animals, all looking quite pleased with themselves.
Mia's jaw dropped as she took in the sight. "Lily! You're drinking tea? Where did you even get that?"
Lily looked up with a satisfied bark and nudged the cup toward Mia. "I found it. It was left out on the deck. And it's quite lovely, thank you."
Nya translated.
Jay chuckled, "I guess Lily's living the high life now."
Cole shook his head, smiling. "Just when you think things can't get any crazier."
Mia sighed, still a bit stunned. "Alright, Lily, but we need to focus. We're on a mission to save dolphins and navigate through a storm. No more tea parties until we get to Hawaii."
Lily gave a resigned nod and set the cup aside. "Understood."
Kai, still watching the scene with a mixture of amusement and exasperation, patted Mia on the back. "Looks like you've got everything under control. Just don't forget about the storm."
Mia nodded enthusiastically, her spirits lifted by the little adventure. "Of course! I'm on it."
She turned the wheel, making them spin around and around.
" Seen that.... been there..... seen that... been there..." Jay muttered, pointing to the odd rock formation in the sea.
Nya sighed as she put her head on Jay. " That's because Mia's spinning us around and around."
" Oh. That explains." He looked at his sister, who looked very, very confused.
" Mia? You okay?" Lloyd called.
Mia looked up and forced a smile, but Jay saw through it.
" Mia, what's going on? Why are we spinning?"
Mia’s forced smile faltered as she realized the ship was indeed spinning in circles. She quickly turned to Nya and Zane, her voice steady but urgent. “Nya, Zane, we’ve got a problem with the steering. Can you two go fix it?”
Nya nodded and grabbed Zane’s arm, pulling him towards the control panel. “We’re on it.”
As they hurried to the control room, Mia tried to correct their course, gripping the wheel tightly. But as she pushed back, something went terribly wrong. The ship suddenly lurched forward, speeding towards a massive rock formation jutting out of the sea.
Jay’s eyes widened in alarm. “Mia, we’re heading straight for that rock!”
Mia’s heart pounded as she yanked the wheel to the right, trying to avoid a collision. The ship swerved violently, the wheel creaking under the strain. For a moment, it felt like the entire ship might tip over, but Mia held on with all her strength, refusing to let go.
The ship narrowly missed the rock, skimming its edge with a sharp scrape that sent a shiver down everyone’s spine. The wheel jerked violently in Mia’s hands, almost snapping under the pressure, but she managed to keep it steady, bringing the ship back under control.
Everyone on deck was holding their breath, the tension thick in the air.
“Nice save, Mia!” Cole shouted, his voice tinged with relief.
Mia’s knuckles were white as she gripped the wheel, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. She slowly released the wheel, her hands trembling from the effort. “That was too close,” she muttered under her breath.
Jay quickly rushed to her side, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Hey, it’s okay. You did great. We’re all safe, thanks to you.”
Mia nodded, still trying to catch her breath. “I don’t know what happened. It felt like the ship just… lost control.”
Zane’s voice crackled over the intercom. “Mia, we’ve found the problem. The steering mechanism was jammed, but we’ve managed to fix it. You should have full control again.”
Mia let out a sigh of relief. “Thanks, Zane. That explains a lot.”
Nya’s voice joined in. “We’ll keep an eye on it from here, just in case it happens again.”
Mia nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. She adjusted their course, making sure they were back on track. The ship was steady once more, the danger seemingly behind them.
Jay squeezed her shoulder gently. “You did it, Mimi. We’re still on course.”
Mia gave him a small smile, but there was still a lingering worry in her eyes. “Thanks, Jay. Let’s hope we don’t have any more surprises like that.”
As they sailed away from the rock, the crew slowly began to relax, the adrenaline from the close call starting to wear off. But the memory of the near miss was still fresh in everyone’s minds, a reminder of just how unpredictable the sea could be.
The night continued on, the ship cutting smoothly through the water once more. But Mia couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still off, a nagging sense that the storm they were heading into might be even more dangerous than they anticipated.
* At night*
Mia jolted awake, disoriented as she felt the world spinning around her. It took her a moment to realize that it wasn’t just a bad dream; the ship was violently rocking back and forth. She rubbed her eyes, trying to steady herself as she stood up and looked around.
The sound of roaring wind and crashing waves reached her ears, sending a chill down her spine. They were in the middle of a storm—a bad one.
Mia’s heart raced as she scrambled out of bed, throwing on her gear as quickly as she could. She hurried up to the deck, where the full force of the storm hit her like a wall. The rain lashed at her face, and the wind howled, whipping her hair in every direction. The ship was pitching wildly, the sea around them a churning, chaotic mess.
Taking a deep breath, Mia grabbed the wheel, feeling the power of the storm tugging against her. She planted her feet firmly on the deck, using all her strength to keep the ship on course. The wind was so strong it nearly tore the wheel out of her hands, but she held on, determined to keep them from being thrown off course.
As she struggled to control the ship, she heard a loud yowl from behind her. Mia turned her head just in time to see Blackie leaping up onto the deck, his fur drenched from the rain. The black cat yowled again, this time more urgently, before bounding up onto Mia’s shoulder.
“Blackie, what are you doing here?” Mia shouted over the howling wind.
Blackie crouched low, his claws gripping her shoulder for balance. “Couldn’t leave you to face this alone! This storm’s no joke, Mimi!”
Mia gritted her teeth, nodding in agreement as she adjusted the wheel, trying to keep the ship from capsizing. The storm was relentless, with each wave feeling like it would swallow the ship whole. But with Blackie by her side, she felt a surge of determination.
“Hang on tight, Blackie! We’ve got to get through this!” Mia yelled, her voice barely audible over the storm.
She pushed against the wheel with all her might, using her wind powers to guide the ship through the worst of the storm. Blackie’s eyes narrowed, focused on the horizon as he balanced himself on Mia’s shoulder, his presence a steadying force.
The ship groaned under the strain, the mast creaking as it fought against the powerful winds. Rain pelted down in sheets, making it nearly impossible to see more than a few feet ahead. But Mia refused to let go, her knuckles white as she gripped the wheel, every muscle in her body straining against the storm.
Minutes felt like hours as they battled the elements, the storm showing no signs of letting them go.
Blackie, still perched on Mia’s shoulder, suddenly perked up, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Hold on a second, Mimi... Isn't your element the storm? Why not try to contain it?"
Mia blinked, taken aback by the suggestion. "Contain the storm...?" she echoed, her mind racing. It wasn’t something she had considered in the midst of the chaos, but it made sense. Her powers were connected to the wind and storms; maybe she could control this one.
"Yeah, it’s worth a try," she agreed, though there was a hint of uncertainty in her voice. "But this is a big storm, Blackie. I’ve never tried anything like this before."
Blackie gave her an encouraging nudge. "You’ve got this, Mimi. You’re the Wind Ninja. If anyone can do it, it’s you."
Mia took a deep breath, determination flaring in her eyes. She loosened her grip on the wheel, closing her eyes to focus. She could feel the storm’s energy all around her, wild and uncontrollable. But she knew she had to try.
Gritting her teeth, Mia began to push back against the storm, drawing on every ounce of her power. She could feel the wind swirling around her, responding to her commands, but it was like trying to hold back a tidal wave. The force of the storm was immense, and it resisted her efforts, fighting back with every gust of wind and crashing waves.
Mia didn’t back down. She pushed harder, her face turning red with the strain. Sweat mingled with the rain on her forehead as she concentrated, channeling all her energy into containing the storm. The wind howled in protest, but slowly, almost imperceptibly, it began to obey.
The storm started to calm, the winds easing up as Mia exerted her control. The waves grew smaller, the sea slowly settling as the power of the storm was drawn back into Mia’s command. But it was taking everything she had. Her muscles burned, and her head throbbed as she fought to maintain control.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the storm began to dissipate. The winds died down to a gentle breeze, the sea returning to a more peaceful state. The rain stopped, and the dark clouds overhead started to break apart, revealing the first light of dawn.
Mia gasped for breath, her body trembling from the effort. The world around her was spinning, and she felt dizzy, the strain of controlling such a powerful storm almost too much to bear. But she had done it. The storm was contained.
Blackie, still on her shoulder, looked at her with wide eyes. "Mimi... you did it!"
Mia staggered back, leaning heavily against the wheel for support. She felt utterly drained, her legs barely holding her up. "I... I did..." she murmured, her voice weak.
The world continued to spin around her, the effort of containing the storm taking its toll. Her vision blurred, and she felt herself swaying on her feet. But even as she fought to stay conscious, a small smile tugged at her lips.
"We’re safe," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath.
But before Blackie could respond, Mia’s legs gave out, and she slumped to the deck, her body finally succumbing to exhaustion. The last thing she heard before everything went dark was Blackie’s worried voice calling her name.
* A few hours later*
When Mia slowly opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Jay sitting right beside her, his expression a mix of relief and concern. Blackie was curled up on her stomach, purring softly. As soon as Mia stirred, Blackie lifted his head and looked at her with a nonchalant expression.
"Hello," he greeted, stretching his paws out lazily. "So, when's lunch?"
Mia blinked a few times, trying to shake off the grogginess. "It's morning, Blackie," she replied, her voice still a bit hoarse. She managed a small smile, though her body felt heavy and sore from the ordeal. "You’ve got a few hours to wait."
Jay chuckled softly, leaning in to brush a stray lock of hair away from her face. "You gave us quite a scare, Mia," he said gently. "But I’m glad to see you’re still yourself."
Mia tried to sit up, but Jay gently pressed her back down. "Take it easy," he advised. "You need to rest after what you did last night."
Mia sighed, a bit frustrated but too tired to argue. "I just... I couldn’t let the storm hurt anyone," she said softly, her eyes reflecting the weight of responsibility she had taken on.
Jay nodded, understanding. "You did great, Mimi. But next time, don’t push yourself so hard alone, okay? We’re a team. We’re here for you."
Mia nodded, feeling a bit guilty but also touched by his words. "Okay," she agreed quietly, glancing down at Blackie, who had already dozed off again on her stomach. "I guess I did overdo it a little."
Jay smiled warmly. "Just a little. Now, why don’t you rest a bit more? We’ve got everything under control for now."
Mia closed her eyes, feeling the comforting presence of her brother beside her and the soft purring of Blackie. "Thanks, Jay," she whispered, already starting to drift back to sleep.
As the day wore on, Kai and Jay took turns steering the ship, keeping a close eye on the horizon while one of them always remained by Mia's side. Despite her earlier efforts, Mia was still recovering, and they didn’t want to disturb her unless it was absolutely necessary.
But as night began to fall, dark clouds gathered on the horizon, and the wind picked up, whipping the waves into a frenzy. The ship began to rock violently, and it became clear that this was no ordinary storm. Even Zane, with his precise calculations and advanced systems, couldn’t find a way to navigate them safely through it.
Jay and Kai exchanged worried glances. "This storm… it’s different," Kai muttered, struggling to keep the ship steady. "I’ve never seen anything like it."
Jay nodded, gripping the railing as the ship lurched to the side. "Not even Zane can figure it out. We’re in serious trouble here."
Kai looked at Jay, his expression grim. "We might not have a choice. We need Mia."
Jay hesitated, glancing back toward the cabin where his sister was resting. "She’s still exhausted from the last storm, Kai. I don’t want to push her too hard."
"I know," Kai said, his voice heavy with concern. "But if anyone can get us through this, it’s her. We don’t have time to hesitate."
Jay took a deep breath, nodding in agreement. "Alright. I’ll wake her up."
He hurried down to the cabin, the ship lurching beneath him as the storm continued to rage outside. He entered quietly, seeing Mia still lying there, Blackie curled up beside her. Jay hated to wake her, but they had no other choice.
Gently, he placed a hand on her shoulder and shook her awake. "Mia… Mimi, wake up," he called softly, his voice urgent but gentle.
Mia stirred, her eyes fluttering open. "Jay… what’s wrong?" she asked groggily, trying to sit up.
"We’ve got another storm," Jay explained, helping her up. "But this one’s different—worse. We need your help, Mia. We can’t get through it on our own."
Mia blinked, trying to shake off the fatigue that still clung to her. She could see the worry in Jay’s eyes, and that was enough to push her into action. "Alright," she said, nodding resolutely. "Let’s do this."
Jay offered her a supportive smile, then helped her to her feet. "We’ve got this, Mimi. I’ll be right by your side."
As they made their way back up to the deck, the storm seemed to intensify, the wind howling like a living thing. Mia could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on her, but she pushed it aside, focusing on the task at hand.
When they reached the wheel, Kai stepped aside, relief flooding his features as he saw Mia. "I knew you’d come through," he said, trying to be encouraging despite the dire circumstances.
Mia nodded, her determination steeling her nerves. "Let’s get through this," she said firmly, taking the wheel. "But I’m going to need everyone’s help."
Kai and Jay both nodded, ready to do whatever it took to support her. The storm was fierce, but with Mia at the helm, they had a fighting chance. As the ship was tossed by the waves, Mia focused all her energy, drawing on the power of the wind and storm that coursed through her veins. She could feel the tempest around her, wild and untamed, but she was determined to control it.
The ship creaked and groaned under the strain, and the crew held on for dear life. Mia gritted her teeth, pushing herself to the limit as she battled the storm. It was as if the storm itself was testing her, but she wasn’t going to back down.
"We’re with you, Mia!" Jay shouted over the roar of the wind, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You’re not alone!"
With that encouragement, Mia gave one final push, channeling her power with everything she had. Slowly, the storm began to respond, the waves calming just enough for them to regain control of the ship.
It wasn’t easy, and by the time they finally made it through, Mia was exhausted, barely able to stand. But they had done it. The storm had passed, and they were safe, for now.
Lily clapped her flippers together, her eyes wide with admiration. "That was amazing!" she barked excitedly.
Mia, still catching her breath, smiled and translated Lily’s words for the others. "She said it was amazing."
Jay nodded in agreement, his gaze filled with pride. "It really was, Mia. You handled that storm like a pro."
Mia gave a tired but grateful smile. "Thanks, Jay. But it wasn’t just me; it was all of us working together."
She turned to Zane, who had been monitoring their position throughout the ordeal. "Zane, how far are we now?"
Zane glanced at the screen, his calculations swift and precise. "Approximately ten minutes until we reach our destination."
Mia let out a sigh of relief, her shoulders finally relaxing. "Oh, good. We’re almost there." She then clapped her hands together, her energy returning despite the exhaustion. "Come along, then. Let’s get ready and take some pictures!"
The crew quickly sprang into action, preparing for their arrival. The storm had been intense, but now, with the skies clearing and the destination in sight, there was a renewed sense of excitement in the air.
As they approached their destination, Mia took a moment to stand at the bow of the ship, feeling the wind in her hair. Jay and Kai joined her, and even Zane came up from the control room. Lily, ever curious, popped up beside them, and Blackie, still on Mia's shoulder, purred contentedly.
With the storm behind them and the promise of adventure ahead, the group felt ready for whatever came next. They might have faced a challenge, but they had come out stronger on the other side, ready to capture memories of their journey in the beautiful world awaiting them.
As the ship finally docked on the pristine shores of their destination, Jay was the first to leap off, camera in hand. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm, golden light over everything. Jay’s excitement was palpable as he snapped picture after picture, capturing the beauty of the island. The waves gently lapped against the shore, creating a soothing soundtrack as the palm trees swayed in the breeze.
Mia and Lily, however, had different priorities. After ensuring everything was secure on the ship, they made their way down the gangplank, with Lily leading the way. Her excitement was evident in her quick, bouncing steps as she raced ahead, eager to reunite with her family. Mia followed close behind, her eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of them.
As they reached the shoreline, a series of joyful barks echoed across the beach. Mia looked up to see a group of seals lounging on the rocks and in the shallow waters, their sleek bodies glistening in the morning sun. At the forefront of the group was an older, distinguished-looking seal, with graying whiskers and a wise expression.
"Lily!" the older seal barked, his deep voice carrying over the waves. He slipped gracefully into the water and swam towards them, followed by several others.
Lily barked in response, her excitement uncontainable. She rushed into the water to greet them, nuzzling the older seal affectionately. The two seals exchanged a series of barks and trills that Mia, with her bond to Lily, could understand.
"Father!" Lily barked joyfully, swimming circles around the older seal.
"Lily, my dear! It’s been too long," the older seal responded, his voice full of warmth. "You look healthy and strong. Have you been well cared for?"
Mia smiled, stepping into the shallows as Lily’s family gathered around her. "She’s been doing great, sir. We’ve been through quite a bit, but she’s a tough one."
The older seal regarded Mia with a kind gaze. "Thank you for looking after my daughter, young one. We are in your debt."
Lily turned to her father and barked something to him, her tone serious. The older seal nodded, then addressed Mia again. "Lily tells me you’ve done more than just care for her. You’ve saved her life more times than we can count. For that, we wish to show our gratitude."
With that, the seals began to retreat, swimming back to the rocks where they had been resting. Mia watched curiously as they returned, each carrying something in their mouths. The items were placed gently at Mia’s feet as she stood in the shallow water.
The first item was a large, beautifully polished conch shell, its surface glistening with iridescent colors that shimmered in the sunlight. It was an intricate piece, with natural carvings that made it look like a piece of art.
"This conch shell is a rare treasure from the deepest parts of the ocean," the older seal explained. "It is said to bring good fortune and protection to those who carry it."
Mia carefully picked up the shell, turning it over in her hands. It was cool to the touch and fit perfectly in her palm. She smiled and thanked them.
Next, another seal approached, carrying a delicate string of pearls. The pearls were an unusual shade of pale blue, unlike any Mia had seen before. They were strung together on a silver thread, creating a necklace that was both simple and breathtakingly beautiful.
"These are the pearls of the deep, known only to our kind," the seal explained. "They are said to enhance one’s inner strength and resilience."
Mia accepted the necklace with a nod of gratitude, slipping it over her head. The pearls rested against her chest, their coolness soothing against her skin.
The third gift was a small, ornate bottle filled with a glowing liquid. The seal carrying it carefully placed it in Mia’s hands, his expression serious.
"This is the essence of the sea, a potion that can heal even the gravest of wounds," the seal said. "Use it wisely, for it is incredibly rare."
Mia held the bottle up to the light, watching the liquid inside swirl and shimmer with an almost magical glow. She could feel the power within it and knew it was a gift of great value.
Lastly, the older seal himself approached with the final gift. It was a small, intricately carved statue of a seal, made from what appeared to be a single piece of jade. The craftsmanship was exquisite, with every detail of the seal’s form perfectly captured in the smooth, green stone.
"This statue represents our bond of friendship," the older seal said. "It is a symbol of the unbreakable connection between you, Lily, and our family. Keep it close, and know that you will always have allies in the sea."
Mia took the statue, feeling its weight in her hands. It was a beautiful piece, and she could sense the significance behind it. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "I’ll treasure these gifts always."
Lily barked happily, nuzzling Mia’s side. "Father, I told you she’d appreciate them!"
The older seal chuckled, a deep rumbling sound. "You were right, Lily. She is a true friend to our kind."
Jay, who had been quietly taking pictures of the exchange, finally lowered his camera and approached Mia. He looked at the treasures laid out before her, his eyes wide with awe. "Mia… these are incredible. You’re so lucky."
Mia smiled, still holding the jade statue. "It’s not just luck, Jay. It’s friendship."
Jay nodded, his gaze softening. "Yeah, I guess it is."
Mia turned to Lily’s father, who was watching them with a proud expression. "Thank you, sir. Your gifts mean more to me than you know. I’ll do everything I can to protect Lily and uphold our bond."
The older seal nodded, his eyes twinkling with wisdom. "I have no doubt you will, Mia. You’ve proven yourself time and time again. You are always welcome in our waters."
With that, the seals began to disperse, swimming back to their rocky perches or disappearing beneath the waves. Lily lingered a moment longer, giving her father one last affectionate nuzzle before returning to Mia’s side.
Mia looked out at the ocean, feeling a deep sense of peace wash over her. She had come here with the intention of helping Lily reunite with her family, but she had gained so much more in return. The gifts were beautiful, but it was the bond she shared with Lily and her family that she cherished the most.
Jay snapped one last picture of Mia standing with her new treasures, the ocean behind her, and Lily by her side. "This is going to be one for the album," he said with a grin.
Mia laughed, a sound full of joy and contentment. "Yeah, it will be. Let’s make sure to remember this day forever."
With their hearts full and their spirits high, they gathered their things and prepared to return to the ship, ready for the next leg of their journey, knowing they would carry the memories and the bond they had forged here for the rest of their lives.
As they prepared to leave the island, Mia and Jay made their way back to the ship, their arms full of the precious gifts from Lily's family. The sun was now fully risen, casting a bright, golden light over the sea, making it sparkle like diamonds. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore accompanied them as they walked along the beach.
Just as Mia was about to step onto the ship, she turned around one last time to wave goodbye to Lily and her family. "Bye, Lily!" she called out, her voice full of warmth and affection.
Lily, who was resting on a rock with her family, raised her head and barked back. But instead of just a farewell, Lily’s voice carried an unexpected message. "Go to your room! There’s something there!"
Mia paused, her curiosity piqued. She glanced at Jay, who shrugged but seemed just as intrigued. Without another word, she quickly made her way to her cabin, eager to see what surprise awaited her.
As Mia entered her room, she was immediately greeted by a soft, squeaky bark. Her eyes widened in surprise as she saw a small, fluffy seal pup sitting in the middle of her bed. The little seal had large, round eyes that looked up at her with a mix of curiosity and nervousness. Its fur was a pale, silvery gray, still soft and downy from youth.
Mia’s heart melted at the sight. She approached the pup slowly, not wanting to startle it. "Well, hello there," she said gently, kneeling down beside the bed. "What are you doing here?"
Before the pup could respond, Mia heard Lily’s voice in her mind. "She’s an orphan, Mia. Her parents were lost at sea, and she’s been on her own ever since. She chose you and your friends to be her new family."
Mia felt a surge of emotions as she looked at the little seal, who was now cautiously nuzzling her hand. "Oh, you poor thing," she whispered, gently stroking the pup’s soft fur. "Don’t worry. You’re safe with us now."
The seal pup responded with a happy bark, her little tail wagging in delight. Mia couldn’t help but smile as she lifted the pup into her arms, cradling her gently. The pup settled comfortably, resting her head against Mia’s shoulder, clearly content.
Jay, who had followed Mia to her room, peeked inside and saw the scene. His eyes widened in surprise. "Whoa! A baby seal? Where did she come from?"
Mia looked up at Jay, her expression soft. "She’s an orphan, Jay. Lily says she chose us to be her new family."
Jay stepped closer, reaching out to pet the pup. "She’s adorable," he said with a grin. "Looks like we have a new crew member."
The seal pup let out a happy bark in agreement, nuzzling against Mia’s neck. Mia chuckled, feeling a deep sense of responsibility for the little creature. "We’ll take good care of her," she said firmly.
Lily’s voice echoed in her mind once more. "She’s a strong little one, Mia. I’m glad she’s with you. She’ll be happy with your family."
Mia felt a warm glow in her chest as she looked down at the pup. "I promise to take good care of her, Lily. She’ll be loved here."
The pup, sensing the love and warmth in Mia’s words, cuddled closer to her, letting out a contented sigh. Jay, still grinning, took out his camera and snapped a picture of Mia holding the seal pup, capturing the sweet moment.
"Looks like we’ve got a new addition to the family," Jay said, his voice filled with excitement. "What are you going to name her?"
Mia thought for a moment, looking down at the pup’s innocent, trusting eyes. "How about Coral?" she suggested. "It suits her, don’t you think?"
The pup responded with an enthusiastic bark, as if agreeing with her new name. Mia laughed and nodded. "Coral it is, then."
With Coral safely in her arms, Mia and Jay made their way back up to the deck, where the rest of the crew was waiting. As they introduced Coral to everyone, the little seal quickly won over their hearts, her playful nature and cute antics bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.
As they sailed away from the island, Mia stood at the bow of the ship, Coral nestled comfortably in her arms. She waved one last time to Lily and her family, who watched them go from the shore. Lily barked a final farewell, and Mia knew that, even though they were leaving, their bond would remain strong.
Mia looked down at Coral, who was now dozing peacefully in her arms, and felt a deep sense of contentment. She knew that Coral was more than just a new friend; she was a reminder of the incredible bond they shared with the creatures of the sea, and the adventures they had yet to come.
