Senario Two- JAY ( still)
The next day, a simmering tension crackled in the air as Mia approached Jay. Gone was the hesitant girl of yesterday, replaced by a determined young woman with a steely glint in her eyes. Kai and Nya followed anxiously, their gazes flitting between them.
"Jay," Mia said, her voice clipped yet firm. "We need to talk."
Jay, leaning against a park bench, shrugged nonchalantly. "About what? How overbearing administration can be?"
Mia clenched her fists. The memory of his harsh words still stung. "No," she forced out, trying to control the rising anger. "About your past. About who you really are."
Jay scoffed. "Who I really am? I told you, I'm Jay Walker, realm reassignment manager. Not some amnesia-ridden ninja hero."
A low growl rumbled from deep within Mia. It started subtly, a tremor in the air, before rising in volume, a warning growl from a predator about to pounce. Kai and Nya exchanged panicked glances. They knew the signs. This wasn't good.
"Mia," Kai hissed, his voice tight with urgency. "Calm down. Remember what we talked about."
Mia squeezed her eyes shut, trying to wrestle control of the swirling emotions inside her. She couldn't let her lion out, not here, not in front of Jay. But every dismissive word, every shred of denial from him, fueled the tempest within.
Suddenly, a gust of wind whipped around them, swirling with an unnatural force. Leaves danced in a chaotic frenzy, and the air crackled with raw energy. Jay stumbled back, a flicker of fear replacing his earlier bravado.
Mia opened her eyes, a wild golden glow emanating from them. Her hair, usually a gentle brown, whipped around her face, infused with streaks of gold. The growl reached a crescendo, a fearsome roar that echoed through the park.
Kai lunged forward, grabbing her shoulders. "Mia! Fight it! You can't let it control you!" But the wind pushes him back.
Nya, tears welling in her eyes, reached for her other hand. "We're here for you, Mia. Remember that!"
"Don't," Kai shouted, rushing forward. He grabbed Mia's arm, his touch grounding her slightly. "It won't help."
Mia whirled on him, her eyes blazing with a feral intensity. "He doesn't remember me, Kai! He doesn't even care!" Another growl escaped her lips, this time louder, sending shivers down Jay's spine.
She looked at Jay, who looked back at her with a mixture of fear and... something else? A flicker of recognition, perhaps?
Mia, her voice hoarse, choked out, "I... I'm sorry. I just... I want my brother back."
The tension in the park hung heavy, the silence broken only by Mia's ragged breaths. Would the fierce display of power jog Jay's memory? Or had she just pushed him further away?
But he suprised them. His eyes widened, and he gasped.
" Mia?!" He cried.
" I knew it!" She yelled, running to his arms and jumping into the air. Jay caught her and spun her so much she had to laugh and say, " I'm here, and I'm getting dizzy!"
Mia's laugh, shaky at first, filled the tense air, a welcome melody after the storm. In Jay's arms, she felt a jolt of electricity - not painful, but a familiar tingle that sparked a memory within her. It was faint, a hazy image of a younger Jay, his hair sparking with static after messing with a toaster.
"Mia?" Jay repeated, his voice a mix of disbelief and dawning recognition. "Is that really you?"
Tears welled up in Mia's eyes again, this time tears of relief. "Yes, it's me! Your crazy wind ninja sister!" she exclaimed, pulling back from the hug to scrutinize his face.
Before Jay could say anything else, a blur of blue tackled him from the side. Nya, her arms wrapped tight around him, choked out a watery sob. "Jay! You're back! We thought we lost you forever!"
The sight of Nya's tears finally broke the dam in Jay's own eyes. He hugged her back fiercely, a wave of unfamiliar emotions washing over him. He could feel a connection, a deep bond with these two women, even though his memories remained fragmented.
Kai, who had been watching the reunion unfold with a hesitant smile, finally cleared his throat. "Uh, hello there, Mister Lightning," he said, offering a tentative hand.
To everyone's surprise, Jay pulled him into a hug as well. Laughter bubbled up from Kai's chest, a sound he vaguely recognized from a distant dream. "Okay, okay, I get it," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I'm really amazing."
Pulling back from the hug, Jay brushed a tear from his cheek. "So," he said, his voice still shaky, "tell me everything. Who am I? What's this whole ninja business about?"
Mia and Nya grinned at each other. They had a lot of stories to tell.
"Alright," Mia began, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "So, you're this amazing ninja who controls lightning. You're also married to the beautiful and talented Nya right here," she gestured towards her sister in law, who blushed a pretty pink.
"Married?" Jay repeated, eyebrows shooting up. "Whoa, hold on a second. Married?"
Nya swatted him playfully on the arm. "Yes, married, goofball. We've been married for a few years now."
Jay gaped at her, his hand instinctively reaching to touch the non-existent ring finger on his left hand. A strange sense of warmth bloomed in his chest at the thought of being married to Nya. Maybe the memories were fragmented, but the connection, the affection, felt undeniably real.
" You have a Yin- Yang medalion. Not a ring." Kai called.
"And," Mia continued, barely containing her excitement, " you guys are going to have kids! Tiny little ninjas to run around and wreak havoc."
Nya's blush deepened to a fiery red. "Mia!" she exclaimed. "First of all, kids?! We never talked about kids!"
Jay, ever the jokester, chimed in, adding to the chaos. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down there, speedster! I might not remember everything, but I know for sure I'm too young for kids!"
Kai, finally finding his voice, chuckled. "Don't worry, Jay. You're not exactly old, but you're definitely not the youngest anymore. Cole's been complaining that you abandoned your post as resident video game champion."
"What?" Jay sputtered, a playful frown creasing his face. "Cole's been playing on my account? Does he even know how to use my super-secret unbeatable strategy for—"
He stopped himself, a flicker of frustration crossing his features. The familiar sting of forgotten knowledge pricked at him. He clenched his fists, a surge of determination battling the frustration. He may not remember everything, but he wouldn't let that stop him from reconnecting with his family, his team.
Mia, sensing his internal struggle, placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Hey," she said gently, "we'll figure it all out together. One memory at a time."
Jay looked at his team, his former life slowly coming into focus. He saw love, acceptance, and a hint of playful teasing in their eyes. It wasn't a complete picture yet, but it was a start. A good start.
He squeezed Mia's hand, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Alright," he said, his voice filled with newfound determination. "Tell me everything about this ninja life. And Cole better not have messed up my high score!"
