Rescue

One afternoon, Mia was sitting in the living room, a mischievous smile on her face as she admired a picture she had secretly kept-a snapshot from her infamous camping escape room challenge. The picture captured the moment when Jay, Cole, and Kai, in their dazed and exhausted state, had been forced into an awkward group hug.

Jay, passing by, noticed the photo in her hands. His eyes widened in shock. "You didn't throw that away?!" he exclaimed, his voice a mix of disbelief and urgency.

Mia looked up at him, her grin growing wider. "Nope!" she chirped, holding the picture up just out of his reach.

Jay's face turned serious as he took a step closer. "Give it to me, Mia!"

But Mia was quicker. She grabbed the picture tightly and bolted out of the room, sprinting down the hallway. "Catch me if you can!" she called over her shoulder, laughter in her voice.

"MI-AHH!" Jay yelled, charging after her. "GIVE IT TO ME!"

The commotion drew the attention of Cole and Kai, who were lounging in the kitchen. They exchanged confused glances as they heard the shouting and the rapid footsteps echoing through the house.

"What's going on?" Cole asked, peeking out the kitchen door just as Jay dashed past in hot pursuit of his sister.

Kai shrugged, looking puzzled. "I don't know, but it sounds like something big."

Before they could figure it out, Jay looped back around, frustration etched on his face. "Remember that escape room camping? When she made us hug?" Jay panted, pointing in the direction Mia had fled. "She has the picture!"

Kai and Cole's eyes widened in unison. "Still?!" they both exclaimed, their voices a mix of shock and mild horror.

"Unfortunately," Jay grumbled, trying to catch his breath.

For a moment, there was a tense silence as Kai and Cole processed this revelation. Then, without a word, Kai's eyes narrowed, and he took off running, his determination clear. "GET HER!" he shouted as he sprinted down the hall, Cole not far behind him.

Jay, who had barely caught his breath, joined in the chase once more, yelling, "Don't let her get away!"

The house was filled with the sound of their frantic footsteps, laughter, and the occasional crash as they knocked into furniture while trying to corner Mia. She was fast and agile, weaving through rooms and dodging their attempts to grab the picture.

Mia's laughter rang out as she darted into another room, but with all three boys now on her tail, her escape routes were narrowing. "You'll never catch me!" she taunted, clearly enjoying the chaos she'd created.

But the boys were determined. "Oh, we'll catch you," Cole muttered, focused on the chase. "And when we do, that picture is going straight into the shredder!"

With Kai leading the charge, Jay and Cole close behind, they closed in on Mia. She was quick, but with three determined boys chasing her, she was running out of options.

Finally, cornered in the living room, Mia held the picture behind her back, grinning. "Okay, okay, truce!" she laughed.

The three boys closed in, panting and out of breath but victorious. "Hand it over, Mia," Jay said, holding out his hand, his voice firm.

Mia hesitated for a moment, her mischievous grin still in place. Then, with a sigh of mock defeat, she handed over the picture. "You guys are no fun," she pouted playfully.

Jay took the picture and held it up triumphantly. "We're plenty of fun. Just not when it comes to embarrassing pictures."

Kai and Cole nodded in agreement, still catching their breath. "Next time, we're hiding the cameras," Kai joked, ruffling Mia's hair as they all collapsed onto the couch, the tension easing into laughter.

Mia, though a bit out of breath herself, just giggled. "We'll see about that," she said, already plotting her next move.

Just as the boys were starting to relax, thinking the ordeal was over, Mia's grin returned. With a casual shrug, she reached into her pocket and pulled out another picture-the exact same one. "Ah well," she said with a playful smirk, "at least I printed a bunch of them. And it's in my photos too."

The room fell silent as the boys stared at the new picture in Mia's hand.

Jay's eyes widened in horror. "You... you what?!"

Cole groaned, slumping back into the couch. "Mia, you're a menace."

Kai shook his head, trying to suppress a grin. "She's ten steps ahead of us."

Mia twirled the picture in her fingers, clearly enjoying every second of their reactions. "Yep! And I've got plenty more where this came from. So, if you think you can get rid of them all... good luck!" She winked at them, her mischievous energy completely undeterred.

Jay buried his face in his hands. "This is never going to end, is it?"

"Nope!" Mia said, beaming.

Kai and Cole looked at each other, then back at Jay. "We need a new plan," Kai muttered.

Cole nodded in agreement, though a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Yeah, and maybe next time, we'll just go along with whatever she wants. Less dangerous that way."

Mia burst into laughter, clearly thrilled with how things had turned out. "Don't worry, guys," she teased. "I'll go easy on you next time... maybe."

Jay, finally accepting defeat, looked at Mia and sighed. "Just promise me one thing."

Mia raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"

"Promise me you won't use these pictures for blackmail... at least not too often," Jay said with a small smile.

Mia pretended to think about it for a moment before grinning. "I'll think about it."

As the boys all groaned in unison, Mia laughed, knowing she'd won this round-and probably a few more to come.

Just as the boys were trying to recover from their latest ordeal, Lloyd burst into the room, looking a bit frantic. "Hey, guys! There's a cat stuck in a tree at the park!"

Mia's ears perked up immediately. "What?! A cat in distress? I'm on it!" She jumped up, already heading for the door.

But Jay quickly blocked her path, holding out his hands. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Mia, hold on! You've already taken 15 other missions today. You need to rest!"

Mia tried to sidestep him, her determination evident. "But it's a cat, Jay! I can't just leave it stuck up there!"

Jay sighed, knowing how stubborn his sister could be when it came to helping others. "I get it, Mia, but you're going to run yourself into the ground. You've been going non-stop. You need to take a break."

Kai chimed in, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, Mia. You've been running all over the place. Let someone else handle it this time."

Even Cole, still recovering from their camping escape room fiasco, gave her a concerned look. "Seriously, Mia. You can't save everyone all the time. Let someone else take care of the cat."

Mia pouted, crossing her arms. "But..."

Lloyd, seeing the tension in the room, stepped in with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Mia. I've already called for backup. The others can handle it. You should listen to Jay and take it easy."

Mia glanced at Jay, then at the door, clearly torn between wanting to help and knowing her brother was right. Finally, she sighed and threw her hands up in defeat. "Fine... but only because you guys won't let me go."

Jay smiled, relieved. "Thanks, Mia. We just want you to stay healthy, okay?"

Mia nodded, though she still looked a bit disappointed. "Okay, okay. But next time, I'm not sitting out!"

Jay laughed and ruffled her hair. "Deal. But for now, just relax."

Mia plopped down on the couch, still antsy but finally agreeing to rest. "I'll relax... but if that cat isn't rescued in five minutes, I'm going."

Kai grinned. "Fair enough, Mia. Fair enough."

Sure enough, five minutes passed, and the cat was still stuck in the tree. Mia, unable to sit still any longer, shot a determined look at the door.

"Okay, that's it," she muttered, getting up from the couch. With a swift movement, she dashed out of the house, leaving Jay, Kai, and Cole behind.

Rushing to the park, Jay barely had time to catch his breath before he saw Mia perched high up in the tree, cradling the frightened cat in her arms. She floated down effortlessly, using her wind powers to gently lower herself to the ground.

"Mia!" Jay called out, exasperation clear in his voice as he jogged over to her. "What are you doing?!"

Mia landed gracefully, a satisfied smile on her face as she handed the cat to its grateful owner. "Relaxing," she replied casually, as if this was the most natural way to unwind.

Jay shook his head, unable to suppress a grin despite his frustration. "Relaxing, huh? Is that what we're calling it now?"

Mia just shrugged with a cheeky grin. "Well, it wasn't relaxing knowing that the poor cat was still stuck. Now that it's safe, I can actually rest."

Jay chuckled, realizing there was no stopping Mia once she had her mind set on something. "Alright, you win this time. But seriously, Mia, you need to take it easy."

Mia nodded, though Jay knew better than to believe she would stay put for long. "I will, Jay. I promise."

As they walked back together, Jay couldn't help but admire his sister's tenacity. Even when told to take a break, Mia's idea of relaxing was still rescuing someone in need. It was just who she was-unstoppable, caring, and always ready to leap into action.

" Mia, you need to eat." Zane commented when they got home."

" I ate." Mia replied, nonchalantly.

Zane raised an eyebrow at Mia's casual statement. "You already ate? When?" he asked, clearly skeptical.

Mia gave a nonchalant wave. "This morning. I'm fine, Zane. But I really need to go now-there's a guy stuck in a tree, and he's juggling a bee nest."

Zane's expression shifted from concern to incredulity. "Mia, that's... definitely not normal. And I highly doubt you ate enough to keep up with all this running around."

But Mia was already moving toward the door, her mind focused on the next mission. "I'm serious, Zane. I'll grab something on the way, okay? I can't just leave him up there-he's going to get stung!"

Zane sighed, knowing it was futile to argue with her when she was like this. "At least take a sandwich with you. And be careful, Mia-bees can be dangerous."

Mia gave him a quick nod, grabbing the sandwich Zane handed her. "Thanks, Zane! I'll be back before you know it."

And with that, she was out the door, heading toward her next rescue mission, the sandwich barely halfway to her mouth before she was fully focused on the task at hand.

Zane watched her go, shaking his head with a mix of amusement and worry. "She's going to run herself ragged one of these days," he muttered to himself, hoping Mia would finally slow down-at least long enough to eat a proper meal.

* Half an hour later*

Mia walked into the house half an hour later, looking as energetic as ever. But her finger told a different story-it was swollen and red, clearly stung by one of the bees she had been trying to rescue the man from. Thankfully, no one had noticed her discomfort on the way home.

Zane, who had been waiting for her return, gave her a once-over. "You're back. Did you finally eat?" he asked, his tone laced with concern.

Mia waved her hand dismissively, though she was careful to keep her injured finger out of sight. "Yes, I ate, okay, Zane? Can you stop worrying now?"

Zane raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced but letting it slide for now. "Alright, if you say so. But you should really take it easy."

Mia gave a quick nod, already moving past him. "Yeah, yeah, I will. But first, if you'll excuse me, Blackie needs food."

As she headed toward the kitchen to feed her sassy cat, Mia silently winced at the throbbing pain in her finger. She knew she should probably do something about it, but for now, she had more pressing matters-like making sure Blackie was fed. Besides, it was just a bee sting. Nothing she couldn't handle.

Zane watched her go, a mix of concern and resignation in his eyes. "One day, Mia," he muttered, "you're going to have to admit you're not invincible." But for now, he let her be, knowing all too well that Mia was as stubborn as they came.

Mia quickly fed Blackie, who meowed in appreciation before sauntering off to his favorite napping spot. With her feline friend taken care of, Mia slipped into the bathroom. She carefully applied cream to her swollen, bee-stung finger, wincing slightly as the ointment soothed the irritated skin. After wrapping it in a small bandage, she admired her handiwork in the mirror, satisfied that it looked like nothing more than a minor injury.

Just as she finished, Jay walked by and noticed her bandaged finger. "What happened to your finger?" he asked, curiosity in his voice.

Mia barely missed a beat. "Oh, it's just a paper cut," she said casually, waving her hand. "I was filing some papers earlier, and it got me."

Jay nodded, seemingly accepting the explanation. "Those can be the worst," he commented, shuddering slightly at the thought.

Before the conversation could go any further, the phone rang, cutting through the quiet of the house. Mia's ears perked up as she grabbed it off the counter. "Hello?" she answered.

There was a pause, and then her expression grew serious. "There's a fire?" she repeated, her voice calm but with a hint of urgency.

Jay's eyes widened, realizing what was coming next. "Mia-" he began, but it was too late.

"On my way!" Mia said, already heading for the door, her injured finger forgotten in the rush of adrenaline.

"Mia, wait!" Jay called after her, but she was already out the door, leaving him shaking his head in exasperation. "She never stops," he muttered to himself, grabbing his gear to follow her.

" Guys?" He yelled. " There's an emergency!"

Nya heard the urgency in Jay's voice and immediately sprang into action. "What happened?" she asked, already halfway through putting on her gear.

"There's a fire!" Jay replied, grabbing his own d equipment and putting his mask on. "Mia's already on her way!"

Nya didn't waste a second. She pulled her mask over her face. "Let's go!" she said, her voice determined. She knew Mia was capable, but they couldn't let her handle this alone.

The two of them dashed out of the house, their minds focused on the task ahead. Jay's heart pounded as he thought about Mia rushing headlong into danger, as she always did. He just hoped they'd catch up to her in time.

The sky was already tinged with the orange glow of the fire in the distance. Nya and Jay sprinted down the street, their feet barely touching the ground as they pushed themselves to move faster. They knew every second counted.

When they arrived at the scene, the fire was already roaring, licking at the sides of a building with dangerous intensity. The heat was almost unbearable even from a distance. And there, in the midst of the chaos, was Mia, directing people away from the blaze with calm authority.

"Mia!" Jay shouted, but she was too focused on the task at hand to hear him. He could see her coordinating the evacuation, making sure everyone got out safely. Typical Mia, throwing herself into the heart of the action without a second thought.

Nya and Jay quickly joined the effort, working alongside the firefighters to contain the flames. The air was thick with smoke, making it hard to see, but they didn't stop. They couldn't stop.

Nya used the water from the hydrants to put the fire out, but it wasn't enough. Mia, seeing this, knew what she had to do. Without a second thought, she flew up and sprayed the building with water.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the flames began to die down. The fire was under control, thanks to their combined efforts. Mia emerged from the smoke, her face smudged with soot, but her eyes were bright with determination.

Nya pulled off her mask and approached Mia, who was checking on a family she'd helped escape. "You okay?" Nya asked, concern in her voice.

Mia nodded, brushing some ash off her sleeve. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said, her voice steady. "Just doing what needed to be done."

Jay walked over, panting slightly from the exertion. "You scared us, Mia," he said, his tone a mix of relief and frustration. "You don't always have to do everything on your own, you know."

Mia smiled at him, the adrenaline still pumping through her veins. "I know," she said softly. "But sometimes I just have to."

As they were making their way back, the air was still heavy with the smell of smoke. Mia suddenly froze, and her sharp eyes caught sight of something alarming in the distance- Jake was in the midst of a struggle with a dangerous-looking criminal. The man was much larger than Jake, and it was clear the boy was outmatched.

Without a second thought, Mia sprang into action. She sprinted towards the scene, her heart racing. As she got closer, she pushed off the ground, using her agility to run along the walls, propelling herself forward with lightning speed. "Jake, go!" she yelled as she approached, her voice carrying through the chaotic street.

Jake hesitated for a split second, his eyes wide as he saw Mia coming towards him. "You sure?" he called back, unsure whether to leave her alone with the criminal.

"Yes!" Mia shouted, not slowing down. She didn't have time to argue. "Go, now!"

Trusting her completely, Jake turned and sprinted towards Jay, who had just caught sight of the commotion. "Mia's got this," he muttered to himself, though his heart pounded with worry as he kept an eye on her.

Mia didn't waste a moment. As soon as Jake was clear, she focused her energy, summoning the power of the wind within her. With a fierce determination in her eyes, she unleashed a powerful blast of wind, knocking the criminal off balance. The man stumbled, trying to resist the force, but Mia wasn't done yet.

She called upon the wind again, this time creating a harsh, swirling breeze that whipped around her, sending dust and debris flying. The gale was so strong it messed up her hair, but Mia didn't care. She used the wind to lift herself into the air, and with a final burst of power, she directed the wind towards the criminal, sending him flying backwards.

The man hit the ground hard, completely disoriented by the sudden onslaught. Before he could recover, Mia swooped down, using the wind to propel herself forward. She grabbed the criminal by the collar and, with a powerful thrust, flew him away from the scene, ensuring he was far from anyone he could harm.

As Mia landed back on the ground, her chest heaving from the exertion, Jay finally caught up to her. He looked at her, his eyes wide with awe. "That was intense," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of admiration and concern.

Mia, still catching her breath, nodded. Her hair was wild from the wind, and her face was flushed, but she gave Jay a small, confident smile. "Just another day," she said, trying to downplay the danger she had just faced.

Jay shook his head, unable to suppress a grin. "You never cease to amaze me, Mia," he said, his tone softening. "But maybe next time, let someone else take the lead?"

Mia chuckled, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face. "Maybe," she replied, though the twinkle in her eye suggested she wasn't ready to step back anytime soon.

When they finally got home, Kai was the first to speak up. His voice was firm, but there was a hint of concern in his eyes as he looked at Mia. "You really need to rest, Mia. You've been pushing yourself way too hard today."

Mia, still buzzing with energy despite everything she’d been through, sighed. “Fine,” she agreed, though she didn’t sound too thrilled about it. But after a moment, her face brightened with an idea. “You wanna play a board game?”

Kai raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sudden shift. “A board game?” he repeated, not expecting that at all.

Mia nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! Come on, it'll be fun. We never get to just hang out and relax.”

Kai chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re something else, you know that? But alright, let’s do it. Which game do you have in mind?”

Mia grinned mischievously. “How about we let the dice decide?” she suggested, already heading to the shelf where they kept the board games. “You’ll have to choose wisely, though—I’m not going easy on you!”

Kai laughed, feeling a sense of relief that Mia was finally taking a break, even if it was just for a board game. “Bring it on,” he said, following her to the shelf. “But don’t be surprised if I win.”

“Yeah, right,” Mia teased, already pulling out a game. “We’ll see about that.”

Just as Mia and Kai were setting up the board game, Pixel’s voice crackled through the communicator. “Mia, Fuji Dove escaped!”

Mia froze, eyes wide. “What?!”

Pixel continued, “The situation is getting out of hand. We need you to—"

Mia cut her off, already grabbing her gear. “Love you, Kai! I’ll play later, I promise! Don’t move anything, bye!” She dashed out of the room, leaving the game half-set up.

Jay and Cole, who had been lounging nearby, just stared after her in disbelief. “Pix, she was supposed to be resting!” Jay protested, his voice tinged with frustration.

Pixel responded calmly, though there was a note of urgency. “Apologies, but Mia was the best option for this mission. I’ll make sure she rests afterward.”

Cole sighed, shaking his head. “That girl never takes a break. We’ll have to make sure she doesn’t burn out.”

Jay nodded in agreement. “Yeah. Next time, we’re hiding the communicator.”

.......

Thirty minutes later, Mia burst back into the room, covered from head to toe in white feathers. They were stuck in her hair, clinging to her clothes, and even floating around her as she moved. She looked like she had been through a pillow fight with a hundred birds.

Jay and Cole, who had been waiting anxiously, couldn’t help but burst into laughter as soon as they saw her. “What happened to you?” Jay asked between fits of giggles.

Mia sighed, clearly exasperated. “Let’s just say Fuji Dove didn’t come quietly. I had to chase him through a whole flock of doves. This is what I get for being the ‘best option.’”

Cole grinned, trying to stifle his laughter. “You look like a walking feather duster.”

Mia gave him a mock glare, then looked down at herself, flicking a few feathers off her sleeve. “Well, at least Fuji’s back where he belongs… but next time, someone else is dealing with him. I need a shower.”

Kai, who had been quietly setting the board game pieces back up, glanced at her with a smile. “You sure you don’t want to finish the game first?”

Mia shook her head, still pulling feathers from her hair. “No way. Shower first, then maybe… just maybe, I’ll consider playing.” She turned and headed for the bathroom, leaving a trail of feathers behind her.

As she disappeared down the hallway, Jay picked up one of the stray feathers and chuckled. “Next time, we really are hiding that communicator.”

* An hour later*

Jay tiptoed down the hallway, trying not to make too much noise. Mia had been in the bathroom for what felt like forever, and he was starting to get worried. He knocked softly on the door. "Mia? You okay in there?"

There was a brief pause before Mia's voice floated back, cheerful and relaxed. "I'm fine, Jay!"

Curiosity got the better of him, so he cautiously cracked the door open. What he saw made him do a double-take.

Mia was lounging in a massive bubble bath, completely relaxed. Surrounding her were tiny, fluffy yellow chicks, happily splashing in the water and pecking at bubbles. She had arranged the bubbles into a tall, foamy crown on her head and had clearly been busy naming her new feathery friends.

“This is Lily,” Mia said, holding up a chick that chirped in response. “And this little one here is Candy Cane.” She pointed to another chick with a slightly fluffier tail. “And over here we have Mr. Tophat—he’s got a little spot on his head, see?”

Jay blinked, trying to process the scene in front of him. “Mia… where did you even get all these chicks?”

Mia shrugged, smiling as she petted Mr. Tophat. “I found them in the garden when I was walking back from the Fuji Dove mission. They looked lost, so I thought they could use a nice warm bath.”

Jay leaned against the doorframe, shaking his head in disbelief but smiling all the same. “You know, you’re supposed to be resting, not… starting a chick daycare in the bathtub.”

Mia laughed softly. “This is relaxing! And they’re so cute, how could I resist?”

Jay sighed, deciding not to argue. “Well, don’t stay in there too long. You don’t want to turn into a raisin.”

Mia grinned. “I won’t, promise. But first, I need to finish naming the rest of these little guys.” She picked up another chick, considering. “I think I’ll call this one… Marshmallow.”

Jay just shook his head, chuckling as he closed the door. “Only Mia,” he muttered to himself as he walked away, still smiling at the thought of his sister surrounded by bubbles and baby chicks.

Jay couldn't wait to share what he'd just witnessed with the others. He found Kai and Cole in the living room, going over some plans, and wasted no time in blurting out, “You guys won’t believe what Mia’s up to.”

Kai looked up, raising an eyebrow. “What is it this time?”

“Mia’s in the bathroom… with an army of chicks,” Jay said, trying to keep a straight face. “And they’re all decked out in collars and cute little accessories.”

Kai blinked in disbelief. “Wait, what? Chicks? As in baby chickens?”

Jay nodded, struggling not to laugh. “Yup. She named them all too. You should see it—it’s ridiculous.”

Cole smirked. “You’re joking, right? Mia? Chickens?”

Before Jay could respond, they heard the sound of little feet—lots of them—coming from down the hallway. They all turned toward the noise, and sure enough, Mia appeared, walking into the living room with an entourage of tiny, fluffy chicks following her. Each chick was adorned with a miniature collar, some with tiny bows, others with little bells that jingled softly as they waddled along. A few of them even had tiny hats perched on their heads, like Mr. Tophat from earlier, making them look almost like they were dressed for some grand event.

Mia was grinning from ear to ear, clearly pleased with herself. The chicks followed her in perfect formation, chirping happily as they explored the room. One particularly bold chick, Marshmallow, flapped its tiny wings and landed right on Kai’s head, perching there as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Kai froze, eyes wide as he slowly looked up, as if trying to see the little chick now nestled in his hair. “Mia… what in the world is going on?”

Mia, still grinning, gently called out, “Marshmallow! Come down from Kai’s head!”

But Marshmallow seemed quite content where he was, chirping softly as it nestled further into Kai’s hair. Kai sighed, reaching up cautiously to lift the chick off his head. “Seriously, Mia, where did you find these chicks? And why do they look like they’re ready for a fashion show?”

Mia shrugged, nonchalantly. “I found them outside after the Fuji Dove mission. They looked like they needed a little love, so I decided to give them a makeover.”

Kai gently placed Marshmallow back on the floor, where it immediately joined the others, pecking at the ground as if nothing had happened. “A makeover?” he repeated, incredulous. “They’re chickens, Mia!”

“Not just any chickens,” Mia corrected, crouching down to adjust the tiny bow on one of the chicks. “These are special. And they needed some accessories to match their personalities.”

Cole, who had been watching the whole scene with growing amusement, finally burst out laughing. “You’re something else, Mia. Seriously. Who else would turn a bunch of chicks into a fashion parade?”

Mia beamed. “Well, they deserve to look their best, don’t they? Plus, they’re adorable!”

Jay shook his head, still smiling. “You never fail to surprise us, Mia. But I’ve got to admit, this is pretty cute.”

Just then, one of the chicks with a tiny bell around its neck started pecking at Cole’s shoe, as if inspecting it. “Looks like they’ve taken a liking to you, Cole,” Jay teased.

Cole looked down at the chick, who was now trying to climb up his leg. “Great. First cake jokes, now chicks. What’s next?”

Mia laughed, reaching over to scoop up the adventurous chick. “Don’t worry, they just want to say hi. Besides, I think they might actually like you.”

Kai, still a bit bewildered by the whole situation, just shook his head. “Mia, I’ve seen a lot of strange things in my time, but this… this might take the cake.”

Mia gave him a cheeky grin. “Just wait until you see the outfits I’m planning for them tomorrow.”

Kai groaned, running a hand through his hair. “Let’s just make sure they don’t end up in my room, okay?”

Mia winked. “No promises.”

As the chicks continued to explore the living room, chirping and jingling their bells, the group couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Despite the absurdity of it all, there was something undeniably charming about the scene.

“Alright, alright,” Jay finally said, chuckling. “But seriously, Mia, maybe next time let’s stick to normal pets, okay?”

Mia just laughed, scooping up a few more of the chicks to give them a cuddle. “Where’s the fun in that?”

And with that, the room was filled with the sound of laughter and the soft chirping of Mia’s little army of chicks, who seemed perfectly content with their newfound life of luxury and accessories.

Mia had clearly put a lot of thought into her little flock. Each of the nine chicks was perfectly outfitted to represent one of the ninja—or close enough, anyway. The tiny collars were made of soft fabric, with colors chosen to match the person they symbolized.

The first chick, Marshmallow, wore a silver collar, representing Zane. The little chick was the calmest of the group, often standing still and watching the others with an almost serene demeanor, just like Zane himself.

Next, there was Candy Cane, a chick with a bright blue collar, symbolizing Jay. She was quick on her feet, always darting around and chirping excitedly, much like Jay’s energetic personality.

For Kai, there was Flame, a chick with a red collar. Flame was particularly feisty, often challenging the other chicks playfully, showing off that fiery spirit that was so much like Kai’s.

Cole’s chick, Boulder, had a solid brown collar. Boulder was the biggest of the group, a bit more grounded and steady in his movements, reminiscent of Cole’s strong and reliable nature.

Nya’s chick, Wave, wore a teal collar. Wave had a gentle yet determined nature, often taking the lead when the chicks explored new areas, just like Nya’s confident and guiding presence.

Pixel’s chick, Circuit, had a purple collar. Circuit was curious, always pecking at anything new and trying to figure out how things worked, much like Pixel’s inquisitive mind and technological prowess.

Sensei Wu’s chick, Wisdom, had a pristine white collar. Wisdom often stayed close to Mia, as if offering silent guidance, a fitting tribute to Wu’s calm and wise influence.

Then there was a chick with a bright green collar for Lloyd, Lily. She was a bit of a leader among the chicks, nudging them in the right direction whenever they seemed lost, just like Lloyd’s role as the leader of the group.

Finally, for herself, Mia had chosen a chick with a pink collar, Mr. Tophat. He was full of energy, often the first to try something new, mirroring Mia’s own adventurous spirit.

Mia looked down at her little flock, a proud smile on her face. Each chick was a tiny, adorable reflection of the ninja, and they seemed perfectly content with their roles.

As the chicks explored the living room, their little collars jingling softly, Mia couldn’t help but chuckle. “Look at them,” she said, gesturing to the group. “They’re like a miniature version of us!”

Kai, still slightly bewildered by the whole situation, nodded slowly. “I guess I see the resemblance.”

Jay crouched down to get a better look at Sky, who was pecking curiously at his shoelaces. “You really outdid yourself this time, Mia. They’re actually pretty cute.”

Mia grinned, reaching out to pick up Marshmallow from Kai’s side. “They each have their own personality, just like us. And they’re going to stay with us for a while.”

Cole, who had Boulder perched on his knee, chuckled. “Just as long as they don’t start acting too much like us. I’m not sure I’m ready for a chick with Kai’s temper.”

Kai shot him a look. “Very funny, Cole.”

Mia, still beaming, glanced at the rest of the group. “I thought they could be our little mascots. You know, a reminder that even when things get tough, there’s always something small and cute to keep us smiling.”

The others couldn’t argue with that. Despite the absurdity of having nine chicks running around the house, there was something undeniably heartwarming about it. The chicks were more than just pets—they were a little bit of joy in a sometimes chaotic world.

“Well, I guess we’re stuck with them,” Jay said, standing up and brushing off his hands. “But you better make sure they don’t get into any trouble, Mia.”

Mia just smiled, looking down at her fluffy, feathered friends. “Don’t worry, I’ve got it under control. After all, they’re part of the family now.”
