Nya's Check up

PS. Yes, I do call Jay and Nya husband and Wife. I don't know why. I just like it.

Nya sat in the waiting room, her hands fidgeting nervously in her lap. The normally composed and fierce Water Ninja felt out of place here, her heart racing as she tried to keep her anxiety at bay. The soft hum of the overhead lights and the distant sound of shuffling papers did little to calm her nerves. She was the only one there, and the emptiness of the room only amplified her worries.

She wasn't used to feeling this way-this sense of vulnerability. But today, she couldn't shake it. Something about being here made her feel small, like all the strength she usually possessed had been sapped away.

Suddenly, the door to the back opened, and she heard a familiar voice call her name. "Nya?"

She froze, her heart skipping a beat. It was Jay. She hadn't expected him to be here, and now that he was, a mix of relief and worry flooded her senses. She couldn't bring herself to move, her feet glued to the spot as her mind raced.

Jay, seeing his wife sitting there, her face pale and her eyes wide with anxiety, felt a surge of concern. He was surprised to see her-Nya, the fierce, fearless woman he adored-looking so out of sorts. Without a second thought, he hurried over to her, his voice filled with worry as he called out, "Oh my goodness, Nya!"

He reached her in seconds, wrapping her in a warm, tight hug. The instant his arms encircled her, Nya felt some of the tension melt away, but she couldn't shake the lingering fear that had brought her here.

"Nya," Jay murmured, his voice soft and soothing as he held her close. "What's going on? Why are you here?"

Nya couldn't speak at first, just buried her face in his shoulder, taking in his familiar scent-one that always made her feel safe. She whimpered, her body trembling slightly as she tried to find the words.

Jay pulled back slightly, his hands gently cradling her face as he looked into her eyes, worry etched across his features. "Hey, it's okay. Whatever it is, we'll figure it out together."

Seeing how distressed she was, Jay led her over to a nearby couch, guiding her to sit down. He sat beside her, keeping his arm around her shoulders, and pulled her into another hug, hoping to give her the comfort she so clearly needed.

Nya leaned into him, letting out a shaky breath as she finally allowed herself to relax a little in his embrace. She felt his hand stroking her hair, a familiar gesture that always made her feel loved and protected.

"I... I don't know why I'm so scared," Nya whispered, her voice barely audible. "I just... I felt like I needed to be here, but now I don't know what to do."

Jay's heart ached seeing her like this. Nya was always so strong, so in control. Seeing her vulnerable like this made him want to do everything he could to ease her fears. "It's okay to be scared, Nya. You don't have to be strong all the time. I'm here, and I'll help you through whatever this is."

Nya whimpered again, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She hated feeling like this, but with Jay holding her, it didn't seem quite so overwhelming. "I just... I don't know what's wrong with me, Jay."

Jay tightened his embrace, resting his cheek against her hair. "There's nothing wrong with you, Nya. We all have moments when we feel this way. You don't have to go through it alone, okay?"

Nya nodded against him, her grip on his shirt tightening as she let herself draw strength from his presence. "Okay..."

They sat like that for a while, the quiet of the waiting room wrapping around them as Jay held her close, offering silent reassurance. He didn't push her to talk more, knowing that sometimes, just being there was enough. Eventually, Nya's breathing steadied, and the tension in her body began to ease.

"Thank you, Jay," she murmured, her voice still soft but steadier now.

"Anytime, Nya," he replied, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "I'm always here for you, no matter what."

But even as he led her to the room, Jay could see the lingering worry in Nya's eyes as they both settled onto the examination bed. He knew how strong she usually was, and seeing her this vulnerable tugged at his heart. He wanted to be there for her in every way he could.

As they sat down, Jay instinctively placed one hand on her back, offering silent reassurance with his touch. He could feel the tension in her muscles, and he gently rubbed her back in slow, soothing circles. With his other hand, he picked up the small flashlight from the tray beside the bed.

"Alright, Nya," Jay said softly, keeping his voice calm and steady. "I'm going to check your eyes first. Just follow the light, okay? I'm right here with you."

Nya nodded slightly, her breathing still a bit uneven, but she trusted Jay implicitly. She knew he wouldn't let anything happen to her. As he brought the flashlight up, she focused on the bright beam, doing her best to follow its movement as he slowly guided it from side to side.

Jay watched her closely, making sure to move the light gently, not wanting to cause her any discomfort. "You're doing great," he murmured, his hand on her back never stopping its comforting motion. "Just keep following the light."

Nya's eyes tracked the flashlight, moving in sync with its slow movements. She could feel the warmth of Jay's hand against her back, and it grounded her, helping her focus on the task at hand rather than the anxiety that had been bubbling inside her.

As he finished the eye examination, Jay lowered the flashlight and gave her a reassuring smile. "All done with that part. See? You did amazing."

Nya managed a small smile in return, feeling a little more at ease with Jay by her side. "Thanks, Jay. It helps having you here."

Jay leaned in a bit closer and they rubbed foreheads, Jay's eyes filled with affection. "I wouldn't be anywhere else, Nya. You're my world, and I'm here for you, no matter what."

Next up was the ear examination, and Jay could see Nya's anxiety creeping back in as she realized what was coming. The room felt colder all of a sudden, and she shivered slightly, her unease clearly visible.

Jay, always attuned to her feelings, gently took her hand in his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "I've got you, Nya," he whispered softly, his thumb brushing over her knuckles in a calming rhythm. "We're almost done, I promise."

Nya nodded, taking a deep breath as Jay prepared the otoscope. The cold metal of the device brushed against her ear, and she flinched slightly, but Jay's steady grip on her hand kept her grounded.

"Just a few seconds," Jay murmured, his voice soothing as he carefully examined her ear. His hand never left hers, keeping that constant connection, reminding her that she wasn't alone in this.

Despite the discomfort, Nya stayed still, focusing on Jay's warm hand holding hers. The brief coldness of the device didn't seem so bad with Jay right there, guiding her through it.

When he finished with one ear, Jay moved to the other, still holding her hand tightly. He worked quickly but carefully, wanting to get through this part as fast as possible for her sake.

Finally, the examination was over. Jay set the otoscope aside and immediately leaned in to kiss the top of Nya's head. "That's my girl," he said softly, pride and love evident in his voice.

Nya looked up at him, her tension melting away under his gentle touch. "Thanks, Jay," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude.

Jay smiled warmly, giving her hand another squeeze. "You're doing great, Nya. We're almost there."

Nya managed a small smile in return, feeling more at ease with each reassuring word from her husband. Jay's presence made everything easier to handle, and she was grateful to have him by her side.

Jay could sense Nya's nerves rising again as he reached for the stethoscope. He knew this part could feel a bit uncomfortable, especially since it meant placing the cold metal against her skin. But he also knew how important it was to keep her calm and reassured throughout the process.

Without a word, Jay wrapped one arm around Nya's shoulders, pulling her into a comforting hug. He kept her close, their bodies nearly pressed together, as he gently lifted the edge of her gi and slipped the stethoscope underneath.

Nya shivered slightly as the cool metal touched her skin, but Jay held her even tighter, his embrace warm and steady. "I'm right here," he whispered softly into her ear, his voice a soothing balm against her anxiety. "Just breathe normally, okay?"

Nya nodded, focusing on the feel of Jay's arms around her as he began to move the stethoscope across her chest. He listened intently, his hand gentle as he pressed the device against different spots, making sure to be as careful as possible.

Each time the stethoscope moved, Nya felt a slight chill, but Jay's warmth kept her grounded. His hug never faltered, and she could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against her, calming her own.

Jay continued to move the stethoscope, listening to her heart, the sound clear and strong. He pressed it against her back next, still keeping her close, ensuring she felt safe in his arms.

"Your heart sounds perfect, Nya," Jay said after a few moments, his voice filled with warmth and affection. He removed the stethoscope and set it aside, but he didn't let go of her just yet. Instead, he kept holding her, his hand gently stroking her back.

Nya let out a small sigh of relief, the tension slowly leaving her body as she relaxed into Jay's embrace. "Thanks, Jay," she whispered, feeling comforted by his presence.

Jay smiled down at her, his eyes soft and full of love. "You're doing amazing, Nya. We're almost done. I'm so proud of you." He kissed the top of her head again, holding her close, letting her know that no matter what, he was there for her.

When it came time to check Nya's reflexes, Jay couldn't help but notice how tense she'd become. She sat on the edge of the bed, her leg stiff as a board, and when Jay gently tapped her knee with the reflex hammer, there was no reaction. Not even a twitch.

Jay looked up at her with an amused expression, raising an eyebrow as he tried to suppress a grin. "Really, Nya? You don't trust me with my own honeymuffin?"

Nya's eyes narrowed playfully, even as she tried to keep her leg from moving. "Honeymuffin? Seriously, Jay? I'm trying to stay calm here, and you're making up ridiculous nicknames?"

Jay chuckled, leaning back a bit as he gave her a teasing look. "Hey, if 'honeymuffin' doesn't do it for you, I've got a whole list. How about 'sugarplum'? 'Sweetie pie'? Or maybe-"

"Stop!" Nya interrupted, unable to keep a smile from creeping onto her face. "You're not helping, you know."

Jay laughed, leaning forward and giving her knee another gentle tap with the hammer, still no reaction. "Come on, Nya. You've got to relax a little. It's just a reflex test. Your leg is so stiff it's like I'm tapping a brick wall."

"Well, maybe I don't want to kick you in the face by accident," Nya retorted, crossing her arms with a huff. "I mean, can you blame me for being a little cautious?"

Jay tilted his head, pretending to consider her words. "I guess, but let's be real here-I'm a ninja, remember? I can dodge just about anything, including my wife's very stiff leg."

"Oh, really?" Nya shot back, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm. "Because last time I checked, you're not exactly immune to surprise attacks. Remember that time you tripped over your own feet trying to avoid a-"

"Hey, that was one time!" Jay interjected, laughing as he pointed at her. "And I had just cleaned the floor-it was super slippery!"

Nya couldn't help but laugh along with him, the tension slowly easing out of her body. "Alright, alright, but you're still not off the hook for calling me 'honeymuffin.'"

"Fine," Jay said with a grin, giving her knee one last tap. This time, her leg finally responded, kicking out slightly. "How about 'amazing, talented, incredibly beautiful wife'? Does that work?"

Nya rolled her eyes, though the smile on her face was genuine. "It's a start."

Jay smirked, setting the reflex hammer aside as he leaned in closer, his hand resting on her leg. "Glad I could help you loosen up a bit. But seriously, Nya, I promise I'll keep the nicknames to a minimum-unless you want more, that is."

Nya shook her head, still smiling. "You're incorrigible, Jay. But I guess I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Good," Jay said, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead. "Because I'm not changing anytime soon."

Jay knew that the next step-checking Nya's mouth-might be a little uncomfortable for her. He could see the slight hesitation in her eyes as she sat on the edge of the bed, her hands fidgeting slightly in her lap. Wanting to make sure she felt as comfortable as possible, he decided to take it slow and gentle.

He slipped on a pair of gloves, the sound of the latex stretching over his fingers almost too loud in the quiet room. He moved closer, sitting beside her on the bed again. Jay reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers, offering her the comfort of his touch.

"Alright, Nya," he said softly, his thumb rubbing gentle circles on the back of her hand. "I'm just going to take a quick look inside your mouth, okay? Nothing to worry about."

Nya nodded, but she still looked a bit apprehensive. Jay noticed the way she bit her lip, a small sign of her nerves creeping back. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, his eyes full of warmth and understanding.

"You can keep holding my hand the whole time," he continued, trying to ease her anxiety. "We'll get through this together, just like we've done with everything else."

Nya took a deep breath, then opened her mouth slightly, her gaze never leaving his. Jay carefully lifted a small tongue depressor with his free hand, gently guiding it into her mouth to get a better look.

His movements were slow and deliberate, careful not to cause any discomfort. The cold metal of the gloves brushed against her lips, but the warmth of his hand in hers kept her grounded. He tilted her head slightly, making sure she could still see him as he did the examination.

"Say 'ahh' for me?" Jay asked with a gentle smile, trying to make the moment a bit lighter.

Nya complied, her voice coming out as a soft "ahh," though she couldn't help but feel a bit silly.

Jay chuckled softly, giving her hand another squeeze. "That's perfect. You're doing great, Nya."

He carefully checked her throat and mouth, making sure everything looked as it should. His focus never wavered, but neither did the comforting hold on her hand. When he was done, he gently removed the depressor and slipped off the gloves, setting them aside.

"See? That wasn't so bad," Jay said with a smile, his voice full of pride. He leaned in and kissed her forehead, his lips lingering there for a moment. "You're amazing, you know that?"

Nya smiled, feeling the warmth of his words and his touch. "I couldn't do it without you," she admitted, squeezing his hand back.

Jay pulled her into a soft hug, his arms wrapping around her securely. "We're a team," he murmured into her hair. "And I'll always be right here, holding your hand through anything."

Nya leaned into him, the last of her nerves finally fading away. With Jay by her side, she felt like she could face anything, even the most uncomfortable parts of this check-up.

Jay took a deep breath as he prepared to administering the shot. He could see the panic rising in Nya's eyes as he retrieved the syringe. Her face turned pale, and she instinctively started to move away from him.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down, Nya," Jay said quickly, trying to keep his tone soothing. He reached out to gently hold her arm. "It's okay. Just breathe."

Nya's eyes widened in terror as she shook her head. "I can't do that! I can't!" Her voice was panicked, her breath coming in short, uneven gasps.

Jay's heart ached seeing her so distressed. He immediately wrapped his arms around her in a tight embrace, pulling her close to him. "Hey, it's alright," he whispered into her ear. "You're okay. I'm here."

Nya whimpered against his shoulder, her tears soaking through his shirt. She buried her face in his neck, her body trembling as she cried. Jay held her even tighter, his own emotions rising with her distress.

"Relax your arm for me," Jay said gently, his voice a soft murmur as he guided her arm into position. He could feel the weight of her sobs against him, and he kept his movements slow and steady, trying to minimize her discomfort.

As he administered the shot, Jay continued to whisper soothingly, "Shhh, you're okay. I'm right here. Just focus on my voice."

Nya's cries grew more intense, her whole body shaking with the force of her sobs. "No, I'm not," she managed to choke out between her tears. Her distress was palpable, and Jay could feel the depth of her fear and pain.

Despite the difficulty, Jay kept his voice steady and gentle. "Yes, you are. You're doing so well, Nya. It's almost over, I promise." He finished with the shot and immediately pressed a small bandage onto her arm, trying to be as quick and gentle as possible.

He pulled her into another tight hug, cradling her in his arms. "You did great," he said softly, rubbing her back in soothing circles. "I'm so proud of you."

Nya clung to him, her tears gradually slowing as she felt the comfort of his embrace. Jay continued to hold her, his heart breaking for her but also filled with love and determination to support her through this.

"It's okay, Nya," Jay whispered again, his voice firm yet tender. "We're done now. You're safe. I'm here with you."

Nya finally started to calm, her sobs turning into soft hiccups as she leaned into him, drawing strength from his presence. Jay kept holding her, his warmth and reassurance a steady presence as she slowly began to regain her composure.

"I'm sorry," Nya whispered through her tears, her voice shaky but softer now. "I didn't mean to make it so hard."

Jay tilted her chin up gently, looking into her eyes with a loving smile. "You don't have to apologize, Nya. It's okay to be scared. What matters is that you got through it, and I'm so proud of you."

Nya managed a faint smile, her heart feeling lighter as she rested her head against his shoulder. "Thank you, Jay," she said quietly, feeling a deep sense of relief and gratitude.

"I'll always be here for you," Jay promised, holding her close as they both took a moment to recover from the intense experience. "No matter what."

Second one.

Jay knew the blood test was going to be another challenging moment for Nya, but he was determined to make it as quick and painless as possible. He took a deep breath and prepared himself for the next step, grabbing the small blood-testing device designed for finger pricks.

"Alright, Nya," Jay said, trying to keep his voice upbeat. "This is the last part. We just need to do a quick blood test. It's going to be a little prick, but it'll be over fast."

Nya looked at him with a mix of apprehension and dread, her eyes already welling up with tears. "Oh no, Jay... Please, can't we just skip this?"

Jay shook his head gently, trying to offer a comforting smile. "I'm afraid not. But I promise, it'll be quick. I'll make sure it's as easy as possible."

He took her hand carefully, placing it on the bed. Jay wiped the tip of her finger with a small antiseptic pad, making sure everything was clean. He looked up at Nya, his expression soft and reassuring.

"Ready?" he asked, his voice gentle.

Nya nodded hesitantly, her gaze locked on his. Jay positioned the device and, with a swift, practiced motion, made the quick prick to her finger. The moment it happened, Nya flinched, her body tensing up as the pain shot through her.

"Ouch!" she cried out, her eyes squeezing shut as tears began streaming down her cheeks. She pulled her hand away instinctively, but Jay gently guided it back into position.

"I know it hurts, Nya," Jay said softly, his voice full of sympathy. "Just a little longer, okay? It's almost done."

He quickly collected the small sample of blood into the testing device, working swiftly but carefully. The whole process took just a few seconds, but to Nya, it felt like an eternity.

Jay could see the pain and discomfort on her face, and his heart ached for her. He finished the test and immediately set the device aside, taking Nya's hand in both of his. He held it gently, his thumb rubbing soothing circles over her knuckles.

"There we go," Jay said softly, looking at her with a loving gaze. "It's all done. I'm sorry it hurt. You were so brave."

Nya sniffled, her tears continuing to flow as she tried to steady her breathing. "It really hurt, Jay," she said through her sobs. "I hate this so much."

Jay wrapped his arms around her once more, pulling her into a comforting hug. "I know, Nya. It's okay to be upset. You did great, and I'm so proud of you. I wish I could make it easier, but I'm here with you."

Nya buried her face in his shoulder, letting out a few more cries of frustration and pain. Jay continued to hold her, his own heart heavy with empathy. He stroked her hair and whispered comforting words, doing his best to help her through the aftermath of the blood test.

"Everything will be okay," he murmured into her hair. "I promise. You're strong and amazing, and I'm here every step of the way."

Nya slowly began to calm, the warmth of Jay's embrace helping to ease the sting of the test. She took a few deep breaths, finding solace in his presence.

"Thank you, Jay," she whispered, her voice still trembling but filled with gratitude.

Jay pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, holding her close. "Always," he said softly. "No matter what happens, we face it together."

Okay, this is the end.

But, just for a little encore.....

After the test, Jay knew Nya needed something comforting, something to help her feel safe and loved after everything she'd just been through. As he continued to hold her, he made a decision to lighten the mood and offer some much-needed solace.

"Alright, Nya," Jay said with a soft, encouraging smile, "it's cuddle time!"

Without waiting for a response, Jay pulled her into his arms, enveloping her in a tight, comforting embrace. He wrapped his arms securely around her, drawing her close against his chest. The warmth of his body and the strength of his hug were meant to reassure her and wash away some of the stress from the day.

Nya, feeling the full effect of his embrace, responded by hugging him back just as tightly. She buried her face into his chest, her tears gradually slowing as she found comfort in the closeness. The physical contact was soothing, and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat seemed to calm her racing emotions.

Jay held her close, his arms wrapped around her in a cocoon of warmth. He could feel her body slowly relaxing against his, the tension easing with each passing moment. He gently stroked her hair and rubbed her back, maintaining a gentle but firm hold.

"There we go," Jay murmured, his voice low and soothing. "Just let it all go. I'm right here with you."

Nya nestled into him, her arms tightening around his torso as if she never wanted to let go. She took comfort in the simple act of cuddling, the physical connection serving as a balm for her weary soul.

"Thank you, Jay," Nya said softly, her voice muffled against his shirt. "I needed this."

Jay pressed a tender kiss to the top of her head, his heart swelling with love and relief. "Anytime," he replied warmly. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what. We can stay like this as long as you need."

For several moments, they simply held each other, the world outside fading away as they found solace in their embrace. The cuddling provided a healing space for both of them, a quiet, intimate moment where they could just be together and support each other.

Eventually, Jay gently pulled back slightly, just enough to look into Nya's eyes. "Feeling a bit better?" he asked softly, his gaze full of concern and affection.

Nya managed a small, grateful smile. "Much better," she said. "Thank you."

Jay returned her smile with a look of pure warmth. "You're welcome," he said, giving her one last reassuring squeeze before easing back. "We're in this together, and I'm always here to help you through."

Okay, this is the end.
