Jay's Check up
My sister wrote this. Because I'm On Vacation, Y'all!
.... Actually, that's a lie. She really wants to write, because apparently, her job has a lot of benefits for stories. * Shrugs*.
Just so you know, I'm Jay ( when I was younger) and Kai is my sis ( also younger).
Jay sat in the waiting room, the sterile smell of antiseptic hanging in the air. His fingers fidgeted with the frayed edges of the magazine he held, his eyes darting around the empty space. The ticking of the clock seemed louder than usual, amplifying his anxiety.
The door to the examination rooms opened, and Kai stepped out, glancing around until his eyes landed on Jay. "Jay?" Kai called, his voice gentle yet firm.
Jay's heart skipped a beat, and he froze, not moving from his seat. His breathing quickened, and he felt a lump form in his throat. Kai walked over to him, noticing his brother-in-law's visible discomfort.
"Jay, are you okay?" Kai asked, concern etched on his face as he knelt down to Jay's level.
Jay remained silent, his gaze fixed on the floor, his body tense. Kai reached out, placing a comforting hand on Jay's shoulder. "Jay, look at me."
Jay's eyes remained downcast, his fingers still clutching the magazine tightly. Kai's heart ached seeing Jay so distressed. "Why am I the older brother?" Kai asked, trying to draw Jay out of his shell. "Is it to boss you around?"
Jay's silence persisted, and Kai could see the anxiety written all over his face. He gently shook Jay's shoulder. "Jay, please talk to me. Why are you frozen?"
Jay's grip tightened on his seat, his knuckles white as he clung to it. He finally looked up at Kai, his eyes filled with a mix of fear and frustration. "I... I don't like being in the waiting room. It just... makes me feel trapped."
Kai's expression softened, and he sat down beside Jay, giving him a reassuring pat on the back. "I understand. Waiting can be really tough. But you don't have to go through it alone."
Jay looked at Kai, his eyes still showing traces of his earlier panic. "But... what if something goes wrong? What if the check-up isn't good?"
Kai sighed, understanding the root of Jay's fears. "Jay, we've been through this before. Whatever happens, we'll face it together. I'm here with you."
Jay's shoulders relaxed slightly, though he still clung to his seat. "I guess... I just don't know how to handle the waiting."
Kai nodded, his hand still resting on Jay's shoulder. "It's okay to feel that way. We can take it one step at a time. You don't have to be brave all the time."
Jay took a deep breath, finally letting go of his grip on the seat. "Thanks, Kai. I just needed to hear that."
Kai smiled warmly, relieved to see Jay's tension ease. "Anytime, Jay. Let's get through this together, okay? You're not alone in this."
Kai gently took Jay's arm, leading him towards the examination room. As they walked, Jay's breathing grew more rapid, his chest rising and falling with increasing intensity. By the time they reached the room, he was on the verge of hyperventilating.
The room was warm and inviting, with an examination table that looked more like a comfortable bed, complete with soft pillows and a cozy blanket. But the sight did little to calm Jay's nerves. As soon as they entered, he sank to the floor, his breathing erratic and shallow.
"Jay, hey, hey, breathe!" Kai said, his own anxiety spiking. He knelt beside Jay, trying to stay calm but struggling himself. "You're going to be okay, just take a deep breath with me."
Jay, now lying on the ground, rolled over and continued to hyperventilate. "I... can't... breathe," he gasped, his eyes wide with panic.
Kai's heart pounded. He wasn't used to seeing Jay like this, and his instinct was to fix it immediately. "Jay, look at me," he said firmly, trying to ground him. "We've been through worse. You can do this. Just focus on my voice."
Jay's eyes darted around the room, unfocused. Kai knew he had to act fast. "Alright, buddy, you've got to calm down." He grabbed a paper bag from a nearby drawer and handed it to Jay. "Breathe into this. Slow and steady."
Jay took the bag with trembling hands and began to breathe into it. His breaths were still fast, but the bag seemed to help regulate them a bit. Kai sat down beside him, rubbing his back in circles. "That's it, just like that. Slow breaths."
Minutes passed, and Jay's breathing started to stabilize. He looked up at Kai, his eyes still filled with fear but with a hint of relief. "Thanks... Kai," he managed to say between breaths.
Kai gave a small, tense smile. "Anytime. You scared the heck out of me, you know that?"
Jay nodded, his face still pale. "Sorry, I just... the waiting and everything... it gets to me."
Kai helped Jay to his feet and guided him to the soft bed. "I know, but we'll get through this together. You're stronger than you think."
Jay sat on the bed, still shaky but more composed. Kai stayed close, his own nerves settling now that Jay was a bit calmer. "Let's just take it easy, okay? One step at a time."
Jay nodded, grateful for Kai's presence and support. "Thanks, Kai. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Kai squeezed Jay's shoulder. "You'd do just fine, but I'm here, so you don't have to find out."
First, eyes.
Jay, still feeling anxious from earlier, watched Kai closely. "Do I have a blind eye?!" he blurted out, his voice tinged with worry.
Kai sighed softly, trying to keep his tone calm and reassuring. "Jay, you don't have a blind eye. I'm just checking to make sure everything's alright."
Jay's anxiety didn't let up. "Do I need an eye patch? Is there a wart? What if—"
"Bud, seriously," Kai interrupted, placing a gentle hand on Jay's chin to tilt his head up. "I know you don't like this, but you can't just keep assuming the worst."
Jay looked down, feeling a mix of embarrassment and continued anxiety. Kai continued to hold Jay's chin gently, making sure their eyes met. "I'm just checking to see that everything's okay. You need to try and stay calm. Worrying about what might be wrong doesn't help."
Jay's gaze met Kai's, his eyes filled with a mix of apprehension and trust. "Okay, I'll try to calm down."
Kai smiled reassuringly and continued his examination with a steady hand. "That's better. Just focus on your breathing like we practiced, and everything will be fine."
With Kai's encouragement and steady demeanor, Jay's anxiety began to ease. Kai finished the eye exam, confirming that everything was normal.
"All done," Kai said, offering Jay a reassuring smile. "Your eyes are perfectly healthy. There's no need for an eye patch or anything like that."
Jay let out a relieved sigh. "Thanks, Kai. I guess I let my imagination run wild."
Kai chuckled lightly and patted Jay's shoulder. "It's okay. Sometimes we all need a little reassurance. Just remember, you're in good hands."
As Jay started to feel more at ease, he appreciated Kai's patience and care. With Kai's support, he was able to calm down and focus on the positive outcome of the check-up.
When Kai moved on to check Jay's ears, Jay's anxiety resurfaced. "Is it deaf? Is there a rat in there?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
Kai looked at him, slightly amused but mostly concerned. "How could a rat even get into your ear, Jay?"
Jay, not entirely reassured, insisted, "It could. You never know." He looked away, still anxious about the examination.
Noticing Jay's continued distress, Kai decided to kneel down to meet Jay at eye level. He placed a reassuring hand on Jay's shoulder. "Jay, listen. There are no rats in your ears. I'm just checking to make sure everything's okay. You've got to trust me on this."
Jay glanced at Kai, his anxiety softening a bit. "But what if..."
Kai interrupted gently, "I know it's not easy, but there's nothing to worry about. Sometimes our minds can play tricks on us. I promise, everything's fine."
Kai proceeded with the ear examination calmly and methodically. He made sure to check each ear thoroughly while maintaining a reassuring presence. "See? Nothing in there except for your ears," he said with a small smile.
Jay, seeing Kai's confidence and the lack of anything unusual, began to relax. "Okay, I guess you're right."
Kai patted Jay on the back. "You're doing great. Just remember, sometimes it's easier to worry about what might be wrong, but most of the time, there's nothing to worry about."
Jay nodded, feeling more at ease now. "Thanks, Kai. I'll try to trust you more."
Kai smiled, giving Jay's shoulder a comforting squeeze. "Anytime, Jay. That's what I'm here for."
Kai moved on to check Jay's heartbeat, placing the stethoscope on his chest. As he did, he noticed Jay's leg bouncing rapidly, a clear sign of his lingering anxiety.
Jay took a deep breath, trying to follow Kai's instructions. Kai pressed the stethoscope against his chest, listening carefully to his heartbeat. "Your heart's racing, buddy," he said, concern creeping into his voice.
Jay gave a shaky laugh. "Yeah, well, doctors' appointments aren't exactly my favorite."
Kai moved the stethoscope to different spots, listening intently. "You're doing fine. Just keep breathing for me."
Jay nodded, but his heart rate just kept increasing.
Kai sighed and said with a hint of amusement, "Why am I the older one again?"
Jay sighed in return, his voice tinged with resignation. "To boss me around and stuff."
Kai gave him a look, half stern, half amused. "You know that's not why."
Jay shifted slightly, trying to stay still but failing. "I know, I know. It's just... hard to calm down."
Kai nodded, his expression softening. "I get it, Jay. But you need to try to relax so I can get an accurate reading."
Jay took a deep breath, attempting to steady himself. "Alright, I'll try."
Kai resumed listening to Jay's heartbeat, focusing on maintaining a calm and supportive demeanor. "Just breathe normally, and try to keep your leg still."
Jay followed Kai's instructions, taking slow, deep breaths. The rapid bouncing of his leg gradually slowed as he concentrated on calming down.
"Much better," Kai said, offering an encouraging smile. "Your heartbeat is strong and steady, just like it should be."
Jay let out a small sigh of relief. "Thanks, Kai. I guess I just needed to hear that."
Kai gave Jay's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "That's what I'm here for. Sometimes, we just need a little reminder that everything's okay."
Jay nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude for Kai's patience and understanding. "I appreciate it. I'll try to stay calmer next time."
Kai smiled warmly. "You're doing great, Jay. Just remember, we're all here to support each other."
As Kai finished checking Jay's heartbeat, he moved on to the next part of the examination. "Alright, let me grab the reflex hammer," Kai said, scanning the nearby table for the tool.
Meanwhile, Jay grew increasingly nervous again. He pulled his legs up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them tightly. His face buried in his knees, and his breath quickened once more.
Kai found the reflex hammer and turned back to see Jay in this defensive posture. He sighed softly, setting the hammer down and approaching Jay. Sitting beside him, Kai spoke gently, "Hey, Jay. What's going on? Talk to me."
Jay mumbled something into his knees, barely audible. Kai leaned closer, trying to catch his words. "I can't hear you, Jay. Look at me."
Jay slowly lifted his head, his eyes filled with a mix of anxiety and embarrassment. "I just... I hate this. The reflex hammer... it just makes me feel so on edge."
Kai nodded, understanding dawning in his eyes. "I get it. It can be uncomfortable, but it's just a quick check to make sure your reflexes are normal. Nothing to worry about."
Jay took a shaky breath, still clearly apprehensive. "I know. I just can't help it."
Kai placed a reassuring hand on Jay's back. "How about this: we take it one step at a time, okay? If you need to take a break, just tell me. We'll get through this together."
Jay looked at Kai, feeling a little more reassured by his calm and supportive approach. "Alright. Let's get it over with."
Kai smiled softly, giving Jay a gentle pat on the back. "That's the spirit. Ready?"
Jay nodded, still tense but more willing to continue. Kai picked up the reflex hammer again, moving slowly and explaining each step as he went. "I'm just going to tap your knee lightly. It won't hurt, I promise."
Jay tried to relax, focusing on Kai's steady presence. He extended his leg hesitantly, and Kai gave a gentle tap with the hammer. Jay's leg jerked slightly, and he let out a small, nervous laugh.
"See? Not so bad," Kai said with a smile. "One more time on the other leg, and we're done."
Jay braced himself again, but this time it was a bit easier. Kai finished the check quickly and efficiently, then set the hammer aside. "All done. You did great."
Jay let out a relieved sigh, uncurling from his defensive posture. "Thanks, Kai. I guess I overreacted a bit."
Kai chuckled lightly, ruffling Jay's hair. "It's alright. We all have things that make us uneasy. You handled it well."
Jay felt a wave of gratitude wash over him. "Thanks for being patient with me."
Kai nodded, giving Jay's shoulder a final reassuring squeeze. "Always, Jay. That's what family's for."
Haha, you guessed it. 😭😭😭😭
First the shorter one. Then the longer
As soon as Kai mentioned the shot, Jay's eyes widened with terror. He instinctively pulled away, scrambling backward until his back hit the wall. "No," Jay pleaded, his voice shaking. "Anything but that!"
Kai's heart sank as he saw the fear in Jay's eyes. He knew this was going to be the hardest part. "Jay," he said softly, stepping closer, his voice calm yet firm, "I need you to trust me."
But Jay was trembling uncontrollably, his breath coming in rapid, shallow gasps. Kai could see the panic taking over, threatening to overwhelm his brother-in-law. Without hesitation, Kai moved in closer, wrapping his arms around Jay in a tight, reassuring hug. He could feel Jay's heart pounding wildly against his chest.
"It's okay, Jay," Kai murmured, his voice soothing as he kept Jay close, one arm securely around his shoulders. "I've got you. You're safe."
Slowly, Kai draped Jay's arm close to his own body, using the hug to keep him steady. He gently lifted Jay's sleeve, exposing the spot where the shot would go. Jay's muscles tensed, and Kai could feel the tremors running through his body. "Shhh," Kai whispered, reaching for the antiseptic wipe with his free hand. "Just breathe, Jay. In and out, okay? You're doing great."
Jay squeezed his eyes shut, his breathing fast and erratic. "I-I can't..." he stammered, his voice barely audible. "I can't..."
"Yes, you can," Kai encouraged, still holding him close. He quickly but carefully sanitized the area, feeling Jay flinch at the cool touch of the wipe. "Just focus on your breathing. In... and out. In... and out."
Jay was trembling like crazy, his entire body quaking with fear. He tried to match Kai's calm rhythm, but every breath was shaky, filled with anxiety. Kai could feel the intensity of Jay's panic, but he kept his voice steady and reassuring. "You're doing fine, Jay. I'm right here. I won't let anything happen to you."
With one hand still holding Jay close, Kai took the syringe and positioned it carefully. Jay's eyes shot open, and he tried to pull away again, but Kai tightened his grip slightly, not letting him go. "I'm here," Kai repeated, his voice a steady anchor in the storm of Jay's fear. "You're safe with me."
Finally, in one smooth motion, Kai administered the shot, quick and precise. Jay let out a soft cry, his body jerking slightly, but Kai held him steady, immediately rubbing soothing circles on his back. "It's done," Kai whispered. "It's all done, Jay. You're okay."
Jay's trembling didn't stop immediately, but Kai didn't rush him. He continued to hold him close, letting Jay lean into him as he tried to calm down. "Breathe," Kai repeated gently. "In... and out. Nice and slow. You're safe."
As the reality of the moment began to sink in, Jay's breathing gradually slowed, though he still clung to Kai like a lifeline. Kai didn't let go, his hand still rubbing small, comforting circles on Jay's back. "You did it," Kai said softly, his voice filled with pride. "You're okay. You're safe."
Jay, still trembling, managed to nod, his face buried in Kai's shoulder. It had been terrifying, but somehow, with Kai's support, he had gotten through it. And even though the fear was still there, lurking in the back of his mind, he knew he wasn't alone. Kai was there, and that made all the difference.
Now the other one, people! The longer one that has to do with blood.
And yes, the other two times, my very annoying sister wrote what was going to happen. ( I'm here sister, the one who doesn't own this account.)
Kai walked over to Jay, his expression calm yet concerned as he found Jay buried under a pile of blankets. Jay was trembling, clutching them tightly as if they were his only protection from the world.
"Jay," Kai said softly, kneeling down beside him. "You need to breathe, buddy."
Jay's voice was shaky, muffled by the blankets as he responded, "Kai, I can't."
Kai reached out, placing a comforting hand on Jay's shoulder. "Yes, you can. I'm right here with you."
Jay's grip on the blankets tightened even more as he replied, his voice trembling with fear. "No, Kai, I can't. I can't stand seeing blood being drawn out. Please, Kai."
Kai sighed deeply, understanding the fear coursing through Jay. He wished there was a way to make this easier for him, but the blood test was necessary. "I wish I had a choice, bud, but this is important. I promise, I'll make it as quick as possible."
Jay shook his head, his breathing quickening. "Jay, relax," Kai said gently, trying to soothe him. "I'll do the finger one. It's less intense."
But Jay only shook his head more frantically. "That's worse," he whispered, his voice filled with dread.
Kai could see the genuine terror in Jay's eyes, and it tugged at his heart. He took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to help his friend through this. "I know it's hard," he said softly. "But you're stronger than this, Jay. I've seen you face things way scarier than a blood test."
Jay looked at Kai, his eyes filled with uncertainty. "This is different," he whispered.
"I know it feels that way," Kai said, keeping his tone gentle. "But I'm going to be right here the whole time. You won't be alone, Jay. We'll get through this together, okay?"
Jay nodded slightly, though the fear in his eyes didn't fully fade. Kai gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "We'll take it slow, and if at any point you need to stop, just say the word. But let's try, okay?"
Jay took a deep breath, trying to gather his courage. "Okay," he whispered.
Kai smiled gently, his heart aching for his friend. "That's the spirit," he said, carefully pulling the blankets back. "Just focus on your breathing. In and out, nice and slow."
Jay tried to follow Kai's instructions, his breaths shaky but starting to steady. Kai set up the equipment for the finger prick, making sure everything was ready and within reach.
As Jay sat in the chair, waiting for his blood test, Kai noticed he wasn't cooperating. Jay had his thumb in his mouth, a nervous habit that Kai had seen a few times before. The tension in the room was almost palpable as Kai prepped the needle and other tools on the tray beside him.
"Jay, come on. I need your finger," Kai said, his voice calm but firm.
Jay shook his head, keeping his thumb securely in his mouth. He wasn't a fan of needles, and the idea of a blood test made his anxiety spike.
Kai sighed, seeing the resistance in Jay's eyes. He gently reached over, pulling Jay's hand away from his mouth. "Really, Jay? You know this is important."
Jay looked away, his lips pressed together in defiance. "I don't like it," he muttered, a hint of embarrassment in his voice. He was supposed to be tough, a ninja, but when it came to needles, that bravery seemed to evaporate.
Kai softened his tone, leaning in closer. "I get it, Jay. No one likes this part. But it's quick, and then it's over. You just have to give me your hand for a minute."
Jay hesitated, glancing at Kai. He knew Kai wasn't going to let this go easily. With a deep sigh, Jay slowly extended his hand toward Kai, his reluctance clear in every movement.
"There you go," Kai encouraged, taking Jay's hand in his own. "Just a quick pinch, and it'll be done before you know it."
Jay looked away, trying to focus on anything but what was happening. He felt the brief sting of the needle, and his hand reflexively twitched, but Kai's grip was steady, keeping him still.
"And... done," Kai said, capping the needle and placing it back on the tray. "See? That wasn't so bad."
Jay still looked a bit pale but managed a small nod. "Yeah, I guess."
Kai patted him on the shoulder. "You did great. Now you can go back to doing what you do best—being a ninja."
Jay finally smiled, albeit a bit sheepishly. "Thanks, Kai."
"Anytime, Jay. Just remember, the sooner you get it over with, the sooner it's done," Kai replied, giving Jay a reassuring smile before cleaning up the supplies.
Oki now we're done
