Fire to Fire

Mia's four in this story

When Kai, Lloyd and Nya came back from the mission, they found Jay yelling all over the monetary, panicking.

" Mia!" He yelled. " It isn't your fault!"

" What isn't her fault?" Kai asked stepping inside with the others.

Jay sighed and turned. " Mia... Well, you know how we found out she could control lightning when she was two, but we found out she can control fire yesterday?"

They nodded.

" Well.... Today she was trying to train with it and ... Accidentally set the kitchen in fire."

Everyone stared.

" So that's why the house smells funny!" Lloyd said, coughing slightly.

Jay sighed and ran a hand through his hair.  " Now she's hidden somewhere and I can't find her."

" She was always a good hider." Kai reminded Jay, who shot him a look.

Nya walked to her Yang and took his hands. " We'll find her, Jay." She said gently. " But you have to stop panicking. It won't help."

Jay nodded slightly, and tried to take a deep breath.

Suddenly, a ball of pink ran into Jay's arms and nearly tackled him to the floor, screaming and crying.

" JAY, MAKE ME STOP!" she yelled, hugging Jay close as if he were the only person to protect her.

" Woah woah woah, Mia!," Jay said, bringing Mia to his leg and making her sit on them. " What do you mean, ' make it stop!'?"

" I can't control fire!" She wailed. " It'll make me all cocky and stuff!"

Lloyd and Nya bit their tounges to keep from laughing, while Jay and Kai looked absolutely bedwilled.

" Uh... Mia," Jay said, regaining his voice. " You.... You do know Kai's personality is cocky, not because he had fire?"

Mia wasn't listening. She was immersed in her own world.

A world where she brought only terror.

As Mia clung to Jay, trembling and tearful, the entire monastery seemed to hold its breath. Jay’s heart ached for his little sister, who was clearly overwhelmed by her newfound power. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, trying to offer comfort, but he could feel her small body shaking in fear and confusion.

Kai, standing nearby, exchanged a concerned glance with Lloyd and Nya. “Mia,” Kai began softly, kneeling down to her level, “I know it’s scary, but having fire powers doesn’t mean you’ll become cocky or bad.”

Mia shook her head vehemently, her face buried in Jay’s chest. “But what if it does?” she whimpered, her voice muffled. “I don’t want to hurt anyone… I don’t want to be dangerous.”

Jay stroked her hair gently, his heart breaking as he tried to find the right words. “Mia, you won’t hurt anyone. We’re here to help you learn how to control it, just like you learned to control lightning.”

Lloyd, who had been quiet until now, took a step closer. “Mia, you’re one of the kindest people I know. Just because you have fire powers doesn’t change who you are.”

Mia’s sobs quieted a bit, but she still clung tightly to Jay, her fear not entirely eased. “But I can’t stop it…” she whispered, her voice trembling. “What if I mess up again?”

Kai, who understood her fears better than anyone, reached out and gently placed a hand on her back. “It’s okay to be scared, Mia. I was too when I first got my powers. But you’re not alone. We’ll train together, and I’ll show you how to control it. You’re stronger than you think.”

Mia looked up at Kai with wide, tear-filled eyes. “You really think I can do it?”

Kai smiled warmly, nodding. “I know you can. And remember, it’s not the power that defines you. It’s how you use it.”

Nya, standing beside Jay, gave Mia an encouraging smile. “You’re already so brave, Mia. We’re all here for you, no matter what.”

Jay kissed the top of Mia’s head, his voice soft and reassuring. “We love you, Mia. Nothing will change that, okay? We’re a team, and we’ll get through this together.”

Mia finally began to relax, her grip on Jay loosening as the warmth of her family’s support surrounded her. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand, sniffling slightly. “Okay… I’ll try.”

Jay smiled, his heart swelling with pride. “That’s my girl.”

Kai stood up, extending a hand to Mia. “How about we start some training tomorrow? We’ll go at your pace, and I promise it’ll be just the two of us. No pressure.”

Mia hesitated for a moment, then nodded slowly. “Okay… but only if you promise not to laugh if I mess up.”

Kai grinned. “I promise. And if you mess up, we’ll just keep trying until you get it right.”

Mia took Kai’s hand, and for the first time since the incident, she felt a flicker of hope. Maybe, just maybe, she could learn to control her fire powers without letting them control her.

-------
Kai gently guided Mia to the training area, hoping to help her gain some control over her fire powers. “Let’s start with the first position,” he said softly, demonstrating the stance.

Mia hesitated but then mimicked Kai’s stance, focusing on what he was showing her. But as she concentrated, a small ember shot out from her hand, hitting the wall with a faint sizzle. The ember quickly grew, and Mia screamed in panic, bolting from the spot.

“Mia!” Kai called out, but she was already gone, running down the hallway. Without missing a beat, he shouted, “Nya, I need you!”

Nya rushed in and quickly extinguished the ember with a burst of water, her expression calm but concerned. “It’s okay, Kai,” she said, patting his shoulder. “She just needs time.”

Meanwhile, Mia, now back in her room, tried to calm herself by practicing her wind and lightning powers—powers she felt more confident in controlling. After a few minutes of focused practice, she flopped onto her bed, exhausted and frustrated.

Blackie, her sassy talking cat, sauntered into the room and jumped onto the bed beside her. “What happened?” the cat asked, his tone half-curious, half-concerned.

Mia sighed deeply, rolling over to face Blackie. “I tried using fire, but I messed up again. I’m just not cut out for it, Blackie.”

Blackie tilted his head, his green eyes narrowing thoughtfully. “You’re trying too hard, kiddo. Maybe take it slow. Not every power needs to be mastered in a day.”

Mia hugged her pillow tightly, tears welling up in her eyes. “But what if I hurt someone? Or what if I turn into a monster?”

Blackie nudged her cheek with his nose. “You’re not going to turn into a monster. You’ve got a good heart, and that’s what counts. Just remember that your powers are a part of you, but they don’t define who you are.”

Mia nodded slowly, taking comfort in Blackie’s words. She knew she had a long way to go, but at least she wasn’t alone.

As Mia lay on her bed, still feeling the weight of her earlier mistake, Kai quietly entered the room. He walked over to her and gently sat on the edge of the bed. “Mia, it’s not your fault,” he said softly, his voice full of understanding.

Mia sighed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling. “I guess…” she muttered, though doubt still lingered in her voice.

Blackie, sitting beside her, flicked his tail thoughtfully. “What if you try the first position again?” he suggested, his tone encouraging.

Mia glanced at Blackie and then at Kai, who gave her a supportive nod. With a deep breath, she got up from the bed and positioned herself in the center of the room. She took a moment to steady herself, remembering the stance Kai had shown her.

“Wind!” Blackie called out, his voice a mix of cheer and command.

Mia focused, and a gentle breeze stirred around her, lifting a few strands of her hair.

“Lightning!” Blackie continued.

A small spark of electricity crackled between Mia’s fingers, the familiar sensation grounding her.

“Now, fire!” Blackie urged.

Mia hesitated for just a second, then closed her eyes and focused on the warmth she felt deep within. Slowly, she extended her hand, and a small flame flickered into existence, dancing lightly on her palm. It wasn’t much, but it was controlled, calm, and steady.

Mia opened her eyes and stared at the flame, a mix of awe and relief washing over her. She glanced at Blackie, who was watching with a proud look, then at Kai, who smiled warmly.

“You did it,” Kai said, his voice full of pride. “See? You’re getting there.”

Mia extinguished the flame and let out a deep breath. “Maybe I can do this after all,” she whispered, feeling a flicker of confidence begin to grow within her.

Blackie purred and nuzzled her leg. “One step at a time, Mia. Just one step at a time.”

------

Two days later, Mia was in the courtyard, her frustration evident as she tried to control her fire powers. Flames flickered around her hands, growing and shrinking unpredictably. She was going crazy, and everyone could see it. The once gentle embers had become erratic, sometimes bursting into flames that threatened to spiral out of control.

Kai watched her from a distance, his concern growing with each passing minute. This wasn’t the Mia he knew. Something was different, and it wasn’t just her powers. He could feel the anxiety rolling off her in waves, and it was starting to worry him deeply. After another failed attempt where Mia accidentally set a patch of grass on fire, she stomped her foot in frustration, and the flames around her hands flared up dangerously.

Seeing this, Kai quickly called the others for a meeting in the monastery’s main hall. As they gathered, the atmosphere was tense. Nya, Lloyd, Jay, Cole, Zane, and Master Wu all looked concerned.

“This isn’t normal, is it?” Kai asked, his voice low but filled with urgency. “She’s never been like this with her powers before.”

Master Wu stroked his beard thoughtfully, his eyes reflecting a deep contemplation. “Mia possesses powers… rare powers,” he finally said, his voice calm but carrying the weight of his words.

The others exchanged glances, a mix of curiosity and concern on their faces. “What do you mean, rare?” Jay asked, unable to hide the worry in his voice.

Wu continued, “Mia’s ability to control multiple elements is not something we see often. It’s a sign of great potential, but it also comes with great challenges. Fire, especially, is a difficult element to master. It’s driven by emotion, and if she’s not in control of her emotions, the fire will reflect that.”

Kai nodded, understanding beginning to dawn on him. “So, what do we do? How can we help her?”

“We need to guide her,” Wu replied. “She must learn to balance her emotions, to find peace within herself. Only then will she be able to fully control her powers.”

Lloyd, who had been listening quietly, spoke up. “But she’s scared. She thinks she’s going to hurt someone or that she’ll become someone she doesn’t want to be.”

Wu nodded solemnly. “Fear is a powerful thing. But so is love and support. We must be there for her, to help her realize that she’s not alone in this. That she has all of us to lean on.”

Nya placed a hand on Kai’s shoulder. “You’re the closest to her right now, Kai. Maybe you can help her find that balance.”

Kai looked back at Mia, who was now sitting on the edge of the courtyard, staring at the small flame flickering on her palm. She looked so lost, so burdened. “I’ll do whatever it takes,” he said firmly. “She’s my little sister too, and I won’t let her go through this alone.”

Kai and Jay approached the courtyard where Mia was training, both of them exchanging a concerned glance as they drew closer. The scene before them was chaotic—Mia was in the middle of a whirlwind of fire and wind. She was igniting everything around her with bursts of fire, only to extinguish them moments later with powerful gusts of wind. It was as if she were trying to control a storm that raged both inside and out.

"Mia!" Kai called out, trying to get her attention.

But Mia was too absorbed in her struggle, her focus entirely on the flames that danced around her hands and the wind that howled in response. She didn’t even seem to notice her older brothers approaching.

Jay stepped forward, worry etched across his face. “Mia, you need to stop!” he shouted, trying to break through the chaos.

Mia finally heard them and turned around, but her eyes were wild, and the fire in her hands flared up even more. “I can’t!” she yelled back, her voice strained with frustration. “I can’t control it! Every time I try, it just gets worse!”

Kai took a step closer, careful not to spook her further. “Mia, you’re pushing yourself too hard. You’re not alone in this, okay? We’re here to help.”

But Mia shook her head, backing away slightly. “No! I have to figure this out! I have to control it before it controls me!”

Jay saw the panic in her eyes and knew they needed to calm her down before something went terribly wrong. He slowly approached her, keeping his voice gentle. “Mia, listen to me. You’re not doing this alone. We’ve got your back, but you have to trust us. Let us help you.”

Mia’s breathing was erratic, and for a moment, it seemed like she might lash out again. But then, the desperation in her eyes softened just a little, and she looked at Jay, her older brother, the one who had always been there for her.

“I’m scared, Jay,” she admitted, her voice trembling. “I’m scared of what I might do… of who I might become.”

Kai stepped forward, placing a hand on her shoulder. “You’re not going to become anyone other than who you are, Mia. And who you are is someone strong, someone who can overcome this. But you need to let us in. We’re your family, and we’ll figure this out together.”

The fire in her hands began to dim as Mia looked between Jay and Kai. The wind around them settled into a gentle breeze. “But what if I hurt you?” she whispered, her fear evident in every word.

Jay knelt down beside her, looking her in the eyes. “You won’t, Mia. We trust you. And more importantly, you need to trust yourself.”

Mia stared at him for a long moment, her resolve slowly returning. She nodded, the flames finally flickering out completely. “Okay… okay, I’ll try.”

Kai and Jay both breathed a sigh of relief, and Jay gently pulled Mia into a hug. “That’s all we ask, Mia. Just keep trying, and we’ll be right here with you.”

Kai joined the hug, wrapping his arms around both of them. “You’re going to be okay, Mia. We promise.”

As Mia effortlessly manipulated the wind around her, she moved with a grace and agility that belied the power she was wielding. Her hair whipped around her face as she executed a perfect backflip, the wind swirling violently in her wake. It was as if she was dancing with the elements, each movement precise and controlled.

Blackie, sitting nearby and watching with wide eyes, couldn’t help but be impressed. The swirling wind created a small cyclone around Mia, but she remained perfectly balanced, in complete control of the storm she had summoned.

“Wow,” Blackie finally exclaimed, unable to hold back the admiration in his voice.

Mia, landing lightly on her feet, turned to face him with a small smile. “What? I do it all the time,” she said casually, as if creating a miniature hurricane was the most natural thing in the world.

Blackie tilted his head, his tail flicking with curiosity. “How did you learn to control the wind like that?”

Mia shrugged, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face. “I dunno. It just… came naturally, I guess. Like controlling lightning.”

Blackie’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully. “Because you watched your parents, right? You learned from them, even if you didn’t realize it.”

Mia paused, considering that. “True… I did watch them a lot. Maybe it’s just in my blood or something.” She took a deep breath, feeling the wind still swirling around her, though more gently now.

With renewed focus, she began to experiment again, using the wind to lift herself slightly off the ground. She spun in the air, the wind currents obeying her every command, wrapping around her like a protective shield. Each move she made was more intricate than the last—twisting, turning, flipping through the air as if gravity had no hold on her.

Blackie watched in amazement. “You make it look so easy,” he remarked, his voice tinged with awe.

Mia grinned, finally settling back on the ground. The wind dissipated around her, leaving the courtyard calm once more. “It feels easy when I’m in the zone,” she admitted. “Like the wind is just an extension of me.”

Blackie jumped down from his perch, approaching Mia with a thoughtful expression. “Maybe that’s what you need to find with fire. The same connection, the same natural ease. It might take time, but you’ll get there.”

Mia nodded, feeling a little more confident after her display with the wind. “Yeah… maybe you’re right. I just have to keep practicing, just like with lightning and wind.”

Blackie purred in approval, rubbing against Mia’s leg. “And when you do, you’ll be unstoppable.”

Mia smiled down at him, a renewed determination in her eyes. “Thanks, Blackie. I’ll figure it out. I know I will.”

Mia was sitting with Blackie, feeling more relaxed after her conversation with him, when Jay walked into the courtyard. He had that familiar, playful grin on his face, but there was an underlying urgency in his voice. “Kai wants you to train,” he said, crossing his arms as he leaned against the doorframe.

Mia groaned dramatically, rolling her eyes. “Fine,” she huffed, dragging herself up from the ground. She looked around, spotting some unlit candles scattered around the courtyard. With a quick flick of her wrist, she ignited them all at once, the flames dancing merrily on the wicks. “My work here is done,” she declared with a mischievous smirk. “See you after I pull off some tricks!”

Before Jay could say anything, Mia turned away and began to walk off. But as she passed by a set of hoops used for training, she discreetly set them ablaze with her fire, the rings now glowing with bright, flickering flames. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure Jay hadn’t noticed, but his attention was elsewhere.

Blackie, however, saw everything. The cat’s eyes widened, and he darted over to Mia’s side, keeping pace with her as she headed toward the training area. “What are you doing?” he whispered urgently. “They’ll see you’ve set those hoops on fire!”

Mia bent down slightly, so only Blackie could hear her as they walked. “Keep it secret,” she whispered back, her voice a mix of excitement and anxiety. “They can’t know I can control fire. Not yet.”

Blackie looked up at her, his whiskers twitching with concern. “But they already know,” he reminded her softly, his tail swishing behind him.

Mia paused, taking in Blackie’s words. She bit her lip, realizing that she was trying to hide something that had already been exposed. “I guess you’re right…,” she muttered, standing up straight again. But there was still a part of her that wasn’t ready to fully embrace her new powers, especially not in front of Kai and the others. She was afraid of what might happen if they saw her struggling—or worse, if she lost control.

With a sigh, Mia headed toward the training grounds, trying to push her worries aside. “Alright, let’s go see what Kai has in store,” she said to Blackie, though her heart wasn’t fully in it. As she walked away, the flaming hoops flickered behind her, a reminder of the secret she was still trying to manage.

Mia approached the training area where she saw Kai and Jay deep in conversation. Their voices were low, and though she couldn't hear what they were saying, the serious expressions on their faces made her uneasy. A troubling thought crept into her mind—what if they were talking about her powers? What if they wanted to take them away?

Her heart raced as paranoia took over. Without waiting for confirmation or explanation, Mia spun on her heel and bolted back to her room. She shut the door behind her, leaning against it as she tried to calm herself down. The fear of losing her powers—the very thing that made her unique—was overwhelming.

To distract herself, Mia decided to practice. She stood in the middle of her room, summoning flames to her hands. The fire danced and flickered, casting shadows on the walls. Then she shifted her focus, letting sparks of lightning crackle between her fingers. Finally, she raised her hands, and a gust of wind swirled around her, strong and turbulent.

Blackie, who had followed her, sat on the bed and watched as Mia moved from one element to another in a near-frantic state. His fur ruffled from the wind she was creating. "Yeesh, that's a lot of training," he remarked, his voice tinged with concern.

Mia didn't stop or even slow down. She continued to manipulate the elements with intense concentration. "I always train, cat," she responded, her voice sharp but distant, as if she was somewhere else entirely. "I have to be ready for anything."

Blackie narrowed his eyes, watching her closely. "But why so much, and why now?" he asked, though he knew she wouldn't give him a straight answer. Mia was stubborn—too stubborn sometimes—and when she was like this, there was no getting through to her.

Mia didn’t respond immediately. She was too focused on controlling the chaotic mix of fire, lightning, and wind, trying to balance them all at once. Her mind was spinning with thoughts of losing control, of being too powerful, or not powerful enough. The fear of what Kai and Jay might be planning gnawed at her, driving her to push herself even harder.

Finally, after what felt like hours, she let the elements die down, exhaustion beginning to set in. She sank onto the floor, breathing heavily, her hair slightly singed from the fire she’d been wielding. Blackie padded over to her, his eyes soft with concern.

"You don’t have to prove anything to anyone, you know," he said gently, nudging her arm with his head. "Especially not to those who care about you."

Mia looked at Blackie, the cat’s words slowly sinking in. "I know," she whispered, though doubt still lingered in her heart. But for now, she was too tired to argue, too drained to keep pushing herself. So she just sat there, trying to steady her breathing, while Blackie stayed by her side, his presence a small comfort in the storm of emotions swirling inside her.

Suddenly, their were footsteps .

Kai and Jay.

Thinking quick, Mia grabbed and clutched the tennis racket lying around, her grip tight and her knuckles white. Jay and Kai entered the room, their faces a mix of concern and confusion. Blackie, sensing the tension, jumped onto the bed and looked at Mia, his eyes wide.

“You wanna go play tennis?” Blackie asked, his tone light, trying to ease the situation.

Mia's eyes flashed with a mix of anger and paranoia. "No. I wanna knock the teeth out of the people who are here to steal my powers."

Blackie’s ears twitched, taken aback. "What?! Where?!"

Mia pointed the racket at Jay and Kai, her voice trembling with frustration. “Them. Are you blind?”

Blackie recoiled slightly, his fur bristling in response to her outburst. "Sheesh, Mia, sorry," he muttered, realizing how worked up she had become.

Mia glared at Blackie, her eyes still full of suspicion. "Sorry isn't enough," she snapped, storming past Jay and Kai. As she walked out, she flicked her wrist, and every candle in the room lit up with a crackle of fire, the flames flickering ominously.

Kai and Jay exchanged worried glances as they watched her leave.

“She’s got it,” Kai said, staring. " She actually did it."

Jay sighed, his expression heavy with concern. “Yeah. But look at her now,” he replied, his gaze lingering on the door Mia had just stormed out of. “She’s so scared and angry. I don’t know how to help her.”

Kai looked at Jay. " You think we made her feel stressed?"

Jay sighed and nodded. " Yeah. And I have no way of calming her down."
