Just saying, why does Cole look so ticked off?

'"Kai.... Kai...." Someone said.

Kai's ears perked up. That voice.... it sounded.... familiar.

" Who is it?" He asked.

" Me, hotshot." The person appeared. It was Skylar.

But she wasn't alone. In her hand, was a small bundle of Kai's brown hair with a streak of Skylar's red. The bundle's face was a scowl, that looked similar to Kai's.

" Meet Kai Jr." Skylar said, extending the bundle into the dad's hands. " The name's temporary."

Kai looked down in his hands, at their child.

" Wait, this is.... our kid, right?" He asked, attentively.

" Duh. Why else do you think he has both our traits?"

" Sorry, sorry. It's just.... wow."

Then he yelled, " EVERYONE! I HAVE A KID!"

Unfortunately, he said that out loud. In an instant, Nya and Mia were at his side.

" Kai, Kai, wake up! It's just a dream!" Nya said, shaking her brother.

He didn't stir.

" Wow, he must be in a really deep sleep. Or, he's having a good dream." Mia observed.

" It must be the good dream. Why else would he yell that he has a kid?"

Mia paused. " You don't think.....?"

Nya sighed and nodded.

" You know, I feel bad for him. He really loved Skylar. And, he had someone else to take my spot."

" What do you mean?" Mia was intrigued.

" I mean, since I've had Jay to look out for me, Kai had a really hard time to replace that hole in his heart. Then he met betrayal Skylar at the Tournament of Elements, who turned to hero Skylar, who helped us with the Crystal war."

" And afterwards, Kai and Skylar went on vacation, talking about kids." Mia added, recalling that year.

Then Mia looked at the calendar. 

" But it's been years since the Merge happened. Thankfully, Lloyd secured the realms." Then she glanced at Nya. " Right?"

Nya nodded. 

" Yeah." She said.

A jolt of heat, not from flames but pure adrenaline, ripped through Kai. His eyes snapped open, the image of a scowling baby with his hair melting into red fading rapidly. He was in his bunk, the familiar scent of Nya's lavender shampoo and Jay's questionable cologne filling the room.

"Everyone! I have a kid!" the dream-echo of his own voice made him cringe.

Across the room, Nya sat bolt upright, eyes wide. "Kai? Are you alright?"

He sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Yeah, just... a weird dream." He glanced sheepishly at Mia, who was trying (and failing) to smother a snort of laughter.

"Must have been a doozy," Jay said from the doorway, hair sticking up in wild angles. "You were yelling about having a kid."

Heat flooded Kai's cheeks again. "Yeah, uh..." He fumbled for words.

Mia, ever the merciful one, chimed in. "Maybe it's a sign, Kai. You'd be a great dad, even if the little guy did inherit your temper."

Kai managed a weak smile. "Maybe someday. But right now, duty calls." He threw off the covers, the familiar thrill of being a ninja chasing away the lingering dream. "Besides, who needs a kid when you have the best team in Ninjago?"

Nya rolled her eyes but couldn't help a smile. "Alright, hotshot. Let's see what trouble we're in for today."

As they all headed out of the room, Kai couldn't shake the image of the baby's scowl completely. Maybe someday, the dream might hold a promise, but for now, he had his family – the ninja family – and that was enough.
