Chapter 1- Finding Jay

Agent Apprentice took his scanner out and pointed it at the girl. She was genuinely sad. He sighed and called, " MANAGER?! WE'VE GOT A SITUATION!"

The manager's door swung open, and a man came out and said, " What is it now, Agent?"

" Sir!" Apprentice said. " There's a girl here who wants to find someone who was lost in the merge. I asked if she had identification, and she completely broke down!"

The manager sighed and said, " I never understood your soft spot, Agent. But sure. Just this once."

The manager walked over to the small girl who was in the corner, sobbing uncontrollably.

" Who is it you were looking for?" He asked.

The girl sighed. " M-mm-my bro-ther. H-is nam-e's J-j-jay."

" Your brother." He nodded. " Okay, give a description."

The girl fumbled with her locket.

" This is him."

When the agent looked at the picture, his heart stopped. It was him.

" What was your name?"

" Mia. Mia Walker. Brother of Jay Walker, elemental master of Lightning. I'm the elemental-"

" Master of Wind." The agent said, cutting her off. Then, he sighed.

" Sorry. My memory of my old life is only coming back right now."

The girl nodded.

" It's fine."

" Would you follow me to my office? I.... have some questions."

Mia, though confused, followed the manager to his office. When he shut the door, he asked, " Your brother's lightning. What color is it?"

" Blue."

" Could you.... Show me a picture."

Mia nodded, and looked around the room. Her eyes settled on a machine she knew all too well.

" The memory-to-picture maker." She echoed, walking to it.

" You recognize it?" the manager asked.

" Yes. It's one of my brother's inventions."

" The one where you kept snatching the metal from my hand because you thought you were better than me?" Then, he shook his head and said, " Follow me."

Mia followed Jay, her confusion growing. This couldn't be a coincidence. The manager looked exactly like Jay, knew about the memory-to-picture machine, and even remembered their childhood squabbles. But how could it be?

"This is my other office," Jay said, ushering her in. It was a sterile room, filled with holographic displays and reports. "This whole Merge situation is a mess. People are scattered, memories fragmented. Explaining my amnesia wouldn't raise eyebrows, but you..." He paused. " You're.... Different. Like I knew you before."

Mia thought for a moment.

" Okay then. If you're sure you've seen me before, then control lightning."

The manager flinched.

" Say what now?" He asked.

" Control lightning. My brother could. Blue lightning, to be exact."

This girl knew his secret. The one only that yellow nightlight knew.

A jolt of electricity crackled through the air, arcing between the manager's fingertips. It was a flicker, a spark, but undeniably blue. Mia's eyes widened in a mixture of shock and relief.

"Jay?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

The manager, his face etched with confusion, stared at the dancing blue energy. It felt familiar, like a forgotten language stirring in his subconscious. He looked back at Mia, his gaze searching hers.

"I... I don't know," he admitted, his voice rough. "There are these flashes of memory, a girl with wind in her hair, arguments about a strange machine... but it's all hazy. Who are you?"

Tears welled up in Mia's eyes. "I'm Mia, your sister. The memory-to-picture machine, the arguments about metal... that was us, before the Merge."

A flicker of recognition crossed Jay's face. The name Mia resonated deep within him, a melody half-remembered. He looked around the sterile office, a strange sense of unease settling in his gut.

"The Merge," he muttered, the word tasting foreign on his tongue yet somehow familiar. "They said it would be for the better, a new world. But this... this doesn't feel right."

Mia was confused. " No one said that." Then she stepped forward, her hand outstretched. "We can figure it out together, Jay. But first, we need to get your memories back."

Jay hesitated, then grasped her hand. The touch sent a jolt through him, a warmth that spread through his body. It felt like coming home, a connection he couldn't explain but desperately craved.

"Alright," he said, his voice gaining strength. "Let's do this. But first, tell me everything. About the Merge, about what happened to us, and about this... elemental power."

Mia smiled inwardly. A new memory had resurfaced.
