Bullied
"You're okay," Kai said, his voice a soothing balm in the tense atmosphere. He opened his arms, and Jay instinctively buried his face in Kai’s shoulders, his sobs muffled against the comforting fabric of Kai’s gi.
Kai wrapped his arms around Jay, holding him tight. The warmth of Kai’s embrace seemed to provide some semblance of safety, despite the fear gnawing at Jay. "It's alright, Jay," Kai murmured. "You don’t have to be afraid."
Jay's voice was shaky as he spoke, his worries spilling out between breaths. "I'm worried... about you kicking me, everyone hitting me, Zane shooting arrows at my head..."
Kai’s grip tightened reassuringly. "Shhhh, none of that’s going to happen," he said firmly. "You’re safe here with me. None of those fears are real right now. We’re in this together."
Jay’s tears continued to fall, but Kai’s words seemed to offer a small amount of solace. "But what if—"
Kai cut him off gently, pressing a reassuring hand to the back of Jay’s head. "No 'what ifs' right now, okay? Just focus on the here and now. You’re safe. I’m here. We’re getting through this."
Jay nodded slightly, though his fear was not entirely assuaged. "Okay," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kai continued to hold Jay, his presence a steady anchor in the sea of Jay’s anxiety. "You’re stronger than you think," Kai said, his voice filled with conviction. "And we’re going to get through this together. I promise."

One day, as Kai came home from a long day, he was greeted by an unexpected and intense embrace. Jay leaped into his arms, hugging him tightly as if his very life depended on it. Kai stumbled slightly but quickly steadied himself, wrapping his arms around Jay.
“Hello to you too, buddy,” Kai said, a warm smile on his face despite the surprising reception.
Jay’s grip was firm, but his shoulders were trembling. His tears soaked into Kai’s shirt as he clung on. “Kai… I—” Jay’s voice was choked with emotion, making it hard to speak.
Seeing Jay's distress, Kai gently guided him to his bed, helping him sit down. He sat beside him, his concern evident. “Jay, what happened?” Kai asked softly, his hand resting reassuringly on Jay’s back.
Jay pulled back just enough to reveal a crumpled letter he was holding tightly in his hand. The paper was torn at the edges, and the writing was scrawled messily, clearly showing the frustration of the sender. Jay’s eyes were red and puffy from crying, and he glanced up at Kai with a mixture of fear and sadness.
Kai took the letter and unfolded it carefully. As he read through the harsh words written by the bully, his expression shifted from concern to a deep, steady resolve. After finishing, he looked at Jay, his face calm but serious.
“You actually believe this stuff?” Kai asked, his voice gentle but firm. “Jay, I know it’s hard, but this letter is just someone’s attempt to bring you down. It doesn’t define who you are or what you’re worth.”
Jay shook his head, the tears still flowing. “But… they said I’m worthless and no one will ever like me. I just— I can’t stop thinking about it.”
Kai’s heart ached at Jay’s words. He took a deep breath, moving closer and pulling Jay into another embrace. “Jay, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. But listen to me—none of what this person says is true. You’re incredible, kind, and loved. And I’m always here for you, no matter what anyone else says.”
Jay looked up at Kai, his eyes searching for reassurance. “But how do I ignore it?”
Kai wiped Jay’s tears away with his thumb, offering a reassuring smile. “It’s not easy, but you focus on the people who love and care about you. Remember, the opinions of someone who tries to hurt you don’t matter. What matters is how we see ourselves and how we let others treat us. You are strong, and you have so many people who believe in you.”
Jay nodded slowly, taking in Kai’s words. “Thanks, Kai. I didn’t know what to do or who to turn to.”
Kai squeezed Jay’s shoulder gently, his voice full of warmth and determination. “You’re never alone in this. We’ll face it together. And anytime you feel like this, you come to me. We’ll work through it, and I’ll help you remember just how amazing you are.”
Jay managed a small, grateful smile as he looked at Kai, feeling a bit of the weight lift from his shoulders. “I’m glad you’re here.”
Kai smiled back, his eyes full of love and pride. “Always, Jay. Now let’s get you settled, and we can talk more about this and find ways to handle it. And remember, you’re never alone.”
