Broken arm ( Jay)

Kai was passing by Jay's room one day when he heard a small sob, muffled but unmistakable. His heart sank as he quickly approached the door, his protective instincts kicking in. Curious and concerned, he peeked inside, only to see Jay lying on his bed, trembling and clutching one of his arms tightly.

"Jay? Hey, Jay!" Kai called out softly as he stepped into the room, trying not to startle him.

But Jay flinched anyway, his body tensing up as though bracing for something, but still, he said nothing.

Kai's worry deepened. "Jay, buddy? Are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with concern as he stepped closer.

Jay remained silent, his face buried in the pillow, the sobs still shaking his small frame. Seeing his brother like this made Kai's chest tighten with worry. He didn't want to push too hard, but he needed to know what was wrong. So, Kai sat down on the bed beside him, placing a warm, reassuring hand on Jay's shoulder. The tremors in Jay's body seemed to lessen slightly at the touch.

"Jay, please tell me what's going on," Kai urged gently. "Please."

But Jay only sobbed harder, the sound breaking Kai's heart. Kai knew Jay well enough to understand that words might not be enough to reach him right now, so he did the one thing he knew always calmed Jay down.

He gently wrapped his arms around Jay and pulled him into a hug, holding him close. Jay hesitated for a moment, then nestled closer into Kai's embrace, like a child seeking comfort. Feeling his brother's warmth and strength surrounding him, Jay's sobs started to slow, though they didn't stop completely.

Kai smiled a little, relieved to feel Jay responding to the comfort. "Jay, what's going on?" he asked again, his voice soft and soothing. "Why are you here sobbing?"

Jay shook his head, refusing to answer, but Kai wasn't going to give up. He knew something was wrong, and he wasn't about to leave his brother to deal with it alone. Gently, Kai lifted Jay's chin, forcing him to look into his eyes. The pain and fear in Jay's tear-filled eyes were enough to make Kai's heart ache.

"Jay, please," Kai repeated, his tone tender. "I want to help, but I have to know what's going on."

Jay took a shaky breath, his voice barely a whisper as he finally spoke. "M... My arm."

Kai felt a small spark of hope. They were getting somewhere now. "What happened to your arm?" he asked, trying to keep his tone calm and encouraging.

Jay's breath hitched as he tried to explain, his voice trembling. "I... It h... hurts."

Kai's expression softened with understanding. "It hurts, huh? Okay, Jay, let me take a look at it."

He gently guided Jay to sit up, still holding him close as he carefully examined the arm Jay had been clutching. Kai's hands were warm and steady, moving with the precision of someone who knew exactly what to do. As he looked over Jay's arm, he noticed some redness and swelling, a sure sign that something was wrong.

"Jay, did you bump it, or did something happen to it recently?" Kai asked, still keeping his voice gentle.

Jay nodded hesitantly. "I... I think I hit it when I fell earlier. But... but it didn't hurt this much until now."

Kai's brow furrowed in concern. "Why didn't you tell me earlier, buddy?" he asked softly. "You know you can always come to me if something's wrong."

Jay sniffled, looking down in shame. "I... I didn't want to bother you. I thought it would go away."

Kai's heart ached hearing that. "Jay, you're never a bother, okay? Not ever," Kai said firmly, brushing a tear from Jay's cheek. "You're my brother, and I'm always here for you, no matter what."

Jay nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I'm sorry, Kai."

Kai shook his head, giving Jay a reassuring smile. "You don't have to be sorry. I'm just glad you told me now so we can take care of it."

Kai carefully moved to support Jay's arm as he continued to check it, feeling for anything out of place. "I'm going to wrap this up for you, okay? It might be a sprain, so we need to take it easy for a while. And if it still hurts later, we'll get it checked out properly."

Jay nodded again, feeling a little more at ease with Kai's calm, reassuring presence. As Kai began to wrap his arm with a soft bandage, Jay felt the pain start to lessen, both physically and emotionally. He knew that with Kai by his side, he was going to be okay.

When Kai was finished, he pulled Jay back into a comforting hug. "There, all done. How's it feeling now?"

Jay leaned into Kai, feeling safe and cared for. "It's... it's better. Thanks, Kai."

Kai smiled, giving Jay's hair a gentle ruffle. "Anytime, buddy. Anytime."
