A long day in the Park
Just so you know, Jay and Mia's parents died when Mia was two, but their parents were explorers, helping Wu with something he hasn't told them about ( the merge). So when they're gone, Mia comes to stay with the ninja.
Jay sighed, looking around the park. " Isn't this the perfect place for a picnic?"
One year old Mia giggled and clapped her hands.
" Yeah, nice place to unwind and relax." Kai replied, stretching his arms.
" Finally! Do you know how heavy this wagon is?!" Cole complained, plopping himself next to Kai.
" Yes. I'm the one that packed. Better to be ready for everything!" Nya replied, taking out the things and setting up.
" D'y. V'gn." Mia said, pointed to the wagon.
" You can't sit in the wagon yet, it still has stuff in it!" Jay replied, picking his sister up and setting her down.
Mia gave him a very angry look, with crossed arms and furrowed brows for complimentary.
The ninja laughed.
" Jay, your sister wants to be in the wagon. Or else she'll go buy one herself!" Lloyd teased, earning a groan from Jay.
Zane's eyes flickered. " Actually, the same thing happened, but Mia bought a horse instead."
" Yeah, because her rocking horse broke and she was impatient." Jay replied.
Nya took out the last picnic necessity and set Mia in.
" There you go. In the wagon, safe and sound." She cooed, earning happy giggles and claps.
" So.... What should we do?" Kai asked, tapping the grass.
The others shrugged.
Mia, though, had a great idea.
In her curiosity, she accidentally sent herself hurling down the hill, and up another, and down another.
Nya was the first to notice. " Oh, look at Mia. Happily riding the wagon."
Then, she shook her head and yelled, " HAPPILY RIDING THE WAGON?!"
Jay's eyes widened in panic. "Mia!" he shouted, sprinting after the runaway wagon.
Kai and Cole were right behind him, scrambling to catch up. "How does she get into these situations?" Kai muttered, his face a mixture of worry and amusement.
"She's Jay's sister. Of course she's adventurous!" Cole retorted, his legs pumping harder as they ran.
Nya and Lloyd were already ahead, trying to intercept the wagon from another angle. "We've got to stop it before it hits the bottom of the hill!" Nya called out, her voice laced with urgency.
Lloyd nodded, his focus entirely on the speeding wagon. "Zane, can you calculate the trajectory?" he shouted over his shoulder.
Zane's eyes flickered as he quickly processed the information. "Approximately ten seconds before it reaches the bottom. We need to act fast!"
Jay's heart raced as he closed the distance. "Mia, hold on!" he yelled, praying she wouldn't get hurt.
Mia, meanwhile, was having the time of her life, giggling as the wagon bumped and jostled down the hill. Her tiny hands gripped the sides, her eyes wide with excitement.
Just as the wagon neared the bottom, Nya and Lloyd managed to position themselves to catch it. With a coordinated effort, they grabbed the sides and brought it to a halt, just inches from a large rock.
Jay reached them moments later, breathless and relieved. He scooped Mia out of the wagon, hugging her tightly. "Are you okay, Mia?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.
Mia giggled and clapped her hands, oblivious to the danger she had just been in. "Whee! Again!"
Jay chuckled, his relief palpable. "Maybe not, kiddo. I think one thrill ride is enough for today."
Kai and Cole finally caught up, panting heavily. "Man, she's got a need for speed," Kai joked, ruffling Mia's hair.
Cole shook his head, laughing. "She's going to be a handful when she grows up."
Nya placed a hand on Jay's shoulder. "Good save, big brother. You've got quick reflexes."
Lloyd nodded in agreement. "We all do. It’s what makes us a great team."
Zane, ever the practical one, spoke up. "Perhaps we should find a flatter area for our picnic. Less chance of unexpected excitement."
The group laughed, the tension easing as they gathered their things and found a safer spot to set up. They spread out a blanket and started unpacking the food, enjoying the sunny day and each other's company.
Jay sat down with Mia on his lap, holding her close. "You scared me there for a second," he whispered, kissing the top of her head.
Mia looked up at him with wide eyes and a big smile. "Love you, Jay."
Jay's heart melted. "Love you too, Mia. Always."
Then, Mia decided to go investigate a group of trees while the others set up the picnic basket.
Again.
This time, Mia decided the trees weren't so great.
So she grabbed her stroller and, with the help of a nearby hill, pushed herself off and into the stroller as she hurled down more hills.
Again, Nya noticed. " Where's Mia?"
" Just hurling down SOME HILLS!?" Cole yelled, pointing to a small figure in the distance.
Jay’s heart skipped a beat as he saw Mia in the stroller, careening down the hills. “Not again!” he shouted, already sprinting in her direction.
The rest of the ninja quickly followed, Nya leading the charge this time. “We really need to get her a seatbelt for that thing,” she muttered under her breath as they ran.
Cole kept pace beside her, shaking his head in disbelief. “She’s got a knack for this kind of chaos, doesn’t she?”
Kai, panting heavily, quipped, “More like a magnet for trouble.”
Lloyd glanced at Zane. “Any calculations this time?”
Zane nodded. “Approximately fifteen seconds before she reaches the bottom. The incline is steeper, so we need to move faster.”
Jay’s legs burned as he pushed himself harder. “Mia! Hold on tight!” he yelled, his voice carrying over the distance.
Mia, unfazed and full of giggles, was enjoying the wild ride once more. Her laughter echoed in the air as the stroller bounced along the uneven ground.
Just as before, Nya and Lloyd positioned themselves strategically, preparing to intercept the runaway stroller. “We’ve got this,” Nya said, determination etched on her face.
As the stroller barreled towards them, Jay and Kai flanked it from either side. With a coordinated effort, they all lunged forward, grabbing the stroller and bringing it to an abrupt halt just as it reached the bottom.
Jay immediately scooped Mia up, checking her over for any injuries. “You okay, Mia?” he asked, his voice a mix of worry and relief.
Mia clapped her hands again, eyes sparkling with excitement. “Again, again!”
Jay laughed, shaking his head. “I think we’ve had enough thrills for one day, little sis.”
Nya ruffled Mia’s hair. “You’ve got quite the adventurous spirit, Mia.”
Cole, still catching his breath, added, “You’re going to give us all heart attacks before you’re five.”
Lloyd grinned. “She’s just getting started.”
Zane, ever practical, suggested, “Perhaps we should find an activity that keeps Mia on level ground.”
As they walked back to their picnic spot, Jay carried Mia, who was now content to play with a flower she had picked. “You really need to stay where we can see you, Mia,” he gently scolded.
Mia looked up at him with innocent eyes. “Love you, Jay.”
Jay’s heart melted for the second time that day. “Love you too, Mia. Let’s stick to safer adventures, okay?”
Back at the picnic spot, they finally managed to set up the blanket and food without further incident. The group settled in, sharing a meal and stories, laughter ringing out across the park.
Jay kept a close eye on Mia, who was now happily munching on a sandwich. “I think we’re good now,” he said, relaxing for the first time that day.
Nya nodded. “Just another day in the life of the ninja.”
Kai smiled. “And it’s always an adventure with Mia around.”
As the sun climbed higher in the sky, the picnic was in full swing. Laughter and chatter filled the air, but the peaceful moment was about to be upended once again. Mia, having finished her sandwich and playful interactions, spotted the wagon that had earlier been a source of amusement. A mischievous glint sparked in her eyes as she abandoned her half-eaten cookie and made a beeline for her ride.
Jay’s moment of relaxation was abruptly cut short by a familiar sound – the squeak of stroller wheels gaining speed. He looked up to see Mia once again making her daring escape, this time down an even longer hill.
“Not again!” he groaned, leaping to his feet.
The rest of the ninja followed, their picnic quickly abandoned. Nya’s eyes widened as she saw the terrain Mia was navigating – dodging trees and hitting makeshift ramps, her giggles echoing through the park.
“She’s got a real knack for finding trouble,” Kai muttered, sprinting after her.
Lloyd shook his head. “At least she’s enjoying herself?”
“Not helping, Lloyd!” Jay shouted, running as fast as he could.
Mia, blissfully unaware of the chaos she was causing, leaned into the ride, the stroller bouncing wildly as it hit another ramp. Her laughter was infectious, even if it was sending Jay’s heart into his throat.
Cole, panting heavily, yelled, “We need to intercept her before she gets hurt!”
Zane, calculating as always, responded, “There’s a flatter area up ahead. We can set up a barrier there to stop her.”
The ninja quickly adjusted their course, racing to get ahead of the runaway stroller. Nya and Lloyd grabbed a large blanket from the picnic supplies, stretching it out as a makeshift net.
“Mia, slow down!” Jay shouted, though he knew she probably couldn’t hear him.
As the stroller neared the flatter area, Nya and Lloyd braced themselves, holding the blanket taut. Jay and Kai flanked either side, ready to grab Mia if the blanket didn’t work.
With a final, breathless push, the stroller hit the blanket and came to an abrupt stop, Mia tumbling gently into the soft fabric. She looked up, wide-eyed and giggling, as Jay swooped in to pick her up.
“Mia, you’re going to give me a heart attack,” Jay said, his voice a mix of exasperation and relief.
Mia giggled, clapping her hands. “Again, again!”
“No more stunts, Mia,” Nya said firmly, though she couldn’t help but smile at her infectious enthusiasm.
Kai ruffled her hair. “You’re a little daredevil, aren’t you?”
Cole, catching his breath, added, “We really need to keep a closer eye on you, kiddo.”
Lloyd shook his head, a grin on his face. “She’s a handful, that’s for sure.”
Zane, ever practical, suggested, “Perhaps we should find a safer way for her to expend her energy.”
Jay, holding Mia tightly, nodded. “Definitely. No more strollers, okay, Mia?”
Mia pouted slightly but then nodded, seemingly content for the moment. “Okay, Jay.”
As they walked back to their picnic spot, everyone kept a close watch on Mia, ensuring she didn’t get any more wild ideas. They finally managed to settle down, this time making sure the stroller was securely out of reach.
Despite the chaos, the ninja couldn’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie and love. Mia’s adventurous spirit, while exhausting, was also endearing. They shared stories, laughter, and food, enjoying the peace of the park.
Jay kept a close eye on Mia, who was now happily playing with a toy. “I think we’re good now,” he said, a hint of caution still in his voice.
Nya nodded. “Just another day in the life of the ninja.”
Kai smiled. “And it’s always an adventure with Mia around.”
As the sun began to dip, casting long shadows across the park, Mia’s eyes caught sight of Cole’s car parked nearby. A mischievous smile spread across her face. Without a moment’s hesitation, she dashed over to it. Her tiny hands gripped the steering wheel as she revved the engine with a joyful squeal.
“What the—?” Jay exclaimed, his eyes widening as he saw Mia take off in Cole’s car.
Cole, who had been rummaging through the picnic supplies, rushed over in a panic. “How can this be happening?! That’s my car!”
Nya, trying to catch her breath from the earlier chases, looked at Jay with a mix of horror and disbelief. “What are we gonna do when she grows older?!”
Kai, equally flustered, could only shake his head. “Dunno. She’s already out of control.”
Jay slapped his forehead. “Oh, duh! Mom and Dad let her drive all the time!”
Mia, now behind the wheel, had found a small drill in the glove compartment. With a gleeful squeal, she started drilling a small hole into the dashboard.
“Maybe not,” Cole muttered, watching in dismay as Mia’s antics continued. “She’s never done anything like this before!”
Mia, oblivious to the chaos she was causing, sped off down the park’s main road. The car roared as she navigated the streets with alarming enthusiasm. The wheels screeched as she made sharp turns and zipped through the city.
“Watch out for—” Jay shouted, but it was too late. Mia veered the car onto a low building, the vehicle skimming the edge of the structure as she used it as a ramp.
Cole and the others watched in horror as Mia maneuvered the car onto rooftops, her giggles echoing in the distance. Jay winced, shaking his head. “That’s gonna leave a mark.”
The car bounced from one building to another, Mia’s gleeful shouts blending with the screech of tires against concrete. The ninja raced after her, trying to keep up and, more importantly, trying to figure out how to stop her before things got even more out of hand.
As Mia finally brought the car back to ground level, she squealed with delight, her eyes wide with exhilaration. The car was slightly battered, but it had survived her wild ride. She parked it haphazardly and hopped out, looking extremely pleased with herself.
Jay, Cole, Nya, and Kai finally caught up, their faces a mix of relief and frustration. Jay took a deep breath before walking over to Mia. “Alright, Mia, you’ve had your fun. Now, let’s get this car back in one piece.”
Cole inspected the damage with a sigh. “I guess I should have known this was coming.”
Nya put a comforting hand on Cole’s shoulder. “We’ll figure something out. At least she’s having fun.”
Kai, still trying to process what had happened, said, “She’s definitely keeping us on our toes.”
Mia, grinning, hopped back into the car and patted the steering wheel. “This was awesome!”
As the group worked to get the car back to normal, they couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Despite the chaos, the day had been filled with a sense of camaraderie and adventure that they would remember for a long time.
“Well,” Jay said with a chuckle, “That’s one for the books. What’s next?”
The others, finally catching up, were barely able to keep pace with Mia’s latest escapade. Lloyd, thinking quickly, suggested, “What if I push you around?”
Mia shook her head vehemently. “No fun! That fun!” With that, she hopped back into the wagon, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Without missing a beat, she zoomed off, using the wagon like a makeshift go-kart. She careened through the park, darting through trees, over small bumps, and straight into a large pond. Water splashed up as the wagon plunged in, soaking everything nearby, including the ninja.
Jay, drenched and exasperated, watched as Mia, completely unfazed, continued her watery adventure. The others, also soaking wet and covered in mud, tried to regain their composure.
Mia, having a blast, splashed through the pond and onto the grassy bank, where she found a patch of mud. She gleefully scooped up handfuls and started tossing them at the ninja, who were now covered in brown, gooey muck.
“This is getting out of hand,” Jay muttered, trying to wipe mud from his face. “Next thing I know, when she’s older, she’ll be carrying a lot of weapons and making us escape rooms!”
Nya, struggling to clean the mud from her eyes, laughed despite the chaos. “Well, if that’s the case, at least we’ll be well-prepared!”
Lloyd, still trying to figure out how to deal with Mia, said, “She’s certainly full of surprises. We might need to build a new plan for dealing with her wild side.”
Cole, looking at the mess Mia had made, added, “Yeah, but for now, let’s just make sure she doesn’t drive us all crazy.”
Mia, noticing their frustration, finally slowed down. Her muddy face broke into a wide grin as she saw the expressions of her friends and family.
With a loud splash, she finally exited the pond and plopped down into the grass, looking very pleased with her antics.
“Done!” she announced triumphantly.
Jay, shaking his head with a rueful smile, walked over to her. “Alright, Mia, let’s get you cleaned up and figure out how to fix the mess.”
