Heyy!! This is the 12th challenge! And, I'm really late (Again)! It's almost a routine to be late now... But I finally managed to get back to write, after November being so difficult for me to do so. I thought about one of the last sentences to this story before even planning what would happen, but I think it worked quite well. I hope you like it!

Challenge: Save tonight
Pairing: Greenflame (Kai x Lloyd)
It's settled not much time after Garmadon had been banished to the Cursed Realm, but for this story to make sense, or Bounty has a bedroom for each ninja, or they're already living at the Temple of Airjitzu, each ninja with a bedroom. I think that it what you need to know, so lets get into the story!

[3rd person's P.O.V.]

It was a sunny summer morning in Ninjago, perfect to go and stay outside, play with the family and friends. It was around 10am, and people were going to the beach, to the pool, eating ice cream... Well, doing what we usually do in the summer. It was a day out for the Ninjas, so each one of them was planning something different to do, almost all of them not wanting to stay at the Bounty.

Why almost? Because a certain Green Ninja didn't want to even go out of his bedroom. Since his father was banished to the Cursed Realm, Lloyd hadn't been himself anymore. He wouldn't play videogames, eat candy, read comics, train, talk... His friends would hardly see him, because he only went out of his bedroom at night, when everybody else was sleeping.

They preferred not to bother him, leaving him alone doing whatever he did... And that was crying. He only wanted to cry, and bring his father back (but unfortunately, this last thing wasn't possible). Losing a father more than once is too much for anybody, and he wasn't reacting well at it. And without any help, because he would always refuse it, his pain and feeling of loneliness were only getting worse.

The one who seemed to care the most of Lloyd was Kai. He knew how it was to loose parents, he lost both of them when he was 5, but he didn't know how it was to loose one of them more than one time, only that it was horrible. He would constantly knock on the younger's door and ask if he needed anything, or if he wanted to do anything... but the answer was always the same, no.

The Master of Fire was worried that Lloyd would do something bad to himself, or that he would loose himself in his own pain, and if it did happen, he would never forgive himself, because he promised to take care of the Master of Energy... And he liked him. Kai knew he liked Lloyd like more than a friend, but he also knew it was almost impossible for his friend to feel the same way, so he just hid it. He acted as if there was nothing too wrong without Lloyd, but on the inside he was very hurt. He missed Lloyd so much, that it was becoming more and more difficult to continue acting cool.

In this said day out, Kai asked to come into his friend's room several times, but when the answer was similar to the others, he had an idea: to break into the room.

So, he went out and bought some snacks and candy, then got back at the Bounty and picked up some videogames, the Green Ninja's favourites. He went to the green door, and knocked three times.

--Hey dude, please let me in, it's me Kai.

--Get out, I don't wanna talk -- Came the muffled response, in a hoarse voice.

--Lloyd, please... It's only me, the others haven't come back yet. I want the best for you... And I have candy!

--I don't want candy. Get out.

--I can't "get out" if I'm not even there yet... but if you want me to go in there by the hard way, ok.

The blond was a little confused by what "the hard way" could be, but when he doesn't heard nothing, he just shrugged and laid back on his bed, face in his pillow.

But not even 5 minutes later, there was a big noise, and the door opened. Scared, he looked at it, seeing Kai with a bag of things, the things he brought for Lloyd.

--What do you want? -- He said in an annoyed tone -- I told you to get out, didn't I?

His straight blonde hair was messy, his normally shiny green eyes were a bit red from crying and darker than usual, with bags under it, and his face seemed like he had been crying for a long time. His green clothes were messed, just like the rest of the room.

He was acting like he was very annoyed at Kai, but it wasn't totally true. Yes, he didn't want Kai to enter, nor to see him that way, but he was also a little bit happy that Kai didn't give up on trying to talk to him, and that was him, not any if the others. Lloyd really liked Kai, but was afraid of ruining their friendship by telling him that, so he just kept it to himself. Just another thing he hid...

Noticing the sad face in his younger friend's face, Kai quickly went to his side and hugged him.

--Hey... Sorry for breaking into your room, but I missed you. I brought snacks, candy and some videogames for us to play, ok? We had the day out, and you don't seem to have had a happy day, while all the others have, so let's have some fun! -- With that, he smiled and placed on the bed the bag with all things, closed the door and turned the TV on.

During the rest of the afternoon, the two Ninjas played and chatted, but the blond seemed to be faking his happiness... At least until something happened in the game and Kai made a funny comment about it, that made Lloyd truly laugh. His eyes lightened up, while his soft laugh filled the room.

The Master of Fire was surprised by the reaction of the other, but grinned hearing that.

--Ohh... How I missed and like your smile and laughter...

What he didn't noticed, though, was that he said that out loud, and Lloyd heard it.

--You... You like it? A-and you m-missed it? -- He asked in a soft cute tone, curious to know if he heard it right, because if it was right, maybe Kai did like him! Only with this thought, his hope came back, and his heartbeat gone a little bit faster.

--Uhh.. Yeah, maybe. Like, hum, I haven't seen you smile for a long time, ha ha... B-but it isn't in that way you thought, I think... -- Kai was trying to cover the fact he said more than he should, and that he was blushing. What if Lloyd discovered and hated him? No, no, no, this couldn't happen. But as soon as he answered with that, Lloyd's face seemed to darken a bit, as if he was hurt... Does he like me? So, trying to get the smile back in his friend's face, and hoping his thoughts were right, Kai corrected himself -- Well... I actually said what you heard, that I-I like your smile and laughter... B-Because I-I Like you Lloyd, like more than a friend...

The Red Ninja's face and clothes were the same color now, but the feeling in his chest of putting all his deepest feelings out was very good. For some seconds, while the Master of Energy processed what he just confessed, he thought he chose the wrong option, that Lloyd would never want to talk to him again... But instead of happening this, the younger leaned in and gave a small quick kiss on the other's lips, while blushing crimson red.

--I-I like y-you too, in a more-than-friends way K-Kai...

Now, both of them were redder than Kai's gi. But they were happy, both of them. Lloyd was pleased with this warm feeling inside he hadn't felt for a long time, like all of his life was not a huge mess anymore, just a small one. He was happy again. Well, at least, for now.

They continued playing games togheter after it, and eating lots of candy, finishing with all the food Kai had brought.

It was almost midnight when they started feeling sleepy, so decided they'd better turn off everything and sleep. Instead of Kai heading back to his own bedroom, he stayed with the blonde, after being asked to do so. When they were almost asleep in Lloyd's bed, the older one whispered:

--Hey, just as you saved your videogame some minutes ago, save tonight, so you'll never forget it, and when you're sad, you can just remember it and be happy again. Or, just come to me, I'll do the possible and the impossible to make you feel better and happy, because I love you Lloyd. -- Saying the last part, he held the other one closer and tighter

--I love you too Kai -- He calmly answered, enjoying the embrace and the warmth comeing from the other.

And with that, they both fell asleep in each other's arms, finally having a good night's sleep, not even thinking about the rest of the team, and the next morning. And little did they know, Wu was now in front of that bedroom, looking at them from the not-totally-closed door, smiling at his nephew, who was finally in peace again, after what happened to his father.
