Chapter 24: Final days

A few hours passed before the faintest call was heard coming from the knocked- out blonde ninja. In his view of vision, two girls were seen looking down on him. "Lloyd! Thanks FSM you're doing alright." cried one of them, she had white hair that was elegantly tied in a high bun. Lloyd, being awaken seconds ago, groaned as he found himself staring at the small room's ceiling. "Where am-" he was cut off by another voice. It was without a doubt the other woman with the white haired girl.

"Young Lloyd Garmadon, you're awake." smiled the old woman. The blonde tried to stand but winced as he felt his left arm hurting slightly. He grasped his arm. Impossible that it was asleep, it hurt way too much. "Ugh this is annoying, what happened to my arm?" He wondered only to have Harumi answer him. "You see, we tried to get Garmadon out of the room but may have targeted your left arm. That's why there's a bandage wrapped around it." She pointed out. The boy looked down to his arm. "Dad.." he frowned.

"Listen Lloyd. How are you feeling?" asked Harumi once again. It took several minutes for him to respond to her inquiry. He sighed and laid back down on the pillow. His view was once again, returning to the wooden ceiling. "I think I'm doing fine. Where did you actually send my father to? Did you capture him?" He wondered, a bit worriedly. Harumi and Mistaké looked at eachother before facing back Lloyd. Who changed his expression to a rather mortified one. "You didn't kill-" he was cut off by Mistaké. "I assure you, young master, he's fine." She repeated, raising her tone slightly.

Lloyd sighed in relief. "But here is he?" He questioned again. Ofcourse it was a normal question coming from someone's child to ask something like this. But Mistaké was mostly surprised at the fact that the minute that he woke up, his father was the first thing on his mind. It wasn't unlike Lloyd, but wasn't like him either. It was a little of in-between. "He retreated back at Borg tower. It impresses me that he cherishes that dull place." She replied quietly. When the blonde turned to the side, he noticed a small side table along with a note and a cup. "What's this?" He picked up the note.

It was written: 'I had Mistaké make you a small remedy but you could easily mistake it for tea. That's because it was this substance was made from the finest of leaves around Ninjago city at her disposal. While I write this, the leaves are still melting in the brew's warm temperature. But I don't know if it'll still be there by the time you drink it. With much love, Lloyd. -Harumi.' The minute he put the note down, he turned to Harumi with a warm smile. The girl on the other hand was a blushing mess. "I wrote that note because I thought you'd wake up in...i don't know! When we would have been out!" She tried to cover up. But Lloyd just giggled, gratefully.

"Well I appreciate the small note Rumi. Thanks for the concern." His fingers intertwined when wrapped against the cup's holder. It was a rather elegant teacup, a but miniature but what could we say about Mistaké's collection of them? FSM knows where she got them so it wants really a valid option to ask. When he took a sip of the remedy, his eyes widened in surprise and slight confusion at the taste. He pulled the cup away from his lips and swallowed the whole. From there, he critiqued the drink. "I can't tell if it's supposed to be sweet or bitter." admitted the green ninja with an amused smile. As if it was self-embarrassment.

Mistaké corrected him. "Actually. It's a bit of both. So you're not exactly wrong on that one." She replied to him much to Lloyd's surprise. He lifted the teacup and took a view under it. All he saw was the cup's bottom, a soft beige colour was painted all around the cannikin along with small blue dots in particular places. Very fancy, according to Harumi earlier today. After his small examination he placed the cup right under his noise and sniffed the remedy. "All I feel Is its warmth. No flavour at all." said Lloyd and sipped. Mistaké chuckled at his assumption. "You do a lot of observations?"

The drink was half-way done when Lloyd responded. He put the taste aside and kept one thing in mind: "This is medicine. I won't get cured if I don't drink this. No matter the taste, I want to get better so I won't disappoint father."
"Ofcourse. It's the job of a ninja, no?" He ended it off with a question for the old woman herself. Mistaké gave him wide eyes, showing her confusion and surprise. Lloyd's expression hardened. ' Crap. Did I say something unlike the 'nice' Lloyd?' He thought mentally. But to his relief, she said: "I'm just surprised, young one. It's the first time you really talked about it. I'm almost impressed. But yes you're right, it's very Important to do your observations. Especially around Ninjago city. You'll do a splendid job. I think I should assign you with the: '40 observations of the candle.' task." encouraged the woman.

The '40 observations of the candle.' was a speciality of the old woman. She'd have you stay in a small room with no windows nor ventilation. Only yourself and a small candle, burning every minute. The deforming wax would be your only sight. From there, you'd have to observe the little details that the candle leaves whole burning down to a puddle of the coloured substance.
~~~~~~~~
"No thanks, Mistaké." laughed Lloyd, denying the tedious offer. The woman waved her left hand in the air as a sign that there was no need for apologies. Besides, she was only pulling his leg. He's aware that the ninja had important business to do around town, like saving it, for one. The other was to fix brown relations between him and his family and third was to strengthen his bonds with his loved ones. Mistaké looked at Harumi one time. She saw such care, such love in the young woman for this man. According to her, it was one special love.
The drink was finished when the green ninja had asked the two women in the room: "Where's the others?". The first one to respond was Harumi. With a smile she told him exactly the status of their team. "Nya's once again driving the ship after the little run-in with Garmadon. She wishes you to get better however. Your mother is by the deck as well. I still don't know what's up with Skylor though. I'm worried for her, you know?" She frowned at the master of amber's mention. Lloyd looked down. "I see. Well thanks for the status update, Rumi." With his right hand, he lifted the sheets off him.
"What are you doing? You're still not fully recovered." argued Harumi, who immediately paced to his side. If he was gonna fall out of bed and break the link between his bandaged arms and the IV machine, she'd be there. Lloyd shook his head when she placed her palm on his shoulder. "I assure you I'm fine. I want to see the others." He requested. Though Mistaké intervened the two teens. "I'm afraid Harumi is right Lloyd. If you'd like, we can call your mother and Nya here." She suggested. Not really wanting to go fourth with that plan, he had to accept. "Go ahead." He repositioned himself to a more comfortable spot on the mattress.
~~~~~~~~
By the time the old woman returned from the deck, two individuals walked inside. Making the people inside the small medical room to: five people. "Hi Lloyd, how are you doing?" questioned Nya, who placed her hands on her hips. Lloyd faced her and his mother who have entered the room with delighted smiles at his awaken state. "Hi guys. I'm doing fine. Mistaké and Rumi gave me this remedy moments ago and I think I'm doing fine." He mentioned to the others.

Misako placed her hands on his shoulders. "Son, I'm so glad you're feeling better. You don't know how worried I was." She admitted, her cheeks becoming light pink when Nya intervened with a small cackle. "You had no idea indeed. She was on the verge of tears." The water ninja teased. Harumi, Mistaké and Lloyd all chuckled at the mention. Misako huffed and turned to Nya. "You wouldn't understand. You're not a mother." She reasoned with a jokingly strict tone. Nya laughed once again before Harumi grinned. "She will. In the future. I think Jay will strongly agree either way." She teased the water ninja for Misako's revenge.

Nya's face flushed to a soft pink. A hot blush had managed to bloom on her face at the small remark that the former quiet one had made. "Stay out of this! Rumi!" She urged her, even daring to give her a hard punch on the cheek. That's when Mistaké came in the small teasing argument. "You shouldn't be talking, young Harumi. How about you and Lloyd?" She madly grinned in addition to her statement. The three girls out of four were now madly red. "Uh-Huh! That is true!" Nya approved with a victorious expression on her frontage.

"I'll be happy for the both of you if that occurs in the future. Make me proud, Harumi." Misako agreed to both the water ninja and the old woman's affirmations. The only one flustered on the topic was the white haired girl. She refused to make eye contact with her lover for it'd be awkward according to her. What would Lloyd say? Would he feel embarrassed as well? "Um...Can we just switch the topic? Please!" She begged the two other girls, who have certainly won in dominance. "To what though? Got a better topic?" Nya was now grinning as well. Harumi suggested one thing: "It's Lloyd's final days in this little room. Judging by his state, he should be fine. Plus, je took the remedy Mistaké gave him." She mentioned to the other girls.

"That is true!" Misako joined in as she headed for the wooden door that was half opened. Lloyd turned to face her, after being snapped out of his internal thoughts. But he still heard the commotion going on earlier about the next generation and such. "Son, I think you'll fairly enjoy this little 'welcome back' trip we have planned." The green ninja's mother says before leaving the small room. Nya and Harumi turned to Lloyd. "Hear that? You'll have tons of fun, we promise." they said in union.

But the sparring trip wasn't Lloyd's main priority. Or we could say, initial thought on his mind at the moment. It was noticeable that Harumi, Nya nor Mistaké weren't paying much attention to the green ninja at the moment. For example, they were talked in between woman about the sparring trip and so on. They didn't have the time to catch the hint of their upcoming downfall. Clenching his fist, Lloyd thought only one thing. "Children? How pleasant.". The three girls didn't realize, their ally's pupils flashing a bright crimson red for an iota amount of time before returning back to the recognizable shade of green.

A/N Hi guys! LillaSmolBean here with the next chapter of Reconciled hearts! If you enjoyed, please leave a vote and comment down below your thoughts! Me and the co-writer: jdizzle would love to hear them! Now that I have extra space in this author's note, I guess I can clarify things about the '40 observations of the candle'. I'm not kidding you, it's an actual thing and I've done it last year. It had to be one of the most boring 1 hour's I've ever had in my life in science class. So basically, it's a small tease that my teacher pulls on our grade whenever we refused to work. Amazing threat teacher, I couldn't be more proud. "If you refuse to listen in class or make the effort to pass your exams, I'll send you off to the science class where you'll do the '40 observations of the candle.'!". When I was writing this chapter, I had no intention to add that in. But figured, why not. It'll be a fun joke for myself and hopefully for you guys as well. Like seriously, just imagine yourself watching over a melting wax candle for an hour straight?
