Taking Notes|Ninjago Shortshots|Jaya
Okay, this one is extremely short. Like, really short. I've always wanted to make a book showcasing canon Jaya throughout the seasons through oneshots about off screen scenarios.
Think of it like EmphaKat 's 'Love of my Life' Jaya book, which is honestly the most realistic and canon Jaya I've ever read.
Anyways, after reading this extremely short teaser, should I do it after I finish Crafted hearts or If Only?
The reason this is so short is because I wanna focus on that Zane & Lloyd (yes, it's platonic) oneshot I've been working on. Consider this as a pilot if I do end up making that book.
Onto the story!
Nya's POV
"Okay, I think that's all for now," I said, erasing the whiteboard behind me. "Have you taken any notes?"
When I turned around, though, all four of them were doing everything but that.
I do have to agree that I've been a little paranoid ever since my date with Jay. I mean, that poison could still be in him for all we know! But then again, was filling four full whiteboards with notes really that necessary? In my opinion, yes. I mean, we've got to know everything about our enemy before we try to attack them again.
I turned my attention back to the boys, slowly making my way around the table.
Kai was, as always, sleeping, as he rested his feet on the table, wearing his very old- and very dirty, mind you-shoes. His arms were beside his head as he was leaning against his chair.
I waved in front of his face, nothing.
I pulled his chair back, letting him fall. I decided to leave it at that, ignoring his groans and complaints.
Cole's notebook was smudged with something black. Maybe he took notes for once.
"Hey!" he yelled as I grabbed his notebook, flipping through the pages.
My eyes widened a little. "These drawings are... surprisingly good," I said to myself. "But I asked for notes."
I handed him his notebook, moving on to Jay. He must have taken at least one note, right? It was him who turned into a snake, after all.
I couldn't help but notice his head following me as I circled around the table. And also while I was talking on the whiteboard. Probably the day before as well... Just in general, really.
As always, he had that goofy smile on his face that always made me blush. Not this time, though.
While he was staring at me, his hand was busy writing something in his notebook.
Finally, someone who listens.
"Can I see your notes, Jay?" I bent down my back a little to face him.
He blinked before quickly covering his blue notebook up with his arms. He shook his head, gulping.
"Jay, they're just notes..."
He shook his head again, bringing the notebook closer to his chest.
I guess I'll have to use a new tactic.
"Uh, guys? Do you hear that horn too or is it just me?"
Everyone's heads turned towards the door, including Jay's. Aha!
I quickly snatched the notebook from his grip, reading through it before he could stop me.
But these weren't notes.
I could hear the other three chuckling in the background as I read through them. I guess I am going to blush today either way.
I scanned the little heart doodles, the first letter of our names, literally everything on the page. Every little detail, from the odd combination of our names, ranging from Jaya to Nyay (seriously, how do you pronounce that?) to the lightning bolts and poorly drawn samurai helmets at the top.
My face was probably already looking like a beetroot, so I simply tried to hide it, rubbing my hot cheeks rather slowly.
I looked back at Jay, who had his even redder face buried in his hands and couldn't help but chuckle. Poor guy.
With a shy smile, I bent down, placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
Gosh, I love doing that. The first time I ever did was just yesterday and he wasn't even a human back then. Admittedly, it did feel a little weird kissing scales instead of skin, but it still felt like Jay.
And that's all that mattered to me.
"Good job, Jay," I told him before turning to the last of the Ninja.
He kept telling me about something, but I was just not able to focus. Since when have I become so boy-crazy?
I shook my head once he was finished, blinking. "Huh? I didn't catch that."
"Of course you didn't catch that," Kai said from behind me as Cole made kissing noises in the background. Boys.
Zane turned to me with a gentle smile. "As I was saying, I have all of your notes saved into my hard disk. I will print them and hand them over to you as soon as possible."
"Right, thanks Zane," I grinned, "I guess I'll go now..."
Oh, right.
"Um, Jay? Are we meeting at our usual hour tomorrow?" I told him, awkwardly clutching my own notes to my chest.
Does he even remember where the workshop is?
"What? Yeah, yeah, I'll be there," he said with a smile on his face, completely dissociated from reality.
I only gave him a smile, giggling as I was leaving.
I think I broke him.
