Bloodlust - Jaya AU
Jay's POV
My legs are curled up to my chest, my arms holding them as I sit on the lush blue bed. My eyes are fixated on the window, the only gateway to the outside world. If my powers weren't suppressed, I would use them to escape. Instead, they've been inhibited by a vengestone cuff around my left ankle. I'm hundreds of feet from the ground, and without my powers, that fall would probably be fatal. However, the idea of jumping from it and just hoping for good luck has crossed my mind multiple times.
My stomach churns, begging for food. I briefly side eye the sandwich that sits at the bedside on a silver platter. It's tempting, but I'm not going to eat it. I can't trust it. I don't know what they did to it.
With my eyes set on the window again, I picture the land outside, thinking of my own kingdom that has now been taken over. When I was crowned at 16 after the deaths of my parents, everyone knew something like this would happen. Still, I lasted longer than anyone thought I would, 3 years. Then, it abruptly came crumbling down.
I had heard rumors of the other kingdoms getting taken over/conquered by an elemental duo of vampires, but I didn't take them seriously. I was too busy trying to prove to my people that I wasn't just the accidental heir to the throne raised by the servants, but that I could be a king. I never saw the ambush coming.
Even though they have a large army, just the two of them attacked my kingdom. They took down my guards easily, not only with their elements but with their extreme strength and speed as well. None of my guards stood a chance against them. Evidently, I didn't either.
The message of their arrival reached me when they were near the outside of the kingdom. I was advised to flee, but I didn't, of course I didn't. I thought I could handle them. What's fire and water against lightning anyways? I could just knock them out cold. That would have worked if their bodies could get electrocuted.
When I heard that elemental vampires were attacking the palace, I expected ancient, wrinkly, greying old snobs. I expected long black capes or trench coats. Their skin was supposed to burn in the sunlight, not refuse to react.
When the two of them walked in after besting my head guards and the high tech security system I installed, I was thrown for a loop. I worked with THE Cyrus Borg to create that system, and they were able to just walk right through it. Even the treasured Prince Lloyd of the central kingdom tried to make it through, and he couldn't. They were on a whole other level.
The boy walked in first, his brown hair intricately gelled. He was broad and strong, shown by the fact that he kicked down my barricaded door. His torso was covered by a red t-shirt, his eyes covered by sunglasses. Not only did he dress in modern fashion, but his skin was tanned, another thing I wasn't expecting. Above all, the most shocking thing about him was that he looked around my age.
He wasn't even what shook me to my core. Instead, it was the girl that walked in immediately after. At the sight of her, all of my senses became numb yet heightened at the same time. Her raven hair was tied back in a messy bun out of her face. Her sculpted eyebrows peaked out from the top of her sunglasses that only partially hid her bright red eyes. The edges of her face, her jawline and cheekbones, were defined perfectly. With a slight sheen, her lips were full. A crimson tank top hugged her torso, a black leather jacket layered over it and leggings gripping onto her legs. Every curve on her body was hugged. She's by far the hottest... thing I've ever seen.
She left me breathless, and I hate myself for it. My eyes were glued to her. Every move she made, I followed with my stare. It made their ambush even more successful. They took me off guard in every possible sense.
She asked me to surrender which I responded to with an, "in your dreams, Bloodbreath!" before attempting to electrocute her brother. He slightly twitched before laughing, not menacingly, but playfully before looking at his sister with amusement in a way that got her a bit flustered and made her snap at him. When I tried to lure them into the sun, it backfired in a similar fashion. They walked straight through it, not phased in the slightest.
Needless to say, I was overpowered easily. I was vulnerable; they were invulnerable. They captured me with ease - not even needing to hurt me aside from a couple of accidental bruises from the boy - before they brought me back to their sleek car in chains.
I had to walk through my kingdom, thousands of eyes and cameras pointed at me. No one dared to charge them, and I don't blame them. I wouldn't have either.
The cab of the car was like a police car except the bars in the back were lined with vengestone. Everything was lined with vengestone. It made me a bit queasy. Then, when we made it back to their palace, they threw me in this room to be alone with all of my thoughts. The only interaction I ever get is someone dropping off food or the girl coming to feed on me every night.
My body is in a terrible state. Not only is my hunger gnawing at me, but my anxiety is at an all time high. I've had four panic attacks since I got here three days ago, and each time one happens, I feel like I'm getting even further from myself. It's as if I'm being consumed. It also doesn't help that the gentle buzz of my powers is also gone.
I'm alone and empty. I thought I was alone when my parents died, but they never really were my parents. Ed and Edna were. Now, there's really no one.
A television sits on a dresser off to the side of the room, and while it was tempting at first, it holds nothing for me. The news is probably hyper focused on my loss or some other kingdom's loss. The two of them, the vampires, have been going back to my kingdom every day to "get things put in order", so I have no doubt that it's in ruins.
Dozens of other rooms are around mine, ones that I'm sure belong to the other elemental rulers whose kingdoms have been taken. In my moments of extreme desperation, I bang on the walls next to mine, but no one responds. They're probably just as terrified as I am and don't want to step out of line.
The clanking of keys on the other side of the door breaks me out of my trance, but I don't look at it. Instead, I look at the blank television. I slightly see my own reflection in the tv, and it reminds me of the state I'm in. I'm a shallow shell of who I used to be just a few days ago.
"I can turn that on for you if you want," her voice makes my pulse race. I hear her close the door as I give her a wordless shake of my head before she locks it behind her. "You need to eat." I can feel the weight of her voice as she looks at the sandwich.
"Not hungry," I mumble. Whether it's because I'm too tired to come up with a solid response or I don't want to, I'm not sure.
"I'm not leaving until you eat it," she tells me with conviction. Soon, the plate of food is on my lap, and she is at my side.
Her presence is distracting, a distinct pull that tries to force me out of my current state. She's so close, just a few inches from me. I don't know whether or not to stay where I am or move away. I don't want to cave into the temptation of her. It's so hard to not.
Reluctantly, I take a bite of the sandwich, her sitting next to me forcing my hand. As soon as it hits my mouth, every molecule in my body lights up. I devour it, my stomach taking full control as I shove it in my mouth. All sense of self control is gone until I finish it. The gnawing begins to fade a bit, and my mind becomes clearer.
"Happy?" I ask, monotone as I set the plate aside only slightly embarrassed of my messy eating. She shouldn't be one to judge. Her people are the messiest eaters. Besides, I'm aware that the only reason she wanted me to eat was to make sure I was more stable when she got her meal.
"Very."
"I don't know why you didn't just go get some blood from another elemental master or something? Aren't more like a door down or something?" I ask, grumbling. After a period of silence, I look over at her, and I immediately regret it.
Her hair is damp, most likely fresh out of the shower. Her eyes, polished rubies, match her full lips as she gives me a perplexed look. The shapeliness of her eyebrows is clear as she raises them. It's like she was pulled straight from my imagination and sat down right in front of me as the ultimate temptation.
She's wearing short, sky blue pajama shorts that show off her strong, curved thighs. Up top, she has on a crimson, fitted, low cut tank top just like the day she captured me. It takes every ounce of self control in my body not to look down any longer than I already have as my heart rate increases and my mind fogs.
"Who said that I want another man's blood?" her finger traces my jawline slowly. My heart races in my chest, my heart rate increasing by the second. Every ounce of reason floods out of my body as biology takes over. "And who said that anyone else gets the special treatment that you do?"
Her finger traces down my neck and onto my collarbone, eventually reaching one of my shoulders. "I...I..." her touch is too distracting, locking up my voice box.
"The only other person up here who isn't a servant is Skylor, my brother's girlfriend. She shares a room with him," she explains to me, looking up at me with eyes that turn me to mush. I'm quickly turning into a puddle in front of her.
"W-why me?" I manage to break out of her trance temporarily to ask the question. It's like her look, her touch, puts a spell on me. I'm stuck in place, unable to do anything but focus on her.
"My brother and I went on a little tour around the kingdoms before we picked the order of when we should take each one. Once I saw you, I became absolutely fixated by you," she moves her body closer to mine, her lips slightly ghosting my ear. "I wanted you, bad. Everything about you was so alluring, still is." The statement steals the air from my lungs as her hot breath trickles down my neck, an area that I can tell is hard for her to avoid. "I still do."
"Was that right before you took over?" I ask, unable to shake the feeling of our closeness. She grabs onto my arm, feeling the muscles of my bicep and tricep. She hums lightly as my eyes close at her touch.
"No, it took all of my self control to not take you right then, but I knew I should wait so you could prove yourself as king. We were going to wait longer, but the Munce were going to try to take over your kingdom, and I wasn't going to let Murtessa get to you first," she brings her mouth close to my neck again, her breath fanning it as her body inches towards mine. Although my element is suppressed, electricity buzzes through my system, her closeness sparking it up again.
"The Munce Queen?" I manage to get out.
"She took a liking to you as well," she informs me lowly. "But that wasn't going to do. You're mine and only mine," after those words, her lips press up against my neck, causing my eyes to flutter shut at a sweet feeling of euphoria and bliss I'm foreign to. Her lips are cold against me, a sharp contrast to how warm I am and the warmth of her breath.
My entire life, I've been cooped up in a castle without anyone to be a teenager with. Girls my age - with the exception of the girl I'm arranged to marry against my will - have never been in my life. The girl I'm supposed to marry, Rosalyn, has never made me feel anything this strong and raw. It is taking every part of me not to completely cave into the girl sitting in front of me.
Her fangs scrape against my skin lightly. I tense, suddenly remembering the extremity of the situation. I'm able to break out of my trance and move away from her lips.
"You still took my kingdom from me. I bet you destroyed it already," I try to say strongly, but it comes out shaky. I look away from her, so she can't lure me back in with her eyes.
"Everything is more or less the same. I'm trying to preserve it for you. The main problem is preventing insurrection, but other than that, it's just how you left it," she explains to me. One of her fingers touches the side of my cheek, redirecting my face to look at her. When I do, I'm yet again mesmerized by her beauty. "Your kingdom is alright. The only change is now you're here with me."
I find myself staring into her ruby eyes, completely absorbed in her. Her hand moves to cup my face. Her thumb runs over my cheek, and I let myself bask in the moment. Caving in, I let myself enjoy the allure of her touch. I let myself savor the feeling of my heart slamming against my ribs, of her cold skin pressed against mine. Hunger is in her eyes, but I can't tell what it's for.
"How do I know you're not mani..." my words stop at her beauty as she brings her face closer to mine. She stops a couple of inches away, allowing for a brief distance between us.
"I don't want to hurt you," her voice softens, a sharp contrast to the power of earlier. Our eyes meet. "I just want you to want me. I'm just like you, royalty that got put in a situation they weren't expecting to be in at such a young age. I struggled and suffered, just like you, to the point where I felt completely dead. I hadn't felt alive in all of the years I've been a vampire until I saw you. I felt raw and human just looking at you. Just imagine how I feel now," she laughs slightly at the end. If she could blush, there would definitely be a layer of it over her cheeks. My guard starts to fall a bit at her opening up.
"I haven't really felt alive either, especially since my parents passed. I've always had pressure on me to be this or that, like I was just a puppet of the people. They all hated me anyway. All of my citizens hated me. Everyone would critique everything I did. Heck, my own parents hated me. I was an accident, and they would never ever stop reminding me of it. Life...life was just trying to tiptoe around everyone to try to appease them..." I find the words flowing out of my mouth as her eyes stare into my soul. They're filled with empathy - something I didn't think a vampire could feel.
"You never have to try to appease me, Jay," she softly informs me, the sound of her saying my name messing with my insides. "Be yourself. That's all I could want." Those seven words make me feel more wanted than I have in my entire life, more wanted than my parents, people, and future wife ever made me feel.
"I...I...," my brain can't even make out words, making her laugh slightly at something that I would have been ridiculed for before.
"I know what you're thinking, why couldn't I have told you all of this before I took over your kingdom? Am I right?" she reads my mind.
"Y-yeah, how did you know? Can you read my mind? Or enter people's brains? Or..." I start going on one of my tangents, feeling myself loosen up even more.
"A guess," one of her hands drifts up to the back of my hair, her fingers running through it in a nice, comforting gesture that also seems to make her happy. "There's multiple reasons. First of all, you wouldn't have listened to me. The stigma against monsters is plague among humans. Second, my brother and I are taking over all of the kingdoms anyways to create equality between monsters and humans by letting them live beside each other. We had to take yours over sometime," she explains, and shockingly to me a few days ago, it makes sense.
There's a thick silence that hangs in the air, mimicking the tension. Every part of my body wants to get closer to her. My hands want to touch her. My chest wants her's pressed against mine. My hips want her legs wrapped around them. My lips want her's to mesh with mine. She wants me.
"Can I kiss you?" her words slice through the air, attacking my heart that starts racing in response. Craving her too, I nod.
The moment her lips meet mine, I know I made the right decision. I'm transported to paradise, elation overtaking me as she slowly starts to move her lips against mine. Mine follow suit. As her's speed up, mine follow as she starts to put more passion into the kiss.
The second she slips her tongue into my mouth is the second I lose the remaining sliver of my control. One of her hands slides down from my cheek to my chest, feeling it before moving up to my shoulder, squeezing it. When she pulls away, disappointment floods my body.
Her crimson eyes lock with my blue ones as she swings one of her legs over mine before centering herself on top of me, straddling me. She runs a hand through my hair, examining my face at the same time. "My name is Nya. I don't think I ever told you," she informs me. A small laugh escapes my lips. The sound turns her lips upward.
"Leave it to me to kiss a girl I don't know the name of," I jokingly tease myself.
"Girl...huh," my word choice catches her off guard in a good way. "Well, in that case, can this girl kiss you again?"
"It would be my pleasure, Nya."
A/N: It's been a while since I put anything in here, but I saw this in the drafts so why not...
Did you guys enjoy it? This was going to be a chapter in the halloween story I decided to scrap because 12 chapters is a LOT when I haven't even written that must on Escapade yet. However, there is a one-shot coming soon from one of my AU's.
Thank you all so much! I hope you enjoy!
