Chapter 11: Relationships & Beginnings

Kai and Cole sat in a coffee shop together silently. Cole had just finished telling Kai about what happened with Jay and Kai was thinking over what he'd just heard.

"You, my friend. Fucked up." Kai said flatly after taking a long sip of his coffee and Cole groaned as he pinched the brim of his nose. "I know that much! I just want to know what the hell is going on with me and how to fix it!" He complained and Kai just watched him for a second.

"Alright, let's play a game. I'll ask you a series of questions and I want you to answer them without thinking. Just give me the first answer that comes to mind." Kai said and Cole looked at him like he was stupid. "Just trust me ya bozo." Kai said in annoyance and Cole relented.

"Alright, favorite color?"

"Blue."

"Favorite song?"

"Close the circle."

"Favorite car?"

"Easy, a beautiful old school mustang convertible. I love the classics."

"Favorite music ganre?"

"Soft rock."

"Ideal eye color on a partner?"

"Blue. A nice and beautiful electric blue."

Kai began to smirk.
"Ideal hair color on a partner?"

"A nice soft caramel brown."

"Freckles or no freckles?"

"Freckles. Especially when peppered on the cheeks."

"Do you like fangs?"

"Oh, fangs are adorable."

"First word that comes to mind when I say blue?"

"Bluejay."

"First word that comes to mind when I say Jay?"

"Perfect."

Kai grinned.
"Cole, you're in love."

Cole paused as he registered what Kai just said. He was in love? Since when? With who? With Jay? Now that he thought about it, it made since.

"I... I can't... How could I have fallen in love?" Cole asked and Kai just smiled at him. "The heart wants what it wants Cole. Don't fight it or you'll regret it." Kai replied and Cole simply let his head hit the table.

"What am I supposed to do now?" Cole asked and Kai shrugged. "Make thangs righ. Go to him. Explain what was happening. Jay's a kind boy. He'll hear ya out." Kai answered softly. "But you best go and do it soon. Wait to long and he won't believe you."

Cole nodded and got up. "Alright. I'm gonna get going. Thanks for this." He said and Kai nodded. "No problem. Anytime."

Cole then left the shop and drove to Jay's building. He parked and went up to Jay's floor where he stood outside the door. Nervous. Would Jay even be home? Even if he was, would he even answer? Cole swallowed his worries and knocked on Jay's door. Nothing. He couldn't even hear anything inside. Could Jay not be home?

Cole was about to walk away for now when he heard his name coming from the elevator and looked. Jay was just getting home from school and stood in the hall way staring at Cole in surprise.

"Cole... What are you doing here? Want to take me on some date again or something?" Jay asked as he walked forward, keeping on a tough act. Why did Cole have to show up now? When he was still hurting. Wasn't it bad enough he'd fallen asleep on the bus and had a dream about the man?

Cole took a step towards the smaller male. "Jay, I... I want you. Not as a one night stand. Not as another name on my list. I want to be with you. Just you. Only you. Jay... I lo-" Cole was cut off by Jay holding up a hand. "And what about that woman the other night?" He asked and Cole sighed. He would ask about that.

"She was just trying to seduce me, but I was about to push her off when you came in. I was just... confused. Before we met, all a girl like her had to do was bat her eyes and I'd be ready to lay in bed with her, but... For the first time in my life I actually have feelings for someone. For you. I couldn't figure out why she suddenly disgusted me, but now I know and Jay... I don't ever want to let you go." Cole said in a pleading tone. Hoping and praying Jay believed him.

Jay bit his lip as he watched Cole. He watched the desperation flicker with hope in Cole's eyes and watched as the man was basically begging for him to believe what he was saying. He watched as Cole's knees shook with the fear of losing him.

Jay then looked Cole in the eyes and tears weld up in his own as he threw himself into Cole, kissing him desperately. The two just held each other there as they kissed then layed their foreheads against each other. "I love you Cole. So, so much." Jay whispered and Cole smiled. "I love you too."

Jay then lead Cole into his apartment where they just relaxed on the couch until Jay fell asleep. Cole looked to his sleeping face and smiled. He then carried Jay to his room and layed him on the twin bed. When he went to leave, Jay groggily caught his sleeve. "Stay." Whas the only thing Jay could say before fading back into sleep and Cole smiled before slipping into bed beside him. He wrapped his arms around the freckled boy and held him close as he to fell asleep.

Kai pulled his truck up in front of Lloyd's school and parked. It was a good twenty minutes til the final bell rung so he got out and leaned against the passenger side door while listening to music on his phone.

As he listened he thought back to the night of Lloyd's seventeenth birthday. When this all started.

He remembered getting an idea to make Lloyd's birthday magical. He remembered not knowing why he wanted to at the time, just that he did. He remembered driving Lloyd out to a field in the middle of the night. It was a forested cliff out where all you could see of the city was the lights. He'd pulled an old blanket out of the back of his truck and layed it on the ground to lay on and watch the stars. Lloyd was confused and didn't understand what they were there for, but soon found out.

As they layed there in silence lightning bugs started dancing around and glowing all sorts of colors. Blues, reds, yellows, greens, whites, and so on. It was a rainbow of flickering colors.

He'd watched as Lloyd had been captivated by the sight and became inthraled by his smile.

Before he knew it, Lloyd had kissed him.

He didn't know what was going on at the time, but he didn't fight it either.

Their kiss had soon turned passionate yet loving as their breathing grew heavier. Kai didn't know if it was because of the beer he'd had while they waited on the fireflies or not, but he'd found himself hypnotized by Lloyd's eyes.

It wasn't long til they had each other in their in their birthday suits with Kai pinning Lloyd to the blanket, kissing him slowly and lovingly. Their hands feeling each other gently.

There was no lust between them in those moments. Just love. Pure and unrestrained love as Kai him gently. It wasn't to slow or fast, just perfect.

Afterwards they held each other as they napped, needing a break from consciousness after the energy they'd just released into each other.

When Kai woke up a few hours later, he'd gotten dressed and woke Lloyd up. Once they were dressed they packed up the blanket and got in the truck where Kai focused on the road. He felt ashamed of himself for doing that with a 17 year old Lloyd. They didn't even have a blessings contract at the time.

He was scared of what would happen if anyone found out and when he parked in front of the Garmadon mansion to drop Lloyd off at home and looked into the blond's eyes, he knew Lloyd had seen the regret on his face and misinterpreted it it, so he kissed him.

"Lloyd, no one can find out what we just did. If this gets out I could get locked up in prison. Okay?" He'd said and Lloyd only nodded. "I understand... I'm sorry. You probably don't even like me like that... This was stupid." Lloyd had said before getting out of the truck and running inside.

Kai remembered having to explain what was going on that day Lloyd asked him about the pride parade. He was just lucky Lloyd listened and believed him.

Now here he was, waiting for Lloyd to get out of school because they had lunch with Garmadon.

When the school bell rang Kai smiled and opened the door as Lloyd came running out and slid into the vehicle with a kiss to Kai's cheek. Kai then slid across the hood and got in, driving off with Lloyd blasting the radio the whole way there and kissing him at every red light.

This was Kai's idea of heaven.

After a bit of driving Kai pulled into his apartment building's parking lot and the boys went up to the apartment to get dressed for their lunch with Garmadon.

Kai unlocked the door and they walked in. "You did have a servant bring you your suit at school, right?" Kai asked and Lloyd opened his book bag. "Yup! It's right here!" He said as he pulled out the folded up and plastic wrapped suit. "Good." Kai replied as he headed back towards his bedroom.

Kai then got dressed in a red and black suit and started fixing his tie when Lloyd came in wearing a green and gold suit that had a golden bowtie. Lloyd walked up behind Kai and wrapped his arms around Kai's waist. "You've always looked good in a suit." Lloyd said as he put his head on Kai's shoulder.

"Calm down buster." Kai said in a warning tone, not for even a second missing the obvious poke he felt against his backside. "Oh, come on! You can't really blame me. It's not my fault your hot in a suit." Lloyd whined and Kai rolled his eyes. "You think I look hot in everything." Kai said as he finished with his tie. "What can I say? You make everything look good." Lloyd replied and Kai chuckled with a roll of his eyes before turning around in Lloyd's embrace and kissing him.

"Now let's get. We got a reservation tah make." Kai said after the kiss. "Alright, let's go." Lloyd replied with a nod and they left.

When the boys got to the restaurant they walked in and sat at a table where Garmadon sat across from them in the booth. "Hey, Dad." Lloyd said as he gave his father a hug and Kai slid into the booth. "Nice to see you again sir." Kai said as Lloyd slid in beside him.

"Always a pleasure to see you two. Especially to see my son again." Garmadon said, giving Lloyd a look at the end that had the blond sinking in his seat. "I love you?" Lloyd tried and Garmadon chuckled. "Yeah, I've been telling him that he needs to go home sometime." Kai said as he put an arm over Lloyd's shoulder.

"Or you could move back in." Garmadon suggested. "I know you aren't to fond of the mansion for some reason, but at least my son won't disappear for days on end." He continued and Kai looked to Lloyd to see how he was reacting. Lloyd seemed happy with the idea and was actually looking to Kai hopefully.

"I guess it couldn't hurt, but I want to wait to get my sister back. She lives with me so I'd have to talk with her." Kai answered and Garmadon quirked a brow. "You seem confident that she'll come back." He said and Kai smiled. "Well, I am the detective on the case and I have yet to fail a case." He replied confidently. "Always a first time for everything Kai." Garmadon warned, not wanting Kai to get his hopes up to high.

"Either way, why did you want to call this dinner?" Kai asked and Lloyd nodded along, curious as well. "To talk really. I want to know how your relationship is going. And Lloyd, if you're going to keep spending so much time at Kai's could you at least take a decent amount of clothes?" Garmadon replied and Lloyd shrugged. "Why would I need clothes?" He asked and Kai both paled and blushed a bright red at the same time as his face became a mixture of fear and embarrassment.

Garmadon sat in awkward silence as he realized what his son was referring to and slowly turned to see Kai's face and held back a snicker. Kai could be to modest some times.

"What?" Lloyd asked, not realizing the effect his words had and Kai cleared his throat. "Lloyd... Please stop... Just.... There are somethings best left unsaid." Kai said and Lloyd looked to him. "What's the issue? I like having se-" Lloyd was cut off as Kai planted a kiss on his lips.

"Lloyd... No. We're in public." Kai warned and Lloyd huffed as he crossed his arms, causing Garmadon to chuckle.

The lunch went on with conversation. It was mostly Garmadon and Kai discussing business while Lloyd sat to the side board. Neither would let the blond bring out his cell phone, so he cured his boredom in a more mischievous manor by sneaking his hand inside Kai's pants and switching between rubbing his inner thigh and playing with his member and ball sacks, causing Kai trouble with focusing on his conversation with Garmadon as his breathing became a bit heavier and hitched every now and again.

Needless to say, Lloyd earned himself a couple rounds in the back of Kai's truck somewhere.
