(Zane's POV)

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

My bright blue eyes shot open as my systems suddenly went online, being switched on by the sudden alert message ringing through my head

ALERT! BREAK IN DETECTED AT THE NINJAGO MUSEUM OF HISTORY!

The alert message read, originating from my Falcon, quickly changing over to my Falcon vision I could see what my metal friend was seeing. Swooping down from above the city in the night sky, the Falcon spotted a suspicious trail leading up to the Ninjago Museum of History, zooming in I could see a hole in one of the yellow brick walls

After obtaining this knowledge I immediately sent a distress message to our Secret Ninja Force group chat detailing the situation, as every cool teenage hero team needs a group chat so that they may send awesome text messages and send hilarious memes that make you LOL

"Thank you my friend, now please return to the warehouse to recharge" I thanked the Falcon for alerting me of the break in at the museum, switching off my Falcon vision before I removed myself from my charging station and began heading towards the museum, continuously checking the Secret Ninja Force group chat to see who will be able to join me in stopping the dastardly fiends attempting to ruin one of the highest rated tourist locations in the city

My Nindroid body was like a well oiled machine as I manoeuvred my way across the city and towards the museum, probably because my body is a well oiled machine. I must say that I do greatly enjoy traversing the city, especially in the darkness of the night, all of the neon lights of the city create a very pleasing atmosphere, further enhancing the feeling of freedom that free running through the crowded city gives me. The other Ninja like to call this parkour, a viral trend among us teenagers

As my cogs thought about the other Ninja, I wondered who might join me on my mission to investigate the museum. Since it is quite late at night, I do not believe it is probable to expect everyone to help. I do hope that they are all not currently asleep and have not even seen my distress message, that would be quite unfortunate

The little doubt I had of the other Ninja not appearing was soon eliminated from my thoughts, as I spotted the familiar red and silver colours of the sibling Ninja duo swinging down from a set of lanterns

"Salutations Kai and Nya" I greeted the two Ninja who both seemed to have been startled from my appearance "Oh, hey there Zane" Kai replied to me in a very tired sounding voice, with Nya merely yawning as she narrowly avoided running into a neon sign "Sorry, Nya and I are just feeling a little sleepy from being woken up by your text, and all these bright lights are kind of hurting our eyes a little"

"My apologies for waking you two" I apologised to the two Ninja, feeling bad about not letting them recharge, I know that if I did not receive a full battery charge I would be quite tired and grumpy "Don't sweat it Zane, it's all part of the job" Nya told me with a thumbs up followed by another yawn

The three of us continued on our journey towards the museum, sharing little conversation as the two siblings were still quite tired, with myself occasionally needing to stop the two of them from making any fatal mistakes atop the city rooftops. As the three of us neared our destination, my scanners detected another life form nearby, curious, who else would be up at such a late hour and be traversing the neon lit rooftops of the city?

"Hey guys, room for one more?" The new life form asked as they suddenly jumped up from a fire escape, revealing our leader, Lloyd "Of course, it is good to see you Lloyd, I apologise if my distress call woke you" I spoke to the Green Ninja

"Nothing to worry about Zane, for once I decided to do some late night studying" Lloyd told us all, performing a perfectly done vault over a ledge "But I think I may have woken my mom up while hurrying out of the apartment, I'm really not looking forward to that when I get back" The green eyed Ninja rubbed the back of his neck in a sheepish manner

The four of us carefully dropped down from the apartment building fire escape, now standing at the front entrance of our destination, the large yellow Ninjago Museum of History. I do quite like the architecture of this building, the large glass dome on the top creates great lighting for when it is open to the public and the red details help add some more variation, especially the curved red arch above the main entrance

But what was most eye catching about the museum was not its wonderful architecture, but instead who was standing underneath it "What took you all so long?" The voice of Harumi asked as she stood beneath the museum sign, arms crossed and leaning against one of the front pillars "So it's just us five? No Cole, Jay or Skylor tonight?"

"Skylor told me she had a late shift so that clears her up, I tried giving both Cole and Jay a call but neither of them picked up so it looks like it is just us five for this mission" Lloyd explained to the rest of us "Heh, knowing Jay the distress call just didn't wake him up, that guy could sleep through anything" Kai added to the conversation

"Why don't we just get this done with already so I can go back to bed" Nya said with a tired yawn, holding her spear in her hands "Lead the way Zane" Harumi told me, arming herself with her trusty silver sai

I nodded before cautiously leading the way through the broken wall, gesturing for the other Ninja to be careful and follow as quietly as possible, considering that we are Ninja it should not be too much of a problem. I enhanced the brightness of my eyes to make it easier for the others to navigate the trail we were following, I also took it upon myself to scan the trail itself and found some hints of Serpentine scales

The trail led us to one of the exhibits, featuring a very large skeleton on display in the middle of the room. Peeking around the corner I could see that the exhibit was almost crammed full with many different Serpentine, along with each of the Serpentine generals and Lord Garmadon looking down upon them from a higher point

I motioned for my fellow Ninja to follow me as I quickly and carefully rolled out of our hiding spot and towards a wooden bench, hiding behind it as the other Ninja carried out my actions, the five of us peeking our heads over the brown bench to see what was going on

"Ugh, I should I have known my father would be the one behind this" Lloyd groaned from beside me as he saw Lord Garmadon standing above the Serpentine, holding what seemed to be this new Mega Weapon we heard of from our evil doppelgängers "At least we got a few weeks without having to deal with him"

"Here it is! The reason for our little field trip to the museum!" Garmadon's voice boomed throughout the exhibit as he pointed the golden weapon towards the large skeleton we were positioned behind "Feast your reptilian eyes upon the grand creature once known as the Grundle!"

"It has long been extinct, but in its time it was the most feared and dangerous creature in all of Ninjago, its sharp claws could slice through the toughest of steel, it had heightened senses that could detect its prey from many miles away, and for the sake of our purpose, it could track the stealthiest Ninja" Lord Garmadon explained to the Serpentine as we listened in "My stupid brother and I encountered one in our youth and were only able to escape thanks to our father"

If a Nindroid could shutter I certainly would, the picture Lloyd's father had painted within my circuits was a creature I am glad is extinct

"All that sure sssssoundsssss interesssssting, but a pile of bonesssss aren't going to do any good againsssst the Ninja" Skales said from beside the four armed warlord, not seeming impressed by what Garmadon had explained

"Oh my poor Skales, your reptilian brain keeps you from seeing the bigger picture" Garmadon turned to speak to the Hypnobrai general, a sly smirk across his face "With my shiny new toy this pile of bones will return to its original state, a living creature that is the perfect Ninja hunting machine!" Lord Garmadon exclaimed, receiving cheers from the Serpentine, minus Skales who did not seem pleased with the prior insult

"So he's planning to use his new Mega Weapon to resurrect the Grundle?" Lloyd questioned in a quiet voice "That sure doesn't sound good" Kai whispered with his two silver katana drawn from his scabbard "What is the plan Lloyd?" I looked towards our leader and asked with my voice output dialled all the way down to the lowest setting

Lloyd sat and thought for a moment before giving me a response "We don't know what my father's Mega Weapon is capable of so we have to be cautious, keep your distance from him and that weapon, we can deal with the Serpentine first and then handle my father and his fancy new gadget" He told us all, retrieving his silver dao blade from his back and getting ready for battle

I followed Lloyd's actions and equipped myself with my bow, making sure I had more than enough arrows within my quiver. With all five of us armed with our weapons and fully prepared for battle, Lloyd counted us down from three and the five of us sprang from our hiding spot, revealing ourselves to Lord Garmadon and the Serpentine

"I'm sorry, but the museum is closed!" Lloyd righteously shouted at Garmadon and the Serpentine, pointing his sword at them all as we stood beside him doing the same

"Well if it isn't my son and his little Ninj-nerds!" Lord Garmadon greeted us with open arms and a devilish grin, a moment later however his grin disappeared and a look of confusion was spread across his face as he seemed to be counting us "Now wait just a second, aren't there meant to be eight of you? What happened to the blue, orange and black one? Did you fire them out of a volcano? Attaboy!"

"W-What? No!" Lloyd yelled back at his father "We don't even need our full team to beat you and your little snakes Garm!" Harumi shouted at Lord Garmadon, clearly very excited to jump into battle

"How can you be so sure? Aren't you forgetting about my brand new toy" Garmadon cackled while shaking his new Mega Weapon in front of us "Let me introduce to you, the Super Epic Awesome Ultimate Extremely Cool and Wickedly Evil Mega Weapon!" He proudly announced as he held the golden weapon in the air, the exhibit being lit up by a golden light

Skales scoffed from beside Lloyd's father "He meansssss the Mega Weapon"

"I must thank you Ninja, if it weren't for you I wouldn't have my new plaything" Garmadon looked down at us, what does he mean by this? "You see, after saving the day against that nasty Great Devourer, I went ahead and kept your Golden Weapons, turning them into something a little more my style" Lord Garmadon explained to us, admiring his own Mega Weapon

"That thing is our Golden Weapons?!" Nya was suddenly snapped wide awake, not seeming very happy with the news that our Golden Weapons have been turned into Garmadon's new Mega Weapon "Now it's so on!"

"Watch in amazement as I revert the mere bones of this ferocious Grundle back into flesh and blood!" Lord Garmadon yelled out as he pointed the Mega Weapon straight at the Grundle fossil, the shiny weapon now being surrounded by golden energy as the large skeletal remains began to shake and rattle

"NINJA-GO!" All five of us shouted in unison as we leaped towards the Serpentine, knocking away a large amount of them as we landed with our Spinjitzu tornados

I instantly got to work with firing off a multitude of arrows, spinning around in a circle to maximise the amount of Serpentine I was hitting, clearing a pathway for the other Ninja. My arrows did a good job at keeping the different tribes of Serpentine away from me, but the Constrictai's harder scales proved to be a challenge, with my arrows merely hitting the ground upon impact. This lead me to fight the Constrictai in hand to hand combat which was a bit of a challenge, I certainly did not enjoy when they attempted to wrap their strong tails around me, one squeeze and my gears would be crushed, thanks to Spinjitzu and my training, I was able to fend them off quite well

Spinning my head 360 degrees allowed me to see how the other Ninja were fairing against the Serpentine, with the four of them handling their situations perfectly fine. Kai was busy dealing with a group of Hynobrai, whereas Harumi kicked and slashed her way through the Venomari, Nya expertly wielded her spear against the Fangpyre and lastly Lloyd was nowhere to be seen on the ground, instead I located him climbing onto the Grundle fossil itself

"Lloyd! What are you doing?" I questioned the Green Ninja who balanced on the white bones of the Grundle "Stopping my father from bringing this beast back to the living!" He shouted back down to me, drawing his dao blade as he inched closer to his father who was distracted by his glowing Mega Weapon

"Alright now that sounds like a plan!" Kai yelled as he suddenly jumped onto one of the Grundle's legs and hurried after Lloyd, with Harumi following after him "I do not believe this is a sufficient plan" I brought up as I continued to defend myself from the Serpentine, becoming somewhat overwhelmed as Kai and Harumi were now atop the fossil

"Yeah I'm gonna have to side with the Nindroid on this one!" Nya agreed with me, landing a perfect kick on a member of the Hypnobrai, connecting with their scaly chest and sending them crashing to the ground

Unfortunately, with Kai, Harumi and Lloyd on the fossil of the Grundle, it made it very difficult for just Nya and I to fend off the hoard of different Serpentine tribes, which eventually lead to the two of us both getting overwhelmed and knocked back by the Serpentine, landing right underneath the bones of the creature we were trying to stop from being revived

As the two of us regained our composures, I glanced up at the fossil to see Lloyd standing on the head of the Grundle, watching as he threw his silver dao blade through the air and toward his father. With a loud and mighty clang the dao blade struck the Mega Weapon, knocking the golden weapon out of Lord Garmadon's hands, snapping the four armed warlord out of his distracted state

"NOOO!" He loudly roared in anger realising what had just happened, scrambling to the ground to retrieve his Mega Weapon before facing us all "You Ninja may have foiled my flawless plan today, but you can bet that I'll be back with an even more flawless plan after a good night's sleep!" Lloyd's father shouted at us "Serpentine! Retreat to the Black Bounty!"

With the command from Lord Garmadon, the Serpentine and Garmadon himself rushed out of a nearby emergency exit "Huh, well that was surprisingly easy" Kai commented, putting his silver swords back into his scabbard

"No time to gloat now Kai, after them!" Lloyd pointed at the open doors, grabbing his dao blade from the floor and giving chase to his father and army of Serpentine. Kai, Harumi, Nya and I of course joined Lloyd in chasing after his father, it was not hard to follow after them thanks to my bright eyes illuminating our path, but for some reason I am unable to detect, the brightness of my eyes decreased over time, this has never happened before, perhaps a malfunction from being knocked underneath the fossil?

It was not long until I noticed another malfunction, it felt as if my motors were not functioning properly, as I began to lag behind the other Ninja along with my vision becoming unclear, without any warning everything suddenly turned black

Uh oh, looks like something has happened to Zane? But what? Make sure you stick around for the next Ninja Life chapter to find out! Why weren't Jay and Cole there to help?
