(Harumi's POV)

Dear Diary,

Yesterday was awesome! We totally destroyed the Great Devourer! I mean, technically it was Lloyd's dad who delivered the final blow but us Ninja did most of the work! The only complaint I have about yesterday is all that icky green goop that exploded out of the Devourer when it was destroyed, ugh it got all over me! I had to take like six showers to finally get it out of my perfect white hair! Speaking of my hair, I should really stop writing in you to go get ready for school today, oh yeah that's another complaint from yesterday, the Devourer didn't destroy the school!

They could have at least given us all a day off, y'know since most of the city was destroyed by a giant snake?! Ugh whatever, most of the teachers probably won't even be able to get to the school anyways so it might just be full of free classes, hopefully. Alright that's enough for this morning, I'll write about the rest of my day when I get back home from school with hopefully some Ninja action! 

I closed my green diary that may or may not be decorated in both Green Ninja and Jade Ninja stickers and quickly stashed it away in its usual hiding spot, not a single soul will ever know where I hide this thing. Now with that out of the way I grabbed my green hairbrush and stood in front of my mirror, admiring my outfit whilst I brushed my white hair like I do every morning before school or just leaving the house, putting the brush back down on my table I grabbed my backpack to make sure everything I needed for the day was there, as well as throwing my Ninja gi inside of course. You never know when a Ninja will be needed! 

Throwing on my white backpack covered with red lotus flowers I hurried out of room with my phone stuffed into my pocket, closing the door behind me before hopping down the carpeted stairs, using my Ninja training to land perfectly at the bottom. I headed into the kitchen and spotted my father sitting down at the table, reading todays newspaper as usual 

"Good morning daddy" I greeted my father who looked up from his newspaper to give me a smile "Morning to you too my little princess" He said to me before going back to whatever he was reading, gosh I hope he never calls me that when Lloyd or any of the others are around, it would be so embarrassing! "Ugh, it's so lame that I have school today" I groaned to my father, hoping he would take some pity and let me stay off for just one day 

My father just chuckled and took a sip of his morning coffee, knowing exactly what I was trying to do "I'm sorry my princess but I can't save you from that monster, you're just going to have to face it yourself" I gave him a pout but that didn't seem to change his mind at all "I'm sure today will be fine sweetie, after all you'll get to see all your friends, not to mention your boyfriend" He said, adjusting his black eyepatch "What was his name again? Floyd?"

"It's Lloyd dad!" I shouted at him with a blush, getting a chuckle out of him "Why don't you invite the young man over for dinner some time? I would love to get to know him some more" My father suggested, finishing the rest of his coffee "Absolutely not! All you would do is embarrass me!" I told him with crossed arms "Not to mention that you would scare him!"

Another laugh came from my grey bearded father "What makes you say that?" He asked me "Ok for one you're missing an eye and wear an eyepatch, second you always look so intense and you just got promoted to being the city's Police Commissioner! Anybody would be scared of you!" I threw my arms into the air when saying the last part "As long as Floyd is a well behaved citizen who follows the law I don't see any reason why he should be afraid of me" My dad told me, once again saying Lloyd's name wrong, I swear he's doing it just to mess with me 

"Well I would love to tell you all about how my boyfriend is a well behaved citizen but I have school to attend" I giggled with a smirk before giving my father a quick kiss on the cheek "Have a good first day as Ninjago's number one Police Commissioner!" I told him as I walked over to the front door "And make sure you have a good day at school sweetie!" He shouted after me, I gave my father a quick smile before heading out the door, beginning my walk to school 

The walk to school today was certainly a bit more difficult than usual, most of the city was in ruin which made it a little challenging to navigate my usual path, at least the typically busy traffic wasn't as hectic with most of the roads being torn up by the Devourer. Ugh my least favourite part was definitely all the green goop covering almost everything, I had to be extra careful not to step in any of it or my shoes would have been ruined!

Eventually I had reached the school and it looked completely untouched, it was as if the Great Devourer had ate around it! Walking up the school's front steps I strolled into the black roofed building and began making my way towards my locker to get my books and other supplies sorted for the day

As I neared my locker I could see some of the others gathered around it, presumably tending to their own locker needs "Hey guys!" I called out to them with a wave as I continued to walk down the hallway filled with orange lockers, as I grew closer I could tell that the only ones missing were Kai, Nya and Skylor, with Kai being injured I'm not even sure if he'll be showing up today 

"Good morning Harumi" Zane politely greeted me, sporting his usual white pants and blue sweater vest decorated with two pixelated aliens "Sup" Cole casually nodded his head at me as he leaned against his locker, headphones over his black shaggy hair as he wore a sleeveless blue band shirt. Jay merely peaked out from behind his open locker and gave me a small wave before going back to organising his incredibly messy locker, Lloyd was certainly the happiest of them and instantly swooped me up into a hug, twirling me around as I giggled 

He shortly put me back down and gave me a quick peck on the cheek "Well good morning to you too" I smirked at my boyfriend's happy behaviour, moving away from him just a little to gain access to my locker "What's gotten you in such high spirits?" I asked the blonde behind me while putting a few books away "Because we destroyed the Great Devourer yesterday of course!" Lloyd cheerfully said "Shhh!" I quickly spun around and placed my hand over his mouth "Don't say that so loud! Someone might hear!" 

I took my hand away and went back to my locker business, my boyfriend giving an apologetic look "Oops, sorry" He told me in a whisper, I just playfully rolled my eyes with a smile as I finished sorting out my books for the first few classes, locking the metal door and facing Lloyd, the two of us locking hands "Soooo I umm, have a little bit of news to share with you all" I began to speak somewhat nervously, getting the attention of the other three 

"What's up? It's not something bad is it?" My green eyed boyfriend asked with worry "Of course not!" I quickly responded before shaking my head and walking back on my words "Um actually it is, wait no it's not! I mean yes it is something bad!" The other Ninja looked at me confused, as my brain scrambled to think of what to say Lloyd's left hand made its way onto my cheek, stopping my mind from running amuck "Calm down Rumi, I'm sure whatever it is isn't a big deal" He smiled at me which both made me blush and calm down 

I suppose I should just get it over with and tell them "Okay okay, well you uhh you see, my father recently got promoted" I started to explain "Congratulations to your father Harumi" Zane's robotic voice said to me with his usual large smile "Well that doesn't sound bad at all!" Lloyd told me "I uhh didn't get to finish, he was promoted to being the city's newest Police Commissioner....."

As soon as I finished speaking they all gasped with their jaws dropped, well except Zane, he just said "Gasp" with his hands up to his face "Uh oh, that'll be a problem when it comes to the whole secret identity thing right?" Cole pointed out "That is correct" The white haired Nindroid confirmed Cole's observation 

"H-H-He's totally g-g-going to find o-out about you being the J-Jade N-Ninja! T-Then he'll find out w-w-who we all are!" Jay started to panic, fiddling with his orange scarf that was draped over his blue lightning themed cardigan, if he's worried about my father discovering our identities he should really change his wardrobe....

"Alright calm down Jay" Lloyd placed one of his hands on the freckled teen's shoulder, getting him to quiet down "I'm sure this isn't a problem, Rumi's father most likely won't even interact with the Ninja that much, and if he does I doubt he will be able to tell that Rumi is the Jade Ninja through her mask" He finished saying, taking my hand once more with a light squeeze followed by a comforting smile "Oh and there's one last thing, my father kind of wants you to come to dinner some time" I told Lloyd 

That comforting smile was quickly wiped from his face and replaced with wide eyes and a slightly opened mouth "What's the matter? The heroic and brave Green Ninja isn't scared of my father is he?" I asked him with a mischievous grin "Come on Harumi he has an eyepatch!" He told me in a childish tone that made me giggle "And now you're telling me he's the newest Police Commissioner?!" Lloyd seemed to panic like Jay had earlier "Oh you shouldn't have anything to worry about, besides I'll make sure he doesn't arrest you for not passing the salt" I laughed with Lloyd joining in

"COLE BROOKSTONE!" A loud booming voice suddenly echoed throughout the school hallway, every student turned and looked down the hall of lockers to see who the noise was coming from, I could faintly hear Cole gulp upon seeing the familiar set of purple hair with a blue streak marching towards us

"I-I-It was uhh n-nice knowing y-you C-C-Cole" Jay stuttered to the sleeveless teen, quickly retreating to behind Zane as Seliel's marching sped up and before we knew it she was only seconds away from possibly obliterating one of our team members 

 As Seliel neared us we all instinctively backed away, not wanting to get involved in what ever was about to happen, it all felt like it was going in slow motion, one second Seliel was charging over to us and the next she's lunging at Cole and.......hugging him?

"Oh Cole I'm so glad that you're okay!" She blissfully exclaimed whilst embracing her muscular boyfriend who was just stood still, a look of total confusion on his face "I was so worried that you might have been swallowed by that giant snake!" Seliel pulled out of the hug and smiled at the still very confused Cole "Uhhhh y-yes, I am ummm completely fine" He awkwardly responded to his purple haired girlfriend who chuckled at his behaviour 

"What's wrong? You look like you thought I was about to attack you!" Seliel laughed, making the rest of us sigh in relief that we still had our Earth Ninja in one piece "Whaaaaat? Of course not!" Cole tried to play his little moment of fear off, distracting Seliel with a quick peck on the lips that seemed to do the trick 

Now that the supposed danger had been dealt with we scooted back over to Cole and greeted Seliel with open arms, it feels like forever since we've last talked with her so we decided to spend a little time catching up with her, making sure to leave out all our Ninja activities of course. Thankfully she and her father were completely fine when the Great Devourer attacked, I suppose living in a small town outside of the city has more advantages than I thought

"Hey hey guys!" The voice of our spiky haired friend came from behind us, we all turned around to greet him and were met with quite the unexpected site. Kai was making his way over to us with his entire left leg in a white cast, using a pair of crutches to get around while Nya and Skylor walked beside him looking very annoyed "Have we missed anything interesting?" 

"Woah Kai, what happened?" Seliel asked the teen wearing all red who was about to answer before his sister jumped in front of him "He was an idiot that's what happened!" Nya told Seliel with her arms crossed over her white and black striped shirt  "A very big idiot" Skylor added, her arms also crossed angrily 

The rest of us stood there and looked at the smirking Kai, there is no way that his small little injury needs him to use crutches and wear a full body cast! He has got to be just milking this for attention! Lloyd seemed to think the same as he cleared his throat and asked the brown haired Ninja a question "So um Kai, are you sure whatever injury you have really needs you to wear a full leg cast and use crutches? From what Nya told me on the phone yesterday it didn't seem so serious"

"Well sure I don't really need the crutches or the leg cast but they're good to have, and the ladies love it" Kai winked, getting an eye roll from practically everyone and a punch to the arm from his girlfriend beside him "Sorry about being a little late you guys" Nya apologised "Kai here really insisted on using the crutches and leg cast" The girl in the black leather jacket sighed in annoyance "Just like how he really insists on always wearing that bandage" She turned our attention to the white bandage that seems to always be on the right side of the Fire Ninja's head 

"Really? Are you telling me you've never taken that thing off Kai?" Seliel asked the hot headed teen who shrugged his shoulders "Eh, what's the point of removing it? Every time I take it off I always manage to get hit on that exact spot so I just leave it on" Kai told us, I really hope he at least swaps it out with a new bandage every day because if not that would be incredibly gross....

Cole scoffed at this information before asking Kai to prove it, without question the Fire Ninja peeled the white bandage from his head and as if on cue a paper airplane flew through the school hallway and its pointed end crashed right into the same spot where Kai's bandage used to be, it fell to the floor leaving a small mark on the spiky haired teen's forehead "See? Told you" Kai said as he placed the bandage back onto the right side of his head  "Woah, sorry about doubting you bro" Cole apologised as Jay picked up the paper airplane and carefully put it in a nearby recycling bin

"Hey everyone look!" A new voice called out from behind us, turning away from Kai and facing the new voice I saw an unfamiliar brown haired male cheerleader holding a pair of pink pom poms and sporting a Ninjago High branded varsity jacket, joined by a female cheerleader on his left and right "It's Garmadork and the dork squad!" He laughed, the two cheerleaders by his side laughing with him, who does this guy think he is?! We're not dorks! Ok, Jay is totally a dork but not the rest of us! 

"Usually I would sing a totally awesome beat about how bad you and your dad are Lloyd but after how your dad saved all of Ninjago yesterday, I would like to thank you for your father's service" The brown haired cheerleader seemed to thank my boyfriend with a bow "Until next time dorks!" He immediately went back to mocking us and soon walked off with the two other cheerleaders following after him

"Uhh, who was that?" I confusingly asked the others, Seliel looking as confused as I was "That would be Chad" Lloyd sighed "We go all the way back to kindergarten, everyday since then he and his cheerleader friends would bully me about Lord Garmadon being my dad" My boyfriend told me with a slight frown "But I guess today he seems to have been inspired by my father apparently saving all of Ninjago yesterday" 

I tried to contain a scoff and I'm sure the others did too as that would definitely make Seliel suspicious of us, instead I decided to have a little fun with my boyfriend "Awww, do you want me to beat him up for you?" I gladly offered Lloyd with a teasing smirk, the blonde just laughed and shook his head 

Just then the first bell of the school day rang and students began flocking to their first class of the day "Alright I guess it's time to split up for now, everyone make sure to have a good day" Lloyd told us with a smile and a wave before heading off in the opposite direction as us, not before I forced him to give me a peck on the cheek of course 

"Ugh, getting up the stairs today is going to be a total pain" Kai groaned as he slowly moved down the hall with his crutches "Oh don't worry bro, I've got you in all my classes for today I'll help you out" Cole said before suddenly throwing the hot headed teen over his shoulder and continuing to walk down the school hallway, drawing a few laughs from nearby students 

Kai of course was not pleased with Cole's helpfulness, especially not when Nya and Skylor took a photo of his embarrassing situation "I better not see this on social media!" He pointed at the two teen girls who just giggled 

After an extremely long science class it's finally time for lunch, heading into the large cafeteria my eyes scanned the room for my friends, I quickly spotted them all seated at a table near the back of the cafeteria and hurriedly made my way over "So how is everybody's day so far?" I greeted them all with a question while I took a seat beside Lloyd 

"My day is going just fine Harumi, thank you for asking" Zane replied to me, awkwardly standing still beside our table, I guess since he doesn't really need to eat there's no need for him to sit down with us "Besides getting a ton of homework to do about yesterday's crazy events I'd say today is going good" Seliel answered me, taking a bite from her sushi beside Cole who of course was busy cramming a cake down his gullet 

"Uh yeah, about yesterday's crazy events" My boyfriend suddenly spoke up "Has anyone else noticed that everyone totally loves Lord Garmadon now?" The blonde asked us "On my way here I passed at least fifteen lockers that had some kind of Lord Garmadon poster taped over a Secret Ninja Force member" He told us, now that he mentions it I do recall seeing a lot of people wearing black and purple clothes, and numerous posters thanking Lord Garmadon "Oh don't tell me you're starting to get jealous" I teased my boyfriend "Why would he be jealous?" Seliel asked, making me realise what I had just said in front of her 

Jay seemed to almost choke on his food while the others sat there in silence, none of us really knowing what to say that wouldn't make Seliel question us any further, ugh why did I have to open my mouth! "I uhh, think what Harumi meant is that Lloyd must be jealous that his father is getting all the praise instead of his favourite Ninja" Nya quickly thought up, it seemed to work as Seliel went back to eating her lunch without any more questions, I mouthed the Water Ninja a thank you for her help. Phew, that was a close one, I really have to remember about Seliel not being part of our team

"I guess I should just enjoy my father's popularity while it lasts, people seem to actually like me now" Lloyd said before taking a bite out of his sandwich "If you ask me it's about time the Ninja get replaced, they clearly couldn't handle that giant snake and Lord Garmadon had to step in and save us" Seliel commented

For the rest of lunch we mainly sat in silence and just enjoyed our food with the occasional talk about whatever classes we had earlier that day, making sure not to spill anything suspicious in front of Seliel. The end of lunch bell eventually rang and students started leaving the cafeteria for the last few classes of the day, we said our goodbyes and all headed our separate ways, we all had History for the last class of the day so it shouldn't be too long until we all see each other again 

"Blah blah blah, blah blah blah history, more blah blah blah" Was all I could understand from whatever Mr. Saunders was saying, right now we're only two minutes away from the class and the school day as a whole ending so my brain has kind of started to shut down, it's not like the old man is going to say anything important anyways "Blah blah blah homework, blah blah blah Captain blah blah blah, group project!" 

See? Just a bunch of- WAIT WHAT?! Group project!? My brain instantly switched on to hear all about this group project Mr. Saunders was talking about "Instead of giving you all some boring boring homework I have decided to split you all into groups to work on a group project! It will be fun yes?" The bearded old man asked, only getting groans in response 

Mr. Saunders then began to split the class into groups of five each, I didn't pay any attention to the names being called out until one of us was eventually drawn out of the weird helmet Mr. Saunders had placed all of our names into "Lloyd Garmadon!" He announced, I looked over at my boyfriend who just like the rest of us seemed to be on the edge of his seat to hear the other names Mr. Saunders was about to call out 

"Jay Walker!"

"Zane Julien!"

"Skylor Chen!"

Only one more name left! So far things are looking good, I really hope I get called out next! Not only will I get to be on the group with Lloyd but then we wouldn't have to deal with a random student who isn't a Ninja getting in the way! 

"And the last member of this group will be...." Mr. Saunders' hand struggled to find a piece of paper inside the silver helmet, oh come on old man! This suspense is killing me! "Ah here we are!  What a sneaky little piece of paper! The last member of this group will be......Chad Park!" 

What?! We all turned to the back of the class to look at how Chad was handling the news only to see he was sleeping! Poor Lloyd, even with Jay and Zane on his group I don't think he'll be passing this assignment

"Now time to pick names for the next group!" Mr. Saunders snapped us back to the front of the class as his hand dove back into the helmet, his hand searched through the numerous pieces of paper until finally grabbing onto one 

"Cole Brookstone!" The old man announced, hopefully the next few names he calls out will just be us Ninja

"Kai Smith!"

"Harumi Jade!" Ooh that's me! Okay okay only Nya needs to be called out now, ugh but that would leave us without a fifth member. Argh I hate group projects! At least let it be Seliel! 

"Nya Smith!" Yes! Alright time for the moment of truth....

"And the final member of this group will be.......Griffin Turner!" Mr. Saunders shouted out, crushing my hopes of having a good group for whatever this group project is going to be about "Oh wait, silly me! It looks like Mr. Turner is not present today, that means bye bye Mr. Turner!" He said before throwing the piece of paper away in a trash can, yes! That means we can still at least get Seliel!

"So that means this group's final member will actually be........Seliel Violet!" Mr. Saunders said with a new piece of paper in hand, yes! Okay this time I'll make sure to keep quiet about anything related to our Ninja lives 

And so with the mind blowing plot twist of the Ninja being assigned a group project that will end this chapter of Ninja Life! What is the group project about? Will Kai ever stop wearing his iconic white bandage?! And where does Harumi hide her diary!? You'll just have to wait until the next chapter to see if these questions are possibly answered! 

I can tell you now though that the Harumi question will never be answered, I do wish to stay alive after all.....
