Blood

Amaya tossed and turned that night as she tried to fall asleep. It didn't help that Nick and Ebony wouldn't stop obsessing over Micro and Tommy, or rather, one of the ridiculous ship names they kept trying to come up with.

"TomCro! It's gotta be TomCro!" Nick whined.

"I feel like I've heard that one before." Ebony laughed. "I'm telling you, Micromas all the way. It has a nice ring to it."

"Why don't we just settle on giantshipping?" Nick sighed, flopping back onto her bed. "Since they're both the tallest on the team."

"They aren't that tall, Nick."

Amaya groaned and covered her head with her pillow. Over their senseless conversation, she could have sworn she also hear a bed creaking in the distance. Seriously? Mirco and Thomas doing that... already?!

Suddenly feeling pain, Amaya got up and left for the bathroom, realizing she started her period. Great.

Amaya locked herself in the bathroom and took care of her business, enjoying the silence and the dimly-lit room. She wouldn't mind sleeping in the bathtub lined with pillows and a good book if it wasn't a community bathroom. Sighing, she splashed a bit of water on her face before returning to the noise.

Surprisingly, the others seemed to have settled down and fallen asleep once she had returned. She snuggled into bed and took a deep breath, awaiting the nightmares soon to follow.

Amaya. Is that your name?

"Who are you?" Amaya knew she was speaking to the darkness, but it couldn't stop her. She needed answers.

Is your name Amaya?

"Tell me yours first and then I'll answer that."

You are so stubborn. You shall not know my name, but I am what you mortals call a mother.

"Whose mother...?"

The voice chuckled softly before whispering: You already know the answer to that.

"Y-You're Thomas' mother, aren't you?" Amaya took a step back, although it didn't seem to matter. She was nowhere. "Why have you come into my dreams?"

Thomas is busy. With his... boy... friend. The voice laughed. Pity. Here I was hoping I could have some grandchildren too.

"Well, uh, there's still... adoption...?"

Blood, Amaya. The voice sighed. I'm talking about blood. Thomas has my blood and I want him to fulfill his destiny because of that.

"What the hell are you-"

Amaya sat up in a daze, her head spinning. "Wh-What time is it?" She gasped, glancing around. It was still dark outside.

Nick grunted in her sleep and pointed to the alarm clock mounted on the wall. "Can't you read...?" She mumbled before burying her face in her pillow. "Go back t' sleep, sparky..."

Amaya squinted at the clock. 5:45 in the morning. She fell asleep at 11.

Sighing, she covered her face and landed back onto her pillow, still covered in a cold sweat. If that little encounter took up that much time...

How many more times would she have to fall asleep to meet Tommy's mother? How long was this going to go on? Would she even see her again?

...

How was she going to tell Tommy all of this?
