Snow Day

Hello guys, and welcome back to my one shots for JAYA. This has been incredible to write these, and seeing the people read them and give feedback and opinions: even commenting at all has given me motivation to keep doing this. So thank you all.

Now, keeping it short, I hope you enjoy it!

Set during the winter episodes of Season 11B.

(Nya's POV)

We had willingly gone to the Never Realm, in order to search for Zane. We are holed up in a small village, and Kai has finally got his powers back. We were in a current state of limbo, waiting for the next thing to happen.

However, we can't have a little fun here can't we? It hardly ever snows in Ninjago, and even less in Ignacia. Now, even though I cannot access my powers (which is very annoying) it has given us an opportunity to act like teenagers.

I gathered the rest of the ninja, excluding Lloyd, as he went off on his own, and told them my idea.

"You want to do what?" Kai asked.

"A snowball fight" I said nonchalantly, as if it was another weekly chore.

Jay, who was looking away at the landscape around us, suddenly turned to me with a glint of excitement in his eyes. His dreamy eyes. I can get lost in them for ages.

"I mean it can't be any harm, and we don't get opportunities like this often," Cole stuck up for me.

"But we are supposed to be looking for Zane." Kai argured. He did make a fair point to be honest.

"Re-lax Kai," Jay assured him, "We have nothing to do at the moment, and it would be better to enjoy this," he gestured to all the snow around us, "then to not enjoy the moment. What's the worst that can happen?"

I really wi- want him to stop saying things like that. Yes it's assuring, but usually every time we 'what's the worst that can happen' something worse happens. It's almost a curse.

"Fine, but are we doing teams?" he finally caved in. Only took about thirty-five seconds.

Cole started smiling, seeming happy with the idea. He went up to Jay and held his shoulders in a comforting manner. "I pick Jay"

I had to keep my overprotective side in, and not just rush Cole. I knew he meant no harm but there's only so much I could do to stop it.

All it took was one look from Jay until it seems to understand my issue. "Actually Cole, I was going to go with Nya," I smiled at this, at the same time Cole took his hands off Jay, and walked back next to Kai, a pout on his face.

"Alrighty then," I gained the full attention of all of them, "here are the rules: five minutes to prepare, can use all the village, no powers, no intruding the villagers, Kai," said person put their hands up in a defensive manor, as if he was surrendering.

"And no using the snowballs to threaten other people into giving you cake, Cole."

"Aw come on, you're no fun." Cole sulked.

"You all ready to go?" I asked.

"Ready!" Jay shouted enthusiastically.

"Ready." Kai still sounded unsure.

"Ready, I guess." Cole was still sulking over no cake.

"Then let the games begin!" I announced, then proceeded to run away from the area, grabbing Jay's hand and dragging him along with me. He nearly fell over due to the sudden pull, but managed to keep himself upright.

About ten or so minutes had passed, and me and Jay had managed to find a spot in an ally of the village, to build our defenses.

We decided on a snow fort, which should keep us safe, but we also made a backup base near the mountainside just in case. We made sure to camouflage that one. Just in case.

We also learned about our habits of making anything out of everything. We turned some hard snow, a few rocks around, and some elastic bands we had into snow guns, in which we could fire snowballs more accurately.

Bet they won't see that one coming.

"Thou believes that we are ready, my queen, however we have not seen the lava bandits anywhere round the grounds" my yin declares, trying to impersonate a knight. I giggle at his bad acting.

"Very good. prince, "I started playing along with him. No harm right?

"But we have no idea what their attack strategy is. They may have one that can topple this castle faster than we could expect!" Nya soon found that acting out voices was one of her new favourite things to do, and could really humor up a situation.

She understood now why Jay does the same thing.

Suddenly. I heard rustling outside of the fort. I shused Jay, who now heard the same thing. We coordinated in silence to each other, then at the same time, looked over the wall of the fort.

Outside, we saw Cole and Kai, with a cart that they had borrowed, full to the brim with snowballs. While we had gone for the defensive strategy, they had seemed to go for the offensive one. However we had no idea how they found us so easily.

"Greetings travelers!" I called out. "Are ye lost? How'd thou uncover the fort? By luck? By miracle?"

I had seemed to stump them.

"What is she saying?" I heard Cole ask.

"No idea. She must have been taking crazy lessons from Jay" Kai tried to whisper, but we both heard him.

"Ah! Come to attack us I see. Well my queen and I can not stand for this torment!" Jay was acting as well, and the more we did, the more confused in which we were saying.

"As you can see, this fort is well guarded, and we will not let you pass. Do your worst peasants!"

They seemed to take offense to that, while I giggled quietly. Jay always had a way of making me laugh.

I quickly stopped when a snowball flew past between us, nearly hitting me. I gasped slightly, looking quickly at Jay, who looked back at me with an equal amount of panic.

Our stares got broken by the laughing of two people. We both looked back at them to see the two laughing at our expense, and with a snowball in each hand. Jay put on his brave face.

If it's a battle that thou wants, it's a battle that thou shall receive!"

Before they had time to contemplate what Jay had just said, we started throwing our own snowballs at them. We managed to hit them a few times before they ran out of the alley with their cart, turning round the corner so we couldn't hit them.

We gave each other a high five before starting to prepare more snowballs in case they came back.

Not even five minutes had gone by before we could hear more noises outside of the fort. I peeked my head up to see not only Cole and Kai, but their recruits of about ten children there. I quickly put my head down.

"What's the situation?" Jay whispered to me.

"Not good," I answered. He looked up himself, only to narrowly avoid getting hit by a snowball.

He stood back up.

"You travellers again?! What sort of nonsense is this?! I thought you were banished for all eternity, yet you show up here again?! Have you lost your minds?"

Instead of answering us, they brought the children together, whispering to them, before all the children started grabbing snowballs and aiming for us.

However, they were not aiming for us. They were aiming for the wall we had built of snow. As each snowball hit, the wall started to crumble. We knew we were in trouble.

We quickly decided that a retreat was in order, to ensure our survival. We started running over to the secret base, and as we got in, we heard the sound of the wall finally coming down, and twelve sets of feet running into the place.

"Charrrgeeeeeee!!" We heard Kai yell out, however he stopped when he realised that we were not there anymore.

"Find them, at all costs!" Cole called out, instructing the kids to look around.

We heard footsteps all around us in the base, looking around to see where we had got to. We soon saw a shadow at the door. We both grabbed our snow guns.

Cole appeared at the door frame surprised to see us. He was about to shout out, but we pointed our snow-guns at him.

"Inside. Now." I told him sternly.

His eyes widened at the sight of the weapons, put his hands up and came inside of the base.

"How did you make automatic rifle snow guns?" His face a mix of wonder for the contraptions, but also fear. A lot of fear.

"Wouldn't you like to know, boulder brain." Jay countered.

"Besides, you couldn't make it even if you tried," I added on.

"Geez, you really were made for each other, weren't you?" Cole replied. I feigned offense.

"You really want me to shoot?!?" I whisper-shouted at him. Cole was soon petrified of her.

In reality, I really wanted to shoot him, not only because he is on the enemy team, but because he tried to take Jay in the game. He's min..- Careful, Nya. Overprotective side showing.

"N-no... Pleas-e...." He cowered. I smirked in victory.

"He was last seen entering... here?" I heard Kai's voice entering the base. I looked at Jay, and he looked back with a look of mischief in his eyes. I knew what he was going to do.

As Kai entered the room, he saw me and Jay holding his teammate hostage, before a battery of snowballs hit him. Jay had started firing at Kai, while I had fired all my rounds into Cole. Payback.

Both of them fell over, seemingly unable to get back up.

I walked over to Kai, snowball gun in hand.

"Surrender." I said. He gave reluctance, so I pressed the gun to his body. "Surrender!" I said more forcefully this time. He gave a look of defeat.

"We surrender." Kai replied. I got the gun off of him, and went back to Jay, we gave each other a high five, then a hug.

"You two have issues, just so you know. I'll call the therapist on you two." He threatened. His words had no meaning however.

"We haven't been able to find James in years. What makes you think he will turn up now?" I argued.

We have not seen him since the Day of the Departed. Even when we tried to get him to come after the city nearly got destroyed by Garmadon, and we had issues we needed to speak with him about, we still could not reach him.

"We'll find him one day, Nya" Jay assured me. I took his hand in mine, and smiled. We both started to walk out of the fort, while the others started quizzingly at us. We didn't care.

Yes we had fun today, but who knows what other things the Never-Realm would bring. We had to find Zane, and stop the Ice Emperor, but today we could relax, because tomorrow is when we make our preparations to fight.

I hope we hear back from Lloyd soon, but I'm in no hurry to fight yet. I want to enjoy the snow just a little longer.

Thanks for reading! With each chapter I do, I get more refined with the writing and spacing for the lines. Sorry if the other chapters felt a bit heavy to read with the long sentences before spaces between them, I hope this one is more manageable to read :D.

I am starting to build up a lore for an OC that I intend to eventually bring into the stories as a side character, which should have an interesting thing about them. They will develop over time.

However, that's it for now, and if you enjoyed, tell me what you think in the comments. But for now, I hope you enjoyed it!
