Little Lucy

Hey guys.

Firstly going to say rest in peace to Kirby Morrow, who played Cole. Cole wasn't my favourite character, however Kirby brought so much life into the role, making it feel unique, and without him, I don't think we would have gotten the Cole we know today.

However, I thought we need a bit of happiness in our lives, so I am doing this one-shot now. Thanks for reading

Jay and Nya had faced several threats over the course of their lives, from a giant orange to darkness itself, however nothing could prepare them for this. Their biggest challenge yet.

"Are you sure that you will be able to handle her? Lucy is quite a handful" Skylor said cheerily to Nya as she handed her the small bundle. Nya smiled down at her niece. The child looked up at her, and Nya forced herself not to melt right there. The baby let out some small coos in which Nya looked away, afraid she would become a puddle of joy by the end of the day. A suitcase of all of Lucy's things had been placed at her feet as well.

Kai and Skylor decided they needed a break from their child, and go on a weekend resort together, in which they thought to leave their one year old with her Aunt and Uncle, Nya and Jay. They inself were more than happy to spend some more time with their niece, and hopefully learn how to be parents.

"Yeah, we should be alright." A calming voice broke through her thoughts, turning around to see Jay standing at the door of their house, looking out to them. He jumped down the patio steps and hugged Nya from behind, being mindful of the small child in her hands. Nya just leaned into it and closed her eyes, a small sigh leaving her lips.

"Good, cause we have a flight to catch soon." She heard her brother yell out to them. She opened her eyes to see him at the wheel of his car, tapping the steering wheel impatiently. Both Nya and Skylor just rolled their eyes at him, before Skylor continued.

"Do you have everything? Nappies, formula, dr-"

"Come on Skylor, or we are going to be late!" Kai's voice rang out, even more frustrated than the last time. Skylor looked at him in annoyance.

"Okay!" She yelled back, before turning to Nya, "Sorry, have to dash. I have faith in you two."

"Thanks. Enjoy your holiday." Nya spoke, before positioning Lucy so she could see her parents for one last time until their return, adding the extra touch by moving her little arm to wave at them.

The trio watched on as Skylor climbed into the car, before the car sped off so fast you would think Kai was intentionally breaking the speed limit. And knowing her brother, he probably was.

They stood for a second longer, now just listening to the birds chirp in the air, before heading back into their home.

It wasn't a big home, however it suited their needs, with the three bedrooms they had. They had one for themselves, one which was a spare, and one which was the guest bedroom - often used by their adoptive son Lloyd when he came round, either for advice, or just wanted to stay for a bit. They didn't mind either way.

However, even he wasn't with them all the time, meaning that they often had time to themselves to spare. And although for them both that was a good thing, no longer being interrupted by Kai only a few years ago in the monastery when they wanted peace, it also meant not being with the others to have classic banter with.

It was only them two.

Both of them knew what they were signing for when they conjured up the money to live separately from the others, however they still wished the others would visit more often, however the thought of children for the last few years had been their main motivator for getting the house.

Don't get them wrong, they loved the monastery, and would love to keep living there with children, with the children themselves enjoying the company of the other ninja, and maybe even their own children, however Jay and Nya thought the monastery had a big issue..

It wasn't exactly child friendly. And that was the reason they had to move.

Now at least they had some company, even if it was for a weekend. As Nya sat down on their rugged couch, still in possession of the small life, Jay went to their storage room, where many of their past inventions and old trinkets, laid. He scattered through the old things until he found a cot that they used a while back, bought just in case. He pulled it out, and started making his way up the staircase with it, trying not to slip.

He made it to the top without much hassle, and with more care than usual. He took the cot into his and Nya's room, putting it at a good angle so in case of emergency they can grab little Lucy. He made his way back downstairs to see Nya and Lucy cuddling close together, with Lucy making a place in her lap. Jay grabbed a blanket and walked around to the front, sitting down and covering them all with it. Nya instinctively cuddled into his side, relaxing.

Jay wanted to watch the new series of 'J Who?' the story of a lonely time traveller, but decided against it for Lucy. Instead he put on a children's show about a postman and a cat. He looked out the window to see it was becoming dark, before wrapping his arm around Nya, and resting his head on top of hers. For a second, it felt like they were all an actual family.

And he went to sleep with that fact.

An hour or two passed before Nya decided it was time to go to bed. She grabbed the remote, and turned the TV off, before trying to wiggle her and Lucy out of Jay's bear hug.

She was unsuccessful.

Nya was tempted just to wake him up - either with a small push, which was not her style, or by pushing him straight off the couch, which she wanted to do. However, little snores interrupted her.

She looked down to see Lucy, still in her arms, snoring away. Nya decided then she would rather stay this way. She cuddled back into Jay, and closed her eyes.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Nya and Jay both shot up, looking around for the danger, when they realised it came from the couch. They both looked down to see Lucy bawling her eyes out, and it dawned on them at that moment that they had no idea what to do. They looked at the time, which was 2:30 am. They both looked at each other in panic

"What do we do now?" Nya asked.

"No idea." Jay replied, before picking up Lucy into his arms. Nya ran into the kitchen and grabbed one of the bottles, given to them by Skylor, before pouring some baby formula they got earlier on in the week into a bottle, and started heating it up.

As she watched the bottle heat up however, she heard the wailing continue, and Jay trying to calm her down. Nya let off a small smile, picturing herself and Jay as actual parents, however it still haunted her.

She didn't have her own parents to grow up with most of her life, so would she follow the same actions? She didn't have parents to look up to, so how could she be a parent now! Nya believed she would never be good enough to be a parent, no matter how much Jay said otherwise.

Ding

Nya pulled the now warm bottle out of the microwave, and walked over to Jay, taking Lucy into her arms and putting the bottle close to her lips. Lucy stopped crying for a second, before attaching her lips to the bottle, sucking gently. Both of them breathed a sigh of relief.

The formula was quickly drunk by Lucy, and when she was done, Nya handed the empty bottle to Jay and patted Lucy's back. A small burp was heard from the both of them.

"Since we are up, should we head to bed?" She suggested. Jay only had to nod. They both went upstairs, changed Lucy into some small pajamas, lended from Skylor, and just went to sleep with her between them, content on their faces.

DING DING DING DING DING!!!!!

The doorbell was run furiously, waking the two up in the process. They both groaned, before Jay looked at the clock.

10:30AM

"Jay..." Nya said groggily, lifting her head off the pillow, before sighing and lying back down. "Go get the door for us."

Begrudgingly, Jay got out of bed, and dragged himself down the stairs, opening the door to see Lloyd there cheerfully in his normal jacket and shirt, small suitcase in his hands.

"Hey papa." He started, but stopped when he took a better look at Jay's tired posture. "Long night?"

"Well yes, but actually no." Jay opened the door more to let Lloyd in. He took no time entering the living room and putting down his suitcase.

"Go back to bed Jay, I'll make you both some food."

"Bring some for little Lucy as well then." Jay tiredly called out as he was climbing the stairs.

"She staying over? Alright!" Lloyd called after him. Jay walked back into his room, in which Nya sleepily looked up.

"Who was that.." She waved her hand around sleepily.

"Lloyd. He's making us some breakfast." Jay got back into bed.

"Alright..." Nya sat up, putting her head back on the bench behind her.

It took around ten minutes, but their bedroom knocked, and Lloyd entered the room, carrying two trays in both hands skillfully.

"Here is your breakfast." Lloyd set down the trays on their laps. Full english.

Their favourite.

Nya's tray also had a small bowl of baby food on it, in which Nya set aside for a minute, until Lucy woke.

"I'll be downstairs if you need me." Lloyd mentioned before leaving the room, closing the door behind him. The two dug into their food, enjoying every last scrap of it.

They weren't exactly the cleanest of eaters, but they didn't care about that. They loved each other for what they were, not how they ate.

"BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Nya sighed, with a small chuckle, instinctively reaching over to her tray, which she put down to the side, and grabbed the bowl, handing it to Jay while she picked up Lucy, picking up the spoon from the bowl with some of the food on it, and gently prodding at Lucy's mouth.

Nothing.

"Here, let me try." Jay took the spoon from her hand, and held it out to Lucy.

"Here comes the mighty dragon! Rawr!" Jay made stupid noises to accompny it, and before Nya had the chance to roll her eyes, Lucy opened her mouth, allowing access for Jay to put the food straight in. Nya just smiled at his fatherly tendencies, before yanking the spoon out of his hands.

"Gimmie that!" Nya proceeded to grab another spoon of the food and held it out to Lucy.

"Here comes the big dragon? Rawr?" She said hesitantly, feeling a bit embarrassed. However it paid off as Lucy proceeded to open her mouth again for the second spoonful. Nya's face lit up at the action, feeling proud of herself. She looked at Jay to see the same emotions reflected on his own face.

For once in a long time, Nya felt like she would actually be great as a parent to her own child.

Someday.

It took a while, and many more dragon noises made, until Lucy had finished her own breakfast. Jay and Nya now were fully awake, ready for the day ahead. They both made their way downstairs to see Lloyd watching cartoons on the TV.

Some people just don't change their tendencies.

"Mornin' mama, papa. How was your night?" He asked cheerily, Jay plopping down on the left of him; Nya doing the same on the right.

"More eventful than normal" Nya answered before Jay could get his two cents in, smirking over Lloyd's shoulder while she did so. However, she was in the mood for something to drink.

She leaned over the side of the couch to the side table, and pulled out a bell containing the words "Ring for coffee" plastered on it. Nya wasted no time ringing the bell, over and over again, keeping it quiet enough to not disturb Lucy, however still loud enough to annoy the two boys.

"Alright, alright! I'll make you a coffee!" Lloyd got up frustrated, practically marching to the kitchen. "Just because I'm here doesn't mean you put everything on me!"

Jay and Nya just glanced at each other and chuckled, before Nya edged herself closer to Jay, placing Lucy down on the other side of her.

"Now that he's gone..." Jay backed away a bit, however quickly realised that there was not enough couch left to back out from. Nya loomed over Jay, and he had no idea where it was going.

Nya looked down at the scene before her; Jay trying to wriggle his way out of her grasp from underneath her, however his attempts were unsuccessful. She licked her lips seductively, making him squirm more.

"Maybe we should talk about th- mhhhhhhhhhhppphhhhhhhhh......" Jay was stopped mid-sentence when he felt a familiar pair of soft lips capturing his own. Jay stopped his struggling immediately, placing his hands at the sides of his hips, as Nya sunk down onto his chest, running her hands through his messy hair.

Nya felt a tongue poke at her lips, and she gladly opened up for the familiar feeling. Nya moaned into the kiss, letting her guard down more and more. All she could focus on was the sensational feeling of Jay's mouth on hers, the sweeping graze of his hot tongue followed by a low grade shock almost short circuiting her brain.

"I leave you two for one minute, and you decide to have a battle between you!" They pulled apart, a thin string of drool connecting them for a second longer, before they turned to Lloyd, who was facing the other direction, with her cup of coffee in his hands.

Nya bounced up, and grabbed the mug out of Lloyd's hands, taking a big sip of it.

"Thank you!" She said in an almost childlike voice, as if the last minute didn't happen. However, Jay still panting concluded that it actually did.

Jay, still dizzy, sat up, picking up Lucy, and started cuddling her close, listening to the small coos the child was making. Nya and Lloyd sat back down with them, with Nya positioning herself in the middle now instead of at the side. Lloyd just decided to continue to watch the cartoons, considering getting himself some brain bleach for himself. He had no idea how Kai put up with them.

Nya just watched on, watching Jay cuddle the small bundle of joy that they have been gifted, even if it was for a short time. Jay took notice, and gave over Lucy to Nya, in which she gladly accepted. Nya looked down at her, in which she got the chance to properly inspect her pjs, since they were in a rush to sleep the previous night.

They were orange, with little pixelated fire symbols surrounding the whole set, and all Nya was thinking was 'These are some of the cutest I have ever seen,' and 'Kai is feeling a bit egotistical now.' However the smell of them...

Smell.....

"Ewwwww..!" Lloyd was the first to point it out. "What's that smell!" He overdramatically reached for the side of his jacket, pulling it over his nose. "What's that smell!"

Both her and Jay had been fearing this.exact situation, however; like most things, are inevitable.

Jay went to his side, and found a single coin. They were not the wealthiest of people, usually only managing to scrape by, however they didn't care. He brought it out and flipped it, before slapping it on his arm.

"Heads or tails?"

"Heads." She answered simply, biting her lip in anticipation whilst also crossing her fingers for good luck.

"And its tails!" Oh fudge. "Good luck next time Nya!" she felt him pat her back.

"Yeah yeah, well you can make me another coffee while I'm at it." She thrusted the cup into his hands, and swiftly left to the downstairs bathroom.

Jay entered the kitchen, putting Nya's mug down, as well as grabbing two more out of the cupboard. He looked at the coffee mug, which was nearly out.

Is there enough to get more this month? Most likely not but I'll try my best.

He put two spoonfuls of coffee into the cup, before turning the kettle on. Proceeding, he grabbed two teabags, and put one into each cup, just in time for the kettle to boil, dispensing hot water into the coffee. Putting the final touch of milk and sugar into it, making her perfect brew. Only took him three years to do so.

With the final touches with water, milk, and a tad bit more sugar used, Jay brought out the three cups to the living room, where Nya was still not back. He handed Lloyd his cup, while setting the remaining two down in the empty spaces. He decided to go see what was keeping Nya.

"Nya? Are you done yet?" Jay knocked on the door, awaiting a response. All he got was a frustrated groan, then the door unlocked, revealing Nya, hair all over the place, her pajamas were ruffled to heck, and she was extremely frustrated.

"Not. Again." She fumed out, holding Lucy in her arms, whilst Jay stifled in a laugh. "You better have made my coffee!"

"I did." Jay said simply before walking back to the couch.

The rest of the morning was spent watching the cartoons with Lloyd, wondering what he ever saw in them. The afternoon came around quickly, and that is where the main issue started.

"Jay! Where's my coffee!"

"I'm looking darling!" Jay shouted back as he rummaged through the cupboards, desperately looking for more. However his search was futile.

"Nya told me to come bonk you for not hurrying up with them" Lloyd said as he entered the room, however, softened his look when he noticed Jay.

"You okay papa?" he questioned. Jay looked at him, giving him a slight smile in the process. However the smile was forced, and Lloyd could see that through.

"Just no coffee." Jay said simply, however Lloyd knew it was more than that. It would be simple for Jay to go get coffee from the shop up the street, however....

"Jay... Is it money problems again?" Lloyd asked cautiously.

Jay started to make an excuse up in his head, but one glance at Lloyd knew it was pointless to lie.

"Yeah... I just don't know what to do about it.." Jay started, dejected. "We are barely making do as it is, and I'm scared that when we do bring another into the family, that we won't be able to support ourselves." He started shedding a few tears, in which Lloyd pulled him into a hug, rubbing his back gently while Jay let it out.

"You do realise all you have to do is ask, and we will help you, right?" Lloyd pulled him back to look at Jay's expression.

"I... I can't do that Lloyd. I- We would feel too guilty." Jay admitted, suddenly finding the floor more interesting than anything else. However, Lloyd was determined.

"I won't take that for an answer! We have plenty of money in the monastery, so from next week we will be sending you some money to help pay the bills."

"We won't take it," Jay mumbled out.

"I won't give you a choice." Lloyd insisted, trying to get Jay to see some sense for once in his life.

Jay paused, before looking back up, gratitude flooding his face.

"Thank you." is all he managed to get out, a few tears down his face, "just don't tell Nya about this? She will get annoyed that I am agreeing to it."

"Alright. We'll save it for another day." Lloyd agreed, before pulling his wallet out and giving Jay a 10 note. "And go get some coffee? Before she really kicks off." All Jay had to do was nod.

"I'm going to get some more coffee! Be back soon!" Jay yelled to Nya, before taking the back exit by the kitchen.

"Don't be long. I'm dying over here!" She yelled back overdramatically, eliciting a laugh from Jay.

"I won't be. Don't worry."

Night had fallen, and Lloyd had tucked in for the night, but not before both Jay and Nya went and gave him a loving hug. They also put Lucy in for the night. Right now, it was just the both of them left.

Nya decided to get out a bottle of wine they had, for the occasion. They sat down in their living room, soft tunes playing from their radio.

"Ya know..." Nya started, gaining his attention. "Do you ever think about it?"

"About what?" He responded, clueless.

"About being parents." The simple sentence put the mood in place. Jay chuckled awkwardly.

"Welll...... I have been thinking about it a lot, more often than usual this week." He laughed "Why's that?"

"Oh.... no reason really..." Nya's voice slowed, but picked back up.

"Anyway, to us." She held out her glass to him.

"To us" He held his out, making a clink before they both drank.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

Both of them groaned.

"Your turn." Nya told him, pushing him slightly. Jay got up off the couch and slumped upstairs.

"You okay little buddy?" Jay attempted to sooth, but to no avail.

"Little one, please don't cry..." Nothing still.

"Do you want a song? I can sing." Lucy stopped for a second, before wailing again. However, the one second was all the confirmation that he needed. He cleared his throat before starting, keeping his voice low and soft to not wake Lloyd.

"Somewhere, over the rainbow..."

"Wayy up highhhh......"

"And the land that I heard of..."

"Once in a lullaby..."

"Somewhere, over the rainbow..."

"Skies are blueee..."

"And the dreams that you dare dream..."

"Really do come truee......"

Jay looked down to see Lucy asleep in his arms. However, quiet clapping brought his attention to the door.

"Didn't think you would have it in you." Nya smiled at him, before letting out a yawn, flopped onto the bed, and fell asleep instantly, a smile on her face. Jay grinned, before pulling a blanket over her, and fell asleep beside her.

"Are you sure she was alright?" Kai asked, skeptical.

"Y-yeah!" Jay grinned, "She was great."

"It was perfect. Thank you." Nya joined in.

Kai grabbed hold of Lucy, bringing her into him, cuddling close.

"Did you miss me Luce?" Kai laughed, as did Lucy.

"Thanks for looking after her for me."

"No problemo."

Nya handed over the suitcase of the things back to Kai, in which he took.

"We'll handle it out here." Lloyd said, coming out of the door. "You both have a seat inside"

Nya just groaned, and went inside, however pulled Jay aside when he entered.

"Jay, I have something to show you." Jay's face scrunched up, and the only word Nya could use that would fit, was 'adorable.'

"What is it?" He questioned. Nya looked unsure, but straightened her face.

"Follow me."

She led him into the bathroom, next to the countertop.

"You know how I said about wondering about being parents yesterday?" Nya said, her face reddening, and her voice got quieter.

"Yeah? What about it?" Jay said, looking at both of them in the mirror. However the reflection saw them at the monastery, wearing completely different clothes. His attention got swiped by a small white and purple stick being thrusted into his hands. Nya just looked down at the floor, hiding both embarrassment, and her smile which was slowly forming. Jay took a peek, dumfounded.

"Your..... Your....!" Jay's smile got bigger, as he embraced her, laughing and crying at the same time, keeping her tight in the hug. They quickly pulled away.

"Yes." She looked at him, a smile that could even compete with Jay's expression forming.

"I'm pregnant."
