Chapter 21: Vulnerability at its finest

Their hearts ached. Their eyes swelled up with tears, The former emerald and cerise red ones. Both eying down the building holding the life of the scared little quiet one together as it crashed down towards the cliffs of rubble already forming with every move that the stone colossus made. The ambiance was insane. People screaming in agony and smoke from stones fluttered into view. The current emperor grasped his chest tightly as he shivered deep inside. Despite his heart being rotten all those years ago. He still felt emotion? He didn't know what it was. Anger, sadness, guilt-? "D-Daughter.." he let out a low gasp, his pupils and now mixed with crystal tears rolling down his cheeks glanced down at the results. A massive pile of rubble. No way did she make it even though he hated to admit it. His daughter, his advisor, his second in command, she was gone just because of a foul mistake he had committed hours ago.

"You want this masterpiece of a city Lloyd?" He clenched his fists and his phrase was practically dripped in sarcasm. He stepped towards the edge of the cracked platform and raised all four of his arms. Shortly, a faint violet aura appearing into his palms. "Then you can have it. When I destroyed it!" He threatened. Not wasting any more time,Garmadon eyed the stone colossus. Raising one of his arms right after and commanding it to march it's way towards the rest of the resistance. Lloyd took hold of the elemental master of Amber as she laid there in his arms, motionless. "Lloyd..we need to move." called the wannabe-brown ninja. The master of water felt uneasy with that thought. "Are you insane? We don't have Airjitzu nor our elemental dragons. We can't jump down immediately." She explained to the powerless-boy. Lloyd nodded in response to Nya's statement then glanced back down to Skylor. "We need to return to the base. Skylor's condition is getting worse." He picked her up bridal-style and started to run off towards the edge of the rooftop. The railings blocking their chance to just jump off.

The master of water and Dareth followed the green ninja. "Lloyd I hope you know what you're doing.." The man croaked. His brown eyes tipping over the edge. His stomach clenched back and he felt uneasy-more than uneasy. Unfortunately for our band of heroes, the stone monster cut them off and roared, stepping closer to the building they were standing on. Nya sighed. "There it is.." she attempted to shut an eye. Dareth backed away, his eyes showing legitimate fear rising. "We're so doomed.." he commented fearfully. The green ninja narrowed he eyebrows at the sight of the monster. "My father thinks he can get rid of us this easily? Well we prove him wrong. You know why? Because the resistance never quits. Am I right?" He attempted to pull off a half-smile. Who was he kidding? He couldn't just throw the situation around like it was nothing.

He saw it happen. He saw her fall from that collapsing building. He saw the fear rise in her pale face. She looked so scared but like the helpless ninja he was, he did nothing except watch. A spectator watching from the cinema as her story closed at such a cruel and painful death. Even for Harumi, she didn't deserve such a passing. No one deserves to die. Despite how cruel and twisted they were to this world. Lloyd thinks that everyone deserves a second chance. Even Harumi herself. So caught up in his thoughts, the ninja didn't realize the crystal transparent tears forming in his blackened eyes. He needed someone to point it out that he was crying. And so that's what he got for standing there, holding Skylor firmly as his gaze was fixed on the horizon. "I'm not sure if you've noticed Lloyd, but it's bad timing to let out emotions." Nya pointed out, whilst pointing at the colossi. He stayed silent and attempted to wipe his tears away.
Nya turned her own gaze at the colossi in front of them. "If you'll just cry, I'll do all the work." She offered before running off towards the colossi and hopped off the rooftop.

Dareth gasped. "Nya what are you-" he was caught off by more roaring produced by the stone monster.

The water ninja jumped off the rooftop and onto the colossi's hand. She spreaded her arms to keep her balance but couldn't help but let out a small panicked scream. "W-Woah!" She tried to keep steady despite the colossi being violent at the moment. Lloyd and Dareth didn't risk it anymore. Nya was clearly in danger. They needed to help. They ran towards the roof and jumped off-well only Lloyd did. Dareth stayed behind. His lips quivered as he shook. "I-I can't do this.." he yelped. Nya turned around to face the man. "Dareth! You need to get off the building it might-" She was cut off by the colossi's hand brusquely slamming itself against a wall of windows. Ofcourse belonging to the building Dareth was currently on. He screeched and bounced around, trying to find a platform that won't go down as fast. Nya yelled in even more panic as she was flung into the air from the sudden attack. Lloyd watched, as she managed to jump to the nearest building. "Nya!" He called out her name. His quick escape was rather rough-not to mention the landing. As the colossi slammed his hand in the opposite direction, the blonde took this chance to jump off the hand and land on his back on the nearest rooftop. If it weren't for that extra airtime, he would have been a goner.

The black haired girl grabbed into the colossi's fist. Her small fingers grabbing onto his stone ones. "Ah!" She yelled as the colossi lowered has hand back down and placed it by his side. Nya was hung there as the monster didn't dare move. "The damn Garmadon...why make me so vulnerable.." she cursed loudly as she tried to find a way to escape this situation. She was clinging onto a titan's hand mid-air. "If I try jumping, I'll surely get hurt. Come on Nya think, what does a real ninja do in this situation?" She questioned, peering over shoulders and only spot more of the cement roads getting destroyed. The answer would be to use your powers. She just didn't had the concentration to think properly. Nya huffed, her breathing speeding up as she cried out for help. But Dareth was too high up and Lloyd was too far.

"What would water do at a time like this.." she thought mentally before examining the ground a few meters below her. Her eyes scanned the place as attentively as possible, trying to find the littlest of things hidden to her disposal. It took her a good 5 minutes until she came across her answer. It was standing there all day and every night of her life. The answer was so simple? But how come she didn't think about it sooner? Stress, panic? Who knows? Only the master of the calm water lilies knows. The ground itself would bring her to safety. "If I aim just right.." with her free hand, she pointed at the ground. Her eyebrows narrowed as she tried to focus. But the screams of agony or the roaring of the colossi ruined the mood. "I just need to- wait...I think I've got it!" She clenched her fingers together as she felt as sprout of H20 blossom into existence. "I can't give up. Ninjas never quit!" She tried to motivate herself as she let out a few exhausted grunts. It took her a few minutes to form the bubble required for her plan. But if she could pull it off, it would have been perfect and worth it to live up this horrifying situation.

When the bubble made of water was formed, she aimed it to the ground and released it there. She smiled as the substance slowly escaped her hand. However, for the people running around, they'd expect slightly smaller raindrops next time instead of a whole puddle or more so- flood. As the water landed on the ground, it blew most of the people away in different alleyways due to its big volume and capacity. She saw the colour of the oceans spark up with her own black eyes. "Lloyd! Dareth! If you hear me, meet me on the ground!" She called out to her fellow teammates, unaware if they heard her or not. That wasn't her main concern at the moment. She needed to get out of here, that's what. Nya took a deep breath before swinging her legs back-then-fourth. Again and again until she earned extra air time. The water ninja cheered as she got to close to the windows of the two buildings. Surprisingly, she still hung on the colossi's hand. "Alright...! 1....2....3..!" She counted before letting go and skydiving down onto the massive puddle of water.

Splat, on her grey armourwear, she felt something wet on her stomach. The water ninja opened her eyes from her wincing and expected it to be blood. What if she did gain an injury from that fall? Though she was surprised to realize she wasn't hurt at all. Nya stood up from the position she was in and observed that she was in fact in the water. "I actually...did it." She praised herself confidently and blissfully. Atleast she knew that her training with Master Wu wasn't gone out to waste completely. She wasted no time and got out of the puddle. Not bothering to clean up the mess just yet. "Nya! " called a voice by her right. The girl, taken complexly aback from the call looked for the speaker and managed to find Lloyd and Dareth waving out to her. They were by the sidewalk and entrance to an alleyway. "Come on!" They gestured. Nya nodded and smiled. She ran to the gang and tapped Lloyd's shoulder to show them that she was alright.

"That was amazing you know that? Master Wu would be proud." Lloyd congratulated her for not only surviving but also pulling off such a stunt. Dareth hummed in agreement as he cheerfully walked in front of them. Nya chuckled. "Aw Thanks, Though that was nothing. Just went with my instincts." She explained to the green ninja. In which the blonde didn't seem to understand with her logic. "Instincts? I don't think flooding Ninjago is an instinct, Nya." He pointed out mockingly, laughing along side her. Dareth stepped in after he said that: "Unless you're the serpentine or Harumi." He joked as well. Nya kept walking, trying not to burst out of laughter from the jokes these two were doing. That was until the three individuals stopped at the figure of someone at the end of the alleyway.
They had a battle stance and they chuckled back at their jokes. Though something about their voice. It gave it away that they weren't laughing due to happiness and amusement but more because of pain.

"You think news don't travel fast? Pesky ninja?" They started and stepped closer towards the three heroes. In which they obviously stepped back in response. The figured stepped out from the shadows, fists clenched and tears leaking down from their face. They had grey sin, a black ponytail and a violet sweater. They knew exactly who was standing before them at this point. It was Ultra Violet. Enraged as ever.

"She was my best friend! And now she's gone because of your pathetic cowardice!" She screamed at them. Preparing for a fight.

A/N Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed the first chapter of Arc 2! Woo! I'm honestly proud with this chapter since it's just around 1900 words and i stayed up till 11PM-1AM to write this and it's on a Wednesday! And that means school. Back on the chapter, Hopefully Ultra Violet won't get too angry at them for Harumi's death and can we please congratulate Nya for pulling off a stunt like that?
