Chapter 1: Once Green, always green.

It had only been two weeks ever since emperor Garmadon took control of Ninjago City. He enjoyed seeing the fear in the already mortified villagers's eyes. He didn't understand why he loved this feeling but he  dreaded more. Desperately hoping that his son would show that same fear for him. He wanted his own son to be afraid at the monster he has become. He knew perfectly well that he was a monster and he wasn't ashamed at all to admit it. The emperor approached the edge of Borg tower, the location of the Sons of Garmadon's base. Even the man was surprised that a whole cult was organized just to worship him for his heroic act to slay the great devourer. He certainly didn't want to put all this effort that his minions did to ressurect him to waste. He growled as he lifted his hand forward and made the stone titan move. He will find his son and he will make him bow before him. That was his number one priority.

A loud thud was heard in the distance, it must be from the Colossi moving deeper into town. Ultra Violet shot up from her chair and directly made her way to Harumi's chambers. She knocked on the door urgently. " Quiet one! I believe the emperor is angry again! " she screamed, glancing her surroundings in panic. The walls seemed to shake a little and the lights occasionally went out. Harumi, who was in her chambers, planning the next course of the plan, groaned in frustration and opened the door. " Will you shut up?, do you even know who we're dealing with at the moment? " she asked the shaken general. Ultra nodded quickly. " Pfft yeah duh! I am not a member of the S.O.G for nothing. " she replied sharply.

Harumi glared at her. " Then you should know by now that Emperor Garmadon has a short temper especially when it comes to that troublesome green ninja. Hm, while you're here Ultra Violet. What are the reports of the raid I assisted to you, Killow and Mr. E? " she inquired, holding the knob tightly as the walls shook even more. Ultra Violet gulped. She knew exactly what happened yesterday during the raid. The ninja were right before her eyes and yet, she let them escape? Just because of a simple motorcycle malfunction.

The sound of the engine went on then turned off right after. Ultra Violet kicked the wheel of the vehicle in fury. " Come on! Come on! Work you stupid bike! " she tried to turn on the engine again, only resulting in a failed attempt. Killow and Mr. E were parked beside her, waiting for her to get on her bike. " Will you hurry up? The ninja are getting away. " Killow pointed at the small group. Ultra Violet yelled angrily. " I swear it's not my fault. Someone must of- " she paused to kneel down and examine the engine even closer for any items that could be potentially stuck on the mechanism. Killow rolled his eyes before turning the handle of her bike. " Maybe you aren't just turning it enough." He suggested. Ultra gave a smug look. " you take me for an idiot? This is a biker's gang Kil- " her statement was stopped as smoke blew in her face. The girl huffed the smoke on reflex and began coughing violently. " A-Ah! I swear to Garmadon-" she stopped to cough. " I-I'm gonna-" she stopped again. " I'm gonna kill you! "

Ultra Violet felt something sharp entering her cheekbones. As she blinked and returned to Reality, she was greeted with the blade of a dagger digging through her cheek. Her eyes turned to Harumi who was the one pushing the weapon deeper. She immediately slapped the sharp switchblade out of her hands, freeing her already swollen cheek. Harumi smiled as the weapon hit the cold cement flooring. " Ugh about time you snapped out of your thoughts. Now will you answer my question? " she grew impatient. The purple coded general knew that this was pointless. She took a deep breath and looked at Harumi right in the eye.

" I-I...we failed to track down their base location. I'm so sorry! It's my fault! " she stopped right away as she realized what she just said. "It's my fault" that sentence rung in her head several times. Ultra couldn't believe it. She took responsibility for once? Did she woke up from the wrong side of the bed this morning? Harumi narrowed her eyebrows before punching the door. " Augh! I thought I could have trusted you three! What was the cause of this failure?! " she was now enraged since she knew that Garmadon was gonna take his anger up on her and not with the fools who deserved his scolding. Ultra giggled quietly. It was her way to calm herself down in a stressful atmosphere.

"We were about to hunt down the ninja but then my stupid bike wouldn't function. " she explained shortly in embarssement. It was truly embarrassing, being one of the generals of a punk motorcycle gang and your bike just gives up on you in the middle of a mission? Harumi listened attentively. " well in that case, I don't blame you Ultra Violet. These bikes are pretty rusty anyways." she told her. Ultra's eyes lit up in relief. " Thank Garma- "she was cut off by Harumi saying one last thing before slamming her door shut to continue working on her plan.

" bring it by a repair Center, will you? "

Ultra Violet sighed and walked away from the Quiet one's antechamber. Taking her advice about bringing her bike by a repair center. Though one thought confused Ultra. Why would Harumi care? Usually, the only interaction the two had was Harumi giving her orders, snitch secrets or information she found about her target to the general or scold her for her failure. Ultra Violet just brushed it off, not bothering to search for an answer. She just kept walking down the halls until she reached the elevator. She pressed the button and waited. 

She gave a blank expression as the metal doors opened in front of her. She didn't even notice Mr. E standing there. "Ultra, you look bothered. What's the matter? " he asked in a concerned voice, still keeping his robotic tone. The purple coded general didn't answer his question and just stared out the windows. She wonders how much Garmadon and Harumi had to spend just to get these installed. Probably a lot. She doesn't  see outdoor metallic elevators everyday in Ninjago, it made the girl wince. Mr. E placed his hand on her shoulder. " Please tell me Ultra, I'm your friend" he insisted. Ultra Violet slowly turned her head towards him, her frontage showing zero emotions. 

"How are you not affected by this? We failed Emperor Garmadon once again and now Harumi is beyond angry. Maybe even annoyed that we're her generals. For someone like her, she doesn't deserve failures. " Ultra explained briefly as she turned her head back and stared outside. The elevator proceeded to go down. Mr. E kept listening. " Is that  what you're fed up about? " he inquired. Ultra Violet rolled her eyes. " No I'm conflicted that I wear purple lipstick everyday, what do you think?! " she exclaimed sarcastically. She hissed lightly, annoyance  growing inside of her. Mr. E looked away. Silence filled the lift. 

"Hey...I'm sure she forgives you Ultra Violet and second, we aren't failures because no one is perfect. " The nindroid proceeded to explain.  "Gee, thanks. That's exactly what I'm bothered about. That we couldn't do our job properly! Don't you realize? We failed. Every. Single. Time!" she was on the verge of tears. At this point, Ultra was so fed up with her job and how pressuring it was to be one of the generals. She couldn't stand being scolded at for every mistake she does. She's sick of getting blamed at. What if..? What if she just joined the ninja instead. Yeah, all the stress would be freed from her and she's sure that the ninja wouldn't pressure her as much as Garmadon and Harumi. All this thinking, made her zone out. 

"Hey! Hey! Ultra? It's your stop. " Mr. E warned before waving his hand in front of his friend. Ultra shut her eyes and opened them again. This was the second time that she zoned out today which wasn't something Ultra Violet does often. Yet again, she never really had a day to think about her life. Was it a mistake to prioritize her entire life on serving Garmadon? Ultra sighed and stepped out of the elevator, leaving Mr. E alone in the elevator once again. She walked out of the Borg Tower and grabbed her bike by its handle, pulling it all the way to the nearest repair Center.

"Can you guys believe it? " Jay asked. All the ninja stopped what they were doing and faced him. "The fact that Lord Garmadon is back and is terrorizing the city? Not really hard to believe since that's what he did many years ago. " Cole responded. Lloyd looked down clearly disappointed. " I don't get it. We stopped the ritual in time so why is he-? " the green ninja replied to the topic of the conversation. Nya put her arm around him. " If you say that's it your fault. Then I'm here to disagree, there's clearly one person to blame for this mess and that's Harumi. " she narrowed her eyebrows. The boys were impressed with how straightforward Nya was. 

"Yeah I guess so...but to be fair, grief just took over her. She was just a child when she lost her parents. I couldn't imagine how traumatizing that must have been for her. " Lloyd spoke up to her defence which shocked Nya. "Lloyd why are you standing up for that awful person? She broke your heart and she is the reason why we're in this chaotic set of events. " Nya explained. Lloyd looked away and frowned. " And you're right again. I just...I can't believe that she would do this. She's the princess of Ninjago, if she clearly cared for this city, she wouldn't have let this happen. " he responded shakily. One thing was sure about the green ninja. He had a big heart for no matter who it was. To his power-hungry father  to the sweet and innocent princess. Boy how things have changed. 

For some reason, there was this voice that told him to defend Harumi will all his heart. This feeling hurt and he had no idea why. The ninja always told him to never stand up to their enemies since they were positive that they would never change. For them, out of all the villains they fought, Harumi was the one that crossed the line. In their eyes, she doesn't deserve to get a second chance. Her actions have hurt many and hence, she killed the emperor, empress and Hutchins. The people that loved her the most, how dare she kill them? Did she not have a heart? For Lloyd, he still believes that Harumi can change. He has faith in her.

Harumi crumpled up the sheet of paper and threw it in her trash bin. Her eyebrows were lowered and her teeth were clenched. She was clearly frustrated that something in her plan didn't work. "Ugh! " she began to bang her head on her desk as tears rolled down her eyes, ruining her red face paint a little. If she didn't come up with this plan in a few minutes, she would have gotten punished by Garmadon. She already had to cover for her generals's failure once again since she cared about them deeply, she didn't want to see her friends get yelled at by her emperor. 

"Why did I think that this would be easy...? " she sobbed quietly. She thought that ressurecting Garmadon would be a piece of cake, obviously she was wrong, using the ninja's slow pace to gain the masks as an example. She felt that arriving to Strangler's path took forever. Stupid Lloyd. She growled as she thought of him. For some reason, she couldn't get him out of her mind. She didn't actually love him, she was just using him for this to work. He got what he deserves and that's his heart getting broken. She couldn't feel any more proud of that. 

That was evidently a lie. 

"I don't understand, why do you still care about him Rumi? He killed your parents! " she shouted at herself. She was being mindless to even care about the green ninja. It was obvious where he was placed in her heart and that's on the wall, hung there with a knife. Harumi picked up another sheet of paper as she began getting back to work on a new ambush route. Until a light knock was audible. " I swear if it's Ultra panicking again. " she made assumptions. The white haired leader stood up and opened the door to be faced with a member of the S.O.G 

"What do you want? " she ordered. The man seemed nervous as his hands trembled. " M-Miss Harumi, Emperor Garmadon wants to see y-you. " he stuttered nervously. "He must be a new recruit or he never got to be my personal guard. " Harumi thought in her mind. She turned towards the scared guard. " He wants to see me? For what reason? " she wanted to know more information to why she was being called. "He didn't precise the reason. He just wants to see you." He gulped before moving out of the way. Harumi rolled her eyes and walked out of her room with a nervous expression on her own frontage. 

What could he possibly want to see her for? For the recent raid that was a complete failure? Or probably it's him demanding to know the next course of action. Problem is, the plan isn't ready due to all the rerouting Harumi had to do. Lloyd is smart and he would block any entrance to their base even if it's two streets away, he would do anything to block it off. Not like she knows the location of their hideout or anything. She was determined that this plan was not gonna fail. She just needs more time and getting scolded by Garmadon for not having it ready yet...the thought made her shiver. 

As she got inside the elevator, it brought her up all the way to the rooftop where Garmadon's throne room was located. "You can do this Rumi..it's just...one small conversation. He's not..gonna hurt you.." she began talking to herself again. It showed her loneliness despite residing wth more than three people. She clenched her fist as she felt her insides tense up. Why was she so nervous? It's not like it's the first time that she spoke to Lord Garmadon. 

She heard the metallic doors open, she huffed anxiously as she stepped out of the small space on the lift. She proceeded to make her way to Lord Garmadon and bow down to him. " You requested to see me, my lord? " she kept her head low. The man stared at her for a second. "Mind if we talk about some policy laws for a second? " he asked nicely for once. Harumi felt her jaw drop. What did he just say? 

" Yes Ofcourse my lord. As the new emperor of Ninjago, what is the first law you'd like to set up?" She asked , lifting her head up to face him. Garmadon smiled and raised all four arms of his in the air. " I would like to make the colour green illegal. " he declared. Harumi gave him an unimpressed look. 

"Sometimes I wonder if I ressurected the right Garmadon. Because I obviously summoned the dumb one.." she thought to herself. "Wait what? " Harumi looked at him with wide eyes. He sneered. " you heard me right! Make that law official now! "

Lloyd, Kai and Nya walked out of the resistance base. " Make sure to be back with food! Loads of it! " Jay shouted from the open window. Cole popped his head out. " Oh and can you possibly get me desert? I haven't eaten any sweets ever since the whole ritual thing. " he asked. Jay laughed. "I thought you said you wanted your body to be a temple. " he replied. The black ninja blushed slightly. " Well yeah I do. But it wouldn't hurt to eat a few cakes now a days. "

Nya chuckled at her turn. "Alright alright. We'll see what we can do. " she answered them. Kai nodded. " We wouldn't want to waste too much time by the In and out. Who knows? Sons of Garmadon could be packed there. " he remarked. Lloyd fixed his green sweater a bit. Not aware of the fact that his father made that colour illegal. 

As the three began walking, they heard footsteps coming up from behind them. Being ninjas, they had fast reflexes and turned around to be faced with an individual with a black hood over their face. It was unknown of who it was. They charged at Lloyd and tackled him behind a cornered wall. The green ninja whimpered at the pain. He wasn't expecting that. He rubbed his head and looked at his attacker. Nya and Kai grabbed their weapons out and cornered the unknown attacker. That's when the person removed their hood. 

"What are you doing out here in green?! Are you nuts?! You can be put to jail! " it was the voice of a female. Lloyd instantly recognized who it was. But he was pretty stunned about the fact that was just known to him. Green is illegal now? What an unnecessary law to be put. 

"Skylor?"

A/N Please tell me what you guys think of the first chapter of the Change Of Heart AU? I literally spent all day brainstorming for the events that were gonna occur in this chapter. I started writing this at 12PM and finished it at 8PM. So overall, I'm pretty proud with this chapter. Also, who do you guys think sabotaged Ultra Violet's bike?
