Context
Hey so this stuff is super important of you want to understand the circumstances your character is living in, depending on which ninja's scenario you follow. Please read!!
General:
• I have no idea what season these scenarios take place in.
• The ninja and readers are aged 16-19. I haven't decided yet lmao
• Also, for the reader, I will be using the British school system because I don't know the American way. I'll explain how it works at the end of this chapter if you don't already know.
• Ninja don't go to school except for Lloyd - he's 16 because that's his age in the movie and I feel it's appropriate.
• Nya is 16 and Kai is 19. I think they have about a 3 year age gap and I didn't want Nya to be younger than 16 which is why Kai had to be so old. I might write scenarios for Nya at some point - do any of you want that?
• You have a best friend who is the same person across all the scenarios. Initially, I just put (B/F/N) but I've decided to make a new character who serves as your best friend in the story. They are female and they are called Danielle.
• Danielle - who prefers Dani - is quite "girly", very loud, confident and flamboyant. She is bossy, over dramatic but very caring and protective of you. I haven't properly built her character but it's a work in progress and I might change her name in the future.
• Canonically, Zane must be about 30 (if you estimate from how Dr. Julien ages) but in all scenarios, he is 18 (measuring on behaviour).
Ninja's Ages:
• Cole - 18
• Jay - 17
• Lloyd - 16 (mentally 13)
• Zane - 18
• Kai - 19
• Nya - 16
• Reader (Y/N) - varies
Background for Cole:
• You are 16 and are studying for your GCSE's while working at an old lady's bakery with your 21 year old brother. It is called 'Cakery Bakery'.
•
Your brother, who is referred to as (B/N), works with you because he had bad grades at school and no employer would take him on. Fortunately, the owner of the business - an elderly lady named Mystaké - had low standards and kept an open mind. After all, she accepted you as an employee and you hadn't even taken your exams yet so she decided not to use grades as judgement of one's character and abilities.
• After a few tests, she accepted your brother but is way stricter on him than on you.
• You work there at weekends from 10 am - 3pm (with a half hour lunch break from 12:30 - 1:00) and after school on week days from 4pm - 7 pm. This allows you to have enough to time to have dinner and do homework.
• Mystaké is quite lenient and doesn't mind if you miss a few days of work because you have to study - as long as you tell her at least 24 hours in advance, so she can arrange for a replacement.
• You live with your Mum becuse your parents are divorced but they are on good terms and you see your Dad every other weekend.
• Your Mum is looking for a partner and goes out on a date once every week on average so sometimes she's not there at dinner.
• (B/N) is planning on moving into his girlfriend's apartment but wants to be financially secure, first. She's called Alyssa and is a total sweetheart. He sleeps at her place a lot of the time, as he's already moved most of his belongings into the apartment but still likes to spend time at your house.
• Your Mum is a teacher at Sensei Wu's academy. As it is a primary school, she teaches all lessons but specialises in French, as she can speak it fluently.
• Your Dad works in a boring office job for a boring company that you don't really care about.
Background for Jay:
• You are 16 and are studying for your GCSE's.
• You live with your Dad who is an engineer and designer at Borg Industries. He's quite important so Cyrus Borg - despite being top the hierarchy - is his good friend, as well as his boss.
• You don't know your Mum - your parents spilt up when you were only a baby because your Mum cheated on your Dad. He was willing to still live together and raise you but she wanted to live a different life with her new aged, rich boyfriend.
• Obviously, your Dad was heartbroken as he was only 24 at the time but doesn't blame you at all. He doesn't think that your Mum changed because you were born; she only revealed who she truly was.
• You've met your Mum on a few occasions - like some family gatherings or at mutual friends' parties. She has two kids now - boys age 8 and 5. They're quite sweet but definitely spoilt.
• It's kinda sad to see her happy with her new husband and the kids she wanted but you never knew her personally and from what you've heard, she isn't that nice of a person. Plus, you have your Dad! And he's very supportive and loving.
• You've met Borg several times - especially when you were younger and your Dad had to take you into work with him because he couldn't get a babysitter in time.
• Borg has also been to your house to discuss business and designs with your Dad outside of work hours. He let's you call him by his first name but your Dad still refers to him as "Mr. Borg".
Background for Lloyd:
• You are 17 and are studying for your A-levels. Lloyd's mentality aged up slightly as well but his physicality aged up more.
• This means Lloyd is in year 11 and is studying for his GCSE's.
• You live with your Mum and your younger sister, (S/N), and she is 12 and is in year 8.
• Your parents are split up but you see your Dad about twice a month for a few days.
• Which kinda sucks because your Dad isn't that great. Your Mum left him because he was involved in some criminal activity and had pretty bad anger issues.
• You lived in a crappy little apartment with him and your Mum up until you were 4, when your Mum found out she was pregnant with your sister.
• She couldn't stand living with your Dad anymore - especially with a new child on the way - and moved into a big house from the money she had in her savings account.
• He's not all that bad but he did used to scare you a lot and was definitely a bad influence. You're glad your sister doesn't feel an emotional connection with him.
• Your Mum is a doctor at the local hospital and is very good at her job. She likes helping people but she has to work long hours quite often and therefore isn't always home for dinner or has to leave before breakfast.
• There's several spare bedrooms in your massive house and one is specially dedicated to medical use. Occasionally, she'll have a patient who doesn't need to be in hospital but is still unfit to go home and they'll stay at your house. It is equipped with the fancy machines that hospitals use with a stash of medicines.
Background for Zane:
• You are 19 and you've just finished your A-levels.
• You are Jay's older half-sister - you share the same biological Dad but not the same mother.
• Your Mum never told you much about your Dad - she only said that he was a flirt and had relationships often. He never cheated on anyone, but broke up with them abruptly before quickly finding a new partner.
• Your Mum reckoned it was because the true love of his life, Jay's Mother, died/ left him (I don't know what happened) and he used other women to try to get over her but it never worked. NOTE: he dated your Mum before Jay's Mum.
• He had met up with you a few times discreetly after school but your Mum, despite feeling somewhat sympathetic towards him, refused to let him see you otherwise.
• This didn't displease you because he was a bit stuck-up and egotistical. However, he sent cheques to your Mum to help raise you but you don't think she ever cashed them in. They were just collecting into a pile in a hallway cabinet draw.
• You heard about Jay from your father when he caught you after school. He told you about Jay and how he doesn't know him but knows where he could be found.
• You met with Jay at the Junkyard and kept in contact. Naturally, you weren't as close as most siblings, but you got on well with each other and bonded over the few years you've known each other. Even your Mum kinda sees him as a son, despite not having a blood relation to him.
• You don't know Jay's a ninja, yet.
• Your Mum has a crush on a guy called Darren or something who runs a dojo.
• Your Mum works as a children's councillor and one of the kids Dareth is training had some issues so she visited him during training to make sure his behavioural problems were improving.
Background for Kai:
• You are 18 and have just finished your A-level exams. Now all you have to do is wait for your results.
• You live with both of your parents and your 14 year old brother, (B/N), in a house on the outskirts of New Ninjago City.
• You work at the till in one of Ninjago's most praised fashion shops in Ninjago Mall. It's really frustrating because most of the customers are bitchy and annoying but admittedly, it's exciting to see all of these interesting characters.
• The company you work for is particularly popular because of the professional tailoring services you offer. You don't work in that field but sometimes you are asked to assist them or deliver the products to the buyer's house.
• Your Dad works as a chef in a casual diner in the heart of New Ninjago City. It is often very busy - especially for an informal family-friendly establishment.
• Your Mum is the manager of an all-purpose studio in a village on the other side of the city. It's mostly used for dance and musical performances but there's an occasional drama production.
• There's this one guy called Lou or something who is constantly renting out one of the theatre rooms for his singing/dancing quartet to practice in. Your Mum insists on him using a perfectly functional practice room but he only accepts the big stages. He's so over-dramatic - maybe he should consider acting as a new hobby.
• (B/N) is studying for his GCSE's, which, as a great older sister, you have to help him with when it comes to homework. He's quite mature for his age and doesn't really need babysitting but he's lively and fun to be around, despite his constant complaining.
British School System
Nursery/ Pre-school: ages 2-4
Primary School: ages 4-11
Secondary School: ages 11-18
Sixth Form: ages 16-18
At Secondary/ High School, you take GCSE exams for about 10 subjects when you are 15/16. After them, you can stay onto sixth form which is part of a high school but not necessarily the one you previously studied at. You do 2 to 4 subjects at this standard. Sometimes, you go to different high schools to do different lessons.
At GCSE level, you have to take:
• Maths
• English language and literature
• Triple/ Combined science
• A language
• Geography or History
• P.E is compulsory but you don't have to study it
• Social Studies/ Citizenship (things about the world)
And then fill in the other 2/3 subjects with either:
• Geography/ History (opposite of before)
• A different language
• Drama
• Art
• Music
• Business
• Religious Studies
• Computing
• Food Technology
• Textiles
• Physical Education (P.E)
• Engineering
If you choose combined science, you have to pick 3 other lessons.
If you choose separate science, you have to pick 2 other lessons.
At A-level, you can take:
□ You have to take general studies (politics, ethics, literature, language, culture, science, technology and mathematics)
□ And from 3 to 5 subjects:
• Any GCSE subject(s) you have taken
• Psychology
• Neurology
• Law
• Medicine
• Electronics
• Further Mathematics
• Ancient History
• Classical Civilisation
• Economics
• Archaeology
• Citizenship
• Environmental Science
• Government and Politics
• History of Art
• Sociology
• Architecture
You can only take certain subjects at a-level if you've done certain subjects at GCSE but I'm going to ignore that rule for now.
