Whats Going On?

~~~~(Katie's POV)~~~~
I woke up to my head lying on something muscular, but soft. My head was moving up and down, as if someone was breathing. I finally opened my eyes to see that someone was next to me. My eyes trailed up from the chest to the face of the culprit. I then noticed that I was laying on Heisuke's chest!
My gaze stayed glued to his face. He looked so peaceful sleeping, his face almost looks childish. I giggle at the thought, then I remembered yesterday's events. After confessing to Heisuke, I didn't want to be alone so he stayed with me.
I got up and decided to gather the clothes that I will be wearing today. I found a kimono already laid out for me by the door. Hmm, must have been Mikki. This kimono was black, purple, and white.
"Hmm," I heard Heisuke groan from the futon. I turn around to see him open his eyes and search the mat where I was at. He sat up in alarm, but calmed down when he saw me staring at him by the door.
"Good morning Heisuke," he yawned then replied,
"Morning beautiful," I blushed from him calling me beautiful. I told Heisuke that I was going to get ready, and I'm on my way to the washroom. Once I was there, there was already a drawn bath filled with warm water.
Once I was clean, I got out and got dressed in the kimono. With the help of Mikki, my hair was down, with some curls and bangs pulled back in a braid. Once I was presentable, I began to walk around the temple thinking about what Akira said.
What does she mean that the demon blade is closer than you think? Is it here in the temple or in a cave somewhere? I was brought out of my thoughts to severe coughing. I stopped in my tracks by the edge of the main temple wall, when I heard someone speak.
"Damn," it was Souji! I peek around the corner to see Souji leaned over with something in his hand. Is that...blood! I gasped and quickly hid behind the wall, just as Souji looked my way. "I know you're there, come out."
I sighed and walked out from my hiding spot. Souji didn't look happy but I truly didn't mean to ease drop. I was merely walking by until I heard coughing.
"What were you doing just now?" Souji asked annoyed.
"I was just passing by until I heard coughing." I stated honestly. He didn't look convinced. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, just go back to whatever it was your doing." He waved me off and turn to walk in the other direction. I just stay frozen in my spot. Well he's ignorant. I walked to the main hall when I noticed many men laid out on the floor with bandages as if they just come back from war.
"Get more water and rags, get the village Doctor, and hurry we have more coming!" Saizo ordered. More coming? What does he mean by that? What happened to all these men! "Princess you shouldn't be here."
"Why, Saizo what's going on? What happened?" I threw questions at him as he tried to lead me out of the room.
"It's none of your concern." Once I was out of the room he shut the door leaving me speechless. I can still hear Saizo give orders from behind the paper wall-like door. Why won't he let me help? I have experience with first aid.
I heard the pounding of feet rushing down the hall, as if there's a herd of elephants running. I looked up to see Hajime, Heisuke, and Kortaro. They looked like they had urgent news but past by me as if I was a ghost.
Why are they ignoring me? Have I done something wrong? They are keeping something from me, but what is it? I began wandering down the halls until I bumped into someone. I look down to see that I ran into Mikki.
"Oh Mikki, I'm sorry I didn't see you there. Are you alright?"
"Yes Katie, I'm fine." She said. I reached my hand down to help her up. She gathered up what looks like medical supplies, that fell to the floor. I got curious and asked her,
"Mikki, do you know what's going on around here? Everyone is acting strange and there are men who are injured in the main hall." She replied quicker than normal.
"Excuse me princess Katie," she bowed and took off towards the main hall. What's going on here? I will confront them at dinner. I continue my trek back outside for some fresh air. Once I'm outside, I wander around until I came to that hill with the lonely tree.
I took a deep breath as I stand there thinking. Where could the demon blade possibly be? No matter where I go, it's closer than you think, that's what Akira said. But the thing is, what did she mean closer than you think?
I'm brought out of my thoughts from an explosion in the distance. I look up to see a cloud of smoke from the south. My feet have a mind of their own as I am walking towards the cause of disruption.
As I walk, my mind goes blank as fog plagues the empty space. The sound of swords clashing, battle cries, and explosions grow louder. My body keeps moving in its trance, not caring what goes on around me.
"Princess?!" I hear a shocked and panicked voice yell out. I keep on walking though, what seems to be a battle of some sort. My instincts lead me here for a reason, and I'm determined to find out why.
"Katie! Get out of my way!" I hear a different voice shout. An explosion appears behind me stopping those who were trying to reach me. A dark voice chuckles as if he's won a prize.
"Well if it isn't the royal highness herself." All the commotion stops as monster tromps before me.
"Stay away from her!" Another voice shouts. The Oni raises his hand and brings it towards the soldiers behind me. I didn't even flinch.
"Quiet you worthless humans. I don't need to waste my time with you, now that what I came for waltzed into my clutches." The oni said reaching down for me. Suddenly a strange burning feeling blossomed in my chest.
I can't explain this unfamiliar feeling. The burning sensation grew more intense in my chest, a bright gold aurora outlines my body. My eyes stayed glued to the giant sized monster. When I looked at his face I knew instantly who it was, Jinoskue.
His skin grey like stone, but textured as lizard skin. Black horns on his head, and long razor claws. Long flowing ghostly white hair, yellow eyes, and an ancient orange-red kimono. As Jinoskue reached for me, his hand stopped as if a barrier was there.
"What? What is this sorcery!" Jinoskue said annoyed.
"Leave." My voice quiet. I don't know what came over me, but soon my body began to levitate off the ground. "Queen Cornilia, daughter of King Mitsuhide was arranged to be married to Jinoskue. She was devastated and wandered the streets and met a boy from the states. They fell in love and ran away together, leaving no trace. Years later a baby girl was born and the family was attacked. Queen Cornilia died protecting her daughter from the hands of Jinoskue and Ayakashis. The demon blade was hidden in a far away place where no man or demon would even look." My voice doesn't even sound me when I speak. It's as if a spirit has possessed my body and is telling the people the truth.
"I'll destroy you and the human race, the demon blade will be mine and I will become king of the demon realm!" Jinoskue yells angrily before summoning a ball of energy heading straight for me. I didn't move or flinch as it was too late.
"Katie!" I hear Sasuke yell in panic.
****************
~~~~(Narrator POV)~~~~
When the energy ball hit Katie, nothing but a cloud of smoke filled everyone's line of sight. The smoke was heavy and thick. The soldiers waved the smoke away in an attempt to see what had happened to the princess and what damage the blast had caused.

Jinoskue stood tall and proud as though he has won. The Shinsengumi, Goemon, and Sasuke stood there frozen waiting. Through the smoke, a bright light was seen and not just any light. It was Katie who was still levitating, not a scratch on her.

"Princess," Toshizo and Sanosuke said in unison, just as Sasuke said, "Katie." They were shocked to see her still standing, not acting her usual self. Katie ever so slowly turned to her fellow soldiers and they just stared at her.

Her body glowed as the yellow aurora outlined her body. Her eyes no longer purple-pink, but a yellow, and her voice was totally different. She just stared at them not speaking a single word. She turned around to face Jinoskue as he spoke to her.

"How is this possible, you should have been injured." He stated not very satisfied.

"You joining powers with an Oni will not make you stronger, it will only be the cause to your downfall." Katie said. Jinoskue looked taken back.

"What did you say?! How dare you insult the king of the demon realm!" Jinoskue yells in anger.

"No! You are not the king of the demon realm. I am the princess of the demon realm and Japan!" Katie retorts. Jinoskue angered by her outburst went to strike with another energy attack.

Just as it was coming in close, Katie's necklace began to glow a bright purple. She held her hand up and easily dispersed the attack. Her action reversed the attack, making Jinoskue the target instead.

"I'll be back." Jinoskue said in a deathly tone. He retreated back to mount Hiroshima. The Ayakashis followed and left the others in silence. Katie just stayed there in the the air until those villainous demons were out of sight.

Sasuke, Goemon, and the Shinsengumi slowly moved closer to her. The glow began to fade away as her eyes closed. She began to fall and the others called out to her.

"Princess!" Shinpachi and Sanosuke shout in unison. Sasuke caught her just in time and stared down at her. Her long dark eyelashes lay against her angelic skin. Her breathing normal as if whatever just happened to her, never even happened.

"We need to get back to the temple. The village Doctor can check to make sure she's alright and help our wounded." Toshizo spoke aloud after an intense silence. No one spoke after that and Sasuke stood up with Katie in his arms bridal style.

"Hopefully when she wakes up, she can give us answers as to what the hell just happened." Goemon said casually with his arms behind his head. And just like that, they all head back to the Shinobi temple with wounded on portable gurneys made of sticks and vines. Not knowing that a few Ayakashis were tailing them in the trees out of range, waiting to strike.

I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, I will update Quileute Princess soon. Graduation was yesterday, and was an important and busy day for my friends and I. Updates will also be a bit slow as I'm working two jobs this summer. The picture is of Katie when she is in that yellow glow with glowing eyes.
