Prologue:

~Several Years Ago: Kai is five & Nya is a new born~

Kai wakes up with a start when he hears a loud crash from down stairs. He slowly gets out of bed and peeks out his door. No one. He tip toes down the hall. "Mommy? Daddy?" He whispers into the night. When he reaches the bottom of the stairs, a horrific sight meets him. His mother lay dead on the floor, the blood drained out of her. He looks up with wide eyes to see a man in a black over coat. His pale skin vibrant in the moonlit room and his black hair reaches his shoulders. His blood red glowing eyes meet with Kai's own dark brown ones. "VAMPIRE..." Kai says with wide, fearful eyes as he steps back.

The vampire lunges at the five year old human boy. "KAI!" A mans voice calls out as the vampire grabs a hold of Kai and holds him to his chest, turning around to face his father. "DADDY!" Kai calls out to his father. In the vampires heist to catch Kai, he knocked over a candle and the house was now going up in flames.

"Put him down Elisa!" Kai's father calls while holding a katana with symbols inscribed into the blade. "Now why should I, Vampire hunter?" The blood thirsty beast asks. "He has no part in this! Leave him be!" The man calls. "Oh, but he has everything to do with this!" The vampire says before sinking his fangs in the young boys neck. Kai struggles against his attacker, but it's no use & soon, his eyes droop as he watches his father run to them in a desperate attempt to save his son.

The vampire drops Kai before killing his father and then running out of the building and into the night.

~Present Day~

Kai pulls a sword out of the forage and looks at it with a smile before dipping it in some water to cool. He looks in the mirror on the wall. Pale skin. He frowns. His eyes. They are still dark drown, but they have a pale red glow as well. He glares at his reflection. A fledgling vampire. That's what he'll be until he drinks human blood directly from a living person.

He sighs and gets back to work. Nya walks in behind him. "Why do you insist on working all night?" She asks as she leans against the door frame in her all black outfit. He smiles slightly. His deer little sister, who has no clue that her brother is a monster.

She throws a bundle of black fabric at him and he catches it. "We have patrol tonight so get cracking." She says and walks out. He sighs. "A vampire hunter who's secretly a vampire? How.... Ironic." He says with down cast eyes in the empty room. He walks to his room to change before meeting his sister on the roof.

"Took you long enough!" Nya whispers to him with a smug smile. "Not as long as you take. Seriously, why do girls take so long again?" He says with his own smug smirk. The siblings laugh quietly and nudge each other before getting serious and taking off to another roof top. When they reach the outskirts of the village they head out and move through the tall wild grass in the night. Kai stops, his vampiric hearing allowing him to hear foot steps to far for his human sister to hear. "Stop." He says and puts an arm in front of her. "I hear foot steps." He says and slowly moves toward the sound. He reaches the road leading from their village to another. Nya comes up behind her elder brother when they see an old man slowly walking across the path. The man dresses in all white with a bamboo staff, a straw hat, and a long white beard. Kai can smell that he's human. "Go on ahead, I'll deal with him." Kai says to her and she nods before taking off.

Kai hops out and in front of the man. What a moron! Everyone on this side of the Ash Moutians knows this place is infested with vampires! Kai thinks to himself. "Yo, dumb old man! What are you doing out at night?! Don't you know there are vampires around these parts?!" Kai yells to him. The man smiles. "I could ask you the same thing boy." Kai shakes his head, now believing that this man must be mental. "I'm a hunter, it's my job to be out here!" Kai says and the man walks by him. "Oh, I see." He says and walks right for the village.

Kai fallows him looking completely annoyed. The man heads for the siblings blacksmith shop, Four Weapons. "Why are you here?" Kai asks him. "To find someone special." The old man answers. Kai let's him I in the shop if only to get him off the streets. "How are you going to find someone special in a weapons shop?" Kai asks and the man slowly shakes his head.

The man looks around the shop when Nya shows up. "Still dealing with the old man?" She asks her brother. "Yeah, he's looking for someone special in a weapons shop...." Kai answers looking beyond annoyed. Nya giggles at her brother's dismay. Kai notices and glares at her with a growl which only makes her laugh more.

When they hear a mother and busting ground they run out to see a giant truck with skeleton people on it. "What are they?!" Nya asks in shock. "I don't know, and I don't care! I just know.... That they're going down!" Kai shouts and runs at a skeleton with one of his katanas.

Kai and Nya end up fighting the new foe, but more keep coming! The man comes out using spin jitsu. Kai ends up fighting the four armed leader and holds up a good fight until he manages to knock Kai off his feet with a thrown dagger and knocked the water tower over. The giant construction falls toward the young slayer just as the man spin jitsus over and saves Kai. "Thanks, but your still a dumb old man." Kai says to him with a smile of gratitude.

"Lord Garmadon says to grab the girl!" The leader says after getting back in the truck. A giant hand shaped bony claw of sorts is shot out and grabs Nya. "Ah!" She let's out in shock as she can't move her arms to get free. The claw returns to the truck on it's chain and Nya struggles to get free. "KAI!" She screams in her desperation for help. "NYA!" He calls as he races after the truck that disappears into the night, suddenly wishing he was a full fledged vamp since fledglings like himself can only run at human speeds.

The man comes up behind him. "We can get your sister back." He says, stroking his beard. "How?!" Kai screeches out as he turns to look at the old man. "They go where we cannot, the Underworld." The man explains. "That was Samukai and his army... And if they are carrying out orders from Lord Garmadon, then I fear the worst." He finishes and Kai looks confused. "Lord Garmadon? The Underworld? What's going on?!" Kai asks.

The man sighs. "Long ago, Ninjago was created by the first spin jitsu master using the four elements, ice, earth, fire, and lightning. He had four weapons to harness these vary elements, the shirikins of ice, the syth of quakes, the sword of fire, and the nun chucks off lightning. He also had two sons, but the eldest held darkness in his heart. He wanted the weapons for himself and his name? Lord Garmadon. His younger brother knew he had to do something, so he his the weapons across the land, and in case of his own demise, made a map for an honest man to hide." The man looks to Kai who is now perched on a rock. "Your father was the honest man, and if I don't find those weapons before Lord Garmadon, then I fear a grave evil will be unleashed."

Kai hops off his rock with a look of realization. "Your the younger brother." He says and the man nods. "If you want your sister back, let me train you in the art of the ninja, teach you spin jitsu, and help me find the weapons before he does. Save your sister Kai, requires saving the world as well." The man explains. "I'll do it." Kai says, looking determined.

~Time skip to after they cross the Ash Mountains into the rest of Ninjago and are at the monestary~

Kai walks into the monestary with Wu (the old man). "How do you expect me to fight in a place of peace?" Kai asks as he looks up to glare at the sun as it saps away his energy & strength. "Not fight, train." Wu says and flips over a dragon small statue then presses a red button underneath, causing the training course to pop up.

Kai's eyes go wide. "Woh!" He says. "Finish the course before I finish my tea and then you will be ready for spin jitsu." Says then goes around to drink his tea. Kai doesn't even start yet when he finishes and stands up. "Today you have failed, tomorrow we will try again." He says before going inside. Kai's eye twitches. "I have never wanted to kill a human more then I do right now...." He mutters under his breath.

Latter that night, Kai goes on the course to practice in his element, the night. Once he feels like he's done good, he sees the sun rising and smiles. "I'll show that dumb old man!" He says in determination.

When it's time for the course, Kai gets nervous. He knows he can do it more then fast enough in the night, but in the day? That's a whole other story!

~Begin montage of Kai's epic night time victories & epic day time fails~

Finally, today is the day! Kai in nervous. He goes through the course as fast as he can and finishes just before We can finish his tea. Wu huffs. "Go work, we will finish in the morning." He says before disappearing into the building again.

That night, Kai lays awake, trying to train himself to sleep at night. He fails epically, so he decides to play around with his senses. Throwing out his aura sensing abilities every fifteen minuets for five minutes at a time. As he does this he shuffles through his wardrobe. "Where is it?" He mutters when one of the sensing 'nets' catches the auras of three others. Kai keeps pretending to be oblivious. Two humans and..... I don't know what the third one is! Kai thinks to himself.

He hears them land on the ground from the ceiling with his vampiric hearing. The one closes to him has the heaviest foot falls, the farthest has the lightest foot falls, and the middle has.... Metallic? Foot falls.

He let's them get closer before spinning around and getting into a fighting stance. The three in black ninja gi's back up. They weren't expecting him to know they were there!

Kai grabs his twin katanas from the wardrobe and gets ready to fight. The closest with the heavy feet goes first while holding a syth. Next the middle one with shirikens. Kai fights and kicks the third one holding nun chucks into the wall.

The four end up on the roof next. They fight until they end up on the ground where Kai turns on the training course. The three attackers have problems finding their way around the equipment in the dark, but Kai having grown up hunting vamps all night and the bonus of his vampiric eyes, can see just fine and enjoys letting the course beat them up for him.

Soon enough, Wu comes out and stops them. "STOP!" He yells and they all race to stand in front of him on the steps. "Yes Sensei." The three suited up attackers say with a bow. "OK, what's going on around here you dumb old man?!" Kai asks, now annoyed.

The three ninja glare at Kai for insulting their sensei. Wu shakes his head. "These are my students. They will help us get your sister back." Wu explains. "You have a sister?" The one to the right of the one to his right says with what Kai could only call the most annoying voice ever. "Dude!" Kai shouts his way. "Is she cute?" He asks this time. "Back off man!" Kai says, wanting him dead now.
