There's No Place Like Home

Owen had been given the clear to leave the hospital and after spending a couple of days at the hotel, everyone agreed it was time to go home. Back to Isla Nublar. Keira's mind was on helping Owen heal while everyone else know what it meant to be going back. The wedding was back in motion. They arrived and Keira helped Owen bring things back into the Bungalow.

"Home sweet home." Owen said sitting down and rubbing the arms of his recliner. Keira was rummaging in the background when he looked over.

"Don't start working!" Owen said. "We just got home!"

"We've been gone for quite awhile." Keira pointed out.

"What do you plan on doing?" he asked.

"I plan on letting you stay here and rest and just scan over the sanctuary.

"Unbelievable, first fifteen minutes home and you're ready for rounds." he said. "You are so troublesome." he said with a short chuckle.

"I love you too." she said kissing him on the cheek. "I'll be back." she said heading outside. Owen rested his head back when she suddenly popped her head back in. "Rest."

He gave her a sideways glance. "I do what I want." he mumbled crossing his arms.

Keira headed out to the plains. She wouldn't be there long, she just had to see the herds. She knew if she entered the plains, she'd be there for hours. Instead she just rested outside of the gate watching them. Dino whined and barked.

"Sorry buddy, we'll go in later on. This was just a quick check in." Eve turned her head in the distance and let out a call. It was almost like she was welcoming them back.

"I'll see you tomorrow Eve!" she yelled.

Owen sat on the couch looking around. He never did well sitting in silence as he tapped his foot against the floor and tapped his fingers along his leg.

"Just rest." he said to himself. "Close your eyes...take a load off Grady."

He closed his eyes and sat in silence.

"Nope, can't do it." he arose to his feet and headed out the door.

Keira arrived back to the Bungalow after checking in with her parents and her soon-to-be in-laws. She walked in and saw Owen had moved from the couch. She figured he had gone to bed but as she walked into the bedroom she found it empty.

She sighed. "He really doesn't listen." she said.

Barry was working on a few loose screws in the paddock when he heard the walkway gate open and Owen walked in.

"Hey!" Barry said walking over and hugging him lightly to avoid hurting his bad side. "I didn't expect to see you out here. Surprised Keira didn't have you home lying in bed."

"Well I..."

"She doesn't know you're here does she?"

"She'll figure it out soon enough. She's a smarty pants."

"True. But you know I can't let you do anything with them." he said looking down to the three that had ran over at the sound of Owen's voice.

"I just wanted to see them." he said. "I missed my babies!" he said dramatically.

Blue snorted.

"Thanks Blue." he said dryly. "Thanks a lot."

The night settled in as Owen tossed the three a few rats.

"So much for making them work for it." Keira's voice said. He held the rat in his hand.

"You should have seen them earlier, I'm just trying to reward them for working so hard."

"Right." Keira said sitting beside him. "You should be resting."

"You should known better than to leave me alone.' he countered.

"Touche'." She rested her head on his good shoulder and he placed his head on top of hers.

"You know what?" he said.

"Hmm?"

"We're getting married in a couple of days." he said.

"Where did I hear that before?" Keira joked.

"Oh no, nothing is going to stop it this time. I'm marrying you in two days missy, and that's final." he said. "The only thing that can stop it, is a comet hitting this Earth and that's not going to happen."

The two looked at each other.

"Knock on wood." he said before leaning back and rapping his knuckles on the wooden platform. "Just to be safe."

"Good call."

Owen stood before the mirror as his mother worked on finishing the final touches to his suit. He straightened the cuff of his shirt slowly and then fixed the jacket.

"You look so handsome. You look like your father on our wedding day."

Owen looked at himself in the mirror. "Tomorrow's the day."

"Are you nervous?"

"Nervous? Me? Nooo." he said.

His mother gave him a look.

"Okay, so maybe a little."

"That's nothing to be ashamed of." she said before sitting down. "What's got you nervous?"

"I dunno Ma," he placed his hands into the pockets of his slacks. "I want to marry her, I love her, she's perfect, perfect to me in every way possible...but..." he stopped.

"But you feel like you aren't good enough for her?"

Owen was quiet. Patricia chuckled.

"Oh Owen, sweetie, that's perfectly normal. You know your father felt the same way before we got married, he actually asked me if I was sure I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him and there I stood before him, getting ready to ask him the same question."

He smiled.

"It just shows how much you care about her Owen, that you are willing to sacrifice your own happiness to make sure she's happy. If you both keep doing that, you'll have a happy and long marriage."

"Thanks Mom."

She stood up before him grabbing his face. "You're a great man Owen with a big heart and Keira is a wonderful woman. You two are meant for each other. Have confidence in that." She kissed his forehead before hugging him.
