Rumpus
Owen and Keira were sitting in front of the laptop talking with Ellie as she went over the wedding preparations she had taken care of.
"Does that sound good, sweetheart?" Ellie asked looking to Keira but she didn't respond. Owen glanced over and saw Keira resting her chin in her hand and looking off into the distance.
"Sweetheart?" Ellie said, she looked to Owen with a worried expression.
"Hey Ellie, we'll call you back in a few, alright?" he said.
Ellie nodded before Owen closed the laptop. Keira didn't seem to notice until Owen sat in front of her. She sat back quickly and saw the laptop was closed. She avoided his gaze which was demanding answers.
"Sorry." she mumbled.
"I don't want an apology, I want to know what's going on up here." he said pressing his index finger gently to her forehead. "You should be happy, Jack's off the island and the dinosaurs are healthy."
She locked eyes with him. "I don't think it was Jack."
Owen just sat there flabbergasted by his fiancee's newest statement.
"But Keira, you heard Claire, he worked for a pharmaceutical company that produced the drugs we found in Loki."
"I know but-"
"I understand he probably got to you with the sad little story but he could have just pulled that out of his ass to deter you. You were the one who was hot on his case."
"But what if I was wrong?"
"Keira it had to be him, there have been no more incidents since he left the island."
She looked down to her hands in her lap. "If I was right, why do I feel so wrong?" she asked him softly.
Owen arose from his chair and knelt down in front of her. "Because you have a big heart." he told her. "I think you always want to see the good in people. You saw it in Dr. Henry and perhaps there is some good in that old man, but no good came from having him on the island."
"I guess so." she took a deep breath.
"Keira that man was bad to Tabone."
She busted into giggles. "You have been waiting to use that one for awhile haven't you?"
"Maybe. Now your mother is all worked up so can we just get this over with?" he said with a smile.
"Bring it on, we have a wedding to plan."
"Chief's getting married at the end of summer!" Doug congratulated Keira as they were out in the plains one afternoon clapping her on the back. Keira stumbled forward slightly. "Sorry." Doug said.
"Thanks." she chuckled.
"Any word of who the best man is?"
"Sorry Doug, I think you were beat out Barry."
"That's cool, do you still need a maid of honour?"
She turned to him.
"What? I could pull off a dress and you know it."
Workers piled into the raptor paddock nervously to place up the divider to separate Yang from the others. Owen frowned looking down to the three who were in their restraints with the people around. The divider was placed up and secured within a couple of hours. Owen grabbed Yang and brought him to the other side. The two females watched in silence before Owen released him. Barry released the other two.
The three examined the new barrier inside their paddock. They could still see each other and vocalized a few chirps back and forth before Blue walked off. Barry turned to Owen with a thumbs up.
"Alright, we just need you to sign off Owen." Michelle said after she arrived with a clipboard in hand. Owen took the pen and clipboard in his hands when suddenly the three began screeching. The group jumped to see the three of them squawking including Yang.
"The hell is wrong with you guys?! Hey!" Owen said but they drowned him out.
Lowery walked in from lunch to see Keira at one of the computers looking over camera footage.
"You okay there?" he asked. He saw Jack on one of the screens standing at the Plains gate looking out at the dinosaurs.
"You know he was fired right?" Lowery joked. "You don't need anymore incriminating evidence against him."
Keira paused the video before spinning in her chair.
"I looked in Jack Tabone further, it's true about his wife. She was a vet, she passed away of breast cancer before Jack came here."
"Every villain has a sad story Keira." Lowery said. "It's like the rules."
"The thought that he could be innocent just won't leave my head Lowery."
"But there hasn't been any-"
"I know! But what if they are just lying low right now?"
"I think you've watched too much Scooby Doo as a kid."
Keira looked back to the screen. "I don't think we're in the clear yet."
Yang climbed the divider partially.
"Jesus! They're freaking out!" Owen said. "They were doing fine."
"We can't place them back together until they settle down."
"Everyone clear out." Owen ordered.
The workers scattered quickly before just leaving the two men. But instead of carrying on, the three settled. Yang jumped down and continued about his way.
Owen looked over to Blue, her gaze was locked on the gate before she slowly craned her neck and looked up at him.
"What?" he asked in a low voice to her. "What are you trying to tell me Blue?"
Keira stood beside the truck as Zach got out with a clipboard in hand.
"Alright, take your final count." Keira instructed him. He peered into the windows and began counting the microceratus.
"Five." he said.
"Record it down."
He did as he was told.
"Now, open one door at a time. They may dart out the minute you open the door and that's okay, don't freak out." she told him. "And if they don't come right out, that's alright, this is all very new to them."
Zach nodded before going to open the door. Keira walked over quickly and moved him so he wasn't standing in the line of fire.
"Always stand to the side, unless you want the dinosaurs to walk all over you." she said.
"Right." he took a deep breath and opened one door. None of the microceratus jumped out.
"Now the other." she told him. He opened the other door but they remained.
She grabbed his arm gently and pulled him a bit from the truck so that he was facing the back.
"Now call to them, assure them that it's okay."
Zach looked to the little five. "Come on guys, look it's your new home. You can feel the sun, and run around all you want."
One of the braver ones began walking down the ramp cautiously. "That's it buddy, you can do it. Come on."
Keira smiled as one by one the little dinosaurs stepped off the truck ramp and waddled over towards Zach.
"Now stand to the side." she said.
Zach moved over allowing the five to take in their new surroundings. One of them let out a small call.
Off in the distance the call was returned alerting the five.
"That's their herd." Keira smiled. Zach looked over at her before the little ones took off into the plains.
Keira walked over to Zach's side as he watched the dinosaurs run.
"You did good Zach."
"I'm gonna miss them." Zach admitted.
"I know, this is one of the toughest parts but you will get to see them every time you come here and they'll never forget you. They just have to learn from their kind now."
