Keira awoke the next morning to the smell of delicious bacon tickling her nose. She sat up in bed before seeing Owen was up already. She grabbed her robe and threw it on before walking out in the kitchen to see Owen cooking on the stove with Dino by his side praying he would drop something to the floor.

"Morning." she said alerting the two males that she was awake.

"Morning." Owen greeted before Dino trotted over and began his morning routine of wagging and licks. Owen lowered the heat on the stove before walking over. 'Sleep well?" he asked after kissing her forehead.

"Yeah, I did, actually. Thank you."

"Good. I made breakfast." he said pointing to the table.

"I see that." she giggled to see the stacks of food from eggs, pancakes, waffles, toast, jams and jellies all spread out on the table.

"I have the bacon coming right up."

"What time did you get up to make all this?" she asked.

"Uh the sun came up and I was up." he shrugged.

"Chef Grady, you have truly outdone yourself again."

"I try."

After filling up on the Grady Grand Slam Breakfast, the two sat on the couch to relax. She leaned into his side reading as he ran his hand over her hair watching the Costa Rican news channel.

"Hey, look." he said. She glanced up from her book to see the sanctuary was on the news channel as they showed footage from the web cams they ran throughout the park for people to see from all over the world. The news showed children in classrooms watching the video footage of baby dinosaurs roaming in the nursery and out in the plains.

Their pictures showed up on the t.v. as they stood with the President of the United States.

"I wish I knew what they were saying." Keira said.

"Yeah, we really ought to learn some Spanish." He arose and grabbed the laptop sitting back down beside her. They pulled off a basic Spanish lesson off of Google and spent the afternoon attempting to learn some of the language.

"I think we would be better off learning to speak raptor." Owen said closing the laptop.

Keira let out a screech and he turned to her with his arms tucked to his chest.

Keira's heart swelled with warmth as he approached her acting like a raptor. It reminded her of the date where he took her into the Bamboo Forest. Where they shared their first kiss. Memories that she would cherish forever.

Ellie sat at the computer pulling up the sanctuary website, it was the only thing that gave her a peace of mind when Keira didn't answer her phone or skype calls. But whenever she looked at the cameras she could see her daughter was pretty busy.

Alan came in and saw his wife watching Keira who was recording down the weight of a small dinosaur on a scale.

"You're gonna drive yourself nuts watching her like that."

"Oh like you don't do it." Ellie said.

"Not as much as you do."

Ellie sighed. " I was just washing the dishes and I got a bad feeling. "

"She looks fine to me."

"I guess I just miss her is all. I love hearing her laugh or just listening to her talk about her day no matter how much it stresses me out."

"I know Ellie, I miss her too but she's living her life right now."

Ellie grew silent as Keira hoisted up the baby dinosaur and bringing it back to the others but suddenly, the dinosaur began using the bathroom causing Keira to screech as her shirt was soaked.

"Ah parenthood, not much different even with dinosaurs."

Keira was with Zach in the hatchery when her radio went off.

"Keira, there's a reported dinosaur down in carnivore territory." one of the workers said.

Keira stood up. "Really?"

"Yeah, by the east gate."

"Alright, I'm on my way."

She looked to Zach. "I have to head to the carnivore territory, you don't have to come. I understand." she said.

"No," Zach said, "I'll go." he said.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah." he nodded.

Zach took a deep breath between Keira's race car driving and heading into carnivore territory he felt a little sick to his stomach.

"Breathe Mitchell." Keira said. "I won't let anything happen to you."

"Thanks."

"Your aunt would never let me hear the end of it."

"Hey!"

"I'm just kidding, she loves you."

"Apparently, she's the only one who does in my family."

She glance over at him. "What do you mean?"

"My whole family was trying to get rid of me, but no one will listen to me. Only my friends did."

"Your friends get you into trouble?"

He was quiet.

"Why'd you get kicked out?" Keira asked.

"This stupid kid Brandon was talking about my family so I gave him what he deserved."

"And why was he talking about your family?"

"It's a small town. Everyone knows everyone and everyone knows my parents are having marital problems."

Keira bit her lower lip.

"I thought they would be fine when Gray and I made it back from here but it was only temporary. Two weeks later and they were back at each other's throats."

"Zach, sometimes even when two people love each other it's not meant to be."

"I think they just stayed together because they got stuck with me and then with Gray."

"Don't talk like that Zach, they didn't get stuck with you. They were lucky to have you. Despite you getting in trouble at school, you're a good kid. You're a great worker here and your brother Gray adores you, that counts for something."

When they arrived, Keira took a gun out from the back of the vehicle. Zach swallowed. She looked at him and then to the gun.

"Well, we can't be too careful." she said. They roamed around until they came upon the dead dinosaur.

"What kind is that?" he asked staying close to her.

"It's a suchomimus." she told him. "I'm a little surprised to see it this far back from the river." she said.

Zach's eyes scanned over the dinosaur. "There's no wounds." he told her.

"You're right." she said kneeling down by the dinosaur's head pushing it's mouth open as she rested the gun on the dinosaur. "It hasn't been dead for too long either by the looks of it."

"It's just like the stegosaurus, isn't it?"

"It appears so but they figured it was an enlarged heart, that isn't something you can just catch. Normally, it's caused by disease or it's congenital."

"What's that?"

"It means you're born with it. But with our genetics improving, I don't see how we can have heart failures spiking now." She shook her head cursing. "We're going have to call in another autopsy."

She went for her radio but they heard rumbling near them. She grabbed Zach's arm and pulled quickly as they hid in some brush.

"Stay still and quiet." she whispered. She clenched her jaw when she saw she had left the gun.

It was too late to make a run for it when a metriacanthosaurus came on scene. It walked over eyeing the dead body. It sniffed it before taking a bite into it.

Zach looked away as the dinosaur dug into the deceased. He shook slightly only thinking of the Indominus Rex. He felt Keira's hand grab his, she gave him a reassuring look. Suddenly, her radio went off.

"Keira? Are you out there?! Have you found it?!" the loud voice rang through.

"Shit." Keira said grabbing it and lowering it but it was too late as they had captured the metriacanthosaurus's attention. It walked over to where they were and sniffed over the brush before letting out a loud roar.

"Run!" Keira said, they headed off splitting into two different directions as the metriacanthosaurus's had gone straight down for a strike.

"Go to the gate!" she told him before heading towards the bloody carcass and grabbing the gun. Zach turned over his shoulder a few times to see Keira catching up. The metriacanthosaurus had slammed it's head into the ground disorienting it a bit before it turned and gave chase.

Zach turned back around and came to a screeching halt to see another metriacanthosaurus in his path. Keira caught up to him.

"Now what do we do?"

"Stay really still and hold onto me." she said. The other metriacanthosaurus closed in on each other. The first one approached the two but the other one let out a roar. The other one growled before roaring in return.

"What are they doing?" Zach whispered.

"They're not the smartest of carnivores." she told him. The first metriacanthosaurus went in to attack the other one.

"Now's our chance. Run!" she said leaving the battling dinosaurs.

They reached the gate and and ran out. Keira closed it and the two fell to the ground.

"Holy shit." Zach said trying to catch his breath.

"Look at this way, it's kinda like being in high school isn't it?"

Zach laughed before resting back with his hands over his chest.
