Chapter 3- Cold

I woke up when I felt something touch me. I tried to lift my head but couldn't. I couldn't move I was sick from being left out in the rain. When they picked me up and carry me when I passed out. I woke up when I heard someone talking.

"Yuki sweetie are you okay?" I heard the king ask. I shook my head when he picked me up. He froze when he seen how limp my body was.

"She's freezing why didn't you pick her up when you seen her?" He demanded.

"What's the big deal she found her way back. Besides I was out with Ren." He said, when I started shivering the king wrapped me up in his coat and picked up my dress he looked disgusted.

"Even her dress is soaked how could you be so irresponsible so you could go out drinking with you brother now poor little Yuki has to pay the price." He yelled angrily. I started whining when he tightened his grip. He immediately loosened his grip.

"I'm sorry sweetie I wasn't thinking." He apologized hugging me. My head started hurting. I nuzzled up against him whining. He petted me. When I looked at Daichi he froze realizing how small I really was. He reached out and petted me.

"Now let's get her home before she gets even more sick." The king said, carrying me. I fell asleep in the kings arms.

I woke up when I felt warm water. I whimpered.

"Its okay sweetie we got to get warmed up." I heard a woman say. I squirmed. When I looked up I realized it was the kings wife. She scrubbed me. I yelped.

"I'm sorry baby girl." She said, picking me up. She wrapped me up and dried me off. Then she carried me into the room. She laid down me in the bed and covered me up. As soon as she left. I felt someone lay down beside me pulling me into their arms and kiss my head. I fell asleep.

The queen nursed me back to health. It took three days for me to start feeling better. The queen was so nurturing and mothering. She wouldn't let me out of her sight till she knew I was better and even then she kept an eye on me. She was so sweet. I swear there's not a mean bone in that woman's body. We became very close when I was sick. In fact it got to the point I started calling her mom. The king even checked on me a lot while I was sick. I started calling him dad he loved it. When I was feeling better he took me for a walk through the garden.

"Sweetie I brought you here so I could teach you sword fighting I want you to be able to defend yourself." He said, handing me back my sword he gave me. The blade was even engraved.

"Well the kitsune who gave me her power was very powerful and old. I got all her knowledge and she was thousands of years old. She was an excellent fighter so I should be really good." I said, I never talk about her so it felt weird being open about her. "Her name was Ichigo. She was the only thing I had to a mother. Since my real mother was a queen so she was always busy. So she was always the one taking care of me. Ichigo could never have children but she always wanted a child of her own. My mother grew up with her, she was like her older sister. They were best friends. So that's why she gave her life so I could live mine." I exclaimed.

He froze in shock when he realized what I said.

"Wait what do you mean?" He asked.

"I've never talk to anyone about it. So you have to promise me this stays between us." I said, letting out a deep breath.

"I promise." He replied.

"I wasn't born a kitsune I was born a human. But when I was born I had a disease. They said I'd be lucky to if I got to see my 15th birthday. So the kitsune that raised me gave her life so I could live my. But to do so she had to give me her kitsune power and knowledge which turned me into a kitsune."I said, he stopped.

"So your a human child now that makes sense. Do your parents know?" He questioned.

"No my fathers a king himself. So I can never go back home." I replied, when he grabbed my shoulder.

"Your fathers a king?" He asked.

"Ya." I answered.

"You wouldn't happen to be King Kazuki's missing daughter would you?" He questioned, I nodded. He sighed.

"So that explains why he's been killing kitsunes. You know your fathers the one who started this war because he thinks your dead." He said, I was over come with guilt.

"He's been killing kitsunes?" I questioned.

"Yes because he thinks that kitsune killed you so now he's out for blood. He's been hunting down all the kitunes." He said, tears seeped from my eyes.

"Oh daddy what have I done this is all my fault." I said, burying my face in my hands.

"Yuki this isn't your fault you didn't know. You were just trying to protect your parents. But you have to promise me you wouldn't tell anyone else. We can't have this getting out." He said, I nodded and he hugged me till I stopped crying. Then he started training me to sword fight and as I said I was quiet good at it.

"Your speed and flexibility are amazing I've never fought someone as fast as you. You'll be an excellent samurai in no time." He exclaimed his voice was full of pride.

"Isn't it forbidden for a woman to become a samurai?" I asked swinging my sword. He could barely keep up with me.

"There are female ninjas so why not a female samurai. Besides your really good it would be a waste." He said, as our swords clashed.

"True point taken. Plus I love sword fighting." I smiled, as I jumped over him. He spun around right as I swung my sword blocking it.

"Plus your so nimble and well balanced it's almost impossible to knock you down, that's good. Never hesitate. Hesitating will get you killed." He said, as I knocked his sword out of his hands. He smiled.

"Okay you win this match. Your small frame is why your so nimble." He said, and I cocked my head at him questioningly.

"Okay let me explain because your torso, legs, and arms are so thin your much more flexible. Your small petite body make it easier for you to take advantage over someone taller and bigger then you. Plus your long legs make it easier for you to move around." He smirked. I nodded. He's really good at observation. He walked over and picked up his sword.

"So what's the deal with Ren and Daichi?" I asked. He sighed.

"Well Daichi's the eldest but he refuses to be king so he left the throne to Ren which is the one your engaged to. Daichi decided he wanted to be general instead his fiance doesn't agree with his decision but he's too stubborn to listen. Ren's not much better he's a hard head. He's always been hard to figure out and he never takes anything serious. His whole life he's had everything just handed to him and he never listens to a word I say. That's why I picked you Yuki. Your kind, sweet, and gentle. I'm hoping if he spends time with you he'll settle down and stop fooling around with all these young women. I always wonder what I did wrong with him. At least his brothers nice and a gentleman. But Ren's the complete opposite he's cold and cruel. I sorry I know I'm asking a lot from you Yuki and I apologize." He said, looking down.

"I'll do my best." I replied, he looked up at me and smiled.

"I knew you would say that your such a good girl my Yuki." He patted my head when I heard Daichi.

"Dad mom wants you." He walked over. He nodded and left. Daichi looked over at me. I put my sword away.

"So he was teaching you sword fighting?" He asked, I nodded.

"Mind if I give it a try?" He asked, I smiled. I whipped my sword out.

"Only if you can keep up." I teased. I swung at him. He blocked it with his arm lucky he was wearing armor. I jumped up and kicked him. He grabbed my leg. He was really strong.

"Are you sure you're the human?" I asked jokingly. He laughed. I fell when he let go. I got up and ran at him our swords clashed over and over. When I realized we had an audience. His brother was there with the two girls from the other day.

"Don't get distracted." He warned me. I pulled my hair up in a pony tail and pulled my fox tails out. When I noticed Ren was watching me more intently.

"Sorry wouldn't happen again." I said, running at him and sliding under him before he could swing. He looked around when I lifted him up off the ground and body slammed him.

"Damn you're a lot stronger than you look. That really hurt." He groaned when I smiled and lended him my hand. He smiled and took it. I pulled him up to his feet.

"That's what you get for challenging a nine tailed kitsune." I teased.

"Well I had fun your really strong. Lets dual again some other time." He replied.

"Definitely." I answered. He chuckled and we put our swords away. Then I turned to leave.

"Where you off to?" He asked. I shrugged.

"Don't know guess I'll find out when I get there." I said, turning back to him.

"Come on I can't have you getting lost again." He sighed.

"You sure? I don't want to be trouble." I asked, he shook his head. When I heard one of the girls whisper.

"Great a tag along." I ignored her.

"Ya come on it'll be fun." He said, I nodded.

I followed them, they left me in the back while they talked. I swear those girls never shut up. I rolled my eyes as they clung to the boys and laughed. They were very flirty and really rude. I just kept to myself.
