I am just writing this story out  of my interest and have no intent of any copyright infringement. Also  this is one of those self insert fanfics.

I  heard this screeching sound like my ears are gone like they show in  those movies and TV shows. Honestly, it was more painful than how it is  represented there. Well lets come to the point shall we? So, I somehow  managed to open my eyes as the ringing of my ears subsided and well  there she was.

"Sir! Sir! Wake up! Wake up!" she said as she kept shaking me.

"Nina?" I asked. Clearly I was starstruck looking at Nina Dobrev there.

I  rubbed my eyes and could not actually believe it. Then now I was sure  that I must be dreaming. So, I was like "Otha! dei! Enthiri da!  Enthiri!" and I started slapping myself in both my cheeks.

Meanwhile  Nina Dobrev was still there looking at me like I was a crazy person.  So, well she was still there. This must mean only one thing. I am so not  dreaming. But then I am not a very intelligent character. So, I started  panicking and breathing hard. So, she looked me in the eye and said,  "Sir, I need you to calm down and tell me your name". Ok, that was it. I  could feel this intense feeling to obey her in every bone of my body.  It was like I was compelled to be calm. Um, compelled. So, I became calm  and then it dawned on me. She is a vampire. Like the ones in her show  The Vampire Diaries.

So, she asked me to tell her my name. Not my  real name though. So, I figured I can tell her the first name that came  in my mind. So, I replied, "John. John Durairaj. You can call me JD  though".

Then she became sad and got teary eyes and started  crying. Well, now I wasn't exactly great at talking with humans and now I  have to talk with a vampire. A sad, crying vampire. But then, yes, I  said the most non-offensive thing that came to my mind. "Excuse me  ma'am. I am sorry if it is something I said".

"Sorry. It is just that I had an uncle named John who died. Hearing his name brought back some memories." She said.

I tried to console her and said "I am so sorry for your loss".

She was sobbing for may be a whole minute and then she said "Elena. My name is Elena Gilbert."

Now  things made some sort of sense for me. I was with the good baby vampire  Elena Gilbert. Now I had to figure out which season Elena she was. She  was surely not from the first 3 seasons. Also she still has her humanity  switch on. Because otherwise I would be dead. Also while she looked  kind of tense, she was still in control. Also she had a small beautiful  ring on her right hand with a blue pearl. Obviously it was her daylight  ring. This would enable me to take her anywhere if needed during  daytime. Then I asked her, "Well, Elena, do you know where we are?".

Now,  I looked around. To our back may be some 5 feet away was a big hole  with some long ass leaves kind of thing and the whole place was charred.  Like there must have been a huge fire or something. And then there was  my bag. Next to me. All this time I never noticed it. Right, no  surprises there. I am an absent minded person. Then Elena replied. "No, I  don't. I just woke up here along with you and now I am very hungry."

Well  hearing that I visibly jerked. Then anyhoo I decided, she is not the  type of vampire that unnecessarily killed people. So, I decided to tell  her the truth. Oh not everything, because I don't know everything. So, I  swallowed and said, " Listen, Elena, I need to tell you something. I  know what you are." Well after hearing this, obviously her eyes widened.  But I continued. "I know that you are a vampire and you just now  compelled me to be calm and tell my name. And I also know you are a good  person otherwise you could have easily killed me just now. Just don't  compel me to forget about your secret or something, I'll not tell a soul  about your stuff. Now, how I know it is a completely different story  and to talk about it, we need to get out of this place. Now, you said,  you were hungry, so as a show of good faith, here" and then I showed her  my right arm wrist.

Well, she was obviously still processing all  the info I told her and then she started feeding on me. Well, at first,  it was obviously like someone pierced my skin with 5 sharp needles. Then  when I felt like I would almost fall unconscious, she stopped and then  looked at me with a bit of blood still dripping from her mouth and then  she smiled. "Thank You and sorry I kind of overfed" she said.

"No  issues Elena. Now you have to heal me. I can't exactly go with this mark  on my hand. People will assume I have rabies or something!" I said as I  showed her my right hand wrist which obviously looked like I was bitten  by a dog. Then she bit her wrist and fed me her blood and the bite  wound healed. then I took my black bag but it was a bit too heavy for me  but I wore it and Elena took hers which was a beautiful pink bag.

"This place looks a bit familiar right?" asked Elena.

I  looked around as we got up and started walking. There was something  similar to the lockers that they show in those American and British high  school TV shows/movies. I'll never know because there were no personal  lockers in my school. "Yes, it looks familiar. A bit too familiar. But I  can't exactly place it." I said as I cursed at my forgetfulness. Then  in some time, we were out of the place and as we looked back, we saw a  blackened decapitated building which looked like it was almost out of  those 80s/90s Hollywood horror movies. But then, it was a sunny day.

After  we came out of the place, we decided to ask someone about the place.  But everything looked way too old. Like 90's early 00's old. Also, there  was nearly no one to be found. Then just across us, there was a tall  man with spectacles was just walking by. Elena just went over to him and  I followed her. "Hi Sir, we are kind of lost. Can you tell us where we  are?" she asked.

"Well miss, you are in Sunnydale, California" he replied.

Elena was kind of shocked and exclaimed "California!?".

Me on the other hand recognized the man and offered a handshake and said, "I am John and nice to meet you".

He replied in his distinctly British accent and said, "Rupert Giles and nice to meet you too.."

"Mr. Giles, just a small help before you go, can you tell us today's date?" I asked him.

"January 19,2001" he said. I thanked him and he was on his way.

"We have to follow Giles" Elena said to my surprise.

"So, you recognized him?" I asked her.

" Duh! That man is Buffy's watcher and we are in the universe of Buffy: The vampire slayer".

"Wait  what?" I asked her clearly in shock. Then it struck me. There was  something peculiar about the date. "Also today is Buffy's birthday and  we are apparently in Season 5 of Buffy" I told Elena clearly proud of my  Buffy knowledge.

"And we clearly know Buffy's birthday is kind of  like one of the worst days in this universe" Elena added and then she  continued. "Let's follow Giles and see where that leads us".

And the fun just keeps on coming

A/N1:  Well this is my first fanfic and let me know how it is and how I can  improve it. Also, the name JD is inspired from the Tamil movie  Master(2021). "Otha! dei! Enthiri da!
