Afterward (And Acknowledgements of Who Created Who)

Well, creating this story was interesting. Unlike most people who are fans of the Arkham games, I never really played the video games. I never really got the luxury of having video game consoles like the Xbox or the PlayStation growing up as a kid. The only video game console I ever had when I was a kid was a Nintendo DS Lite. So you'll have to forgive me for not being the biggest fan of the Arkham video games. But that doesn't mean I don't think it's cool. I've seen the cutscenes on YouTube, including those game over screens. I've even seen Batman Assault on Arkham, so acknowledging the movie's existence was cool. The fact that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill went out of their way to reprise their roles as Batman and Joker respectively was what made the games awesome.

But I need to nitpick Arkham Knight. I HATED the romance between Tim and Barbara in the game. There was no build-up towards their relationship, it came out of left field, and I feel it was forced and unnecessary. More forced and unnecessary than Hulk and Black Widow's romantic subplot in Avengers Age of Ultron. A Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon romance I can tolerate, especially if it's written well. But a romance between Tim and Barbara? What the fuck, Rocksteady Studios?!?!?!? I know I'm one to talk since I have weirder ships for Barbara, (you know, Robin Warner, Kevin Beaumont, and Spider-Man) but mine aren't as forced as the romantic subplot in Arkham Knight. Another thing I hated was the ending. The idea of Batman being unmasked to the public, and he fakes his death really punches the boulder. For those who do not know what "punch the boulder" means, it's video game slang. It's the video game equivalent to Jumping the Shark and nuking the fridge, and if you get what those mean, then you are as intellectually cultured as I am. So yeah, I don't know what Rocksteady was thinking with that ending.

Anyway, what inspired this story? Well, it all started when I did a roleplay with @HarleyQueen51 on Instagram. In it, a doppelganger of Batman saved Harley from dying of a Titan Infection caused by intercourse with a dying Joker. I know, pretty weird. So I thought, what if Nightwing saved Harley instead of a doppelganger of Batman? I always wanted to try a HarleyWing story. And so, this story was created. The Suicide Squad subplot was a result of writer's block and wondering what to write next. Also, Wolfman Middle School is a reference to Marv Wolfman, a DC Comics writer best known for writing the Teen Titans comic books of the 80's, turning Dick Grayson into Nightwing. Anyway, thanks for reading my novel. And now, onto acknowledging the comic book creators.
