LANA had been dropped off where the councilwoman was to be picked up from her flight. She looked around for the real woman and smirked when she was nowhere in sight. Maria had told her that she had taken care of the woman and Lana assumed she had been kidnapped.
A car pulled up and she was greeted by a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. She got into the car and prepared for the role she was about to play. The car pulled up to the Triskelion and she got out seeing Pierce waiting for her with some other Council members.
He made small talk as they walked, "And how was your flight?"
"Lovely," she replied in a British accent, like Councilwoman Hawley, "The ride from the airport, less so."
"Sadly S.H.I.E.LD. can't control everything," Pierce replied, "Including Captain America."
They stopped as a man handed him a briefcase, "This facility is biometrically controlled. And these will give you unrestricted access." Lana took one into her hands as he passed the others around. She pinned it to her clothes.
They entered the elevator and rode up to the conference room. They all stood around with champagne as Pierce gave his speech, "I know the road hasn't exactly been smooth and some of you would have gladly kicked me out of the car along the way," Lana mentally snorted knowing she would have, "Finally we're here. And the world should be grateful.
He raised his glass in a toast and the others followed, sipping the champagne before Steve's voice came over the PA system, "Attention all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, this is Steve Rogers." A small smirk pulled at her lips at Pierce's expression.
Pierce slowly brought the glass from his lips in anger, "You've heard a lot about me over the last few days. Some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I think it's time you know the truth. S.H.I.E.L.D. is not what we thought it was. It's been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader."
The Council looked at Pierce and as he put his flute down, his face didn't show any denial, "The S.T.R.I.K.E. and Insight crew are HYDRA as well. I don't know how many more, but I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you."
Pierce pulled a device out of his inside jacket pocket and looked at it, ignoring the Council as Steve continued, "They almost have what they want. Absolute control. They shot Nick Fury. And it won't end there. If you launch those helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way."
"Unless we stop them, "Steve said, "I know I'm asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not."
"You smug son of a bitch," Rockwell said. HYDRA agents filtered into the room.
"Arrest him," Singh ordered. An agent pulled out a gun.
"I guess I've got the floor," Pierce smirked.
The screen behind his head flashed with an angry OVERRIDE. Lana waited for her time to reveal herself as Pierce walked over to the window. Outside one of the helicarriers were firing at something in the sky.
Pierce turned back to them, "Let me ask you a question," he walked over to the table and picked up a flute What if Pakistan marched in Mumbai tomorrow and you knew that they were going to drag your daughters into a soccer stadium for execution," he handed Singh the flute which he took, "And you could just stop it with a flick of a switch. Wouldn't you?"
Lana looked between them, "Wouldn't you all?" Pierce asked.
"Not if it was your switch," Singh responded and threw the flute. It shattered upon impact with the ground. She thought the whole thing was a bit dramatic. Pierce chuckled and the agent got out his gun once more, handing it to him. Lana watched carefully.
Pierce held the gun to Singh and was about to shoot before Lana kicked him out of the way. She grabbed Pierce's hand, which held the gun and punched him in the face. She threw an electric disc at an agent and it made him spasm in pain.
She twisted Pierce's arm, throwing the gun at an agent. Turning and elbowing another in the throat.
She kneed another and threw him into the ground, which cracked from the force of her strength.
As an agent came she grabbed his neck and hit his head on the table.
She took on another and kicked him into the wall. He fell unconscious as he slumped to the ground.
Lana picked up a forgotten gun and pointed it at Pierce who was still trying to recover from her punch. She clicked at the mask allowing it to deactivate.
"I'm sorry," she pulled it away along with the wig, letting her strawberry hair flow, and smirked at him, "Did I step on your moment?"
She handed the gun to the other Councilman, Yen, and walked over to the stand where everything was controlled from and started typing away.
"What are you doing?" Rockwell asked.
"She's disabling security protocols and dumping all the secrets onto the Internet," Pierce answered.
"Including HYDRA's."
"And S.H.I.E.L.D.'s," Pierce replied, "If you do this none of your past is gonna remain hidden," She looked at him and looked back at the screen, "Are you sure you're ready for the world to see you as you really are?"
She looked up once more and smirked, "Yes. Are you?" The main screen popped up with RESTRICTED ACCESS.
"Disabling the encryption is an executive order. It takes two Alpha Level members," Pierce looked at her.
"Don't worry. Company's coming," Lana smirked. Helicopter noise was heard and they looked outside as it landed. Fury walked through the doors and Pierce grimaced.
