2. A Day To Remember

Two years later...

Zion Dawsey stepped into his company building. His P.A., Michael was already next to him, catching up to his pace.

"You have a meeting at ten, an appointment at eleven thirty and then another meeting with the crew of the east side. Then at four fifty you have to leave for Tenakis." Zion halted in his step. There has never been a day where he's not remembered he had to leave for another town.

But this week was not a normal week. He's waited two years for this day. Just so he could feed this stupid curiosity of his. This deal of hers better be good, he thought as he turned to a wide eyed Michael.

"Cancel my flight for today. Tomorrow I will tell you when to book another one. For now, make sure my schedule is clear of any appointments at tree forty-five." He smirked secretly as they stepped into the elevator.

He has for sure not forgotten about her. It was hard to do so, considering her success in building an own company and causing many of his clients and business colleagues to turn a curious eye. Zion himself had to look twice upon realizing who that new chic was that had the media so smitten.

But she asked him for an appointment two years ago. And even though her success was quite impressive, he was not about to show it. In fact, she was going to think he forgot about her. He was still the bigger and wealthier CEO when it came to a comparison. But there was no doubt they'll be head on head in a few years. And for now, he was going to enjoy having the upper hand.

.

Zion glanced at his wrist watch and stood up from his seat behind the desk. He turned to look out of the window behind him and looked down onto the busy streets. It was raining, but the people here loved rain, so did he. He wondered if she loved rain as his eyes roamed the streets for any signs of her.

He was starting to doubt her, even though she still had ten minutes. Maybe she forgot about today? He knew average people too well to not consider that option. Not everbody could be as gifted as Zion, which he often seemed to forget. Yet, he kept standing where he was, looking down his window.

It was unusual for him to wait for someone. In fact, he couldn't remember a moment he waited for someone like her. Someone irrelevant and normal. Well that was new, he thought to himself as another minute passed.

But maybe that was exactly what she wanted. Maybe that was the first step of showing him that she was indeed wearing the pants in their acquaintance. Zion frowned. Maybe he should not stand by his window if that were the case. Because she'd probably see him and his plan of acting nonchalant would be ruined.

So he stepped away from the window and sat back down on his seat with a huff. She was good, he noted. Not so average after all. But what if he was just overthinking again? Damn it! Zion stood up and paced his office.

She was not even in this room, but managed to fog his mind. How was he going to keep his cool once she was in his office? Looking at him with those big brown eyes, full of life and youth. And her brown hair that used to go past her shoulder. Now, as he's recently discovered when reading the local papers, she had cut her hair and bleached it at the tips.

It suited her and the simple thought of complimenting her made Zion clench his jaw. Hell would freeze over before he'd compliment anybody. Damned woman, where even was she?

Zion dared not look out of the window now. It was almost time for their appointment, so he gathered all his thoughts, took a deep breath and sat down behind his mahogany desk again. Then he crossed his arms in front of him and closed his eyes.

She better hurry, for his patience was never capable of holding great weight.

Author's note: I was thinking about Matthew Daddario as Zion.

Thoughts?
