.: Twenty-Three's P.o.V. :.
"So... uhm..." Twenty-Three blushed, it was like music to her ears that Mono said that. Her heart was bursting out of her chest and her lips still buzzed when Mono just kissed her. She didn't knew what came to her to just sprout that out, but she got worried when Mono got caught... And what came after that.
She kind-of snapped when she found where those shadow children camped, which was a cave. Got to overhear some silly arguments over how annoying the doll children were before she went out and did some burning and more killing before they all retreated. The wolf was also there and she delt with it too, it suffered some more wounds before she got to trap it in a hole.
Mono tilted his head to the side, "What is it?" He asked softly. Twenty-Three looked away in embarrassment, "W-well... You just said so you liked me... so... does that make us a...." she cleared her throat, "A t-thing now?"
Mono just looked at her before just smirking ever so slighty, cupping her cheek and leaned just a bit close, a centimeter at most. Twenty-Three's breath hitched as she stared back to Mono's olive green eyes.
"Will you be my girlfriend then, Twenty-Three?" He asked softly, by now Twenty-Three was sure she was about to melt into nothing. She gulped down whatever buzzy feeling stirring in her stomach, "O...of course," she mumbled.
Mono smiled and pecked her lips, "Well that does make us a thing then!" He smiled was leaning back, his cheeks having the lightest blush. Twenty-Three just gazed at him before giggling, Mono lowered his smile and rose his eyebrow, "What?"
"Nothing, it's just you look so cute. I haven't seen you act like this before," Twenty-Three grinned, Mono blush deepened and he furrowed his eyebrows, "Uh, no I'm not," he said, trying his best not to look cute, but did the exact opposite.
Twenty-Three couldn't hold in her laughter and giggled some more, Mono frowned but still blushed a bit. Twenty-Three regained her composture and took a deep breath "Sorry, you're not trying to look cute face just made you look cute...er," Twenty-Three grinned.
Mono smirked while rolling his eyes, "Okay, alright I'll stop. You're just teasing me now," he said and Twenty-Three poked his chest, "You do that to me alllllllll the time, and now I have the right to tease you back," she said while pouting.
Mono blushed beetroot red and covered his face, "Stop trying to look so cute!!!" He said. Twenty-Three eyes widened, then she smirked and flipped her hair, "Yeah I know I am, but you are cuter~," she teased while winking at him.
Mono sighed while lowered his hands, then reached out to pat Twenty-Three, "Noooo, you are cuter~," he teased back. Twenty-Three smirked before giggling, "Are we just gonna stay here and debate on who is cuter?"
"That depends if you want to~," Mono teased and Twenty-Three rolled her eyes, "As much as I would love to keep saying you are cute, I think we should better go now before something tries to attack us," she said.
Mono nodded, "Offf course, not that you could actually lose to me from the debate," he said while pulling back his paperbag over his head. Twenty-Three scoffed, "Oh really?"
"Yes, because I know so that you," Mono paused to boop Twenty-Three's nose, making her cross-eyed, "Are cuter," Mono finished and stood up, holding his hand out for Twenty-Three to take.
Twenty-Three accepted his hand and he helped her up, she brushed off the dust off her pants and pouted at him, "You had no right to boop me," she said.
"Oh actually now I do," Mono said and walked on, Twenty-Three tried keeping her pouty face and huffed, "And I can't get even since you wear that paperbag over your head," she mumbled while following behind.
"I find that a good thing," Mono said turning back to her. Twenty-Three rose her hand and poked the middle of his paperbag, "Nevermind - Boop," she smiled and she could feel Mono just staring at her curtly, before sighing, "You'll find a way huh?"
Twenty-Three giggled sneakily, "Hehe yes," she said and Mono chuckled, "C'mon, let's get going. Where are we anyways?" He asked while looking around the surroundings.
Twenty-Three shrugged, "Well obviously we are in a grassy spot in this Forest, but aside from that I don't know," she said as she pushed the bushes aside. The moon peeked through the darkness and caused a dim glow, Twenty-Three brought out her oil lamp and lit the way. She walked on until she saw a thin trail on the ground.
She rose her eyebrow and crouched down, Mono looked at her, "Uh what can you see there?" He asked and Twenty-Three pointed the thin trail, "Does it look like someone dragged something here?" She asked.
Mono crouched down beside her, "Well it does look like that, should we go follow it to where ever it could lead?" He asked and Twenty-Three stood up, lighting the way and saw it went deeper into the woods.
"I guess," she mumbled while walking on, the wind gusted harder and she slightly shivered from the cold. She and Mono followed the light trail until it disappeared to a bush. Twenty-Three pushed the bushes aside and looked over to the other side.
There was a metal cage, it was forced open with some dents on the bars. Twenty-Three blinked, and when she opened her eyes she saw something else. There was also some blood splattered on the ground. The blood was dried and the stench was unbearable.
There was a shiver running down her spine, that same shiver when she used to hurt both the Hunter and the Scientist. With the glow of the oil lamp, it gave a haunting glow and it made Twenty-Three frozen to her place.
There was also someone standing from the gore, she couldn't see them well from the dark, but she knew their back facing hers. She jolted back and felt her back bump on Mono. She blinked again and the figure and most of the blood were gone.
Mono turned to face her, "You okay?"
Twenty-Three gulped down the invisible lump on her throat and nodded, "Yeah," she mumbled, eyeing the surroundings as if she was waiting for that figure to come back, "I'm fine."
Mono stared at her, no doubt had an 'Are You Sure?' Face before nodding slowly and looking back to the cage. He walked on past the cage, Twenty-Three followed behind and looked back to the cage. It must've been a trap and some beast escaped from it.
But what was that blood and ominous figure she saw? Did it had to do something from before?
Twenty-Three put the thoughts on the back of her mind and quickly caught up with Mono. They continued through the foliage, Twenty-Three's ears perked up from that buzzing noise and her nose caught a putrid smell of something rotting.
She looked up and her throat squeezed up in disgust. It was a blood-dried sack filled with dead bodies or rotting limbs and legs, swarmed with flies, there was also tiny maggots wiggling in and out from the meat, making Twenty-Three nauseous. It was like the trap or bait for whatever carnivorous animal out there was hung there for ages.
The stench was truly disgusting, Twenty-Three's head pounded on the smell. She placed a finger on her temples, it was causing a massive headache and the smell and place was oddly familiar - but when or where did she saw this?
The flies buzzing got louder - actually everything got louder. Twenty-Three felt her heart rose up to her throat and she stumbled down, the stench was no help at all as well, but why was she feeling like this all of a sudden?
"Twenty-Three!" Mono gasped as he crouched down beside her and she could feel him looking at her with worry, "Are you okay?"
She tried to answer, but her vision was unfocusing. Her senses were too overwhelming, it was like she had water filling up her lungs and had a hard time breathing too at that. She clawed at her chest as if it could help her be at ease again.
In her mind, a dark metal room flashed in her mind. It had the stench of dried blood like the one the bloody sack. Twenty-Three knew this was that same room she got gruesomely tortured in, the same smell of blood came to her nostrils, no wonder the smell was familiar.
Twenty-Three shook her head and gripped onto Mono's arm, pushing herself up but her legs throbbed like they are really scarred and she just fell again. Mono held on her arm and helped her up, he carefully brought her far from that rancid smelling trap.
When they were far enough Twenty-Three leaned herself on a tree, she could nearly feel the bile in her mouth. She focused on happy thoughts and tried to ease her headache, slowly it did.
She took another shaky breath, Mono placed his hand on her shoulder in a comforting way, "Are you feeling better?" He asked.
Twenty-Three nodded, "Yeah, the smell was just so disgusting it made me dizzy," she mumbled and Mono looked at her, "What happened?" He asked.
Twenty-Three sighed, "I don't know..." she mumbled. Mono tilted his head to the side, "Do you want to rest? You've been through a lot while I was passed out," he suggested.
Twenty-Three managed a weak smile, "Compelling offer, but I'm fine," she said while standing up straighter, "We should keep going," she said.
Mono gave her one last look of concern under that paperbag of his before nodding, "Okay, just let me know if you want to rest," he said as he held her hand.
Twenty-Three nodded as she held on his hand tighter. Mono nodded then walked on, the smoke smell was getting stronger. They continued trekking on until a loud gunshot echoed through the Forest and caused the birds to fly away.
The gunshot was nearby, and the two looked at each other, remembering that crazy Hunter chasing after them. Mono's grip on Twenty-Three's hand tightened as he ran to one of the thicker trees, hiding behind it and pulling Twenty-Three close to him.
Soon there was loud screaming and the two blinked when they realized how familiar it sounded. They both peeked out to see Six and Seven running away while the Janitor - it very surprising to see him - chased after them. His only hand on a sack as he tried to catch them.
"The Janitor is here?" Mono whispered alarmly, Twenty-Three covered his mouth and pointed to the Hunter chasing after them, "Don't let 'em out of your tracks!" He shouted at the Janitor.
"What do you think I'm doing?!" The Janitor rasped while trying to grasp Six but she quickly slipped past his hand. The Hunter cocked his rifle and aimed for Seven, which he quickly dove behind a tree.
Mono pushed Twenty-Three's hand out of his mouth, "What should we do? We can't fight off both of those monsters!" He whispered.
Twenty-Three looked down in thought, she could still hear the gunshots and it caused her heart to beat in a familiar fear. She looked up to the trees, a stupid thought came in her mind, yet it seemed like the only plan possible with less death. "We create a diversion. I got a plan."
==================
.: Six's P.o.V. :.
Six was pretty sure they were going to die.
The Janitor was hard enough, and luck was in her favor for the stout monster had one arm now. But with the Hunter who was shooting at her and Seven simultantiously? Yeah her life really flashed back before her eyes, and most of it was the stupid and embarrassing things she had done in her whole life.
The Hunter once again shot his rifle at her, Six zipped past the trees. She was quite thankful that the place had many places to hide behind when another bullet was fired. Seven jumped to another tree before they started running again.
Suddenly, something whipped past Six's cheek. She paused to think it was a bullet, but she was sure the Hunter was reloading his shot.
"HEY SHORTY, REMEMBER ME?!"
Six looked up to see Twenty-Three perfectly balanced on a tree branch, a stone on her hand. Six could actually cry in relief, but what was Twenty-Three going to do and why in the world is she on the tree?
The Janitor raised his head and sniffed the air before snarling, "Oh I remember you. You cut my arm off!" He roared, "Where are you lil punk?! I will kill you!"
"You idiot!" The Hunter yelled while cocking his gun and aiming for Twenty-Three, and shot the gun. Twenty-Three yelped while hopping down the branch she stood on, gripped on another branch a bit lower from the other, and swung to the next. She manged to land on a thick branch on her feet, she huffed, "Oh that was close," she mumbled.
"Where are you lil runt?!" The Janitor asked, but ended up hitting a tree and shook his head in a daze. The Hunter reloaded his gun, "Stop lookin' for her and get those two! You're not the only one who lost something from her," he growled.
Twenty-Three blinked, "Oh right, the eye. Sorry not sorry mate!" She intimidated the Hunter's accent before hopping down the branch, just a few seconds before the Hunter shot her.
While the Hunter was too busy trying to kill Twenty-Three, and he was surprisingly failing at. Six decided it was best to run, now that the Janitor was making his way to her.
"Six! Over here!" Seven called and she ran up to him, the Janitor was about to scoop her up into the sack but she luckily evaded. They ran until they saw a ledge, they hopped under it. The Janitor wasn't easily fooled, until another figure ran out from the bushes. Six looked at the figure and quickly recognized Mono.
"Oh great finally they showed up," Seven sighed in relief, Six covered his mouth, "Shh!"
"Hey McNoodleArms!" Mono called, the Janitor paused and notched his head to his direction, "You... Oh not him. Good good. I shall take you too!" The Janitor roared while chasing him. Mono ran into the bushes, making the Janitor farther away from them.
"COME BACK HERE!" The Hunter yelled. Six nearly yelped when Twenty-Three hopped on down and went in the crevice beside them, "Hey guys, I see you have trouble," she greeted in a hush tone.
"Let's meet and greet each other when two monsters are not anymore trying to kill us," Six whispered back while looking over the Hunter trying to look for them with his lantern. They all fell silent, it was a few minutes before he started walking away.
Twenty-Three peeked out before turning to them, "Uh yeah that is true," She asked.
"How about Mono?" Seven asked.
"Oh he'll be fine," Twenty-Three waved it off, "I made a plan. He'll join us shortly," she whispered, "I hope so."
"You hope so?"
"Hey look, this plan was the only one I got, what could you have done huh?" Twenty-Three said while crossing her arms.
"Oh so you two have been together all this time huh? What did you guys do?" Six asked. The moonlight was bright enough for them to see, but was a bit dim. Six swore she saw Twenty-Three blushed, "Uhm, answers later," she said while looking over the bushes where Mono had disappeared into.
"Hmmm something is fishy here TT," Seven said.
"Later," Twenty-Three said while carefully crawling out of the ledge. Six rose an eyebrow while turning to Seven and he shrugged before following. The Hunter stood on an open field, still looking around.
"Mono told me there was a bunny burrow nearby that open area... We just have to sneak past the Hunter," Twenty-Three said.
"Well the grasses are tall enough to hide us, let's just stick close together and reach that hole," Six pointed out. Twenty-Three nodded, "Sure, let's just be very careful," she said while holding her hand out. Six held on and Seven held hers. They crouched down and slipped into the grass.
They were making it halfway through until a crow flew, making the Hunter snap to their direction. The three froze still, careful not to make even the slightest movement.
Six's heart was pounding, but she urged to be as low as she can be since her yellow raincoat could give too much attention to them. The Hunter was about to walk a bit closer until a snap echoed into the woods, following some birds flying off.
The Hunter turned to the sound, "Hm, they must've got caught in a net then," he gruffed while walking away quickly to the sound, his rifle at hand. The three took this as a good time to run to the burrow.
Then there was some quick rustles, Six turned back to see Mono running to them past the grassy field, "Hey, there's Mono!" She called not too loudly.
Twenty-Three sighed out, "Thank goodness."
"Hey guys," Mono greeted them once he got closer, "We should get going, the Hunter won't like what he'll see when he checks that trap that set off nearby. All he'll see is the Janitor in a net."
"Sounds great for me, the farther I am here the better," Seven said while walking closer and hopping down the hole. Twenty-Three rolled her eyes while smiling before following. Six smiled, "Feels great to meet you two again. I can't wait to tell you things we've found out, and also the stories you two will tell," she said while wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
Mono froze on Six's little tease and cleared his troat, "U-uh... Okay..." He mumbled before hopping into the burrow.
Six was pretty sure there is something there that wasn't there before and she would have to wait to get that something before the Hunter comes back angrier than before. She remembered those stuffed people and cringed, glad she'll be far from those things before hopping down the burrow.
