.: Six's P.o.V. :.

After escaping from the full of doll children campsite, Six and Seven continued running away until they felt it was safe, which took a long time since some of the doll children foraging spot them and caused another chase. Now the sun was getting low and they were tired from running, the sky glowed a dull orange, slowly setting over the horizon as the sky got darker and darker.

Once they felt they were far enough from their new batch of pursuers, the couple stopped running. Six held on her knees, trying to catch her breath. Seven sighed while sitting down on the ground exhausted. They both took a time to catch their breath, Six inhaled deeply and stood up straighter, inspecting her surroundings.

"Well," she said, breaking the silence, "Seems like we lost them."

Seven nodded, pushing himself up, "Yeah, I really really hope so. Running is so tiring," he said.

There was rustling nearby and the two froze, ready to run away again until Six saw the familiar looking hat poke out the bushes. Three Nomes hopped on out and ran up to them, Seven smiled and crouched down to their level, "Hey guys! Did you follow us?"

The Nomes ran up to once again hug Seven and nodded. Six rose an eyebrow, Nomes will always be friendly to Seven, no matter where they come from. "Well they are quite quick to follow us that far," Six pointed out, the Nomes turned to her and pointed into the dark side of the Forest.

Six blinked and turned to Seven, Seven nodded understandingly, "So you guys used the secret passages," he said and the Nomes nodded again while letting go of Seven. Six spluttered, "Uhm secret what?'

Seven stood up and turned to her, "There are secret passages in some places in this Forest, Arkey actually lead me to one," he explained and Six mouth agape, "Well that is something."

"Yeah, though," Seven trailed off as he turned to the Nomes, "Why did you follow us?"

The Nomes perked up and pulled on Seven's pant leg, one Nome did the same to Six's hand. Seven turned to Six, "I think they want to bring us to someplace," he said. Six nodded, "Sure, if they want to help we should let them, I mean we have idea where to go anyways," she said.

The Nomes perked up and the tops of their hats started moving side to side enthusiastically, Seven chuckled, "Lead the way," he said to the Nomes, the Nomes nodded and walked into the bushes. The two followed behind, keeping up with the quick little creatures.

It was night already so Six had to turn on her lighter and Seven with his flashlight. The Nomes had made it to a cliff, it was too high to even reach the other side, climbing could risk your life. The Nomes walked near the cliff and continued to walk alongside it until they saw a tunnel.

"We're going in there?" Six asked and the Nomes nodded, Seven turned to her, "It could lead to somewhere," he said.

"I hope so," Six mumbled to herself once the Nomes and Seven went in, she followed behind, still a bit doubtful to why the Nomes brought them here.

She lifted her lighter to see a wider veiw, the tunnel seemed to be going up. The Nomes and Seven continued to make their way and Six caught up with them. They made it to the end of the tunnel and went out, Six turned to still see the cliff, but looked less taller from before.

Seven looked around and noticed it too, "Huh, I wonder where this will take us," he mumbled. The Nomes stood far from them and motioned to keep up, and they went to them.

Then the Nomes scattered away, Six rose an eyebrow and pushed the bushes away.

"Nomes."

It was a Nome nest, they all surrounded a fire and huddled up for warmth. Seven's expression was just as same as Six, shocked. The Nomes they followed chittered to their group and the other Nomes stood up, as expected, all ran to hug Seven.

"Woah!" Seven gasped while stumbling down, all the Nomes at tow.

One smaller Nome went to a tent, then went out holding a peice of a sausedge, they handed it to Six. Six rose an eyebrow while crouching down to the Nome's height, "How did you know about my hunger?..." she questioned.

The Nome froze and just pushed the sausedge to her lap before running away. Six furrowed her eyebrows before standing up, holding onto the sausedge. She wasn't that hungry yet, so she could just save it for later... Or...

Whatever, just eat rather than having a horrid hunger strike.

Seven grunted, "Okay guys, you all got your hugs! Can I stand up please?" He said and the Nomes quickly scattered away, Six giggled, "They do like you."

"Of course they do," Seven said while patting one of the Nomes' hat and stood up, "They gave you a sausedge?"

"Uh yeah," Six said while looking down on the sausedge on her hands, "I'm not that hungry... but I'm gonna eat it before a hunger strike happens. Hey we can eat this together," she suggested.

"Uh, it's okay Six," Seven smiled and Six squinted her eyes at him, well he wants the hard way huh. Seven seemed to notice what Six was thinking and pursed his lips, "Oh no."

"Oh yes Seven, you need to eat," Six said sternly. Seven sighed, "I'll be okay Six."

Six pouted, Seven slumped his shoulders, "Not that again."

"Well you love me and you can't fight this pout power, e v e r," Six said while managing to split the sausedge in equal halves and handing one to Seven, "Eat."

"Six-"

"E a t."

"But-"

Six pouted, "Pweeeeaaaase," she said while somehow managing to swipe her bangs to the side so Seven could see her blinking her eyes in a puppy eye effect.

Seven tried to fight it, but of course, it's impossible. He sighed exaperatedly, "Alright," he muttered under his breath and grabbed the other half, taking a bite from it. Six smiled, "Good! This is for your own good too, you know," She said while taking a bite from hers.

The Nomes watched the exchange before walking off to the firepit again, the two also sat with them. The Nomes all huddled up to hug the two, which was very cute.

Six finished her sausedge and patted a Nome's head, she turned to Seven who just finished his sausedge. Another Nome went out a tent and ran for Seven, holding the end of his sleeve and dragging it.

The Nomes suddenly backed up, shifting nervously. Seven tilted his head, "What's wrong?"

The Nome holding Seven's sleeve turned to the tent then to him, Six turned to Seven, "I think it wants to show you something," she said.

Seven nodded, "Well, I guess we go in the tent?" He asked the Nome and the Nome nodded. The other Nomes shifted much more, their hats swaying to many directions.

Seven stood and followed the Nome, Six watched as the Nome went in the tent and went out with a key and a folded peice of paper.

The Nome handed out the two items to Seven, and Seven accepted it debaffled and opened the paper, only to look more perplexed, "Uh, what does this open or do?" He asked while facing the Nome. The Nome did movements of a stomping monster, pointed their neck, pointed the key and paper.

Six tilted her head to the side, "What does that mean," she said, Seven shrugged while turning to her, "Even I can't understand it," he said.

The Nome huffed while pulling down their hat in frustration. They just waved their hand dismissively and went in the tent. Seven blinked before walking back to the firepit, "Well that was weird," he said.

"You tell me," Six said while inching closer, "Can I see the things?" She asked and Seven nodded, handing her the key and folded paper. Six inspected it and saw it was quite thin, looked new and was shiny. She folded open the paper, and it only got numbers: 1 0 3 1 1 9.

"This... this looks like some code... Huh, I wonder what this does," she said while handing back the items to Seven. Seven shrugged while accepting them back and inserting them in the pocket of his jacket, "From how the Nome was depicting it. Probably it is to free someone... or something," he said, remembering the monster stomping movements the Nome did.

"I hope it could help us, whatever it is," Six said, Seven nodded, "Yeah, hopefully," he said.

The moon shone overhead, lighting the Forest. Six gazed at the foliage, and in the corner of her eye she saw something hiding behind the trees. She focused on the figure and saw it peek out from their hiding place, it was a dark with a clear white mask.

Six stood up, Seven turned to her, "Six? What's wrong?"

"Shadow child," she said and the shadow child hiding behind the tree giggled before dispersing into the darkness. The Nomes perked up, suddenly alert to their surroundings. Seven stood up and went beside Six with his flashlight ready, "Where?"

Six observed the surrounding for any sudden movements, she saw the shadow child peek out two trees away from where they were before. Hee faced the shadow child, only for it to disperse.

"It's playing with me," Six frowned, "A horrible game of where's the shadow child."

Oh my, oh my.

They all jolted from the sudden hiss, a loud whisper. It didn't sound like Shadow Six, but still one of a shadow child. Six looked around, "Where are you?" She called.

Hm, I'm everywhere.

There was a giggle behind them and they turned to see more of the shadow children before dispersing. The Nomes were inching closer to the firepit, which was smart since shadow children are weak with light... But probably that fire light would just singe them, but not turn them to dust like Seven's flashlight.

Silly Nomes, would that really save her?

"Who's... her?" Seven asked, a shadow child lunged for them and quickly they dodged, Seven turned on his flashlight and burned the child to dust.

Someone you know. Very much.

There was a squeak and the Nome was being dragged into the darkness by another shadow child. Six grabbed a flaming stick from the firepit and ran to the shadow child, using it to burn the shadow child without harming the Nome.

Six picked up the Nome, "You okay?" She asked and the Nome nodded and hugged Six in thanks.

"What do mean she's familiar?" Six asked while gently placing down the Nome and using the flaming stick to back up the swarming shadow children.

Oh, you'll know once you see her.

But enough of that, let's have some fun!

Another shadow child lunged for Six even if she held a burning stick, she yelped and let go of the stick in surprise, "Six!" Seven shouted while running to them, the shadow child giggled and started choking Six. Seven used his flashlight to burn off the shadow child.

"Are you okay?" Seven asked while helping her up, Six coughed, "Kind of."

The shadow children started lurking behind the trees, their white masks gleaming, seeming like thay were grinning at them. The Nomes stood shivering in fear, backing up from the shadow children.

Suddenly the shadow children all swarmed overhead and lunged for them.

Seven dodged a shadow child's attack and killed it off before it could hurt him. Six felt the shadow children creeping up behind her and she grabbed another burning stick, one slash and made all the shadow children burn from the fire. They wailed before crumbling to dust.

It was easier for Seven, thanks to his flashlight. But Six managed with the burning stick, impaling the shadow children and crumbling them to dust.

Two shadow children crept up behind Six, then swirled around her. Six yelped as she felt them dragging her away, the Nomes squeaked in alarm and tried to pull her back. Seven called her out and went to stop the shadow children restraining her but he got dragged back by another one.

Six tried to break free from the shadow children's grasp, but it was too strong that even the Nomes lost their grasp. She could hear them hissing and giggling, and a whisper.

To the TV.

More shadow children started forming out of the darkness of the night, all trying to drag Six. Six moved around to get free from their grasps, she looked over to see Seven was still busy with other shadow children attacking him simultainously.

Six felt her vision blurring, and her breath turned shallow. She urged herself to snap out of the daze and reach in her pockets, the shadow children hissed when they realized what she was doing. Six pulled out her lighter and turned it on, the warm glow hitting the shadow children and they all crumbled to dust.

She turned to Seven, he had burned one more shadow child. Six turned to her surroundings to see the rest of the shadow children backing up in the darkness, hissing angrily at her.

This is not over. We'll make sure you'll change, soon.

They hissed before disappearing into the darkness. The Nomes looked around and started inspecting the surroundings while the two sighed out relieved and exhausted.

Six wondered what they meant about that... 'change' and about the Nomes trying to save someone she knew.

If only Nomes could talk, they'd probably know.

"Well great, even shadow children as messing with us," Seven mumbled sarcastically, Six chuckled dryly, "Doll and shadow children... Obviously Shadow Six and Doll Twenty-Three has something to do with that."

The Nomes perked up when she said that and nodded, Six turned to them, "That's what happened?"

They nodded again, they felt like they wanted to say something but it only came out as squeaks and chitters with big wild hand gestures. When they realized they couldn't even actually tell what they are talking about, they slumped in defeat.

"Don't worry, I guess you're talking about something in this world," Seven said and the Nomes nodded, bobbing their heads up and down so fast that their hats could fall off.

"What happened?" Six wondered out loud, the Nomes went to speak again but stopped. Sighing in utter defeat that they couldn't talk well.

Seven looked at them with symapthy, since the Nomes looked so eccentric to telling about what happened in this world they are in, but couldn't for they can't talk well.

"How about we find it out ourselves?" Seven suggested, the Nomes and Six turning to him, "What?" Six asked.

"Well, we could finding it out ourselves, solve the mystery. The Nomes know something that might help us," Seven said and one of the Nomes perked up and ran to the nearby bushes and grabbed a twig.

The Nome came back and drew something in the ground. Six took a look and saw the drawing was a long vertical rectangle that resembled a Signal Tower, a lengthwise rectangle, and circle. In the circle it drew a squre near the edge where the lengthwise rectangle stood, and a few spaces from the square it drew an 'x'.

"A map?..."
