Chapter 16
Y/N's POV
A scream escaped from my mouth as I clutched onto Bill's sleeve, hiding my face. I didn't need my ears to know Bill was laughing but by how rapidly his chest moved up and down. "Oh come on, Star, that wasn't even the worst jump scare out of this whole movie."
I glared up at him before smacking his arm causing him to laugh even more, "This is the last time I ever let you pick out a horror film." Did I usually get scared at horror movies? No, but tonight I let Bill choose one that I've never heard of seeing as it was from a different dimension and now that I am watching it for myself the entire film doesn't look fake at all but more of a real documentary of how these people got murdered.
"Come on, it isn't so bad." Bill said as he started poking me. "I mean, if you pay attention to the detail plus seen the other movies made in that dimension this film was actually poorly made."
Poorly made?! The graphics, the screams, the corpses, all of it didn't look like props by Hollywood. It looked like some kid was recording this entire tragic and horrific event. Another jump scare occurred and my whole face was buried behind his arm, not wanting to see more.
I hit him again only causing him to laugh once more. "I hate you so much, this is the last time you pick a movie."
"Do I need to separate you two?" Ford asked as he was sitting on a chair he had brought in from the kitchen to sit and watch the movie with us.
Tonight was finally Halloween and everyone was filled with excitement for it. All of us, except for Ford and Stan, had gone out trick-or-treating in the costumes Mabel and Neal had made. Bill decided to just wear is yellow tailcoat with a top hat, bow tie, and a triangle eyepatch over his scarred eye. I don't care how old any of us are, age doesn't matter when you're trying to have fun and get free candy. I had gotten plenty of (favorite candy) to last me till Christmas if I don't decide to eat all of them in the next few days.
Eventually, Dipper, Bill, and I decided to head back to the shack tired from the night's events. Markus went out with Stan to egg and tp a few houses and Katelyn stuck with the happy couple that is still unknown by Dipper Pines. With her twin brother now gone, Mabel wanted to be around her icey demon and not have to hide the fact that she was head over heels for him.
I look up at Bill and glare at him as he looks over at my dad and shakes his head, "Nah, no need for that, Sixer. Star is just not seeing how great this movie really is." I don't know what exactly he considered "great" but I wouldn't call it this.
Snuggling closer to him I tried to enjoy the movie, I tried to watch it and not become nauseous from the gore. It became really hard by the third kill, a chainsaw slowly cutting through the blonde's neck making it long and painful before the head fell off the body. I nearly screamed, hiding my face in his sleeve. I swear Bill will pay for this because I am not enjoying this one bit. I heard him groan in annoyance as he began to stroke my hair in a soothing motion.
"Y/n, you're being such a scaredy cat right now." I growled at his comment, I'm human and I'm allowed to be afraid of this stuff. I heard Ford clear his throat as he continued to watch the movie seeming completely fine with how realistic it was.
"Hey, I thought I was the cat here." I heard someone say as I turned my head to look towards the hallway to find Katelyn in her cat costume still.
I cocked my eyebrows in confusion, "Weren't you hanging with Neal and Mabel?"
"Yeah but three became a crowd and I didn't want to be a third wheel for the two so I just flead. Get it? Flea, Fled?" she waited for someone to laugh at the pun she tried to make but with no response Katelyn frowned and crossed her arms. "Fine, it appears you guys don't enjoy good puns."
"Oh I do but you don't do them as good as a certain skeleton in a blue hoodie and pink slippers." I said, referring to a video game character from a game I use to watch Jacksepticeye play.
Continuing to hear the screams of bloody murder in the background, I frantically grabbed the remote and paused the movie. Finally taking a relaxed deep breath, I turned to my friend once again and put on a smile. I could see Bill from the corner of my eye shaking his head while grinning, holding back a laugh.
"Okay, so that's actually not the whole reason why I came back. The three of us had ran into Wendy and the gang and after talking for awhile we were planning on going over to Dusk2Dawn. Last time apparently they had a ghost encounter and these ghosts don't do too kindly to teenagers like us. We have a plan though, last time Dipper had done some dance or whatever to calm them before and we think that maybe if he did it again it might calm the undead not to spookify us this time. Might..."
The moment I heard the word "ghost" my smile widened. This is what I have been wanting: to relax and go on a monster hunt and what better time to do it then on Halloween night?! I stood up, escaping the comfort from my demon boyfriend, and ran over to Katelyn. "That sounds like a great idea! Has Dipper agreed to come yet? When are we planning to meet them-- Do we need to bring anything?"
Before she could answer any of my questions, Bill stood up and cut her off, "You're not going, Star."
I turned and faced him, clearly hurt and confused as to why he is not letting me go. "It's Halloween night, it's the perfect night for someone or something to come and attack you."
"Well that's why I'll have you, silly, to come and protect me-"
"I can't," he starts as I cross my arms, now getting annoyed, "I have a meeting to go to tonight and you know the rules. You can't leave this Shack without me. I'm sorry, Star, but I've already made up my mind. You're not going."
My eyes widen in disbelief. I basically stare him down but he doesn't react; he's made up his mind and it is perfectly clear that I'm not allowed to go out and have some fun. I turn towards Ford, surely he'll let me go; he'll see how over protective Bill is being about this and that I can handle myself out there. I mean, this isn't my first rodeo! I've faced off and killed Kaden and I still have the same powers I had used to do so; I can protect myself if something does decide to attack me on this particular night.
I watch him sigh as his jaw tightens, a frown forms on my face. Do none of them trust me? I feel as though they are all against me right now after everything we've been through. I feel...betrayed.
"I'm sorry, Y/n, but I have to agree with Bill on this one. It's already so late and tonight is the perfect night for an attack; all the demon needs is a good disguise and none of us would know they were even here with us until it was too late. Do you understand why we don't want you going out?"
I lower my head as I kind of blocked out Ford's voice while he spoke to me. I didn't want to hear their excuses; they didn't trust me out there alone, end of story. I nodded as Bill walked over to me, Ford quickly heading downstairs to go speak with Dipper. He placed his hand on my chin in an attempt to lift my face up but I only jerked away from him.
He sighs before saying, "I promise I'll make up for this, we can go to that haunted place some other time. Just for now, please, stay here. Sixer and I will be back home shortly and Pinetree will be here the entire time."
I continue to look at the ground with my arms crossed. He sighs once more as he looks behind me. "Goodbye, Kitten. Keep an eye on her while I'm gone."
"Alright...Bye Billie!" K.C. says in an attempt to lighten the mood.
Once Ford returns and I hear the front door shut, I scream my head off before plopping onto the yellow chair. "This isn't fair! I'm not some kid who needs to be babysat, I can handle myself out there!" I yelled as I turned off the tv and made a blanket appear to wrap myself up in.
"So...why don't you just leave?" Katelyn asks.
I narrow my eyes at her, "Because, my dear friend, even if I wanted to disobey Bill, which I most certainly do, I can't leave as long as this dumb bracelet is around my wrist. I've tried using my magic on it but it doesn't work."
I enter BlanketTown as I pull my head underneath the warmth of the blanket. Maybe I'm being childish but it's either this or scream my head off while breaking stuff. Actually, that doesn't sound like a bad ide-
"Okay, hear me out. Your magic is unable to break the curse on it and the one who put the bracelet on you just left. But that same demon also gave a certain golden necklace to a boy who is downstairs practicing spells with said necklace as we speak. Is it possible Dipper could break the spell?"
I jumped out of the seat as my eyes widened. "I'm not sure, I haven't tried asking him yet- but he'd never go against Ford's order. He could honestly care less about Bill."
"Yeah, but wasn't the losers suppose to do whatever we said for the rest of the month? And if I'm correct it is still October 31st for about one more hour."
A smile grew wide on my face, "Katelyn Cooper, you are a genius!"
"I've been told."
I grabbed her wrist as the two of us darted towards the vending machine. We were gonna break out and disobey Bill and Ford. Wow, disobeying my dad and my boyfriend. This seems like a new low for me. I don't care though, I'm about to gain my freedom again.
We entered the living room but with no brunet in sight we decided to check out the kitchen. As I thought, Dipper, no longer wearing his Halloween outfit but instead in his casual clothes and sweatshirt, was in there sitting on the granite countertop trying to read one of Bill's spell books. He had been mumbling some words with an apple in his hand as we stayed at the entrance of the kitchen; blue smoke surrounded the apple and as the two of us watched it fade we saw an orange in it's place. Putting the book down, he got a knife out and cut the orange in half only to not find oranges but still the apple.
He groaned before tossing it over his shoulder where other failed apples/oranges were piled. "Hey, Dip-Dop, spell not working?" I asked as the two of us entered with him jumping up in surprise.
Finding only us, he relaxed and got off the counter. "At this rate I might as well go to the store and just buy more oranges...and apples seeing as I just used the last one."
Katelyn laughed as she walked over to the spell book, she picked it up and began flipping through the pages, "Does Bill know you 'borrowed' his spell books to practice?" Dipper took it out of her hands and placed it inside his sweatshirt. "No and he never has to know." Facing me, he crossed his arms and straightened his position. "What do you two want exactly?"
"We need you to recite a spell so I can get the bracelet off and go to Dusk2Dawn with Katelyn and the others."
His jaw dropped as he immediately shook his head. "No, no way am I doing that! It's too risky. Ford told me to watch you and that's what I'm gonna do. We stay here, end of discussion."
Katelyn laughed as she wrapped an arm around his shoulder, "It's cute that you think you have a choice."
"...What's that suppose to mean?"
"You see that clock over there? It reads 11:09 p.m. That means it is still the month of October meaning you still have to do what we say."
Dipper's eyes widened as he looked over at me. I shrugged my shoulders and smirked, crossing my arms in the process. I could tell he really didn't want to do this, he didn't want to disobey and get into trouble or be the cause of whatever happens while we're out. I need him to do this though, I need to get out of here and be in charge of my own life again.
"Dipper...please, you said you'd be there for me, that you'd help me. You know how miserable I've been being trapped in here and only going out for a short amount of time each week. I can't do this anymore, I can't stay trapped."
He looked at me as I had frowned, lowering my head. I hear him sigh as he gets out of Katelyn's hold. "Alright...I'll try and find a spell that can free you. But if you're going out then I'm coming along just in case, okay? It's already bad enough I'm doing this."
I look up at him and smile, I run up to him and embrace him in a death-grip hug. "Thank you!" I screamed.
He nodded his head before taking the spell book out and flipping through the pages. The seconds turned into minutes and the spell book turned into five different spell books still with no spell that can be found to break me out of my prison. I fidget with the bracelet as I wait as patiently as possible for Dipper to find a spell that can help me while Katelyn has been eating the orange-looking-apples that haven't rotten on the floor yet.
I looked over at the time as I watched the time switch from 11:59 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. "November 1st..." I mumble under my breath. Great, the only thing we had to make sure Dipper did this for us was over as the new month began. I lower my head and stare at the bracelet, I guess we're stuck together. Might as well tell Katelyn to go on without me, it's not fair for her to stay here with me when she's perfectly capable of leaving.
A hand is placed on my shoulder as I turn around to find Dipper smiling, "I think I found something."
"But, the punishment-"
"It doesn't matter if it's over, I told you I'd be here to help you with no matter what problem and that's what I'm gonna do."
I smile up at him as I give him a hug. "Thank you so much."
We cut the lights as we place three candles on the floor to form a triangle, Dipper and I inside of it. I look up at him a bit nervous about this but at the same time I want to get this done. The sooner the better so I don't try to back out. He takes my right hand with both of his as he closes his eyes. The golden triangle attached to the golden chain around his neck turned to navy blue as did the triangle around my bracelet. He nodded his head as his lips became a thin line.
He begins to recite the spell,
"Wklv eudfhohw fkdlqv khu wr rqh sodfh
Uhpryh wklv orfn ri glvjudfh.
Ohw khu eh iuhh djdlq iru wrqljkw
Uhpryh wklv orfn iurp rxu vljkw."
The flames from the candle rises as the bracelet begins to burn me. I scream in pain as Katelyn tries to walk over to me but is stopped by the candles. Fire begins to form on it as little by little the bracelet turns into ash that rises up into the air. Wind surrounds Dipper and I as if we were trapped in our own tornado. The ashes swarm in a circle above our heads before a bright light forms and the three of us are all blinded.
Confused, I stand up seeing that all three of us had collapsed, maybe even passed out. I look at the clock to see it's now 12:21 a.m. I go to touch the bracelet only to not find it there; the spell worked and my chains that kept me to this Shack are gone! I jump on top of Dipper before engulfing him in a giant hug. He laughs at me as I see Katelyn stand up and brush herself off.
"Alright, who knows how much more time we have before Billie and Ford get back. I'll go grab my keys and you text Wendy that we're on our way." K.C. says before leaving to go to her room.
Dipper stands up before helping me to my feet. The three of us get to the top of the Shack and drive off in Katelyn's car ready to experience freedom for the first time in forever.
A/N: Hey Readers! Ariel here, I just wanted to give a big thanks to a very close friend of mine who actually made the spell that Dipper used to get the bracelet off Y/n's wrist. Huge thank you to her because I stink at writing spells and she is amazing at it. I hope you all had a great Monday and I'll see you in the next update!
