Chapter 2: Awakening

-Dean's POV-

I couldn't sleep that night. I had to get out of there and go get a beer or something to clear my head. Thankfully on the way here, I drove by a 24/7 open bar. So I grabbed the car keys and made my way out of the hotel room.

"Where are you going?" Sam asked before I made it to the door.

"I need to go and have a drink Sammy. This night has been kinda crazy and I want to go clear my head. That way, later on in the morning, I know what to do. Or kind of expect" I said and left out the door.

-The Next Morning-

I arrived back at the hotel room to find that Sam was in the shower and the mystery girl still unconscious. I was in a good enough mood to bring back some muffins and a coffee for my dear brother. I guess you could say that a night out drinking till you're (almost) drunk can change the way you feel the next day. My head is less foggy of the situation that had occurred and can think more clearly now.

"Hey Dean is that you?" Sam called out turning off the water.

"Yeah it's me. I brought you some breakfast and coffee in case you haven't had anything" I called back slinking down into the nearby dining chair table.

He walked out with nothing but a towel on and semi-wet hair. The steam made his torso look all slick and shiny. Kind of like one of those wrestlers on TV to make themselves look sweaty and (not at all) sexy.

"Anything new on her yet?" I asked looking at the girl.

"Not a single thing. But she did say one word though" he replied.

"What was that?" I asked seriously.

"Help" was all he said before going back into the bathroom to finish drying off and getting dressed.

Before I could say anything else. I heard a big gasp and intake of air come from behind me. The girl had awakened. She was sat up straight in bed and brought her knees up to her chest. Her hair was covering her face again and looked at me with pure terror. Sam came barging back in the room which only seemed to intensify her shock.

"Whoa! Whoa! It's okay. We're not going to hurt you" I said gently holding my hand up in the air.

That didn't give her any assurance whatsoever.

"W-what a-are y-you?" she stammered through sobs and tears.

"We're just people. Normal, human, people" I replied trying to give her an assuring smile.

"We're people that can help and protect you" Sam added on with his puppy dog eyes.

She looked at us for a minute before she spoke.

"I-I can't be here. I have to g-go" she whispered trying to stand up.

The second her feet hit the ground and put her weight on them, she collapsed in pain to the floor. I went to go help her but she screamed and shoved me away.

"No! Get away from me!" she screamed.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to help you stand back up" I said backing off.

"Why does my ankle hurt?" she asked getting back up onto the bed slowly.

"When we found you last night you sprained it. Along with some cuts, bruises... and a shot wound" Sam explained.

"W-who s-shot me?" she stammered again with tears.

Sam and I looked at each other and knew it wasn't right to lie, but we had no choice in this matter. We had to gain her trust somehow.

"We just found you like that and decided to take care of you" I cut in almost too quickly.

That seemed to calm her down a bit.

"Okay... how long have I been out?" she asked.

"About twelve hours" I replied.

She nodded her head and then laid back down on her side facing away from us. I walked into the other room with Sam and talked with him.

"So what are we gonna do? We can't just keep her around forever. We have missions and other things that are more important" Sam whispered.

"You don't think I know that? I know we can't keep her around but where else is she gonna go? Does she have any family? Is she running away? Is she a hitchhiker? Or is she something that we hunt for a living?" I asked getting irritated.

"Alright Dean calm down. How about we just take care of her until she is able to walk again and then we take it from there?" he suggested.

I nodded and then we walked back out into the room again. She was sat up again, only this time she was in front of the bed on the floor. She was staring blankly into space or something.

"I can't be here" she said.

Sam and I stood in silence and a bit of shock.

"I have to keep moving. You won't understand why" she said again.

"Trust me, there is nothing that can surprise me anymore after all I've seen and experienced" I chuckled awkwardly trying to lighten the energy in the room.

"That's what I thought too until I saw it. A black foggy mass coming after me in my own home" she sobbed.

"What kind of black mass?" Sam asked.

"I don't want to talk about it right now. I'd rather go take a bath or something" she said looking at my brother.

He nodded and then she got up and limped to the bathroom. But before she could exit the room, he stopped her in the doorway with his arm.

"I'm Sam by the way and this is my brother Dean" he said and the gestured to me.

She didn't seem fazed by it and proceeded to walk away. But before she shut the bathroom door behind her, she came out one more time.

"My name is Hannah" she said and then shut the door gently behind her.
