*Jake's Pov*

Me: Wait a minute. Hold the phone. You said your friend is missing?

Tessa made a sad look on her face that mix with concern. Whoever this friend of her is, she seems really worried about them.

Tessa: Yeah...She's been gone for quote a while...

Melody: Whose the name of this friend of yours? How long have she been missing.

Tessa: Her name is Misty Brooks. We go to the same college together and our roomates. You see...we were hitchhiking here to Dustville and we're currently staying here for the week. However, yesterday she went off somewhere to get a couple of items. After that I haven't heard from her since. So far, she's been missing for more than twenty-four hours already.

Melody: Didn't you tried calling her?

Tessa: I have...but ya know...

Melody: Oh...right.

For some reason, phone reception doesn't work well in this desert town. So much for having electronics.

Tessa: Yeah. It sucks. I can't call her...I can't reach out to any of her other friends and family because I was one of the last people to see her...

Me: What about the police?

Tommy: Y-Yeah. I think when we got here. There was a police station not too far away.

Tessa: I tried that too. I asked them to help me find my friend. Give them a testimony, file a missing person report, and everything. However...they rudely brushed me off.

What?

What the hell?

Me: Why the hell would they do that?

Tessa: Exactly! That's what I'm wondering! I asked why won't they help find Misty and here they told me this:

"We got no time to be looking for some runaway teenager. We got better things to do here. Get lost."

Me: Okay. So police are useless then.

Back at home, I have watched documentarys of policemen actually doing their job. But to see these fuckers not giving a shit about a missing person. Usually I thought that only happens in movies.

Looks like Tessa is on her own on this one. It's no wonder she seems very upset.

Tessa: I've been looking all over for her but I can't find anything.

Melody: Do you have a Life360's Locator that could help track her down?

Tommy: Huh? What's that?

Me: Well little brother. It's an Android and GPS-based app that lets one stay connected to their dear ones. However, the catch is that a private group has to be created and people who matter have to be in the group. This app can give real-time location of members in the circle. This app can also help locate lost phones. It could be used to help find family and friends.

Tommy: Ohhh...

Of course Tommy wouldn't know what that is like the rest of us because he's still young.

Such a shame we can't use the GPS to help find our parents.

Tessa: I...could try that out.

It seems like Tessa didn't know she could try that out. Since this Misty is her main concern. According to Tessa, she only been gone for a day. She couldn't have gotten far.

Maybe she's lost...or worst...what if she's been kidnapped...?

It is apparent that young girls around Melody's age, younger or older, get kidnapped nowadays. If that's what also going on this town. I hate to admit it but it seems like I better keep an eye on her to make sure.

Since our parents are gone, She and Tommy are now my responsibility...

And man does that suck...

Tessa: So...I have to look on the GPS for Misty's phone?

Melody: Yeah. I can show you how it works if you're no familiar with it.

Tessa: Really? Thanks! I would like that.

Melody: Okay...So let's see...Tracking a cell phone can help to obtain a lost or stolen device, but it can also be used to find a person of interest or someone who is missing. So just do this and this...Remember...Law enforcement authorities are able to use the same technology to "ping" a cell phone and find its position.

Me: Okay Miss Brainac, all of us don't need an explanation here.

Melody: Quiet You....Okay...and done!

Like she had just explained, a ping sound was soon heard and Tessa's eyes lit up in happiness.

Tessa: Oh look! I got a signal! Thanks Melody! You're the best!

Melody: Y-You're welcome...

Awww. Look who made an actual real friend~!

She glared at me but I ignored her. I turned my attention back to Tessa.

Tessa: Thank you guys a lot. With this, I hope I can find Misty. We're supposed to be back in our dorms soon.

Me: How about we accompany you ok looking for her?

Tessa: R-Really? You do that?!

Me: Well duh. You did came here asking for help didn't ya?

Tessa: Oh yeah! I did. I guess it slipped my mind. I'm just so worried about Misty. I hoped nothing bad happened to her.

Melody: We'll search around this small town in order to look for clues as well.

Tommy: D-Do we have too?

Me: If we want any leads on Misty, then yes. Tessa here had received no help from anyone. I think we should give her our help and pinpoint where this Misty girl is. Plus, I don't want to stay in this musty motel all day.

Melody: Fiiiine...

Tommy: I-I guess I can help too! Barry can join in on the search.

He and that damn bear I swear...

Tessa: Thanks you guys so much! I'll never forget this kindess! Alright then! Misty, here we come! Wherever you are! We'll find you!

I know a person that could also help us. That greaser dude Dudley has been here for a while in this town as well. Maybe he knows something.

Who would've thought some kids like us would be playing detective by investigating a disappearance.

But the question is...Where is Misty Brooks???
