Chapter 5 - Dog
*Third's Pov*
Jake, Melody, and Tommy took refugee in their room in the motel. It's been two hours since they came to Dustville and already they want to go home...
But with no car in sight, they most definitely didn't feel like walking all the way back home. Plus, with Jake's sense of direction. They could get lost.
Asking for help was a no show as well. Especially after what happend earlier.
Jake: Your phone working yet?
Melody: Still no reception.
Jake: Mines too
Melody: Oh well...at least I can read Wattpad stories offline.
Jake: The fuck? You have Wattpad?
Melody: Yeah? What about it? Is that a problem?
Jake: You actually read the trash people write on that website?
Melody gave him an look of offense.
Melody: It is not trash! Wattpad is one of the greatest places to read other people stories! It gives positive and negative effects in every individual and there's no more question about that. It can also greatly impacts your life starting with your eyesight, your view on things, appetite, social life, education, studying, and working.
Jake: Whatever. If I say it's trash. It's trash. Plus, I didn't ask for a lecture.
Melody: You have no taste in literature.
Jake: I didn't expect dumb lectures. This is boring anyway.
Jake got up from his spot, his siblings gave him looks of confusion as he was already walking to the door.
Tommy: W-Where are you going?
Jake: Out. I don't want to stay in some smelly motel all day. There's got to be something fun to do around here. Coming with?
Tommy shook his head. He did not want to go outside.
Melody: No way.
Jake: Suit yourself. More fun for me. I'll be back in a hour or two. Unless it's the lady at the receptionist desk. Don't let anyone open this door. Got it?
Melody: No need to tell me twice. Don't die out there while you're at it.
Jake: Awwww. Sound like you care~!
Melody: Fuck you.
Jake: Fuck you two. See ya losers.
Tommy: B-Be careful...
Jake: I will.
Jake locked the door leaving his siblings to do whatever they want as he stepped downstairs and leave out the front door. The receptionist ignored him as he walked out.
Jake: Okay...even though this place give me the creeps. I will at least get used to staying for a while.
Jake then took a deep breath.
Jake: (Okay. Everything's alright Jake. Sure the people here might be crazed lunatics who have a habit of staring. But remember, you're just staying here for a week or so. Then, you and your siblings will leave. Alright. Soooo...What else does this place has to offer?)
Jake headed east further from the motel. But stopped when he heard growling. He turned sideways to see a great dane baring it's fangs. Luckily for him, it was on a leash.
Jake: Holy shit...that's a large dog....looks like I can't go that way. It's on the leash tied to a pole. It must belong to the manager.
Jake walked back inside to the lady who owned the motel. She looked up at him once he came over to her.
Jake: Hey. There's a big brown dog on a leash nearby. Does he belong to you.
Lady:.......He's not mine.
Jake: O-Oh...Okay...I was just asking.
Lady: Hmm.
.
She gave him an unemotional glance before going back to reading her big book on her desk. Seeing that she was in no more mood for an conversation. Jake left the motel once again.
Jake: (If the dog don't belong to her, then who does it belong to? An tenant or something? Maybe one of the other people here that are residing in this motel???)
Jake walked further away from the motel and noticed a bar nearby.
Jake: Sweet! Maybe I could get me a drink.
Not caring that he's underage. Jake walked inside the bar. To his surprise, there were barely any people inside. Only about two or three. One of them caught his interest.
There was a guy who seem to be in his early twenties. A college student maybe. A rough young man with light skin, who seems to have his dark brown hair greased back and wearing a black leather jacket that makes him look like he was a member of a motorcycle gang.
His entire appearance screamed greaser.
Jake: (Seriously. Who goes for the Greaser look anymore? What is this, the 1980's? Is he a mechanic or something?)
He decided not to wait any longer than he should to get the other guy's attention.
Jake: Hey.
The older man who had just finished his drink looked up at him.
Man: Yo.
The man looked Jake up and down for a second. He seemed a bit baffled by his appearance, due to him being an albino and all, but quickly hid it.
Man: You don't look like you're from this city.
Jake: I'm not. In fact, I was wondering...have you seen a couple with a red subaru car?
Man: Sorry. I haven't seen anyone with that type of car here.
Jake: Ugggh. That sucks.
Man: Why do you ask?
Jake: The couple I'm talking about our my stupid parents. Me, my siblings, and them were supposed to go on some road trip. Then one minute, those idiots up and vanished on us.
Man: Ouch. That's rough buddy. Sorry that happened to ya.
Jake: Don't worry about it. Anyway, my name is Jake.
Dudley: Nice to meet ya Jake. I'm Dudley.
Dudley extended his hand towards him as Jake took it and gave a shake.
Jake: Nice to you meet you too Dudley.
Dudley: So you guys are stranded here?
Jake: You might say that. We're looking for our parents but haven't gotten any good results.
Dudley: Bummer. Wait...why are you looking for them? To me, it sounds like coming from you, they had abandoned you guys.
Jake: Yeah. I know. They did. That's why I'm looking for them. So I can give them a piece of my mind and bitch at them.
Dudley chuckled at him.
Dudley: Well. I guess that's one reason. You're a funny guy.
Jake: Heh. I tend to be. Honestly. Those old farts need to live a little. Life shouldn't always be stressful. It should be fun.
Dudley: I agree to that!
Jake: So why are you here Dudley? You don't look like you're from around here either.
Dudley: Meh. Got stranded here like you. The reason why I'm here is because a truck driver didn't want to take me any further.
Jake: Damn that sucks. Our situation seems really similar.
Dudley: Indeed.
Jake then looked at the time. His eyes went wide in shock. Two hours had already passed.
Jake: I shouldn't stay too long. I promised my siblings I'll be back soon.
Dudley: Okay. Will I be seeing you later, dude?
Jake: Maybe So. See ya!
Dudley: See ya~! If you need anything, just come to this bar! That mostly where I hang out anyway.
Jake nodded as he incepted out of the bar. Dudley. He'll remember that name. So far, Dudley was the only guy that seem decent out of all these people here he had met.
*Later*
Jake emerged back to the motel but an was stupored by an unfolding sight in front of him.
Jake: What the...?
He saw the torn apart leash covered in bite marks and liquid fluid near the gate of the motel. But the question had lingered in his head.
Jake: (Where the hell did the dog go?!)
