Chapter 4 - Weird...

*Jake's Pov*

We left the motel to take a good look around the small town of Dustville. Tbh, it almost looked empty. Either not that many people live here or a desert town wasn't as popular as people thought it would be...

We know people live here. But the way thing are, Dustville almost looks like a ghost town.

I looked at the sign in front of the desert town.

Town: Dustville

Population: 523

Okay. Not that many people but still a bunch. I wouldn't be surprised due to flash floods and summer heat existing the desert, I wouldn't want to live here either.

Our first stop was the small store that was a few blocks away from the motel we were staying at.

The store was called "Dusty Creek".

Melody: Dusty Creek...Where have I heard that name before?

Tommy: D-Does it ring any bells?

Melody: Not really. Just sounds familiar.

Me: Enough sightseeing. Let's go in already.

Once we walked in, the guy at the cash register who appeared in his thirties looked at us with an annoyed look.

Melody: Excuse me sir. Have you seen a red subaru car anywhere?

Man: No. What it's to ya?

Melody: We're looking for our parents...

Man: Didn't see nobody. Don't Care. Either pay for what you need or get out of my store.

I frowned while my younger siblings flinched.

Sheesh. What an grouchy old fart. What woke you up on the wrong side of the bed. So much for customer service.

We all leave the cash register and headed deep into the store. Not much to hope for here. The place looked dusty and dirty like the motel.

I glared at the man at the cash register who was now ignoring us.

Haven't you ever heard of a broom?

Clean up this fucking crap you call a store!!!

Tommy: I...don't like it here.

Melody: Same. Let's just get something to eat here then leave. We can't rely too much on the junk food we brought earlier.

I looked at the frozen entrays inside the freezer section. The only good food we could see were pizza, hot dogs, chicken wings, and sandwiches.

Me: Let's just get the hot dogs.

I pulled out a pack as Melody grabbed the buns. I pulled the cash and paid for the two items.

Me: Shut up and take my money.

The guy at the front desk gave me a glare and mumbled something about "Teenagers having no manners". Yeah...Fuck You Too.

After paying for the shit, we finally decided to ditched this dump we called a store. Unaware of the man's piercing stare watching our backs.

*Later*

Okay. What the fuck...?

We headed further into town. We tried asking around for our parents if anyone had seen them or seen a red subaru car.

So far, we gotten nothing. But that was the at least of our problems.

I felt a creepy feeling being hardwired into my brain. I'm not the only one.

Melody: Hey...Jake...

Me: Yeah?

Melody: Do you have that feeling...?

Me:......

I couldn't give her a right answer. But I knew what she was talking about. The creepy feeling that was putting us on edge. Ever since we came to Dustville.

We all had the strangest feeling...

We turned around...only to see a couple of people staring at us eerily...

What...The...Fuck?

Tommy, our youngest brother, looked very on edge from the staring. As usual, he was clinging onto me hiding his face away from the public eye.

What the hell were these people staring at?

Us, apparently. But...why?

Was it because of our natural unusual appearances. We were albinos after all.

You barely see people like us around.

Not gonna lie, I was pretty attractive but I really don't like it when people stare at me. It makes me feel awkward and very uncomfortable.

We were only here for about twenty minutes and people were already directing their gazes at us.

People say staring can't hurt you but like others say it's rude and very impolite.

As for the way, these people stare at us as we walked by....

It was starting to make me feel...unsafe.

Melody was the same way. While I'm close to finishing high school, she was still in junior high at her age. Due to her sometimes serious and reserved attitude. She had the sense to feel self-conscious or at least vulnerable when it comes to staring.

Tommy was stuttering mess. That's all I could say for him...

I looked at the few individuals who were leering at us.

Me: Can I help you?

Caught off by my answer, the weirdos all begin to go back to what they were doing pretending we weren't there at all.

Odd.

Tommy: *Whimpers*

Melody:....

???: Heh heh heh~!

Huh?

We turned to see some tan skinned old lady dressed in traditional native american clothing about five feet away from us. Where the hell did she come from?! The better question is...how long was she standing there?! She barely made a sound!!!

Melody: Excuse Me?

Old Lady: You kids are not from around here are you?

We shook our heads no.

To our surprise, she started cackling like a witch. She begin to walk away but stops and looks at us with one final warning before leaving.

Old Lady: You kids are strangers to this town. Be Warned. Strangers Don't Last Long Here.

That last sentence sounded very ominous...

Weird...

Me: Let's Go...

We all quickly went back to the Motel.

Okay...just what the fuck was all that about?!
