Chapter 12: The Window

*Third's Pov*

Even though Jake fell asleep a few moments ago, Tommy continued staring at the ceiling. He couldn't bring himself to fall asleep even though Barry was a few spaces away from him.

He couldn't sleep a wink.

He didn't felt safe. In this very room. In this very motel. In this very desert town.

He wanted to go home.

Home?

Home is where the heart is right...but why would he want to go back to the home to the parents that had abandoned them.

When Tommy learned that their parents took off without them. He cried.

He then wondered why they left?

Did they really just leave them...?

Did they really wanted to get rid of them?

Did they truly hated them...?

Did they really wanted no children at all to the point where they decided they didn't want to deal with them anymore.

Tommy: *Sighs*

???: Tommy?

Tommy jolted a little when he heard his name spoken through the lips of a familiar person. It was his older sister, Melody.

He swiftly turned his head to her to see a look of fragile and concern crossed her features as she stared at her younger brother.

Melody: You're awake?

Tommy: Just...Nervous...

Melody: Ah...

Tommy:....

No more words were exchanged. Tbh, Melody wasn't really the most sociable person Tommy ever known. Usually, that's Jake. But most of the time he always out and about leaving them.

Now that he thought about it, Tommy then realized he nor his siblings ever actually had an pleasant conversation since they got here.

Even if it is the middle of the night, it would be best to start one to avoid awkwardness.

Tommy: Melody...

Melody: Hmmm?

Tommy: What's your favorite color?

Melody gave him a scowl. Honestly, was it really the time to be asking for million dollar questions.

Melody: Why do you want to know?

Tommy: I...I just do...

Melody:.....It's purple.

Tommy: Cool. Mines blue. What's your favorite thing to do in your spare time.

Melody: I...like to read stories on Wattpad and upload photos on Instagram through my phone.

Tommy: Sweet!

Melody: You?

Tommy: I...I like to spend time with Barry.

Melody: You do realize you're getting a little too old to still be playing with Teddy Bears, right?

Tommy: No I'm not!

Melody: You're almost nine years old by the end of this year, Tommy.

Tommy: S-So!

Melody: Which means you should stop playing with Teddy Bears. I know isn't easy to let go of things but you don't want to get bullied once school starts again, right?

Tommy: Well...No...

Melody: Then get rid of the bear.

Tommy: *Whines* But Barry is my only friend...

Melody: Tch. Hopeless...I'm trying to help you.

Tommy: *Sobs* W-Well...You're doing a terrible job at it...

Melody sighs in annoyance. This isn't getting them anywhere. She most definitely didn't want to listen to Tommy's sniffling and crying. It's gets infuriating.

Tommy: *Sniffs* *Sobs* *Sniffs*

Melody: (Argggh...So maddening and exaspering... Can't he ever shut up...?)

Suddenly, a small tapping sound was heard and the atmosphere suddenly went tense around them. Melody froze in her spot while Tommy stopped crying. Jake remained silent but still slumbered.

Melody: Hey...You heard that...?

Tommy fearfully nodded but didn't say a word. He clutched onto Barry in his arms and hid his face inbetween the bear.

The tapping sound continue as if someone was throwing something at their window.

Melody decided to get up and investigate the noise. She remained quiet as firmly as possible. Not really to avoid waking Jake up. He's a heavy sleeper. Even a earthquake wouldn't wake him up.

The middle child of the Parker Siblings turned to the source where she and Tommy heard the sound.

Towards the window.

Tommy followed close behind.

Melody then grabbed the flashlight on the small desk where the lamp was at and shine her flashlight through the window.

She then waited for a moment to see if she gotten a reaction.

....

Nothing.

Melody then took this opportunity to look outside the window. But to her relief. She didn't see anything.

But her relief was cut short when she and Tommy noticed what was on the window.

"GET OUT"

"GET OUT"

"GET OUT"

Melody: What the...?

Tommy: *Whimpers*

On their window it says "GET OUT" repeatedly all over in blood.

In fear, Melody closed the curtains as she and Tommy climbed back into their beds. To their horror, the tapping sounds continued. Before they knew it, their window started to shake. Someone or something had paid them a visit during the night.

It was now furiously pounding on their window. The window didn't break thankfully but that didn't stop it.

They didn't move from their beds...

Instead. They kept their eyes shut and pretended to sleep.

....

After a while, the noises stopped. But they didn't fall for it. The voice in the back of their heads just told Melody and Tommy what they need to do in spite of the danger.

"Keep Your Eyes Shut. Try To Sleep If You Can. Don't Get Up. Don't Open Your Eyes Until The Sun Rises..."

"Those who do open their eyes...well, no one knows what really happens after that..."
