Chapter 10: Horror Map or Not?

Ty

I woke up lying on my stomach on a cold, hard surface. My head was pounding like crazy-I moaned and kept my eyes shut.

Then, I remembered Rarity, and forced myself to get into sitting position and open my eyes, even if it felt like someone had hit me in the brain with a hammer.

Looking around, I realized that I was in a stronghold-stone brick walls, mossy and cracked, moody, dimly lit hallways, many doors and hallways.

I jumped as I heard a noise behind me, and quickly recognized it as Adam stirring besides me.

"Oh my god, my head hurts," he moaned.

"Same...actually, I think it's going away. Try getting up," I advised. Adam groaned in protest but did so anyways. "Where the hell are we?". He asked.

"Uhh... a stronghold?" I wasn't sure. But it definitely looked like one.

"Oh wow, you're right," Adam said, rising to his feet and wobbling slightly. "We're in one of those cage-cell areas-crap, are we locked in?" he asked, looking around the small, plain room with one wall completely made of iron bars.

"No-there's a wooden door behind you," I said with relief, also getting to my feet. I could feel the terrible headache ebbing away.

"Alright, let's have a look around," I said, swinging the door open. Adam and I left the cell and started wandering around the stronghold.

"Do you think we're back in minecraft?" Adam asked.

"I don't think so. Minecraftia was destroyed, right?" I reminded him.

"Yeah, but maybe we traveled back to the present?"

I tilted my head to the side, thinking. "Could Rarity do that?" I asked.

"Dude, that was not Rarity," Adam said seriously.

"Then what was it?"

"How am I supposed to know? Some sort of demon. Did you see here eyes?! They were, like, cat eyes. And they were green. And her magic was also green. I don't think it's supposed to be green," Adam explained.

"That was so random. And terrifying. I just remember her surrounding us in this huge freaking green fire wall!" I exclaimed, picturing the neon green flames in my mind.

"That fire thingie must have sent us here. But I have no idea about anything. Who she is, what that was, when are we, where are we, why are we here, and how are we here. So, don't ask. Well, you can ask, but I'll give you a really sarcastic answer or something like 'Gee, the magical Squid kingdom!'" Adam ranted.

I blinked. "So if I asked you where your favorite place to go was, you would say the magical Squid kingdom?"

"Shut up."

"...No."

"Ty."

"Yeah?"

"Shut-" Adam was cut off as the ground started to shake violently, and a loud rumbling and crashing noise echoed from one of the many tunnels and turns around us.

Once it stopped, we stood still, silent for a couple of seconds.

"......up. What was that." Adam finished.

"Do we want to know?" I asked, the stronghold suddenly seeming more dark and creepy.

"Ty, I'm startled...nah, not the same."

"Maybe we should go in the direction of the rumbling we heard?" I asked.

Adam looked at me. "That is a terrible idea," he advised.

"No, but we should find out what caused the noise. It was caused by something. Who knows, maybe a roof collapsed, leading to a way out?" I pointed out.

"You're an idiot," Adam said bluntly, but still followed me down the eastern tunnel I was pretty sure the noise had come from.

After walking a while, in the same tunnel, as it didn't have many branches leading to different paths, and even if it did, they were quick dead ends, it started to become more weird and creepy. At some point, the occasional torches on the wall, the only light sources, stopped appearing. There was just no torches left in the tunnel to see.

"Twilight does light spells or whatever they're called all the time, right?" I asked.

Adam shook his head. "I have no idea how to do that. All I can do is pick things up, find secret buttons, and accidentally teleport. I also have no clue how I did the last one."

I shrugged. "Maybe we can just experiment with magic again?"

Adam snorted. "And bring the whole place down. When you do any sort of magic, your magic producer thing, like your horn or headphones or amulet or whatever, is supposed to glow, too, right? We can just do that."

We each found a chunk of rock from the floor and easily carried it with our magic, which seemed to be easier to use every time.

Adam's amulet and his rock were glowing a vibrant yellow, while I could see my rock was neon green. The greens of my headphones were probably glowing as well.

When we walked into the dark, they provided some light, but not a lot.

"Greeeat," I sighed.

"With magic, don't you just have to picture it happening and it happens?" Adam asked thoughtfully.

"Well, in some cases. Like if you try hard enough, you can picture yourself dropping the bass, then actually do it, like Vinyl. But, you can't picture the world exploding then do it. Well...actually, just don't think about it," I advised.

"But making your amulet light up isn't too hard," Adam said. The rock stopped glowing, becoming invisible in the dark, and a clank told me it had fallen to the floor.

Adam's amulet started to flicker. "Woah," I said. "Don't just stand there, try it! Picture the sun, or a...a lamp," Adam ordered.

I did as he said, and strangely enough the blackness slowly came into view...sorta. Half of the hall was in a neon green light, the other bright yellow. The lights weren't so clear as to be able to see a couple blocks ahead of you, but you could still see most of the hallway around you now.

"Close enough," Adam said, and we kept walking.

After what seemed like forever, probably equaling around three minutes, the cave split into two separate paths.

Adam sighed. "Crap. Which way now?"

"Uhh, left, of course," I said and took the left path.

After a couple seconds of walking, the green light from my headphones fell on a large heap of rubble blocking the entire passage of the cave.

"Or not," I sighed.

"That must have been the noise we heard," Adam pointed out.

That started to creep me out. Was someone down here with us?

"Right. So, should we take the right path, then?" I asked.

"Yeah," Adam agreed, and we quickly walked out of the left cave and took the right.

We walked down the right tunnel, which was still dark, unfortunately, but still straight with no other paths. It just kept seeming to get more un-stronghold-like.

"This place is creeping me out," Adam admitted after a bit.

"Agreed. It's like a horror map," I remarked. Suddenly, the tunnel came to a dead end.

Adam cursed. "Now what?"

"Wait," I said as I approached the dead end. Once it was closer to the light, I could see a normal chest in the wall.

"Uhh, that's only very creepy," Adam noted.

I opened the chest. "Nothing inside," I muttered.

"Okay, that's only extremely creepy," Adam said with a nervous laugh.

As I was closing the chest, Adam called out behind me, "OKAY, NOW THAT'S ONLY UNBELIEVABLY CREEPY HOLY CRAP TY TURN AROUND."

I slowly turned around, and as I did, the form of a large, snarling dragon whose head almost touched the roof became visible in the green and yellow light.
