Part 3: New life

"From this point on...I'll trust no one anymore..." Daiko says as his eyes then were closed and a tears runs down.

[20 years later...]

"Zzz...Zzz..." Daiko was dead asleep on a table in the lab.

"Sir."

"Zzz..."

"Sir?"

"Zzz...mmm..." Daiko slowly opens his eyes and yawns as he stretches. "Oh no...how long was I out?"

"You were out for three days. You really need your rest."

"Nah...I'm okay...nothing a cup of joe can't fix." He says as he walks to the kitchen to make some coffee. "KDS, what's the progress on my side project?"

"It is ninety percent finished as should be good to go in twenty hours." KDS says to Daiko.

"That's good news...a new spine after twenty years." He says as he boils the water and makes his coffee. "Let's speed up the process a bit."

[Timeskip]

Daiko was sitting in a chair and was working away with his cybernetic spine along with some other robots.

"Adjustments here...tighten there..." He mumbles to himself and then rolls his chair to his computer. "A little modifications should increase its performance as an actual spine that works...response time under one nanosecond...and we should be...good."

With one final tap of a key it was ready to go. Now one question came into his mind. How is he gonna put it in?

"Umm...didn't think this one through that much..." Daiko said rubbing the back of his head.

"Want me to do it for you?" KDS suggested. "All I need is to scan you and I should begin the new spine process."

"Uhh...oh! Yeah..." Daiko said with a face palm. "I programmed you that way as well as the other androids I've made. Well, get to it."

"On it, Daiko."

[One spine replacement later]

Daiko slowly opens his eyes as he gets up. His eyes widen as he no longer felt pain in his back. He stands up and stretches his back as he no longer felt any strain.

"Ha...haha...hahaha! Yes!" Daiko said with a smile. "I'm cured! Thanks to you KDS."

"I believe you're the one who—"

"Ah whatever. Don't ruin the moment right now. I haven't felt this happy in a long time." Daiko said with a light smile. "You know what, KDS? I guess I'll take a break now."

"Hold on one second." KDS said. "You need to see what the problem was with your original spine."

"Huh? Umm, sure." Daiko said walking and took a seat. "God...that feels good to normally sit."

"While replacing your spine, I found a fragment of some sort of unknown material." KDS then displays the item to Daiko.

"Oh?" Daiko grabs the item and places it on the table. "And you found this in my spine?"

"Correct."

Daiko inspects it as he then gets a flashback of an event that took place in the wastelands. He remembers the saiyan and his blade that gave him a painful time both his judicially and mentally. Daiko gasps as he drops the piece of the blade and backs away and pants lightly.

"Are you ok?" KDS asks.

"U-Umm...yeah...I should be fine." Daiko says as he starts to calm down and looks at the piece. "KDS, run some diagnostics on this material. I need to lie down for a bit."

Daiko then exits the lab as he walks by the living room and a photo catches his eye. It was a picture of him...and the others. Daiko sighs as he picks up the photo and goes outside.

"I can't believe is been twenty years since...you've all been destroyed." He says as he stares into the night sky. "I still miss you guys...even if you don't exist...you still do in my heart."

Daiko smiles to himself as he walks back inside and places the photo back to its place and walks to his room. He then stops as he walks back to the lab.

"Can't sleep?" KDS asks.

"I'm going to test my power." Daiko says as he stands on a platform and teleports to a room.

Daiko takes a breath before closing his hands into fists and sparks surround his body before powering up and letting his energy surround him as the room shakes.

"Warning! Warning! Level of energy exceeding limits!"

"Huh?" Daiko then stops powering up. "That's not right..."

He then walks up to a chair and desk where a computer was. He takes a seat and starts finding the problem. Daiko rubs the back of his head as the system was still the same. So then what was the problem?

"KDS, everything seems to be the same, do you know what the issue might be?" Daiko asks.

"Hmm, it seems that the system may need an upgrade since the last 15 years you haven't used it." KDS says displaying old footage of Daiko powering up to his full potential and getting the same warning.

"What? I still don't get it." Daiko says rubbing his eyes a bit and yawns.

"It seems that you have surpassed your full potential from 15 years." KDS says as she compared the files from Daiko in the past to him now. "There's a huge power difference now."

"What?! Wait...pull up Akumo's file and compare our power." Daiko asks.

"Sure, but we haven't had any data on him since—."

"I know...and who knows if he's been keeping up his training...just please compare the two." Daiko says.

"Processing..." KDS then reaches an error. "It seems that I can't get a accurate response. Without more date from your power now, I can't compare the two of you today. How much power did you display just then?"

"I...gave about...twenty five percent of my base power?" Daiko says as he rubs the back of his head.

"Calculating..." A second screen displays the two files compared to each other. "If you displayed 25% of your power just then...and comparing it to Akumo's base power from twenty years ago...you have surpassed 90%
of his base power if you had went with your 100%."

"Ninety percent???" Daiko says as he couldn't believe it. "How many transformations did he have?"

"Three transformations."

"So...if I had tranformed...wait, no...if we're talking raw power then numbers wouldn't matter." Daiko says as he chuckles a bit. "I sound like Sorrel...ok...that's enough for today. I'm gonna go rest for real now..."

"Have a goodnight, Daiko."
