Chapter 2

The pleasant melody coming from the radio and the gentle breeze that caressed Jimin all around him as his hair fluttered gracefully in the wind, made him feel a sense of tranquility. He looked to his left and stared affectionately at Jungkook.

They woke up in the early hours of the day to travel south of Seoul city to the countryside. A trip that Jungkook looked forward to have with Jimin since the day he brought it to his attention. Jimin loved the wilderness and the aesthetic, peaceful nature of it and Jungkook's enthusiasm was evident in his face as he came up with various ideas in his head on how to capture his favorite model's beauty and the scenery with his camera.

Feeling Jimin's eyes on him, Jungkook averted his gaze off the road for a brief moment after making sure it was safe to do so. When they made eye contact, Jimin gave him the sweetest eye-smile that he loved so much. Lighting up, Jungkook resumed his concentration on the road. Jimin was such a beautiful and dangerous distraction that it was hard for Jungkook to drive without checking him out every time that he could.

Jimin inched closer to Jungkook to rest his head on his shoulder - the sweet scent of his shampoo wafting Jungkook's nostrils. On instinct, Jungkook kissed his hair and removed one of his hand from the steering wheel to interlock his fingers with Jimin. Both tenderly smiled.

Jimin directed his attention to the outside. Watching attentively at everything they past by; from the few mountainous range in the very far distance to the many open fields, green landscapes and lakes.

The town was apparently very secluded and not many people lived there. They were planning on staying for just one weekend since they both had work early in the morning on Monday. It wasn't that bad of a drive to get out here. Plus, it was nice to get away from the big city every once in a while. Their friends kept messaging them to take as many pictures as they possibly could, forgetting that it was Jungkook they were talking about. This two nights, three day trip would have hundreds of pictures alone.

The voice on the navigation system announced that their exit was coming up ahead and Jimin took the opportunity to put away the few items he took out of his bag and the trash from their earlier snack.

"It's just down this road," Jungkook spoke as he made a right turn onto the main street that led to the town. The further away from the freeway they got, the less street lights there were on the road and the more unattended everything appeared to be. It was no longer the neatly kept open fields but instead thick long shrouds and trees. If they had come here during the night, Jimin might've actually been scared.

When the town came into view, the place looked quite underwhelming. It didn't look as nice as the pictures made it seem and the small buildings were quite old. It was still the middle of the day and yet there was no one around, not one person walking about. The place looked more like a ghost town.

Sighing in agitation, Jungkook turned off the navigation system after not responding properly.

Jimin was looking out the passenger side window vigilantly when he noticed a repeating pattern from every house and small apartment complex they drove through. If he wasn't mistaken, the people of the town were watching them closely from inside their homes, which was extremely odd to Jimin that they would do that. The only reason he even noticed was because of the sudden movement the drapes from inside made or else he would've thought that this town was completely empty.

"I guess we're here." Jungkook spoke, startling Jimin. The building in front was definitely the motel, at least the big sign indicated it. Jungkook looked around for a public parking space but found none. He didn't wanna park just anywhere since there weren't any cars parked on the side of the street, and he wasn't gonna be the first to do so in case anyone complained.

"What the hell? This place doesn't even have any parking at all," he groaned annoyedly. Jimin read a small sign on the side of the motel that said free parking was available near the diner. "I think we have to go there for parking," he pointed at the sign.

Making an illegal u-turn, Jungkook drove back to the only diner he saw and parked as close as he could to the motel. Getting out of the car, the old music coming from the diner wasn't too pleasant to the ear and for some reason, Jimin wasn't feeling like himself. Gathering their stuff from the car, they made their way down the few blocks on the same street as the diner to the motel. Jungkook fished into his left pocket to make sure to have his pocket knife securely on him.

After arriving at the motel, Jungkook knocked on the door multiple times, growing increasingly worried that no one was there to answer before an older man opened the door. He scanned them both before given them a somewhat friendly smiling, welcoming them in. Jimin checked his surroundings, trailing behind Jungkook as they walked in. Jungkook cleared his throat.

"We called a few days ago about renting a room for two nights. The call kept cutting out so I'm not sure if you could hear me."

"Oh yes, right. The city folks," he exclaimed in his thick country accent, "sorry about that."

Both didn't know how to respond so they nodded in acknowledgement. The man continued, "we don't really get that many visitors out here, let alone city people. And my wife isn't so heartwarming so forgive her if there's any future misunderstandings."

Oh brother Jimin thought, rolling his eyes.

"That's okay. We're just looking forward to spend some quiet time out here in the countryside, away from the city for once." Jungkook showed him his friendliest smile. Jimin tilted his head to look at Jungkook. His smile gave him a warm fuzzy feeling, calming him a bit.

The man eyed them with a perplexed look. "Y'all two together?" he asked in a monotone voice. Jimin looked down embarrassedly, fidgeting with his fingers as if he did something wrong.

Jungkook stayed calm, not bothered by it. "Yes. He is my husband," he gestured to Jimin confidently. "We've been married for almost five years now." He flashed Jimin the cutest smile, proudly presenting him and making Jimin blush.

"Well whad'ya know? So that's what people do nowadays." Jimin couldn't tell if the man sounded disgusted or not. "I guess I'll give ya two the best room we can offer," he said as he reached for the key to their room in a small compartment. He grabbed a golden key and handed it to Jungkook. "We will give you clean sheets and all. My wife will clean the place up, don'tcha worry."

Jimin's small smile faltered. The idea of his wife cleaning up the room for people she already didn't like made him a little nervous. Who knows what these people were capable of?

"Well thank you good sir, that is very kind of you." Jungkook responded politely. Jimin squeezed Jungkook's forearm for security. Jungkook briefly looked down at him and back to the man again.

"When will it be ready?" he asked.

"In an hour or so. You folks can walk around and see what this town has to offer or y'all can stick around and wait in here," the old man replied in a flat tone.

Jimin nudged Jungkook's arm lightly.

"Um, we're just going to take a walk around town." Jimin bobbed his head towards the older man in agreement.

The man's face wrinkled up in an uncanny smile.

They gathered their belongings and walked outside of the small lobby. Once there was a good distance between them and the motel, Jimin exhaled loudly.

"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked, concern washed across his face. Jungkook had noticed a little while ago how tensed Jimin was acting and he didn't say a single word to the owner of the motel. Jimin was usually the more outgoing and friendlier of the two.

Looking the other way, Jimin ran his fingers through his hair and closed his eyes in distress. He's been meaning to talk to Jungkook from the moment they arrived but it was hard to bring it up. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin their trip.

"I don't really feel comfortable here, Jungkook. I get the feeling that something's...off. I can't really explain it. Everything's so weird to me." He turned his head in every direction, clearly restless.

"Well, I'm sure it's because this is a new environment for us but if you think about, it's not really that bad. Plus, two nights will go by quick, you'll barely even notice."

"No, It's not that. I just--" how could he even explain it without sounding too uneasy.

"Not what?" Jungkook waited for Jimin to answer him. Jimin looked up at him and sighed, he might as well come clean. "When we arrived, I was wondering why the place looked so...dead. And then I noticed that the people were watching us from behind their curtains. Hiding. It was very creepy. I can even feel their eyes on us right now," he whispered.

"So let them watch." Jungkook closed the gap between them. "There's no need to be so alarmed, Jimin," he said in a tender voice. "I'm here with you and you've gotta understand," he embraced Jimin from behind, nuzzling on the dip of his neck. "These people are probably not used to seeing outsiders like the man said. We're here to relax, not to stress out." Turning Jimin's body to face his own, Jungkook gently caressed Jimin's left cheek and gave him a sweet kiss on the lips. "Don't worry too much and try to enjoy yourself for a bit, at least for us."

Jimin still had a worried look over his face even though he tried his hardest to not disappoint him. He looked straight into his eyes and gave him a small smile. If it will make him happy, then he'll do it for him. Jungkook smiled back.

"Thank you," he kissed his hand. "And if you're still feeling that way, we'll leave right away. I promise." Jimin bobbed his head softly.
