Chapter five

There lays, Aria's lifeless body right in front of my door. I scream for my life. The purple pod people came running down the halls wondering what the hell happened. "What happened Makayla- Oh My God!" yelled Claire. She stepped back a few feet away from the body.

"I heard a scream. It sounded like it was right outside my door. Clearly I was correct," I say startled by the appearance. "I'll go get Hunter and grab a blanket to wrap her up," replied Kylo.

I couldn't believe that the killer would do this, kill Aria and put her in front of my door.

I stared at her motionless body while Kylo went to grab Hunter and a blanket to go and dump her. There was blood all over her face, left leg almost chopped off, her mouth full of blood, and her stomach ripped open to the point where you could see her bones and organs. Just looking at her makes me feel so sad inside.

My friend is gone, my first friend is gone. Tears started to appear in my eyes. I lost a friend, someone who I've known for three years. I couldn't budge any more. Hunter and Kylo are running down the hall coming with a blanket. They picked her up onto the blanket and wrapped her poor body in it and carried her away to the dump.

"Ok, let's all go back to bed, and tell the others in the morning," replies Elaina

"Well, glad it's not me. So glad," brags Carter.

We all went back to our rooms and went back to sleep. I couldn't sleep for twenty minutes. Finally, I got up and went to grab something to eat. It was almost five in the morning, so I decided to just stay up unless I fall asleep. Of course, guess who I saw on the way. The killer. He somehow hid fast when the commotion was going on. He was at the music room door. I hid behind the hallway lockers to see what he's up to. He looks around to make sure no one is watching him. He opens the door and goes in.

I thought he said that no one should be in there, especially him. He closed the doors quietly behind him. I go up to the doors and listen. He's talking to someone. They are talking so quiet that I can't make out what they're saying. I heard him coming to the door and started to open it but paused.

Have I been caught?

I question myself. I realized that he's still talking to that guy. Now's my chance to escape. But before I even have the chance to run, he opens the door and leaves. He doesn't notice me behind the door. Now's my chance. The other guy comes out and starts talking, while I stay behind that door and pray that I don't get caught.

"Ok, so I'll talk to her and see if she wants to." I wonder who the killer is talking about?

"Ok, and if she wants to, then come see me."

"Ok, bye."

"Bye."

They both go their separate ways. I ran to the green pod and headed towards the foods room. Luckily, I didn't get caught by them or I'd be screwed.

"How much of it did you hear?"

I turned around and the killer was standing right outside the door.

"I didn't hear anything, what do you mean?"

"Don't lie. I know you were standing outside the door, listening. I saw you when I opened the door."

"Then how come you didn't say anything?"

"Because, I didn't want to startle you and I didn't want to say, when my boss was right there. I saw you hiding behind the door hoping neither of us has seen you. So I'm going to ask again, how much of it did you hear?"

"I hardly heard anything because you two were talking very quietly. I was going to make a run for it, but the door opened and I couldn't go because I didn't want to get caught."

I told him everything that happened, and that I'm up for good for the rest of the day.

"Oh yeah. I thought you said that no one should go into the music room, especially you."

"Because that's my boss's room and your two friends got in his way, so he told me to kill them and I did. He doesn't like anyone invading his privacy."

"Oh ok. Plus, they aren't my friends."

"You ok?"

"Sure."

"Anyways, I'm leaving now so I can leave you alone."

"Killer?"

"Hm?"

"Can you please stay with me?"

"Sure."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

He came to sit with me, and we stayed silent for a few minutes. I started to lean on him and he looked at me like I was crazy. I quickly sat up like nothing happened. He just kept staring at me, and I felt very uncomfortable.

"What?" I say confused. "Nothing." He just stares at me like I did something wrong.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" I say with some confusion. "You leaned on me."

"Sorry," I say. I feel the blood rushing through my face. I stare off into the distance. I feel his glove moving ever so slowly on my left arm. He wraps his arms around my neck and he pulls me in tight. The warmth of his body makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. I lean up against his left side and close my eyes. His hand is rubbing my side for comfort.

I snuggle up beside him and we both relaxed. Nobody does this to me. The killer lifts his legs onto the table and we both calmingly settle down and close our eyes.

It feels like an hour has passed by and we are still in this position. Personally, I love it. I feel so close to him, not physically, but mentally. I don't want this moment to end, but eventually it does. He's got to go some time and do his own thing. I sat up and shake him awake and he looks down at me like there's something wrong.

"What time is it?"

"It's.... 6:25 am"

"Really?"

"Mhm."

I lay back down on him and he leaned on me for another two minutes, then he began to get up.

"Where are you going?"

"I've got to get back now to my station."

"Ok."

"We've had our fun so now I've got to get going. See you tonight?"

"What?"

"Well, after my killing, I was thinking you and I could hang out for a bit in the night."

"Uhh, sure. I would like to," I smile, blood rushing to my face.

He starts to chuckle a bit. "Ok, see you tonight. I'll come and get you, then?"

"Ok, see you tonight."

He leaves me alone, and I start blushing like crazy. I've only known him for a few nights and already, I think I like him. I can't imagine a world without him.

"Makayla, snap out of it. He's just a friend. It's not like love at first sight," I tell myself. I just laugh it off and grab something to eat. At that point, I was starving. I made some eggs and toast and sat there eating silently, to myself.

Once I finished, I cleaned up and Elaina and Samantha came to join me.

"Good morning, girls."

"Good morning."

"Good morning."

They got themselves their breakfast and sat down to chat. I helped myself to some iced water. Elaina and I both told her about Aria's death last night.

"Aww, poor girl."

I know, and I found her outside my room."

"Well she lived her life, and now it's time to move on," answered Samantha.

I thought back on what her body looked like and the cry in her scream when she was getting killed. Now, every time I pass that spot to get to my room or in the pod, I get a very cold chill down my spine. I just sat there staring into space, wondering what she felt when she knew she was getting killed. The sight of the murderer coming right at her, almost cutting her leg in half. Getting no help from anyone. Knowing that you're not going to live any longer, and that you're not going to make it, to not see your friends and family again. Your last breath. Your last words are a scream.

"Well, that's four down. How many more to go?" I wonder how many more people are going to get killed per night.

"Lets see . . . twenty more to go."

"A lot left."

" I know. And that's including us three." replied Elaina

Later on in the morning everyone else came to join us and we talked about what happened last night, and how many are left and what we could do to prevent any more dying. Of course no matter how many times we try to prevent someone dying, someone will always die.

Two hours have passed and we still have nothing to prevent anyone dying again. Quinn, Autumn and I got up and left to go outside on the hill. Just chatting away, nothing else to do. We did cloud watching for a bit, then headed back inside.

Lunch came around and I ate alone. Everyone else left to do their own thing. I made my lunch and took it back to my room. I grabbed my phone and sat down at a table and ate my lunch while watching youtube. I looked outside the window and saw someone standing outside. I went to take a look and it's Grace looking into the distance, crying.

I felt bad for her. She lost Aria, and now she's so lonely without her. None of her other friends are here. The rest of us have our friends for comfort or talking to, but she doesn't. The poor girl. I wonder if she'll be next tonight. My guess is either, Easton, or Grace is going to go tonight. Get them over with, then it'll be the rest of us. It also could be any of us tonight, not just them. I know for sure it's not me, because the killer wants to take me somewhere tonight and I'm pretty sure he has another target for tonight.

It's sad that I can't tell at least one of my friends about the killer because I really need it off my chest for one thing, and second, I want to talk to someone about it. At that point I zoned out and stared into space.

"Makayla, hello earth to Makayla," Autumn was trying to get my attention.

"Makayla." I finally snapped back into earth.

"Are you ok? Your blushing and smiling if you didn't notice," Quinn replies.

I was? "Are you ok? Is there something you want to talk about?" questioned Autumn.

"Nope. I'm fine."

"Ok," they both say at the same time confused. I'm pretty sure they think something's up because I never act like this unless something's on my mind.

"Something's on your mind Makayla. You never act like this unless there's something on your mind. Eeeek. You're dreaming about a boy." Autumn says excitedly.

"What?"

"You have a crush! Who is it?"

"Wha- no!"

"Yes. If not, then how come your blushing, smiling and staring off into space?" Quinn asks.

"I'm not."

"Yeah you are. Please tell us. We won't tell anyone."

"No, I don't have a crush on anyone."

"Oh really now?" Autumn's starting to get on my nerves, but what can I do? I don't know what to say to make her think that I don't have anyone on my mind, only the killer, but I can't say that. So I just say, "Yup I'm sure, just day dreaming of course."

"Daydreaming about boys? Kylo in particular?"

"First, I don't like Kylo any more and second, I'm daydreaming of the memories we all had together."

"Oh, how disappointing." Autumn's very disappointed about that, but it's better than lying to her face and Quinn's face too. Well, mostly to keep the killer's secret away from them.

After a bit we headed back inside, while Kylo and Hunter are having a mini basketball game to see who's better at it. They asked me to keep track of the score and I said yes, as long as I could bring someone to be there with me for company.

Harper and I are in the gym at the stand with the scoreboard. Kylo's red and Hunter's blue. So far the score is 5-2 and Kylo's winning.

"I'll be right back."

"Where are you going, Kylo?"

"Gone to the washroom." He left and less than a minute later, we heard a scream.

Not just any kind of scream, but a Autumn scream.
