Bloody Reunion
Ruby woke up to a wet hand on her thigh. She snapped her head to the right and she screamed. All night she couldn't make a sound but finally everything came out. She screamed and screamed until her throat hurt and she couldn't scream because she was crying so hard. The hand belonged to her sister. Her supposed-to-be-dead sister. The wet substance she felt on her thigh was blood. Her sister's face was completely scratched on the right side and it was oozing with blood. Her clothes were ripped and covered in blood as well. She had grey, empty eyes and her lips made a straight line across her face. She pointed to the front of Ruby's bed where another white mist screen was floating in the air. Ruby's gut feeling knew what was going to come up and she hoped she was wrong. The image showed her sister walking from school on the sidewalk. Her face was not scratched and there was no blood on her. She had bright blue eyes, like her and a bright smile on her face. She was wearing her school uniform; a white shirt with a knee length, plaid skirt. Her black and pink back pack was bouncing when she stepped off of the sidewalk. That's when the red, dent covered truck came and slammed into her, killing her instantly. The driver continued driving faster, trying to get away from the scene. She was lying on the asphalt, bloody, right side of her face scratched up and her body in a position not humanly possible. Her back pack was still on her, but it was covered in blood.
When it was over, Ruby slowly turned her head to the right, but her sister wasn't there anymore, and there was no hand print on her thigh. Still in shock, she was breathing hard on her bed, completely frozen. Mommy and daddy had never told her what happened to her sister. They always hid it from her. They said she had gone to a better place and that she was happy there. But Ruby knew she was dead, she just didn't know how.
The darkness was now all around her bed, like it was telling her that everything was going to be alright. Ruby controlled her breathing and felt like she finally found the last puzzle piece. She now knew what happened and this made her sort of happy. Her question was finally answered. She brought her covers to her chin once again and fell in a deep slumber.
