CHAPTER 10:Danger!
I should've thought of the consequences of bringing Kiyoko with me. She's too pretty for a lady. Kise was really shocked when he saw Kiyoko beside me. 'Kiyoko-cchi!' he gasped.
Kiyoko turned around, bowed her head slightly and smiled, 'Hello, Kise-san.'
'I brought her because today is her day off. Don't try anything funny.' I said.
Kise frowned at me from behind. 'I'm not going to do anything!'
I pressed the pedal and the car moved, towards a shopping complex. It'd be tough considering how many fans Kise had but the company promised to provide temporary bodyguards.
That reminded me, I should hire bodyguards for Kise—hmm, but that'd restrict his communications with his fans and he'd not like it. But it'd be safe for him and I wouldn't have to worry about stalkers. Ugh, thinking about Kise gives me major headache...
My guess was Kise had tweeted some hints that he'd be at the shopping complex for work because when I parked my car at the underground car park of the building, I saw a huge group of mostly girls gathering by a pillar.
'Oops...' I heard Kise muttered.
I sighed. 'I know this'd happen.'
'I didn't know they'd figure it out.' He grinned.
'You suck at giving hints, Kise. They are too obvious.' I replied and drove further inside to search for a more secluded spot. Suddenly I realized something.
'Shit.' I breathed.
'What's it, Sorano-chan?' Kiyoko asked. I drove slower and glanced at Kiyoko. Should I send Kise inside first? But his fans would restrict him and by the time he'd finish, the shooting would be over or something. Should Kiyoko stay and wait until Kise and I enter? No, that's too dangerous—she's too pretty.
I clicked my tongue. 'Kise, figure out a way to prevent bad rumors.'
'Hmm?' Kise hummed, puzzled. 'What do you mean?'
'Why are you so clueless my yellow prawn,' I groaned. 'What'd happen if they see you with Kiyoko-chan?!'
'... Oh, I didn't think about that,' Kise murmured. 'But it's your fault for bringing Kiyoko-cchi!'
'No, it's your fault for telling your fans!' I protested. We clicked our tongue in chorus and Kiyoko giggled.
'Sorry, Kiyoko-chan, this is the difficult part,' I said. 'Are you good at playing spy?'
'What?' Kiyoko questioned.
-
Kiyoko was amazing. She managed to sneak behind cars by cars as Kise and I survived through his ocean of fans. I told her she needed to be careful of model agencies recruiting her or anything of that sort. When we arrived in the shopping complex, Kiyoko rejoined us but was careful to keep her distance.
She was walking behind us and Kise's fans were further back. We went to the place and luckily they were still readying and whatnot. The director's secretary saw us and informed him. He turned to us and grinned as he stood. He was as tall as Kise.
'Kise Ryouta, welcome! We're glad to have you over!' he exclaimed and shook hands with the blond.
Kiyoko and I stood beside. 'That director is famous because dramas or movies that he direct were always popular. I think the ice-cream people hired him because they're new. I wonder what his idea would be though.'
Kiyoko nodded. 'I think I've seen him in TV.'
As we were talking I noticed the director glancing at us. He must've noticed Kiyoko. 'I'm sorry, Kiyoko-chan, I shouldn't have brought you, you might become Miss Japan in 25 seconds as the director is going to approach us.' I whispered.
I was right. The director stopped in front of Kiyoko and smiled, holding out one hand. 'I'm Nakamura Shinji. Nice to meet you.' He spoke.
Kiyoko nodded. 'I'm Shimizu Kiyoko, nice to meet you too.'
Nakamura glanced at me. 'Are you her manager?'
'Ah!' Kiyoko interjected before I could reply. 'I'm sorry but no, I'm not even a model.'
Nakamura gaped. 'I see! Don't you want to become one? You're the prettiest lady I've ever seen, after all.' He then smirked.
Kiyoko shook her head. 'Not really, there should be other girls prettier than me and besides, I'm busy as an intern in a hospital.'
Nakamura's eyes shone brightly. 'We are willing to hire you nevertheless.'
'No, really, but thank you for the thought! I appreciate it.' Kiyoko smiled. She's a professional. Perks of being a pretty lady...
Nakamura nodded once. 'It's fine, I understand. But,' he withdrew his business card. 'In case you are suddenly interested, give me a call.'
Kiyoko accepted it and bowed again. 'Thank you, I'll consider it when I have time.'
'Sure.' Nakamura chirped and turned away, telling the cameramen and lights' staffs to get ready. Kiyoko turned to me, giggling.
'Do you deal with stuffs like these too, Sorano-chan? It's kind of funny.' She said.
I slapped my own forehead. No, Kiyoko-chan, I'm too ugly to be recruited.
∞
I gaped when I arrived in front of his house. Too rich...! I checked my phone to see the time then checked the address again. The address is correct—is Oikawa-san really a member of Japan's Special Forces after all?!
I hesitantly reached out to ring the bell. But I'm 10 minutes early, should I give him a call? I pressed the bell. The front door was opened shortly and Oikawa in his night blue pyjamas appeared, rubbing his eyes as he wore a pair of slippers and walked to the gate. I gulped inaudibly.
He yawned. 'Sorry, I overslept,' he said and sniffed, unlocking the gates. 'The gates were damaged so I have to lock and unlock it manually.'
I bowed my head as he gestured me in. I entered and he locked the gates. 'You can go brush your teeth or something, I'll wait in the court.' I said when I saw the indoor court just beside his single story modern house.
He shook his head and sniffed again. 'No, no, wait inside in the lounge room! I'll go change.'
'Okay.' I answered and followed him in.
The house has more glass facades than walls. The lounge room was a huge 8 meters with modern black sectional sofa, and a coffee table squared in the middle. The lounge faced a built-in plasma screen and the scenery outside was absolutely breathtaking.
I nervously took a seat and stared at the flowers outside, a view straight from where I sat. I was wearing a cyan-colored plain jersey fabric T-shirt with white tracksuit pants. I wanted to wear my high school class's T-shirt but Oikawa might laugh at me so I decided not to.
15 minutes later, I almost doze off but Oikawa came from behind, drinking a glass of water. As he placed the glass in the sink, I stood and walked to him. He was wearing Aoba Jousai Volleyball Team's T-shirt and coincidentally, white tracksuit pants.
'Alright, are you ready to go?' Oikawa grinned.
'Sure.' I nodded.
∞
The incoming 2 hours were like hell— like I was roasted or some sort. Oikawa had been teaching me receives and I was really bad at it but it got better slightly after so many practices.
Oikawa panted as he landed his butt on the floor. I threw the ball in the air and caught it before approaching him at the other side of the court. 'Since you started volleyball from small and you're like three thousand times better than me, I think I might be good at volleyball when I reach 40 years old.' I said.
He chuckled. 'Not really, it depends on how much practice you're willing to go through. How's the lesson so far? I should get paid for this.'
I grinned. 'You volunteered. And the lesson was fine, just like how Hana-sensei had taught me back in high school.'
'That's good to hear,' he nodded. 'Let's go to the kitchen, I think you'll need some drinks.'
I followed him to the kitchen after we picked up the balls around the court.
-
'Unfortunately, this is not my house.' Suddenly Oikawa spoke up as I leaned against the sink to wash the glass I used.
I glanced at him hoping he'd understand my silent question.
'This belongs to my brother. I'm very close to his son so he didn't mind having me here to take care of his house.' He added.
'Where did he go?' I asked.
'Italy for a vacation.'
'So where do you live?' I questioned.
'Do you know Bluebird Heights?'
'Wow, of course I do. You live there?'
He nodded in reply.
'They say the rent is high, is it true?'
'It is, but it's worth it because the interior is really satisfying.'
'I planned to live there too but it was a little bit too far from my workplace if I were to walk so I chose to live where I live now.'
Oikawa nodded in understanding and I took his glass from his hand to wash. He wanted to refuse but I was pulling so hard that he let it go (or it'd break). 'They have a gymnasium so I was able to play volleyball there.' He said.
'Really? But I'm sure you come here often instead because here is more private and you could teach your nephew.'
Oikawa suddenly frowned so hard. 'A-Are you a psychic?'
'What?' I laughed. 'No, it was a guess!'
'But you knew I teach my nephew!'
'You said you were close to him—I mean, how else could you be that close to him if it's not for volleyball?'
He pointed his forefinger at me. 'There! You even know my love for volleyball!'
'Obsession you mean?' I chuckled. 'Hajime told me, no surprise.'
Oikawa gaped. 'Why were you two talking about me?!'
'I don't know, maybe he likes you.' I shrugged.
He shrieked. 'But Shino-chan...!'
'Yeah, they're going for a breakup, because Hajime finally realized that he likes you after all these times.' I said nonchalantly.
Oikawa gaped and flinched. 'You're kidding!' he said in horror.
I smiled. 'I am.'
'Sorano-chan!!!!' he whined and I burst into laughter.
∞
'Fortunately, we will depart as soon as Sorano Akayuki starts her semester break. Our people should be enough for a party given that the company is willing to provide 30 more workers to help with it,' Kanzaki spoke. 'I reserved a really big room in a resort by the ocean. Since it's summer, you guys can also enjoy the Summer Youth Program before or after we start working!'
'Excuse me,' Sorano raised her hand and frowned. 'One room?'
Kanzaki blinked, smiling as if he did nothing wrong.
'Cheapskate.' Akaashi blurted out.
The manager's smile didn't fade but he began blinking faster.
'Also, Summer Youth Program?' Izumi spoke.
'What the hell is that?' Iwaizumi added.
'He's actually thinking about the beach all along.' Kuroo said.
'Yeah, he's itching to go for a swim and made up the party as an excuse.' Bokuto cut in.
'I bet he begged the company to accept Yozora.' Nobuhiko interrupted.
The others began to agree and Kanzaki gritted his teeth then pouted.
'Ah! Stop it, all of you!' Kanzaki cried out and folded his arms across his chest. 'I-It's not like I w-wanted to go to the beach... Work! Work is more important!'
'Yeah, really.' They chorused and Kanzaki blushed.
He took a deep breath and let it out. 'By the way, I have an announcement.'
'Shoot it.' Nobuhiko said.
'Tonight will be Himuro Tatsuya's last night in this pub. He participated in a basketball tournament in America so I had to let him go. I have accepted his resignation and he won't be back in 3 months or so. He will not be replaced. Yet.' Kanzaki told.
Sorano wasn't close to Himuro because he often worked in the kitchen. In fact, they had only exchanged a few words since the day she began working but knowing that one of her team members is leaving saddened her. She was sure Himuro also felt the "invisible" bond as a team.
Somehow Kanzaki made them feel loved by each other and everyone felt the same way. Reina dropped her head then glanced at Himuro who was still smiling. That was one thing everyone liked about Himuro—he likes to smile no matter the situation. Kanzaki was almost sure Himuro would still smile even if he got shot in the head.
'Don't get too sad,' he spoke up for the first time since the meeting started. 'I might come back when I see fit, besides I have a girlfriend waiting in Japan.' Himuro laughed slightly at the end.
'What?! Who?!' Izumi and Sorano chorused and turned to the black-haired guy.
Himuro casually pointed at Reina. She blushed madly and looked away, avoiding eye contacts. Sorano gaped while Izumi sighed in relief. 'My bet some things happened in the kitchen while we're in front.' Izumi said and Himuro agreed.
Kanzaki smiled. 'I'm glad most of you have found your partners and it amazed me that the partner came from the same workplace. Congratulations.' He clapped.
'Yeah, except for Team Delta because you decided to junk in all boys here,' Kuroo raised an eyebrow. 'It'd be nice if you'd sent Sorano to our team, we could've had a harem or something.'
'I planned to make the bartenders all males,' Kanzaki said. 'But after seeing how hard Sorano Akayuki tried to get this job, I thought a few females can't be bad.'
'Few?' Nobuhiko chuckled. 'You hired only three.'
Kanzaki pouted. 'I'm not a matchmaking agent!'
Sorano giggled to herself at Kanzaki's antics. 'So how long are we going to be there?' she asked.
'4 days 3 nights.' Kanzaki answered.
'And are you serious about the one room thingy?' Izumi queried.
Kanzaki nodded once. 'I am. We'll figure out something to separate the girls since there are only three of you.'
'Izumi, let's not go,' Sorano muttered. 'I'm worried.'
Kanzaki raised his hands. 'I promise the boys will stay away from you three!' he protested.
'How can I trust you? Who knows? You might sell us to human traffickers!' Izumi retorted, standing up.
'Please trust me—b-besides, Iwaizumi Hajime will protect you, Shino Izumi!' Kanzaki flinched.
'Like hell he would! Men are animals when lust takes over!' Izumi yelled and was about to punch Kanzaki in the face but Sorano held her back.
'Was that based on experience?' Kuroo murmured.
Izumi casted Sorano aside and punched him on the stomach. Kuroo laughed. 'I was just kidding!' he giggled. Sorano sighed then turned to Iwaizumi.
'Aren't you going to say anything?' she asked.
Iwaizumi kept his stoic face. 'She'd slice my throat if I were to comment.'
Sorano smiled. 'So it was based on experience?' she whispered. Iwaizumi chuckled.
As of then, Izumi was staring straight into Kanzaki's eyes. Kanzaki bit his lower lip and nodded once. 'I get it,' he raised both of his hands. 'I'll reserve another room but I can't guarantee it'd be next to ours.'
Izumi stepped back and sighed. 'Thank you.' She breathed.
'Now that it is decided, please excuse me.' Kanzaki bowed his head and headed to the door.

From: Inui Resort, Osaka party
Thank you for letting us work with Kise Ryouta. The director is Nakamura-san, if you weren't informed. I look forward to our meeting! Thank you again, Sorano-san!
Tamaki
Sorano sighed and closed the locker door. She kept her phone into her bag and turned off the lights before walking out. Both Group A and Group B had gone back home and she was the only one left to tidy things up. Izumi offered to help but Sorano insisted that she should go with Iwaizumi.
As she was about to head out, she heard a loud crash coming from the Karaoke section. Frowning, she stepped away from the door and neared the source of the noise cautiously. Whoever bumped into whatever went silent. Sorano crept to the wall and marched forward.
She turned at the corner and beside the counter for Karaoke reservations, CCTVs and whatnot was someone trying to get in through the window. Her eyes went wide and she immediately thought of a plan.
Withdrawing her phone, she dialed 110. After informing the police of what she'd seen, she watched the intruder proceeded with his plan. Another beautiful idea struck her. She glanced at the rows of emergency buttons Kanzaki had prepared.
Red: Fire
Blue: Intruder (5 VS 1-∞)
Green: Intruder (1 VS 1-∞)
Yellow: Tornado
White: Earthquake
Black: Volcano
Despite not knowing how the Green button functions, she pressed it. Kanzaki is weird so she was afraid the function might be as weird. Nothing actually happened... was what she thought but suddenly the windows and doors were shut close with a metal door or some sort and then Kanzaki's voice echoed.
'Hello, I understand this is an emergency!' Kanzaki chirped happily, his voice kind of annoyed her for a moment but it sort of gave her a surge of calmness. 'I've shut the windows and doors so the intruder or intruders can't go out for 1 minute. That should be enough until the police come. To whoever in danger, touch the green button with your right hand's forefinger. I will bring you to safety!'
She reached out but then froze as a movement caught her eyes. 'Don't move.' A firm, husky voice said.
She did as told.
'Face me.' He instructed.
Her eyes searched for a weapon from him and she saw none. I can take him. I can take him... she told herself over and over.
'Don't even move.' He said again.
To hell with you!
In a split second, Sorano lunged at the man, aiming at his waist, and he was thrown to the ground. He pushed her head and struggled to get off but she kneed his you-know-what and he groaned loudly.
Come on, police!
She shifted her weight to her knee that was on the man's wiener. He gritted his teeth and tried to push her away. 'Struggle, and I'll smash it to bits!' she yelled and the man immediately stopped.
'It seems that you're in trouble,' Kanzaki's voice spoke again. Sorano blinked in confusion. I thought he's finished. 'Since you weren't able to touch the green button earlier, I sense that you're in grave danger! Because of that, I will begin the ultimate escape! Behold!'
'Told you it's weird.' Sorano murmured.
The lights were then turned on automatically and suddenly a really loud ringing sound echoed, making Sorano wince. The metals covering the doors and windows disappeared and the door was kicked open.
'Hands up!' a voice barked.
Sorano withdrew from the man and stood, raising both hands in the air. Behind the two policemen who came barging in was Oikawa and Kageyama. They saw Sorano and a sigh of relief escaped their lips.
'Sorano-chan! I'm glad you're okay!' Oikawa called out. One of the policemen glanced at him then nodded at Sorano. She understood his signal and ran to the two boys waiting for her.
The intruder was still on the floor, clutching his private part in pain. The policemen handcuffed him. 'Why are you two here?' Sorano questioned the two.
'I was hanging out with Tobio-chan when we heard weird metal sounds. We went to check it but the door was closed and suddenly the alarm went on, then the police came and voila, here we are!' Oikawa explained.
Sorano laughed.
'But wow,' Kageyama stared as the policemen brought the intruder away. 'That was dangerous.'
'Probably here to steal.' Sorano suggested.
'Does it happen often?' Oikawa queried.
Sorano shook her head. 'First time with me.'
'You might have to install lasers here.' Kageyama muttered.
'Good idea, so um, Kageyama-san, are you going to walk with us? What time does your shift ends?' Sorano asked.
'It ended 5 minutes ago, and uh, if you guys are okay with me walking along—' before Kageyama could finish, Oikawa clicked his tongue and pouted. Sorano blinked.
'Oikawa-san?' she asked and he huffed.
'Let's just go.' He murmured then turned. Kageyama and Sorano trailed after him down the stairs.
'We'll be taking the special route!' Sorano told.
'Special route?' as expected, Kageyama was surprised.
'We're going to stargaze as we walk!' she replied happily.
Kageyama gasped. 'Is it the place where you jumped into the river?'
Oikawa was startled then he quickly turned to Sorano. 'You what?!'
Sorano giggled. 'That was an accident! But yeah, that place.'
Oikawa's eyes widened but Sorano waved her hand in front of his face. 'It's nothing! I was trying to save my notes!' she said.
Savage, Oikawa sighed.
